PEOPLE POWER: ARE YOU PART OF THE GREAT RESIGNATION? The years 2020, 2021 and most likely 2022 have seen the biggest jumps in employee resignation for quite some time. On TikTok, “Quit Tok” viral videos celebrate decisions to leave jobs. The platform’s most popular resignation hashtag, #quitmyjob, has received over 223 million views to date. Reasons for resignation are not a mystery. Here are just a few. Many mothers and fathers, due to lockdown, and stay at home orders have had to leave work to teach their children at home. Others have had to face the burden of Covid-19 rules and incessant testing at work. As well as the choice between mandatory vaccination or body freedom to avoid totalitarian domination. The choice of body freedom has been made by workers from a variety of industries and has effected both celebrities and the average person equally, putting everybody on equal footing. The beauty of the Great Resignation is it effects all of us and rather than looking at

it with sad eyes and a problem that won't go away, let us revel in the fact that people power is on the rise. We currently reside in a cultural space where everything we have known is either collapsing or no longer serves our highest interest. This can be disconcerting for some because change is one of the hardest things to endure due to the problem of uncertainty. However, when we step back and have a look at what is really happening we see a world that desperately needs to change. We also see outdated working practices, that no longer suit modern day living, and we see the early

seeds of a new world that is coming where we respect ourselves better, and want more quality time to spend with our loved ones. The Great Resignation is part of a growing trend where people will begin to take back their power. The New World Order, that we have heard so much about since the early 90s (spearheaded by the machiavellian World Economic Forum and Davos group), is desperately trying to take control. It is us the people who have the choice to say no to loss of freedoms and draconian orders, unhealthy work environments, and work practices that are outdated and in some cases barbaric. This barbarism can be seen working for one of the richest men in the world Jeff Bezos. Amazon, a global brand, has one of the worst track records when it comes to working practices. One worker, Daryl Richardson has led a union campaign because he has been thoroughly disappointed with his work experience. He complained about the fast, unrelenting pace of work and about seeing co-workers terminated for falling behind Amazon’s production quotas. "You’re running at a consistent, fast pace,” Richardson said. “You ain’t got time to look around. You get treated like a number. You don’t get treated like a person. They work you like a robot.”

Many workers have resigned from Amazon due to burnout. Amazon is not the only company to act like this but due to its popularity many of its secrets and stories are out in the open for all to see. The Great Resignation gives people hope because once you say goodbye to a job that no longer serves you, you can say hello to working in your passion, working for a cause, and working to be in service to others. HOLISTIC BUSINESS: THE NEW BUSINESS MODEL Our understanding of how we relate to business is changing. If there is one thing that the public has learned, certainly since Covid has appeared, is the benefit of community, conscious living, and holistic business. The concept of holistic business is understood in many ways: some call it conscious business, zen business or simply business that matters. Either way it is an acknowledgement that we are looking for businesses that care, not just about profits and its shareholders but about the smaller things in life that make the big things matter. In a holistic business, both the employer and employee work in a symbiotic relationship to co-exist together to offer a service that is beneficial and gives utility to others.

Of course every business is different and what is important for a business that sells shoes, will be different for a business that sells a service such as insurance, or pet care. Nevertheless, even though all of these businesses are diverse in their own ways they all have one thing in common. They need customers to survive and how they serve others will determine how successful they will become. A holistic business is a business that is aware. It can be driven by profits, but what it does with its profits and how it treats its employees and customers is what separates it apart from the old outdated business model. We are in a fantastic period of change. The greed and sleaze that we have had to put up with for centuries is falling apart and can no longer be hidden. We are tired of war and fighting, and are appalled when governments take advantage of others in the name of profits. Whereas in the past we were reluctant to call out greedy corporations we no longer hesistate to use our voices on social media, or on our own platforms to speak out against the injustices we see in business. For example, the PR fiasco of P&O Ferries who sacked over 800 workers via video
