Where Is Your Serenity? It is not uncommon to face different obstacles in your life that can provide great pain. Good mental health means that as human beings we are expected to work through them in a way that will minimize the negative impact on us. Unfortunately no one taught us how to do this… Most of us have learned how to cope with strife, fear, and negativity through the "school of hard knocks." You know how The Serenity Prayer says "God grant me the serenity to except the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference." That principle can be instrumental to good mental health. It is a great teaching tool to remind us tha the only thing we can control is our attitude. So if you are someone who is suffering from a tough situation like the loss of a loved one, a divorce or loss of job, it is imperative that you ask yourself "how might I be able to control the situation in my own mind to minimize the negativity and impact?" This requires that you ask yourself 'What good can come out of the situation?" Or you can reframe it in a way that allows you to normalize it. I once lost a very important opportunity to write a column. The publication was downsizing and I was among seven freelancers who lost their columns. I knew it was nothing I had done but I felt great loss because I connect to people through my writing. I remember telling another columnist…" We had a great run with our columns." She shared with me how looking at this experience as a temporary one helped her to reckon with the fact that we needed to appreciate the time we had with that… And it helped her to deal with her loss and feel good about the time we

spent writing for the publication! Sometimes we end up having to deal with negative people who can make us feel bad about ourselves Carol Juergensen Sheets or responses to things. I always remind my clients that "No one can make you feel anything without your permission" and it is your choice as to how you respond to the situation. The gift is that you can very clearly decide what you are going to take on as your issue and what you're going to discard. I encourage clients to remind themselves that when someone is negative… It usually is about them. This empowers my clients to feel free to be who they are…to look at how they may have contributed to a situation… and to let go of the rest. Is there somebody that is consistently negative in your life? Do you wish you could change them or the situation? Is there a way for you to change your thinking so that he or she does not impact you in a negative way? You own the power to let negativity roll off and to view your circumstances in a new light! This information was likely not given to you as you grew up so it's important that you retrain your brain to look at life differently and find people to support you in your quest for serenity.

Practice Gratitude and Perfect Change in Your Life! by Shelly Aristizabal It’s common during this time of year to hear talk of gratitude and why it’s so important. Adopting a gratitude practice isn’t just something that sounds nice during the holiday season, it’s a lifestyle and mindset choice that will drastically change your life and your business. Here are three important reasons why you need to commit to an attitude of gratitude. 1. Gratitude shifts your mindset. For something to change in your life, one of two things must happen: your life changes, or you do. Waiting for life to change is a passive solution. When you focus your energy on the problem, you miss out on all the opportunities for solutions that are knocking on your door every day, simply because you may not hear or see them. Open your eyes to a practice in gratitude and all of a sudden things start to fall into place for you and for your business. Being an entrepreneur means being proactive, not passive, so simply switch your mindset and see life change. How? Start by keeping a daily list of things that you are grateful for each night. Some call it a gratitude journal. But focusing on who came to your aid that day, what opportunities arose and how the day planted fruitful seeds for a better tomorrow will prove to you day after day that you are well taken care of and capable of succeeding with all the blessings that surround you. 2. Gratitude creates solutions. Adopting a gratitude practice takes you out of the problem and toward a solution. It removes you from complaining mode and into a best-outcomes mindset. That’s a skill you need in your life and in your business decision-making. Entire companies and industries have been created from seeing

solutions where others only saw obstacles. What will your contribution be? How? Simply start by keeping a mental checklist of your triggers. We all have our things that set us off into complaining or annoyance. What are your complaint triggers during the day? Just observe them for a few days and keep a list as they pop up. Then try to set some time at the end of the week, 15 minutes should be enough, to look at those triggers and brainstorm solutions. This can be part of your integrated gratitude practice. If you can see opportunity in the challenges you face, you will probably inspire many other people as well. Gratitude has a ripple effect that will impact the people around you. 3. Gratitude is contagious. When you’re grateful you tend to exude and share that contagious positive energy. People enjoy that and will tend to be drawn to you. Our energy is contagious. We can do good things together and are better for having come together. Now that’s pretty much the only contagious thing happening in the world that we can get excited about. How? Watch your words. What you say is usually how you act, so be aware of when you are complaining and replace whines with positive words. Start with you, and watch as the world changes around you. It takes about 21 days to make (or break) a habit. Challenge yourself and the people around you to commit to a daily practice of gratitude. Make a daily list of 3 to 5 things you are grateful for and WHY you are grateful for them. Then actually, BE the change you wish to see in the world!

