It took about four years, but the project was successfully done. Along with the script and directing, what makes #LoveSwag stand out is its cast of actors who were relatively new to the film industry. “When we first started casting, we were blown away to see the amount of talent that came into the room,” Allison said. “It’s destiny. Incredible people were brought to this incredible script.
uncovers sexual taboos, while reducing male dominance to a laughable situation. Allison, a native of California, first became interested in writing screenplays while a student at Morehouse College, when he read his friend Ricky Harris’ screenplay for a John Singleton film. Allison has been writing for more than 10 years. “I just kept writing and writing and finally the opportunity came for me to do a film and I just went with it,” he said. Allison said he wrote the film from real-life inspiration, including the images portrayed through a plethora of rap songs. “I thought it would be great to have a film to play off of that image,” he said. “I’d say the script took about a year to write it and it sat for a while. I was inspired to go back and spruce it up. And then we got the phenomenal director Austin Davoren. He gave the script a read and he loved it.” Allison overcame logistical and financial obstacles in the making of the film. “I didn’t have any money, but I knew I was going to make this film for some reason,” he said.
He said in the film, Bronson decides to fight for his swag. Actor and comedian Giovanni Watson plays Bronson. Watson was born and raised in Gary, Ind. and began acting at an early age later incorporating dance into his repertoire. He moved to L.A. “fresh out of high school.” “I’ve danced for a few people, will.i.am, Beyoncé, Chris Brown, R. Kelly, he said. “I have a long history in dancing professionally.” He said his character in #LoveSwag reminds him of a modern day Marcus Graham a character from the film “Boomerang.” “A good-looking guy,” Watson explained. “A womanizer. Financially stable. Never really wanting to settle down. Until that one woman came into his life and gave him a new perspective on life and love.” Watson said he also received inspiration for his portrayal from his own life experiences. He said he dated a lot of women, “until that one woman comes along and changes everything.” He said what audiences will take away from #LoveSwag is that when you become a man, you put away childish things and it’s OK to let your guard down to try something new. Also that life is about second chances.

in their lives for a man,” she said. Betancourt said the audience can certainly expect a lot of laughs.
Yaritza Betancourt plays the woman who changes Bronson’s life, Terry. Betancourt was born in Puerto Rico later moving to Boston, Mass. After she graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in theater, she moved to L.A. where she’s been for six years.
“The cast is very funny, most of the jokes are provided by the other cast members besides me,” she added. “I think the audience is going to see a transformation in the Bronson, what a woman means to him and how it changes his life around for the better.”

the industry and L.A. My background is theater so this was a new experience for me.” She describes her character, Terry, as a “good girl,” who’s smart and educated, but doesn’t know how to interact with men. She foregoes medical school to do an internship with Bronson at his record company because she has been in love with him for a long time. Betancourt, with a theater background, was new to acting in film. So she related to her character, Terry, because she was coming into the music world not knowing anything about it. Betancourt said her character reflects what many women go through when seeking an authentic relationship with a guy who can’t make up his mind about what he wants. “Terry hopes for the romance, which a lot of women do in real life. In #LoveSwag, Terry blossoms with the help of her friend, Char played by Anica Barbosa. Barbosa is originally from the Cape Verde islands, and moved to the U.S. when she was a teenager. Acting from a young age, after college graduation she moved to L.A. later auditioning for #LoveSwag and landing a role. “It was an exciting project,” Barbosa said. “When I was booked for the role, I was so nervous. The four of us got very close. I remember helping each other practice some of the scenes. I was the one who lived closest to some of the locations that we shot. So they would come over on off days or after we’ve been shooting. We were all fairly new in the industry, so we helped each other.” Barbosa said her character of advice-giving Char “is really a lot like me.” “Most of my friends told me they brought you in to play you,” she said. “That is who I
am. The advice I was giving to the other characters, the really quirky things. Really my personality.” Barbosa said the chemistry you see between the four main actors in the film is real. “It’s probably the most fun job I’ve done to date,” she said. Barbosa also added that Allison was supportive in the process. “Kevin and his wife are amazing,” she said. “They’ve been really wonderful throughout my career.” Barbosa said a lesson of #LoveSwag is that “Love sneaks up on you and it’s something that comes at times when you least expect it.” She continued, “Here’s this tough guy, and this odd girl that comes into his life. Everybody comes in your life for a reason. And everything that happens is for a reason, I believe. Barbosa represented her country, the Cape Verde Islands in the “Queen Of The Universe Pageant 2015.” Along with a role in the upcoming film, Fair Chase, starring Tom Sizemore and Eric Roberts, she is involved in a lot of charity work for children in Cape Verde. Much of the comic relief in the film is provided by Trouble, played by Charles Mathers. The Louisiana native and graduate of Southern University relocated to L.A in 2005. He was asked to audition for #LoveSwag and it seemed the character of Trouble was a natural fit. Mathers said Allison allowed the cast to have input regarding their roles. “Kevin definitely let us improv,” he said. “He trusted us to come up with a little something. We had fun doing it.” The comedic actor said he didn’t have to look far for inspiration for his character. “I would say my cousin was like Trouble when we were growing up,” Mathers said. “He was the bigger cousin always doing something and I was always trying to follow behind him. He always had a scheme to get a girl, and it never worked. Trouble is someone coming up with crazy ideas to get the girl.” He joked that #LoveSwag offers “Everyone needs love and a hug at the end of the day.” But also said the film shows being honest is the best way to try to look cool. Mathers is currently doing behind the scenes work in the financial side of filmmaking regarding accounts and investors, which includes the upcoming horror film, Killville.

