WILL ELON MUSK BECOME OUR CENSORSHIP SAVIOUR? If you have been following the news headlines either reluctantly or with pleasure you will be well aware about the announcement in late April that Elon Musk has made a bid for Twitter. His reasons why are explained in his own words, "to loosen free speech restrictions." Our freedom of expression on social media platforms has been severely hampered over the last few years as many big names and brands have been kicked off and banned from social media platforms for various reasons, with one thread in common, simply exercising their freedom of speech. Although Twitter seems to currently have the worst reputation, the majority of social media platforms are moving in lockstep to curb our rights to free speech. YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok are the worst proponents consistently shadow banning, censoring or simply deleting content and accounts that are not in accordance with the mainstream narrative, or the rules of big tech. This undemocratic need to control and dominate is filtering out onto other

platforms that provide a public service such as Google, PayPal, GoFundme, and more. One of the biggest names to be banned and removed from social media platforms and Twitter specifically was Alex Jones, the controversial founder of Infowars. The ban came after a video tweet he made in 2018 demanding that then President Trump "take action" against tech companies that censor his content. This outraged Twitter and the company promptly banned all of Jones's accounts. Infowars subsequently was banned from all social media giants such as YouTube and Facebook which only helped the independent news channel soar in popularity.

Other notable names that have been banned from Twitter include, President Trump, James O'Keefe (the founder of Project Veritas), Mike Lindell (the founder of MyPillow), Dr Robert Malone (inventor of the MRNA technology), for opposing the MRNA vaccines. So when Elon Musk throws his money into the ring and comes in throwing punches we have to stand back and really take a look at what is going on. Honestly, do we really believe that Elon Musk will be the saviour for Twitter or is he offering another path full of promises that will lead to nowhere? One of the biggest arguments that big tech companies make for curbing free speech rights is that their companies are a private entity, and as they are private they can create their own laws. As we speak, new laws worldwide are coming into effect to temper and restrict the public's access to information and free thought. The world of free internet, free speech, and open argument is gone and in its place a dark and foreboding world lies ahead that can ban you from social media, close your bank account, and see you arrested if you say something that is not in accordance with the mainstream narrative. In addition, if you happen to be labelled a domestic terrorist of the state, or an agent of disinformation, you can be banned from

There is indeed something sinister afoot and when the richest man in the world of 2021 (according to Time Magazine) says he wants to help liberate free speech it is important we take note. As it stands the bid for Twitter Musk has made has been put on hold temporarily. There have been a cacophony of articles written warning musk that Twitter will have to obey the law of each country, and free speech will not be tolerated. It seems Mr Musk has his hands full just like the rest of us and he is in no position to be our censorship saviour.

SMALL BUSINESSES FACE A TICKING TIMEBOMB A fresh story is emerging and it is one that has a sad ending. There is nothing new with this story and it is an ongoing saga that has been in motion since 2020, due to Covid policies and the force closures of businesses. As the world now faces rising inflation, and a slow down of goods, small businesses are facing a grim reality that is jeopardising their livelihoods. In a recent interview with BBC Radio 4 the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) chairman Martin McTague said "We don’t have any problem with the way the chancellor dealt with consumer needs, But there is still a massive problem with small businesses. The figures clearly show that without further support, the expensive emergency assistance used to keep businesses afloat through the Covid-19 pandemic would effectively be wasted. Small businesses are the backbone of the economy. They offer long-term employment, market stability. and unique services. Allowing these businesses to simply collapse due to market pressures is without question unacceptable.

Gratitude Helps the Feeling It's an old adage but being thankful for what you have and where you are in life helps you to connect with positive feelings. We must first be happy with ourself and our life and appreciate the small and big things that happen to us. Being thankful and having gratitude will help your inner feeling shine through.
