Hairdressing & Barbering Level 2

This qualification has been designed to prepare you for employment as a barber.

You will be trained in men’s different hair techniques and work on external clients to gain real life barbering experience, which provides a great opportunity to build confidence and skills. Students who are 16-18 years of age will be required to study maths and English as part of this study programme.

Duration One year

Course Content The course consists of the following units: • Health & Safety • Communication • Barbering Techniques • Cut Hair Using Basic Techniques • Shampoo, Condition and Treat the Hair and Scalp • Cut Facial Hair to Shape Using Basic Techniques • Dry & Finish Men’s Hair • Create Basic Outlines & Detailing in Hair • Assist with Shaving Services

Assessment is continuous and industry related, with assignments, tests, projects and practical work. All full-time students are required to study maths and English at the appropriate level, see page 8 for more details.

Entry Requirements • 2 GCSEs at grade C (grade 4) or above
