Don’t be a Turkey...Have a Plan for Thanksgiving! T-day and counting: Touch downs, Turkey

and Thanksgiving Day. November is here with other holidays soon to follow. What are your Thanksgiving plans? It may be a day you set aside to reflect on the many blessings you have and offer your gratitude for them. It may be a day of rest and relaxation with family and friends indulging in an array of food. Whatever your day holds in store for you it is the beginning of another holiday season with the calendar year winding down and the hustle and bustle often picking up. A game plan of your own is in order. Dieting and Exercise may not be in your play book, but maybe they could be. If instead of adding milk and butter to the mashed potatoes and gravy you try using chicken broth (saving a couple hundred calories). Or you take a walk after that delicious meal instead of dosing off while watching yet another football game (a few more calories are burned). Do these substitutions sound doable? Managing a more involved substitution like mashing

6

cooked cauliflower in place of the mashed potatoes altogether or participating in the annual Drumstick Dash benefiting Wheeler Mission may be other options. However, if you are looking to have a significantly different game plan put in place to lose 40+ pounds instead of gaining weight over this upcoming holiday season check us out at www.hntindiana.com or call (317) 489-4817.

You are invited to attend a FREE information session at one of our convenient locations. Enjoy your changes this season. We can help. Change your life ‌ so you can live it. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Focused on Your Future, Collaborative Law the New Dispute-Resolution Option in Divorce

Divorces involve making decisions and choices. And the decisions you make can determine whether the dissolution of your marriage goes smoothly. Now you have a choice called collaborative law, a new way to resolve disputes in divorce negotiations. Collaborative law involves each party having his or her own trained collaborative attorney to advise and assist in the negotiation to reach an agreement between the parties on all issues. All negotiations take place in four-way settlement meetings, which both the husband and wife, and their counsel, attend. The lawyers cannot threaten to go to court nor is it an option. Settlement is their only goal. Each party’s lawyer acts as the client’s own legal advisor and advocate during the negotiations. The lawyers guide the clients toward a reasonable resolution. Their legal advice is an important part of process, but all final decisions are made by the clients.

Collaborative law may be the right choice for you if: • You want to maintain a respectful tone, even when you and your spouse disagree. • You want to develop the best coparenting relationship possible. • You value privacy. • You can behave civilly toward your spouse. • You want to maintain control over the divorce process and not let the court make the decisions. • You want open communication and a problem-solving approach. • You want to get beyond the frustration and pain you feel today and plan the best future for your restructured family. Mary Foley Panszi and Daun A. Weliever, trained and experienced in collaborative law, can guide you smoothly through this difficult life transition.

Months after the delivery of her big bundle of joy, Laura continued to have pain when sitting and during intercourse. Things were not the same. Frustrated by the results of her outcome, she looked for answers on the internet where she found Dr. Brillhart’s web site. She discovered and consulted with the Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation Institute of Indianapolis. Dr. Brillhart’s surgical option uses a laser to bloodlessly tear down the scarred layers and reassembles them correctly. Laura opted for this procedure and just days later things had already significantly improved and that nagging pain was gone. Erin loved to ride her bicycle but she was tired of the pinch that would suddenly come from sitting the wrong way on her bike seat. Besides that, her favorite swimsuit bottom never fit or looked quite right. She consulted Dr. Brillhart at LVRI of Indianapolis and scheduled a laser labial reduction. Soon she was back on her bike and riding without the pinch. After four babies, Melissa knew sexual relations were just not the same. She

couldn’t feel anything anymore and was afraid her husband might be experiencing the same. The birth canal was no longer holding him as snugly as it did before her first baby. James Brillhart, MD Leaking urine when laughing with friends or exercising at the gym was getting old fast. Dr. Brillhart’s Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation (LVR) surgery brought her hope. Melissa was thrilled with her results after surgery. Mini pads are now a thing of the past and she and her husband are enjoying that “hold me tight” feeling they both missed. Call 317.621.2400 to schedule your free consultation. For more information, visit our website at lvrii.com.

Spotlight “Does Your Bra Really Fit?”