A New Year,

A New Way to Workout After rewarding your cleaning efforts with that last slice of holiday pie for breakfast, you step out of the shower and unexpectedly catch your reflection in the mirror. Who is that stranger? In an instant the New Year is lurking and everything within you knows: It is time for a new you. If the prospect of pounding the treadmill next to a bunch of strangers does not inspire you to lace up your sneakers, you are not alone. Boredom is credited as a top ranking reason why people do not exercise yet one fitness service is changing the game here in Indiana. What if you could go to unlimited fitness classes at over 30 different boutique studios and gyms for one price, would you? Chances are that doing Hot Yoga on Monday, Cycle on Tuesday, and Zumba on Friday would more than spice up your workout regime. Well, that’s the concept behind “Open Gym Indy” the first and only fitness concierge in the Hoosier State. With over 400 fitness classes per week to choose from, as an Open Gym Member boredom is not an option. “This model of one flat fee for unlimited classes at different gyms is wildly popular in big cities such as LA, NYC, and Chicago,” said founder and owner Jennifer Gabou of Fishers based OPEN GYM. “It was time for Indiana to have the same opportunity to get fit, have fun doing it, while supporting our local businesses.” For a flat monthly fee of $79, Open Gym Members gain access to some of the areas most exclusive high-end fitness studios. The process is simple and exclusively online. Sign up online and then select the class you will attend, show up, and get your heart pounding. “We believe that when people are seen as an individual and have the chance to get plugged into community that they succeed,” remarked Gabou. “They succeed in creating a lifestyle that they love and in attaining the wellness they so deeply desire.” The studios within the Open Gym Community boast perks that are unheard of inside of corporate box gyms in the area, “At Body, Mind, & Core Yoga in Carmel, for example, “ Gabou said with a smile, “when your hot yoga session is finished the instructor will often bring each person a cool, moist toilette to refresh your face.”

And for Open Gym Members, the privileges do not stop there: clean towels, private showers, hot exotic tea, fresh coffee, personal assessments, and advance class reservations, are just a few of the amenities that make working out a special experience at independently owned gyms. The only stipulation as an Open Gym Member is that you can not attend classes more than 4 times in a calendar month at the same location. “Every single person I talk to says that they would like to be in better shape, and now is the time” said Gabou “we are projecting that we will be at capacity sooner than we expect so I invite our community to take advantage of this chance to join this fitness movement in Indiana by becoming an Open Gym Member.” A New Year, a new way to workout, a new you. By mixing up your workout, trying new things, and committing to fitness, perhaps 2016 will be the year you can have your cake and eat it too? Become an Open Gym Member by visiting www.opengymindy.com.

Using the MonaLisa Touch laser, Gynecologist Dr. Michelle Jones Singer is helping women find relief from vaginal dryness, itching, burning and painful intercourse. Here’s how she can help you, too. Since introducing the MonaLisa Touch laser to the Indianapolis area three months ago, Dr. Michelle Jones Singer has treated about 30 patients seeking relief from vaginal dryness, itching, burning and painful intercourse. “This restorative, minimally invasive CO2 laser therapy, which was FDA- cleared last September, has produced far better than hoped for results in 95 percent of my patients treated,” she reports. MonaLisa Touch means real relief for patients dealing with painful intercourse, vaginal dryness and menopausal issues who don’t want to take hormones.

and lots of moisture. I no longer look for ways to avoid being with my husband. It was well worth it!” Fifty something K.M. of Noblesville with a history of stress and urge urinary incontinence says “I have much less loss of urine with coughing or sneezing. I am not getting up all night long to go to the bathroom.”

