The HCG Story... The story of HCG began in the Fifties when, after having done research on weight loss for 40 years and research on HCG specifically for twenty years, Dr. Simeons reported that patients taking small amounts of HCG, in conjunction with a very low calorie diet, could lose weight safely and quickly, without exercise, hunger, irritability, muscle injury or weakness. But all HCG is not created equal. Unfortunately, there has been a lot of confusion created by products being sold without guidance that call themselves “HCG” but do not contain any in their ingredient list. HCG is one of 67 hormones naturally produced in the human body, so if a product states that it is hormone free; it is not HCG. Dr. Simeons’ diet protocol ought not to be followed without real HCG. The Pounds and Inches Away program starts with pharmaceutical HCG. HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) is not a growth or sex hormone; it does not feminize men or masculinize women. It is not an appetite suppressant, stimulant or vitamin supplement. Nor does HCG produce weight loss by itself. However, in concert with a very specific balanced diet, and our help in avoiding unexpected environmental or behavioral deviations, HCG will allow the body to naturally pull the nutrients and calories needed from stored fat reserves into the blood stream at the rate of 1500 to 4000 calories per day. We are sure that those who follow our protocol WILL lose 20-30 pounds in 40 days. These fantastic results ARE typical with our full service packages. The Pounds and Inches Away program is not your run of the mill “eat less and exercise more” diet for a slow loss of 1 to 2 pounds a week that seems to take the rest of your life. Our protocol tricks Mother Nature a little, maybe, however only natural processes are at work. Per Dr. Simeons, it is safe and so very effective.
Today an increasing number of dieters, many of whom had given up hope in their journey to lose weight, are turning to the Pounds and Inches Away Program to permanently lose unwanted weight. We are expert consultants, here to guide your weight loss experience from beginning to thin! At Pounds and Inches Away, we are also excited to be able to offer Whole Body Vibration technology by Advanced Healthworks to help people reach their goals. Ten minutes on our “Jiggy” machine produces benefits comparable to those gained in a one-hour workout without the sweat and effort of traditional exercise. More than 700 medical studies have been published about the health benefits of Whole Body Vibration. These benefits include improved circulation, increased muscle strength and flexibility, better core conditioning, improved range of motion, enhanced metabolism, increased bone density, and more. The Whole Body Vibration technology has also been used to improve problems with osteoporosis, diabetic neuropathy, fibromyalgia, incontinence, arthritis, Parkinson’s’ disease and other conditions. We encourage the use of these machines for their wonderful skin tightening effects. We are excited to announce the opening of our Pounds and Inches Away Weight Loss Salon in Indianapolis near Castleton Square Mall. We are new to this area and are offering the products and support needed for success on the revolutionary HCG diet protocol developed by Dr. A.T.W. Simeons. To get slim and stay that way, call our office at (317) 849-THIN today. We will help you reach your weight loss goals and improve your health, appearance and self-image. Nothing tastes as good as THIN feels…

