Are You Afraid of a Facelift? For over 2 decades, Dr. Greg Chernoff has refined and perfected the science and art of Facelifts & total facial rejuvenation. We hear from our patients: “I don’t want to look pulled.” “I don’t want anyone to know I had something done.” “I’m afraid of going under.” “I want to look better, but I don’t want surgery” A facelift completed by Dr. Chernoff is considered a minimally invasive procedure with minimal downtime that may last a few days to approximately a week. Advanced techniques combined with new treatment options allow Dr. Chernoff to help patients achieve results not possible in the past. Dr. Chernoff’s surgical skill, combination treatments, and customized options provide our patients with facelift procedures they do not fear.
Mini-Facelift
A mini facelift is a less extensive procedure compared to a full facelift or what Dr. Chernoff refers to as a deep plane facelift. A mini facelift restores lost volume of the mid face, improves lines around the mouth, vertical “accordion wrinkles” in the mid face, and improves mild to moderate jowls. 6
Greg Chernoff, MD, FRCS(C) Triple Board Certified Facial Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgeon
Full Facelift
For people with hanging skin, deep lines, and jowls, Dr. Chernoff may recommend a full facelift also referred to as a deep plane facelift. A full facelift is also considered a minimally invasive procedure and requires about 1 week of recovery time. Dr. Chernoff has performed over ten thousand full face procedures and has tremendous expertise providing patients with safe, natural, and lasting results.
Combination Face Procedures
For some patients, Dr. Chernoff may perform ultrasonic-assisted fat removal along the jaw line to reduce the jowl area to achieve optimal aesthetic jaw contouring results of his facelift. Dr. Chernoff may also use a new treatment called FaceTite to provide additional skin tightening while performing a facelift surgery. This treatment helps improve skin elasticity for patients with extensive hanging and sagging skin. For patients with hanging neck skin and excess neck fat, Dr. Chernoff may recommend and perform a Neck Lift and Ellevate in addition to a Facelift. Ellevate is a suture suspension system

that supports and lifts glands and tissue under the chin. Dr. Chernoff will often use Ellevate in combination with other facelift procedures to provide exceptional results. Additionally, some patients may benefit from other facial surgical procedures, such as an endoscopic browlift, eyelid lift, laser skin improvement, and dermal fillers.
Dr. Chernoff’s Technique
What separates Dr. Chernoff from other surgeons is his specialized training, board certifications, extensive experience, and advanced techniques. Dr. Chernoff’s microvascular and head and neck experience provide extensive knowledge on anatomy and nerve location. This training combined with his three board certifications put him in the top 1% of surgeons in his field. Dr. Chernoff has safely and effectively performed over ten thousand facelift procedures. This expertise has allowed Dr. Chernoff to develop specialized surgical techniques including the use of laser for the majority of the incisions. Using a laser helps to minimize bruising, swelling, and promotes a faster recovery. Additionally, Dr. Chernoff’s incisions are not visible as a result of his placement and his specialized suturing technique.
Recovery
Dr. Chernoff and his talented team take your recovery and follow-up care extremely seriously. He and his Head Registered Nurse Julie, provide a level of care second to none. Together they ensure you are healing properly and have the highest level of physical and emotional support. During the early phase of your recovery, we offer specialized lymphatic massage, LED light, and other treatments that promote healing and recovery. Once your early recovery phase is complete, our care team puts an optional plan together that extends several months after your procedure to promote the longevity of your procedure.
Your Consultation
During your consultation, Dr. Chernoff, our Nurses, and our Patient Coordinators will explain all surgical and non-surgical options available. Our office utilizes specialized computer imaging to explain different options. As a result of Dr. Chernoff’s experience, based on the thousands of procedures he has performed, Dr. Chernoff is able to recommend a treatment plan and options that will provide our patients with long-lasting and natural results.

