Plumbing Level 2

You will be taught plumbing design and installation by experienced tutors for progression into apprenticeships and the industry.

The need for good, qualified tradespeople is ever present in the plumbing industry. Good plumbers are still highly sought after and many go on to start and grow successful businesses. You will gain a range of specialist skills to enable you to progress to an apprenticeship and become fully qualified, covering hot and cold water systems as well as heating systems and basic electrics. You will develop your skills in practical problem solving, allowing you to install bathrooms, hot water systems and sanitary pipework. You will also develop the attributes needed to be a successful apprentice. Students are taught in our state-of-theart workshops by our expert tutors, who are highly experienced in the plumbing and gas industry.

Qualification City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing

Duration One year

Course Content Topics you will cover include: • Basic Principles & Processes of Plumbing • Hot & Cold Water Supply • Central Heating • Sanitation • Environmental Awareness

The course is assessed by portfolio completion, practical and theory assessments and online assessment. All full-time students are required to study maths and English at the appropriate level. Please see page 6 for more details. Entry Requirements Applicants without suitable experience may be advised to commence study at Level 1.

• Four GCSEs at grade 3 (grade D) or above (to include maths and English) or successful and satisfactory completion of a suitable and relevant Level 1 qualification (e.g. Level 1 Diploma in Plumbing) • Alternatively, applicants who can evidence suitable experience or aptitude will also be considered • Successful interview and initial assessment in literacy and numeracy • Applicants will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to the chosen subject area

Progression Progression routes shown are dependent on successful completion of qualifications and meeting entry criteria.

Employment options may include: • Domestic Plumbing • Industrial Plumbing Contractor • Major Utility Companies

Study options may include: • Level 2 or Level 3 Apprenticeship in Plumbing

Course Content You will gain practical skills, knowledge and understanding relevant to your chosen apprenticeship and job role in the workplace, including: • Basic Principles & Processes of Plumbing • Hot & Cold Water Supply • Central Heating • Sanitation • Environmental Awareness • Gas Safe Certification (Level 3)

Duration and Attendance You will spend most of your time in the workplace, employed as an apprentice, and you will be released by your employer to attend college for training one day a week. It will take around 24 months to complete the Level 2 Apprenticeship and a further 24 months to complete the Level 3 Apprenticeship.