You ARE Who You Hang With… I read once that you are the “average” of the people you hang around. If you hang out with people who are unmotivated, are complainers, look for problems rather than solutions and are “talkers” not “doers”, you’re putting big barriers up toward reaching your goals.
2. Put a star next to the name/s of the ones who are focused on problems rather than solutions. You know who they are…the ones who make you feel dragged down rather than lifted up. The “poor me, I am a victim” types.
Take a look at the people you spend time with. Are they likeminded? Do they have similar values? Are they working on their personal and professional strategies for success? Are you? If you’re feeling stuck in your own story and frustrated with your life and career, part of your problem could be who you hang out with!
3. Start a plan TODAY to reduce the time you spend with these people and if at all possible, a way to work them out of your life. Brainstorm little ways you can reduce and eventually eliminate time with him or her.
Get yourself with a group of winners. We’re pleasers and nurturers and we know that we want others to feel accepted and loved. Hey, we can do that for our children, our families and for the greater good. But for achieving our goals, we need like-minded people. We need people who can push us along, make us take notice of where we are at and determine where we want to be. You have to get with like-minded folk who look for solutions rather than problems. You must be with people who support your dreams and ambitions, and help keep you to a standard of success. And here’s the exciting thing. You’ll notice that as you surround yourself with people who hold you accountable to a level of excellence and expectation, that other successful people will join you. If you hold a standard to which you spend your time with, you’ll only attract more of the same. Like attracts like. So how do you get started? Here’s 5 little steps to get you going: 1. Make a list of the top 7 people who you consider your core group of friends or colleagues.
4. Look at the other names on your list. Who is left that is an example of the kind of person you want to be and be with? Call them up right NOW! 5. Finally, make a list of people you know that are solution finders and success seekers. Find ways to get to know them better. Now don’t forget that hanging with people who are good for you, also means you are good for them. The best relationships are the ones that give something to one another. Encourage and support the people you want in your life by helping them reach their goals, too. When you’re a winner, you attract other winners. Hanging with successful people gets you a long way toward being a success yourself. Linda Rendleman, M.S. is President of Business Women Connect and Co-Founder of the Women Like Us Foundation. Your Body, Your Rights: Options following Breast Surgery Women who have had breast surgery deserve the confidence to look and feel their best. If you or a loved one has had a mastectomy, lumpectomy or even reconstruction, you may be entitled to special rights under the Women’s Health & Cancer Rights Act of 1998. Most patients are unaware that under the Act, if your insurance plan covers your surgery, they must also provide certain additional benefits, including reconstructive surgery, full or partial prostheses (breast forms), and related products. And despite its name, the rights under the Act may also extend to women who've had non-cancer-related surgeries. A personalized fitting is an essential step in helping a woman restore her natural symmetry. In 2007, Euphoria Spa & Wellness Center added a full-service boutique to serve the needs of breast cancer patients and other cancer survivors. The boutique offers personalized, discrete service in a spa-like atmosphere. Women can receive custom fittings for breast forms, partial 10
"shapers," pocketed bras, camisoles and more. Euphoria’s trained fitters typically take a series of three to five measurements to ensure the right fit, and help customers find just the right products to feel comfortable and confident. They work with a wide range of circumstances and needs, and take pride in being able to address even the most challenging of fittings. In 2010, Euphoria expanded its offerings to include wigs, scarves and turbans for cancer patients suffering from medical hair loss, as well as specialized skin care products for those with skin sensitivities, including cancer-related issues. Euphoria is an authorized medical supplier accredited by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABCOP). The most important thing for breast cancer survivors to remember is that they have rights after surgery. Check with your insurance provider to see what is covered under your plan. If you need help exploring your options, the Euphoria staff is available to assist you.

Sleepless Nights? “I am so tired and I never feel as though I get enough sleep”. Sound familiar? It is among the highest of complaints in both women and men. Sleep is critical for mental health, maintenance of healthy body weight, and the prevention of diabetes. Scientific studies have shown that getting adequate sleep (around 8 hours for most people) affects mortality or death at an earlier age! So how can you get to sleep easier? First, and foremost, diet, exercise, and good sleep hygiene practices. Namely, avoid caffeine after noon, minimum of 2 hours fasting before going to bed, and avoid alcohol as a sleep aid (it increases your sugar levels, wears off in about 4 to 6 hours, and dehydrates the body). Hormone, thyroid and cortisol levels can be helpful in determining an underlying medical issue. Chronic medical conditions including arthritis and pain can also disturb sleep
cycles. Proper and aggressive treatments of these issues often resolve sleeping difficulties. As many of you have experienced, sometimes falling asleep is easy, but STAYING asleep can be a problem. There are different approaches in addressing these issues – herbal sleep aids, medications, or machines. Sleep apnea, a condition that causes “micro-awakenings” of the brain throughout the night, can cause chronic fatigue as well as heart and lung problems. And last, but NOT least, achieving and maintaining a healthy weight has been shown to be directly related to quality sleep! If you are not finding success with the interventions mentioned above, make an appointment. Then you will be able to rest assured you do not have a medical issue or underlying problem to your sleepless nights or growing waistline.

SPOTLIGHT
SCIENCE, ART, AND AESTHETIC VISION
Intersect
The Science of Fibroblasts
Dr. Chernoff and Nancy Noel, Actual Patient There are many excellent cosmetic surgeons in the country; however, few have dedicated so much to their art and science as Dr. Chernoff. After medical school, Dr. Chernoff completed a fiveyear residency followed by three years of intensive fellowship training in Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery, Laser Therapy, Breast Rejuvenation and Body Contouring. Dr. Chernoff maintains three board certifications in his practice of medicine. Dr. Chernoff’s commitment to training and education provides him with comprehensive expertise matched by very few. Additionally, his desire to continuously learn and research new treatment options is endless. Dr. Chernoff’s latest research has brought a cutting-edge personalized cellular therapy to Indianapolis. The new therapy is called LaViv. It is the first FDA-approved form of regenerative medicine using a person’s own autologous fibroblast cells to rebuild and regrow tissue. 20
LaViv therapy uses the collagen-producing fibroblasts that are cultivated from your own cells. Fibroblasts are cells that produce collagen which play a critical role in maintaining the health of your skin. As we age, our fibroblasts and collagen break down, resulting in wrinkles and lost skin tone. LaViv uses your own tissue to produce your own rejuvenated cellular fibroblasts. The treatment is revolutionary, effective, and long lasting for improving skin tone, structure, quality, as well as restoring or filling in lost volume or indentations in the skin.
How LaViv Works LaViv personalized cell therapy works by extracting and multiplying a person’s own collagen producing fibroblast cells. Since the cells extracted are your own tissue, they are recognized by your body as “self” and do not trigger an immune response. Once grown, the cells are injected into the patient to permanently improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles. LaViv is FDA-approved to improve the appearance of smile lines. Other studied treatment areas include treatment of traumatic injury scars, burn scars, acne scars, as well as filling in volume loss in the face and lips. What’s revolutionary about LaViv is that patients can use their cells again and again. After a patients initial skin biopsy, their cells are cryopreserved and kept in storage to be thawed for future treatment of other areas. “The future uses for LaViv