You Own Your Thoughts My grandmother was a Christian Scientist and she believed in the power of positive thinking. She had a saying that has altered the way I think. She repeated it frequently and ended all of her letters with it: Carol Juergensen Sheets “Let nothing disturb the harmony of your thoughts.” This was a gentle reminder that we own our own thoughts and beliefs and we can choose how they impact us. We are hearing a lot about how changing your thinking, changes your life. Women are notorious for taking on the feelings of others. Your feelings, beliefs, and thoughts belong to you. No one else has the capacity to change them unless you allow that. Many women have come into my office and said, “He made me feel so small or worthless.” The truth of the matter is that no one can make you feel. You decide how something affects you. Although you are human and people’s reactions have a certain impact you get to choose how it affects you. You then get to decide whether you believe them and internalize it. You own the choice, not them. Consider the following example: I frequently work with mothers with children who don’t keep their room clean. As a result, the mother feels the child is being disrespectful by not following the rules. I encourage the parent to readjust their thinking. The child does not intend to convey disrespect. Attaching this meaning to the action doesn’t help the situation. It keeps the situation emotionally charged. When the parent takes the interpretation out of the behavior, they are better able to redefine what the consequence should be. I run groups that teach clients to revisit their beliefs and reconstruct them in a gentle way.
Working in groups can be helpful because the energy of a group can provide wonderful support. To exemplify: I worked with a woman whose husband was an alcoholic. When he drank, he would frequently neglect his family. She “chose” to believe he didn’t love them. This kept her feeling unloved, unworthy, and in a one-down position. It reinforced her low self-esteem. When I worked with her husband, it was clear that he did love his family. However, his disease (alcoholism) took precedence over everything, including his family. This woman needed to use what I call the three Rs: • Readjust her thinking and not give him the power to affect her self-esteem. • Redefine his behavior as his issue (e.g. he wasn’t neglectful because he didn’t love them, he was neglectful because he suffered from alcoholism). • Realign her own power by determining her limits and boundaries. I encouraged her to go to Al-Anon, a support group that teaches and empowers people how to cope with alcoholism. Altering your thinking is life-changing. It empowers and feeds your self-esteem. It won’t happen on your own. You need to retrain how you think. Find people (support), places (groups like Al-Anon), and things (books) to assist you in making those needed changes. A great book to teach you how to take the emotional charge out of situations is Loving What Is by Byron Katie. Ms. Katie writes from personal experience and the book models going to one of her workshops. Your feelings, beliefs, and thoughts really do belong to you and only you have the power to use them in a way that is healthy for your selfesteem. So, the next time you are stressed, just remember, “let nothing disturb the harmony of your thoughts.” Remind yourself that your power is within yourself!

Meals on Wheels of Central Indiana is more than a home meal delivery service; it is the only provider of medically-tailored meals to the area’s homebound and chronically-ill community. These meals are prepared by Central Indiana’s world class healthcare institutions and delivered each weekday by our volunteers. At Meals on WheeIs’ core is the belief that food is medicine. Their clients receive meals that are prescribed by their physician, taking out the guesswork when trying to meet their dietary needs. Most special diets can be accommodated (i.e. heart healthy, diabetic, low sodium, renal, etc.). Malnutrition is costly for the healthcare system and studies show that access to nutritious meals improves health outcomes, lowers healthcare costs, and improves the quality of patient care. Simply put, medically-tailored, home-delivered meals are high-impact and low-cost for homebound and chronically-ill neighbors. At the beginning of the year, Meals on Wheels could not have known just how quickly the organization would be thrust into the front-lines of a global pandemic. COVID-19 exacerbated the financial and logistical challenges in accessing food, and the program became a critically necessary resource. As the impact of the pandemic deepened 12
and spread, so did the anxiety among many of our clients, wondering if they will get their meals or if they should let anyone into their homes. With the recent implementation of a “no-touch” delivery protocol, Meals on Wheels is creating a safer home for the client by limiting outside exposure; and additionally, reducing the needs of personal transportation. Throughout these unprecedented times, Meals on Wheels can be proud that they have had zero delivery disruptions and in fact, were able to step up by serving additional family members in the household also adversely affected by COVID-19. Meals on Wheels of Central Indiana relies on the generous support of individuals, corporations, foundations, and grants for the majority of funds that make their mission possible. In fact, 88 cents of every dollar go to clients through their Virginia Wesley Financial Assistance Fund, which means your donations will have an immediate impact on their clients. Meals on Wheels also has a community of individual and corporate volunteer delivery drivers who are the backbone of their organization. Your time is as valuable as your treasure and they welcome both. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact their Volunteer Development Director, Barb Renshaw at brenshaw@ mealsonwheelsindy.org. To learn more about their program and ways you can donate, please visit www.mealsonwheelsindy.org.