Barbara's New Beginnings is an award-winning lingerie fitting boutique. With over 10,000 bras in stock at both the Fort Wayne and Indianapolis locations,

Barbara Gilbert & Staff each client is provided with a luxury of choices to build her own customfitted lingerie wardrobe. Certified Professional Fitters at Barbara's train for 90 days before fitting alone. Truly every woman can find her perfect fit at Barbara's. Lingerie styles available include lacy French bras with matching panties, t-shirt bras, nursing bras, high-impact sports bras and more in AAA thru N cup! Indiana native and store owner Barbara Gilbert listens to fitter and client feedback and preferences before hand-picking lingerie styles for the two Barbara's New Beginnings locations. A walk into either store, with chandeliers, colorful accessories and smiling employees offering coffee and tea to clients, will show why many loyal clients say, “I just love shopping at Barbara's!” Barbara's New Beginnings has been voted Top Shop for Bra Fitting in the USA & Canada from Intima Magazine, a success that owner Barbara Gilbert attributes to having caring customer service and the right bra for every woman. Barbara founded the first store in Fort Wayne in the year 2000, starting with just 400 square feet, with herself as the sole employee. Barbara personally understands the struggles of women seeking to feel feminine and comfortable. While in the hospital for a congenital pancreas illness, Barbara met many women who had undergone breast surgery due to mastectomy. As Barbara listened to the ladies' stories of struggling to find bras that fit well post-surgery, she realized that she was called to find solutions for these women and any woman wanting a better-fitting bra. Barbara

dreamed of creating an ultra-feminine and inviting boutique where all women could feel beautiful and special. Then she set out to do so! The store's logo, a colorful magenta butterfly, symbolizes the new beginnings all women have in life. A woman who has never had a professional bra fitting before will be amazed at how much taller she stands and how much better she feels after her Barbara's experience. Certified Professional Fitters address and conquer bra woes such as habitually falling shoulder straps, band riding up in the back, ill-fitting cups and unflattering fit and shape. A large selection of stock in gorgeous fashion colors and luxe basics ensure comfort and beauty for all ladies who shop at Barbara's. Shopping for lingerie is, by nature, an intimate experience. Ladies who have been frustrated by the trial and error of choosing styles and bra sizes in the past may have felt less than excited to take the time for a professional bra fitting. These ladies will be surprised at how comfortable this process can be. Barbara's New Beginnings' Certified Professional Fitters make the fittings at once fun, informative, and empowering! No need to run in and out of the dressing room in search of the elusive perfect fit. Clients try on bras that her fitter selects for her personally in large, private dressing rooms with comfortable chairs and pretty curtains. Each bra is assessed for fit and performance as the fitter demonstrates proper adjustment. An expertly fitted bra will stay in place no matter how a woman moves and will align the spine for better posture with less back and shoulder pressure. Better lift means that a woman's clothes will fit better and she will look longer and leaner instantly! Barbara Gilbert, upon accepting her Intima Magazine award in New York City last year, said “I love what we do. This isn't just a bra business. It's a caring business!” Parting words from just-fitted customers have included, “I feel like I look 10 pounds thinner,” “My clothes fit so much better,” and “I just found my new favorite store!” Affirmations such as these make Barbara proud to grow her business, and give more Indianapolis-area women the uplifting experience they deserve.

What does it mean to be balanced? Maintaining balance in all the significant areas of your life is an important start to living a happier, healthier, more prosperous, and meaningful life! Being in balance allows you to feel whole and complete; it gives you a sense of harmony and well-being. Life balance is essential for maintaining the quality of life and work for you to live a fulfilled - purposeful life. To create balance in life, first you must determine the important areas of your life. Your life is made up of many vital areas including your health, family, finances, business, intellectual, social, work, spiritual, recreation, personal growth, romance and more. You may not spend time daily in all areas, but when sufficient attention is spent over time you feel in balance. However, neglect one area - not to mention two or three – you sabotage your own success. It could mean that you have a handle on the various elements in your life and don't feel that your heart or mind are being pulled too hard in any direction. More often than not, you feel calm, grounded, clear-headed, and motivated. Once I was able to achieve alignment, my life flowed in a way that allowed me to truly enjoy all aspects of my life and give greater detail to them.

by Shelly Aristizabal

anxieties, worries, and negative self talk? How does it feel to know that you accomplished the goal in spite of these parts of yourself? 3. Prepare. What is your inner "stuff" that will try to keep you from sticking to your plan? (i.e. fears, worries, doubts, negative self talk etc.) Can you specify the things you will say to yourself to push you off track? (i.e. "just one more bite, I'll start eating better tomorrow") Make a list so you can be prepared to not give into your bad habits. 4. Empower. What do you need to remember in those times? What are things you can say to that self-sabotaging part of yourself? Be kind to yourself. Balance won't feel good if you're cruel to yourself in creating it! 5. Connect. Is there a person or a tactic you can use to keep yourself supported, motivated, and focused in those hard times? I highly recommend connecting and sharing your inner process with someone. Find someone who can help you challenge you and celebrate your little accomplishments.