have limitless possibilities and especially benefit patients who are wounded and have scars” says Dr. Chernoff. “There are very few therapies that come along that are life changing for people and LaViv is one of them. We’ve seen remarkable success with LaViv for it’s wound healing capability through treating victims of violence through our Foundation and Center for Scar Therapy. The ability to tissue culture your own cells to repair and regrow your tissue is one of the most significant advancements to have come along since I started practicing medicine.” As a result of being one the of the lead investigators for the LaViv clinical trial, Dr. Chernoff was among the first in the country to offer the FDA-approved therapy. He has treated more patients with LaViv than any other doctor in the United States. Dr. Chernoff has patients traveling from as far as Australia to receive LaViv therapy and have the benefit of his expertise. Nancy Noel, a patient of Dr. Chernoff was excited to learn about this new therapy. “As an artist, I appreciate Dr. Chernoff’s aesthetic vision and expertise. I also firmly believe in healing from the inside out. For me, LaViv a perfect fit using your own “self” to heal. I don’t think anything could be more natural.”
Commitment and Quality of Care Most importantly, Dr. Chernoff and his nurse of over 16-years, Julie Leonetti, RN., have a commitment to patient care that is
Julie Leonetti, RN Clinical Nurse Manager second to none. Dr. Chernoff and Julie care for patients everyday following procedures including weekends, to provide reassurance and follow-up care. Dr. Chernoff is one of the few remaining physicians who will make house calls for patients. Dr. Chernoff’s commitment to his patients, to research, along with his innate aesthetic vision, and meticulous surgical skills, provide his patients with the highest-level of quality. Dr. Chernoff will continue to research new therapies including stem cells and other forms of regenerative medicine paving the way for numerous anti-aging, aesthetic and other health improving treatments. Visit www.drchernoff.com to view before and after photos of patients treated with laViv. For additional information or to schedule a consultation, contact Dr. Chernoff’s office at 317-573-8899.

Really?! They have until the years 2013 and 2015? Why take the risk? Just in case you missed the recent news coverage about the harmful ingredients used in many products today, I wanted you to have the information.
Katie Thomas reported in the New York Times on August 12, 2012, “Johnson & Johnson, which makes a range of personal care products like baby shampoo, acne cream and antiwrinkle lotion, announced plans Wednesday to remove a host of potentially harmful chemicals, like formaldehyde, from its line of consumer products by the end of 2015, becoming the first major consumer products company to make such a widespread commitment.” “The company had already pledged to remove certain chemicals from its baby products by 2013, but the latest announcement extended the program to its adult products, including well-known drugstore brands like Neutrogena, Aveeno and Clean & Clear.” “In 2009, the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, a coalition that includes the Environmental Working Group, analyzed the contents of dozens of products for children and found that many items contained two substances of particular concern: formaldehyde and 1,4 dioxane. Consumers won’t find either listed on the back of their shampoos or lotions because neither is technically an ingredient.”
28
“Formaldehyde, which last year was identified by government scientists as a carcinogen, is released over time by common preservatives like quaternium-15 and DMDM hydantoin, which do appear on labels. And 1,4 dioxane, which has been linked to cancer in animal studies …” “Ms. Nettesheim” (vice president for product stewardship and toxicology for Johnson & Johnson’s consumer health brands) “said the project was a major undertaking and would require extensive spending on research and development to find suitable alternatives to the ingredients, most of which are common in the industry.” This is just one of the many reasons I am passionate about what I do. We have been telling people for years about these harsh ingredients and that there are safer alternatives available. I am a customer of and market for a consumable products manufacturer who has never put these harsh ingredients in their products. And they aren’t a new company. They have been in business for 27 years. It is not a trend for them or a forced response to a government agency... it wasn’t a “major undertaking”. From day one they made the commitment to manufacture better, safer, healthier, smarter, cleaner and greener products. I don’t sell products, however if you would like more information on how you too can shop direct from a manufacturer who has chosen principles over profits, give me a call today… Karen at 317-828-3061 or 888-802-4321.