MonaLisa Touch Laser is an office procedure that works painlessly, takes about three to five minutes to activate vaginal tissues to produce collagen. There is no anesthesia and no downtime. Three treatments are necessary to restore vaginal health. Although insurance does not cover this procedure, Dr. Jones Singer notes that the cost of $2700 for three treatments is similar over time to other treatments such as creams and hormone therapy. What is an emergency for custody modification? by Jennifer Hostetter I often have clients contact me regarding the need for an emergency modification of custody. At that moment, that client is likely going through one of the most devastating or terrifying things in their life and they want to see action done immediately to prevent further danger or harm to their child. Unfortunately I am often stuck telling them that what they just described to me is not the type of “emergency” the court would consider an emergency to modify custody or parenting time without first having a hearing. In order to modify custody, the moving-party has to prove there has been a substantial change in circumstances warranting the modification. Indiana statues on custody modification give the non-moving parent the right to an evidentiary hearing to determine if there has in fact been a substantial change in circumstances as alleged in the moving party’s motion. These hearings are given priority and, if requested, the court can enter temporary orders until the time of the hearing. An example of these temporary orders could be ordering a parent to remain in the state with the child, temporarily suspending parenting time, or

ordering a parent to submit to a drug screen. The courts rarely grant modifications of custody without first having an evidentiary hearing. However, in rare circumstances the court can enter an ex parte order modifying custody without first having the hearing. Because ex parte orders are an extreme remedy, they are temporary in nature and the matter must still be set for an evidentiary hearing. In order to grant an ex parte order, the court must balance the welfare of the child against the non-moving parent’s right to continued custody. If the court believes that the child’s welfare is in danger just based on the allegations in the motion, they can enter an ex parte order. This article does not necessarily answer the question of what qualifies as an emergency to get that ex parte order. These situations tend to be fact specific, and it is best to discuss the matter with an attorney in order to determine what the best course of action is. In addition to requesting an emergency modification, you may consider requesting temporary orders, filing a protective order, or contacting the Department of Child Services.

Natural, unique, memorable, and beautiful are just a few words to describe Jill Duzan’s Fine Artisan Jewelry. With a background in interior design and architecture, Jill took her gift of creativity and appreciation of nature to create gorgeous jewelry out of high quality natural stones, pearls and silvers found in Thailand, Bali, and India. I take the beauty given to us and make it into jewelry to enjoy everyday and to pass on to others.” At first, Jill designed different pieces for herself, but after receiving several compliments and ‘Where did you get that?’ from friends and family, Jill knew the next chapter for her was jewelry design. Now thirteen years later you can find Jill’s beautiful jewelry at several trunk shows, retailers and galleries here in Indiana and around the country.

The HCG Story... The story of HCG began in the Fifties when, after having done research on weight loss for 40 years and research on HCG specifically for twenty years, Dr. Simeons reported that patients taking small amounts of HCG, in conjunction Kathryn Azhar, Owner with a very low calorie and her staff diet, could lose weight safely and quickly without exercise, muscle loss or hunger. But all HCG is not created equal. The SuperVision Weight Loss program starts with pharmaceutical HCG. Unfortunately, there has been a lot of confusion created by products being sold without guidance that call themselves “HCG” but do not contain any in their ingredient list. HCG is one of 67 hormones naturally produced in the human body, so if a product states that it is hormone free, it's not HCG.

Cindy's Story

For years, I've had trouble losing the excess weight that I put on. I've tried several plans and fad diets, only to put the weight back on. I came to Super Vision Weight Loss when my doctor told me that I was pre-diabetic. I found the program easy to follow. i was glad to have the support of the staff through the entire transition. I am so happy with my results and my new lease on life.

Gary's Story

My doctor was on my case about my blood pressure, and I know that the extra weight I was carrying wasn’t helping that situation. My knees hurt and I just wanted to feel better. I gave Super Vision Weight Loss a chance to help me get the weight off. They were really great!! I lost 38 lbs. in 31 days! My girlfriend is thrilled. I travel for a living and I was able to stay true to the diet protocol even on the road. I’m so glad I did this diet with Super Vision Weight Loss. I feel YEARS younger and I know I’ll never have that belly again.

HCG does not produce weight loss by itself. However, in concert with a very specific balanced diet, and our help in avoiding unexpected environmental or behavioral deviations, HCG will allow the body to naturally pull the nutrients and calories needed from stored fat reserves into the blood stream at the rate of 1500 to 4000 calories per day. We are sure that those who follow our protocol WILL lose 20-30 pounds in 40 days. These fantastic results ARE typical with our full service packages. SuperVision Weight Loss program is not your run of the mill “eat less and exercise more” diet for a slow loss of 1 to 2 pounds a week that seems to take the rest of your life. Our protocol tricks Mother Nature a little, maybe, however only natural processes are at work. Per Dr. Simeons, it is safe and so very effective.

After
