A LETTER From The Editor Dear Readers, October comes with such excitement this year for “The Hollywood Weekly.” There are so many exciting events and meaningful stories filling up the pages of our “No Gossip, Strictly Entertainment” publication. We are proud to continue our tradition of giving you the facts; never embellishments, about real life in Hollywood. This month, we introduce you to admirable people who help make our city truly one-in-a-million. We start off with music legend Quincy Jones.... we love him! The long time supporter of the arts was honored at a star-studded party for his continous efforts to care for aging jazz performers. Naturally, his close buddy Morgan Freeman was there to celebrate. Then, we’ve got our favorite “America’s Got Talent” host Nick Cannon; we don’t know how he has the time, but the busy entertainer is now the spokesman for a family-friendly website called Kuboo. com. All the fun details on this child-appropriate virtual world are inside! We also introduce you to the World Food Championships in Las Vegas! One very talented food maestro is going to take home the honor of “best chef,” along with all the frills that Vegas is famous for.... you know, fame, fortune and celebrity clients. Then we’ve got the ‘Midas-Touch’ realtor, D. Lorenzo. This Rodeo Realty agent offers her clients thorough experience that’s allowed her to turn challenging economic times into million-dollar investment opportunities. Plus, we even introduce you to a trio of talented ladies who have created a stir in Los Angeles with their IndieExhibit gift items! Swag anyone? Dios Lorenzo:
A Real Estate Professional Turning Properties into Properous Investments L.A.’S Navigator Through The Challenging Real Estate Market Shares Her Secrets To Great Financial Success. By Jenny Werth
W
hen Dios walks into a room, people turn around and watch. She has a certain presence that commands your attention; a mix of assured-confidence and attractive charm. It’s obvious why her real estate clients consider her one of their most important advisors. Her deep understanding of LA’s volatile real estate market is thorough and of great importance. Few Real Estate Professionals have been able to keep a firm grasp and confidant view of the ever-changing market, let alone maintain a thriving career. You add these two unusual factors together, and the result is Dios Lorenzo. Despite America’s tragic economic depression, she continues to guide multi-millionaires toward incredible abundance.
so unique is her “by-chance career” in real estate. She was working as a paralegal on a commercial broker’s divorce when she was offered a job as the executive assistant at a brokerage firm. This chance-job changed Dios Lorenzo’s life. She seized the new opportunity and got her real estate license. And although she joined a sea of realtors in this City of Angels, she quickly rose to the top. And on the top she has remained.
With great humility, she acknowledges the rarity it is to be thriving in real estate in this economy. But, her expertise and exceptional client service is one that investors, buyers and sellers most need in this market. It’s no wonder they both rely and appreciate her extraordinary guidance. She produces favorable results for her clientele time and again. Indeed, her clients are like her family always looking out fot their best interests..
Stores closed; owners filed for bankruptcy; automobile plants failed; foreclosure notices became a sad and common ‘sign-of-the-times;’ and real estate went into total havoc. For many of us, life had become a test. A virtual “survival of the fittest” job field became commonplace, and very few were able to maintain their jobs, let alone their homes. Suddenly people began frequenting pawn shops to sell their jewelry while title car loan shops replaced failed mom-and-pop store fronts.
“It feels so good to know some of my clients turn into such close friends, they become so special to me.” So, it’s of little surprise that Dios Lorenzo is one of the most valuable and productive real estate agents at Beverly Hill’s Rodeo Realty firm. Born in Mexico City, the bilingual Real Estate Advisor has called LA home for the last 27 years. What makes this dynamo 6 - Hollywood WEEKLY
“I closed about $7 million in real estate deals within a couple of months of obtaining my license.” But then, the market collapsed. And from there the worst depression since the Great Depression stripped nearly everyone from life as they had known it.
However, Dios Lorenzo thrived. How you may ask; how could this new realtor continue to survive in such a volatile and complicated market place? After spending time with Dios Lorenzo, one word stands out: strength. This is a woman who simply will not give up, nor allow the seemingly impossible circumstances of our troubled times intimidate her. Truth be told, it seems nothing can stand in the way of this powerhouse realtor. Dios Lorenzo perseveres. In fact, Dios Lorenzo epitomizes perseverance. When asked where she finds her confidence and strength, Dios Lorenzo says, “ Focusing on the positive and the great potential that anything is possible gives me strength and confidence.” But, there is much more inside this woman than
When asked where she finds her confidence and strength, Dios Lorenzo says, “ focusing on the positive and the great potential that anything is possible.”