HCG DIET What is the HCG Diet? HCG is a weight loss program that allows your body to release the abnormal fat stores (abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks, face and arms) of about 2,000 calories per day into your bloodstream allowing you to follow a very low calorie diet (VLCD). It reshapes the body contour especially the abdomen, buttocks and hips. How much weight will I lose with the HCG Diet? On average patients lose about a pound a day when compliant with the program. Normally a VLCD would be impossible, but the HCG suppresses the appetite. How will the HCG diet protocol help me maintain my weight?
the Internet claiming they work as well. We use the only medical-grade, patented HCG product available on the market. It is double-tested to ensure strength and quality and can only be prescribed by a physician. Some products may contain undisclosed additives and may not be manufactured in a sterile laboratory. Why should I choose this HCG diet over other weight loss programs? The HCG diet will “jump start” your weight loss so that you lose weight rapidly and see immediate results. Less expensive “per pound lost” than other weight loss programs. It can be a life-changing event to get you on the track to the NEW HEALTHIER YOU!!
The HCG diet protocol addresses the root cause of being overweight - Abnormal Fat stores. It will “reset” the metabolism so that once the weight loss goal is achieved and a healthy, low calorie diet and exercise are resumed, the weight can be maintained. I’ve heard there are cheaper oral HCG programs? There are many copycat formulas being sold over

Change Your Thoughts One of the first questions I ask a new client who walks into my office is, “Why are you seeking coaching now?” She typically responds with one of two predictable answers: • She is tired of struggling on her own • She is “sick and tired of being sick and tired”…meaning she feels stuck and knows that she needs an encourager to help her to make some very needed changes in her life. Now I strongly believe that you can accomplish most any goal if you see yourself differently, believe in your own potential, and break down the goal into small, achievable steps. Do you believe in your heart that you can accomplish your own personalized goals? If you don’t, you won’t reach your goals. It is imperative that you start your goal-setting with the mindset that you are going to accomplish the task. This requires a mindset of what I call “determined thinking”. When you look at a goal, you need to presuppose that you will get the goal accomplished. Once you do that you can spend your creative energy determining how you will accomplish your goals. Reaching a goal requires “belief in yourself”. To exemplify this point, I will share a personal story with you. I was working on a brochure for a speaking engagement that just didn’t feel right. I definitely wasn’t happy with it. I ran it by my husband, who remained neutral as he read it. No praise and no positives. I really could have used his encouragement. When he handed it back I began to question my own capabilities. My instincts that the brochure was not right, coupled with his lack of enthusiasm, created a mindset of insecurity. Insecurity happens to all of us. I went to bed and got up the next morning and spent ten minutes seeing myself making the needed changes to the brochure and then I sat down to do it. Something I had been working on for months came together in 15 minutes on a Saturday morning after I took the time to believe in myself and “visualize” myself accomplishing my goal. This coupled 36
with the interruption of negative thinking with sleep created the new mindset. The bad news is that negative thinking can be your own worst enemy because it spreads rapidly. The Carol Juergensen Sheets good news is that you are in control of your thoughts and you can turn that negative thought into a positive one—but it takes effort. Had I not invested the ten minutes into seeing myself “as a creative person” I likely would have spent all day Saturday working on a brochure with a mindset that said subconsciously, “This just is not right”, creating a self-fulfilling prophecy. Get out your Personal Growth Journals and make sure to jot down the formula for turning negative thinking into positive thinking. When you have a negative thought, either replace it with a positive one or interrupt it with an image of yourself accomplishing the goal. Use your mind to work for you instead of against you. Think of a goal and write it down. Break that goal down into smaller, more achievable steps. See yourself accomplishing your goal and as negative thoughts creep in, stop, and replace it with the belief that you can do it. Remember, this magazine is devoted to providing you resources to change your life. Use your thoughts to motivate yourself into action and watch your goals become real! Carol Juergensen Sheets LCSW PCC is a psychotherapist and personal life coach. She does motivational speaking and empowerment trainings locally and nationally. To find out more about her services--contact her at www.carolthecoach.com or call her at 317 218-3479. You can watch Carol the Coach segments on WTHR’s Channel 13 Wednesdays @ 12:50PM.