1. Acknowledge. Take some time to really look at your life, your state of mind, and how you're feeling. Be honest with yourself and notice the areas of your life that you're neglecting.

6. Plan. Just like accomplishing any goal in life, it takes time and effort to overcome your habitual patterns and create new ones. If you stay on track with this detailed and intentional process for three whole months, then there is a good chance you will create new habits to enjoy a more balanced life going forward!

2. Reflect. What is the most important thing you've accomplished in the past? How did you stay focused toward this goal? How did you handle your fears, doubts,

Achieving alignment will help you achieve what you want most out of life!

I wanted to share these steps to help you get your life’s priorities aligned:

ELDER LAW MEDIATION by Tamie Jo Morog In civil matters, including elder and family law, the most efficient way to resolve legal conflicts is through mediation. Mediation, an alternative dispute resolution method (ADR) is defined in Indiana as “a confidential process by which a neutral acting as a mediator selected by the parties or appointed by the Court assists the litigants in reaching a mutually acceptable agreement.” The role of the mediator is to assist in identifying the issues, reducing misunderstanding, clarifying priorities, exploring areas of compromise, and finding points of agreement as well as legitimate points of disagreement.” Indiana Rules for Alternative Dispute Resolution Rule 2.1. The court system is an imperfect system at best for resolving elder law issues. Mediation can be used to resolve many emotional issues families face. Both attorneys and judges realize that it is in the family’s best interest to resolve disputes regarding elderly family members in an informal setting 20

where everyone’s concerns and ideas can be heard. Issues that can be resolved through elder law mediation include but are not limited to who should be the attorney of fact under a power of attorney, who should have what responsibility for the medical decisions, what long term facility should be used and where that facility should be located, who should collect and pay bills on behalf of the person, what investment decisions should be made regarding that person’s assets, and how gifting should occur from the elderly person’s estate. In addition end of life issues can be mediated. These end of life issues may include whether to use life sustaining medical care, the person’s desire to stay at home as long as possible and which funeral home should take care of the person’s remains. Working towards the best interest of an elderly family member is difficult work but a trained mediator can make the work a little less emotional.

How Do You Move from Significance to Contribution? Is there an inner voice that reminds you that you are significant and you could play a bigger game by contributing to make a difference in this world? Are you feeling fear and uncertainty and it keeps you from recognizing your greatness? Do you think that you are ready to move beyond your limiting beliefs and allow uncertainty to catapult you into change? Mastin Kipp said in his book Growing Into Grace that "limiting beliefs keep us from feeling significant. They are obstacles to believing in ourselves. We all have limiting beliefs ... they originate from fear.... they keep us playing small. To take our life to the next level requires an awareness of these limiting beliefs and change. There is a certain amount of discomfort with uncertainty. As we get more comfortable with uncertainty, we have less fear and when we have less fear we are able to create actionable plans which promote change and taking our life to a higher level which is ultimately the pathway to creating purpose and bliss. It is not a question of your birth, your ability or your "enoughness," it's a question of becoming aware of the patterns that you've held onto and then getting to the hard work of creating healthier ones. This means there needs to be actionable planning in your life to accomplish the movement forward so that you can make a difference in your own life and in the lives of others. Tony Robbins said it best when he said 'the quality of your life is the quality of uncertainty.' You see, fear keeps us in the comfort sound. It keeps us from playing a bigger game. It is inevitable that we will live with uncertainty, but the hope and purpose of coaching is that by talking about the uncertainty, the hopes and the dreams, we help each other to make that happen." The formula is a simple one but not simple to follow.

• As you think about yourself and your life, is it a possibility to connect to your higher sense of self through your higher power? • Do you have community around you that will increase the synergy of your life's

Carol Juergensen Sheets purpose and assist you in creating actionable steps that will move your life forward to obtaining that purpose?

• What is one action step that might move you closer to playing a bigger game and living out your purpose and bliss? Questions to consider (please answer with the first thing that comes to mind.) 1. What has talked at your heartstrings to accomplish, achieve, contribute, or serve? Please write out a statement of purpose. What would you like to accomplish in your own personal life? What did you hope that you might help accomplish in your community… your world? 2. How do you envision others assisting you in co-creating that purpose? When you write things down you're much more likely to make them happen, so spend about three minutes answering the following questions. What are you most afraid of? In other words, what are you most uncertain about regarding your purpose? What would need to happen to encourage you to take that next step? What is that next step? Don't let fear and uncertainty hold you back. They are normal reactions to taking that next step! Every person was born for significance, how might you contribute to the world?