Opposites attract. Hybrid looks for men are on trend with a mix of influences from the 1970s and 90s, both formal-casual and sporty-chic: long coats, cool parkas and close-fitting short jackets, knitted pullovers and hoodies, shirts and print shirts. Retro colours such as green, grey and brown are on the fashion map for 2016, as are patterns: striking prints, embroidery and structures bring a breath of fresh air for men and are hipper than ever.

Cool outerwear: Well bundled up for autumn a nd winter – whether in urban hotspots or in the country: long coats and close-fitting short jackets will get people safely through the cold season of the year. This is certainly the case with LangerChan. For autumn/winter 2016/17, the label will present cool parkas and relaxed sporty silhouettes as well as boxy short jackets in a military style. Subtle details and colours such as reed green make the outerwear a strikingly masculine eyecatcher.

Hip Hop Hooray: Hip hop and streetwear from the 1990s are experiencing a revival: casualness meets style. Labels such as Recolution present relaxed hoodies and sweats. From a staple to a trendsetter – simple casual pieces are currently incredibly fashionable again and so much more than just boring basics.
Simplicity: The trend towards a new kind of simplicity is also present in shirts. The smarter, the cooler. Tonein-tone mélange and details such as elaborate washes and innovative seam tracking make the simple pieces, such as those presented by Trevor’s Choice by Daily’s, very special. And more striking prints can of course be seen here and there. The sporty looks give an especially cool impression when they are broken up.

Closed textile loops, resource-saving production, recycling and upcycling are the key words of the moment. The labels at the Ethical Fashion Show explain exactly how they implement these ideas in the form of their own individual concepts. STORYBOARD ARTIST
GIUSEPPE CRISTIANO
HOLLYWOOD WEEKLY 29
G
iuseppe Cristiano one of the most sought after and booked Storyboard Artist worldwide. He is a former comic artist and scriptwriter who has been drawing storyboards for almost two decades. He freelance for advertising agencies and film production companies Worldwide. Over the years he has written and internationally published several books and manuals in the subject. His seven titles, makes him the one who has written the most books about Storyboarding in the World. His books are currently used in Colleges and Film Schools World Wide where he occasionally also teaches. His experience varies from Animation, Music Video, Advertising, Feature Film, Video Games, Events and more. He also produces concept art, design, illustrations for print and magazines. What is Storyboarding Giuseppe?
An invisible art, if you will, that is mostly seen by few, people refers to storyboard as the comic strip of the script. But it’s more to it than that, Storyboard is visualizing, yes but it also includes everything that the script doesn’t. For example the transitions between scenes are never depicted in the text, merely a “cut to” and the storyboard artist needs to figure out how to translate that “cut to” in the smartest possible way. Actions are described in the script when there is not even a location. One will have to figure them out from scratch. Positions, composition, movements, format, mood, direction of scene and so forth it’s never contained in the script which at times needs to be even re-written or adapted to make better sense. Plot holes sometimes are discovered during the storyboarding process. Why would you say Storyboarding is so essential in a production?
Not long ago I was contacted by a Producer for a job. The young director involved had lots of ideas for a shot but they needed to get some facts 30 HOLLYWOOD WEEKLY

down in order to get the production moving in any direction. A meeting was arranged in a rush because time was of an essence and the client needed to see something. Now “clients” are usually not film-people, they have no clue what you are talking about and a visionary director doesn’t really tell them much. A producer on the other hand needs to do cost calculations and visions, dances, shapes and art doesn’t really sell it. About an hour in the meeting we didn’t really do much and I totally understood the frustration of everybody involved. The fact is, everybody want do movies today. Everyone thinks they have got what it takes. Everything around us makes things look easier than they are. But twenty years and counting in the business I realized that there are a lot of filmmaking aspects still unknown even to production people. One of this is in fact the “storyboarding process”. . ( Pls highlight on the side as well )Probably one of the most important aspect of the production and yet so few takes advantage of what this tool can offer. It can save production time, cut on expenses, plan the shooting, re-structure scripts, find investors, work on complicate sequences, improve the action, pre-visualize effects, coordinate teams, help with logistics, sell an idea, and the list goes on. All of this for merely a small cost but of which many producers are still scared. Does the market in Europe vs U.S view Storyboarding differently?
When setting the budget and you need savings, the first thing producers cut out is the Storyboard simply because they don’t know how important it is. Unfortunately this is the reality for many of the production companies in Europe while in the US, storyboards are used for everything that is production. One would wonder, what does the director do then? Can’t he figure it out without the storyboard artist?
Possibly, some directors are quite skilled and they actually do their own storyboards but they often don’t have time for it. The director directs the film first with the artist and together they previsualize it in order to find the best entertaining way to tell the story. A second opinion, sometimes a brainstorming will improve a sequence, ideas to blend into the mix. The storyboard artist in
