Plumbing Level 1

Suitable for beginners, this introductory qualification is for those wanting to enter the plumbing industry. It gives you the opportunity to pick up some core skills and knowledge and gives you the opportunity to progress on to our Level 2 plumbing courses.

You will be learning basic skills, knowledge and will be supervised as you undertake various practical and knowledge-based activities. You will need to gain a total of 44 credits overall from a selection of subjects, typically these may include: Copper Pipework, Plastic Pipework, Ground Maintenance, Installation Repair and Maintenance of Plumbing Systems. You will be learning the basics of plumbing in our excellent facilities taught by qualified teachers who have an extensive background in the industry.

Duration One year

Course Content Units covered include: • Induction into the Construction Industry • Health & Safety in the Workplace • Environmental Sustainability • Above Ground Drainage • Insulation, Repair and Maintenance Pipework & Fittings

Assessment is through written and practical centre marked assessments. Each subject is assessed with a practical task to show you are competent. Each practical task is completed within a set time limit and you will have plenty of opportunity to practice before being entered for any assessment. All students will also have to pass nine paper examinations throughout the year. All full-time students are required to study maths and English at the appropriate level. Entry Requirements • Entry on to the course will be by interview. • Successful initial assessment in literacy and numeracy • You will need to demonstrate an enthusiasm and commitment for this subject area
