Travel & Tourism Level 3

Equivalent to three A Levels, this course will open doors to global job opportunities, long haul travel and the potential to progress to university-level education.

Your learning experience will be enhanced by a wide range of exciting trips and visits. This includes UK day visits and a European residential trip to Spain or Portugal. We also travel to New York or Los Angeles as part of the long-haul experience. Training with British Airways or Flybe will make up an exciting part of your programme. Our teaching team have strong links within the industry, including with TUI, British Airways and Thomas Cook Airlines, which will enable you to gain the experience and knowledge to succeed in this sector. You may choose to work in a hotel, fly with an airline as cabin crew, or possibly choose a career closer to home in a travel agency. Many students also choose to progress to university-level courses before progressing into the industry.

Qualification Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel & Tourism (equivalent to three A Levels)

Duration Two years

Course Content You will cover a diverse range of topics throughout your course. A selection of unit titles is shown below. • Passenger Transport • Long Haul destinations • Overseas holiday representatives • European destinations • Sustainable tourism

Assessment is continuous throughout the programme through assignments, projects, case studies and presentations. Each year will also include one external exam and one controlled assessment. All full-time students are required to study maths and English at the appropriate level. Please see page 6 for more details. Entry Requirements • Five GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or above (to include English) or successful completion of a suitable and relevant Level 2 qualification at merit grade or above • Successful interview and initial assessment in literacy and numeracy • Applicants will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to their chosen subject area.

The Holme Lacy Campus offers an outstanding learning environment, designed to give our students the practical skills, knowledge and experience for successful progression into their chosen career or university. Recent redevelopments include new classrooms, state-of-the-art welding facilities and excellent new workshops. The Campus is based on a 257 hectare mixed organic farm which includes ancient and commercial woodlands, and traditional parkland with ponds and streams.