confidence; there is passion. She is dead-set on guiding her clients to a pathway of success. She is not detoured by the constant stream of real estate tragedy; quite the opposite, she stands up to the current situation without allowing emotions to get in the way of fact. “Properties have the greatest potential when the property owners are emotionally detached and are ready to sell or lease AND understand that the real estate market is the one that dictates the value of the property (and) NOT their emotional attachment. It’s this kind of business-savvy that keeps her successful. In fact, in the wake of the dizzying market challenges, Dios Lorenzo said the answer to surviving is “working harder, advertising more and seizing the opportunity when it’s there.” Close to 70-percent of real estate agents quickly closed up shop when the depression hit. A true Real Estate Professional’s value is best measured in today’s market. The quick ‘fly-by-night’ agents who made fast money were also just as fast to take off when times got tough. The days of overnight-fortunes waiting at the
close of escrow no longer apply; in its place are hardworking real estate agents with strong ideals and an even stronger sense of ethics. Dios Lorenzo has all of these attributes. The facts tell the story. Few blink an eye anymore when they’re told about someone’s sad story. Everyone seems to know someone who has lost their home or is about to lose it. Most people seem to know someone who has been battling with the bank for a loan modification for years. And the overwhelming majority of people are scared of the unknown future. That’s where Dios Lorenzo comes in. When she was only eleven years old, her parents told her she could either work or study. She listened to the options and made the choice to succeed at both. It’s in her veins, and fortunately, she’s more than happy to share her experience with you. She can steer you through these times with courage, loyalty, truth and great strength. Please call Dios Lorenzo at (818) 720-2352 or email her at DiosLorenzo@aol.com

llen DeGeneres received the 2,477th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame recently. The beloved Ellen was honored for entertaining audiences as a talk show host, comedian, prime-time television star and the voice of Dory, a regal tang with shortterm memory loss in the Pixar animated film “Finding Nemo.”
as outstanding talk show while DeGeneres has won four as outstanding talk show host.
“American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest and ABC late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel joined DeGeneres in front of the W Hollywood Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard.
DeGeneres then moved to Los Angeles, taping her first HBO special, “The Young Comedians All-Star Reunion” in 1986. Also in 1986, DeGeneres became the first female comedian to be summoned by Johnny Carson to come to the guest couch after making her debut stand-up performance on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.”
“I’m so excited to be inducted into the Walk of Fame,” DeGeneres wrote on her show’s Facebook page four days after it was announced she would be receiving a star. “I always thought people liked my dancing best. I guess my walk is pretty good too.” The ceremony came six days before the start of the 10th season of her nationally syndicated afternoon talk show, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” which has six Daytime Emmy Awards
DeGeneres’ career began as an emcee at a comedy club in her hometown of New Orleans. Her videotaped club performances won her Showtime’s “Funniest Person in America” honor in 1982.
DeGeneres began her acting career portraying a man-hungry receptionist on the Fox comedy “Open House,” which ran in the 1989-90 season. In 1992, DeGeneres played flaky nurse Nancy MacIntyre on the ABC comedy “Laurie Hill,”
which aired for four episodes before being canceled. Its creators Neal Marlens and Carol Black, went on to create “These Friends of Mine,” which debuted in 1994 and starred DeGeneres. It was retitled “Ellen” in its second season and ran until 1998. The series made television history in 1997 when DeGeneres’ character came out as a lesbian shortly after she did the same in real life. DeGeneres received four Primetime Emmy nominations as outstanding lead actress in a comedy series for “Ellen,” and shared an Emmy for outstanding writing for a comedy series for “The Puppy Episode” when her character came out as a lesbian. DeGeneres also starred in the CBS comedy “The Ellen Show,” which ran in the 2001-2002 season, hosted the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2001 and 2005, the Academy Awards in 2007 and was a judge on the Fox singing competition “American Idol” for the 2010 season.

aking a spin on your average late night talk show is Moonlight Conversations. Moonlight Conversations is a late night talk show with a ‘round table’ concept that is planning to launch in January 2013. Southern California native, Perry Sagliocco, is the mastermind behind the show. Sagliocco is a graduate from California State University, San Diego and was also in the United States Navy. Sagliocco is also a skilled musician that specializes in piano, violin, saxophone, clarinet, and trumpet. I guess it’s safe to say he is a ‘jazz lover.’ He also has a background in many phases of television such as production and management and is now ready to take on a different approach by getting in front of the camera. Influenced by late night talk show hosts such as Carson Daly and Tom Snyder, Sagliocco would like to test out his luck by offering his take on reality, entertainment, and all this relative to today. “I want to take on a more personal approach, so celebrities will feel more free and liberal to talk and speak their mind,’ says Sagliocco, ‘Moonlight Conversations is going to be a fun and relaxing show that is geared towards everyone in film and television.”
Moonlight Conversations will consist of Sagliocco as the host and his two co-hosts Kristin Myers and Yenitza Munoz that will assist with the celebrity appearances and backstage production. Celebrities are invited to join the team and discuss any topic that you’d like - every person has a story so why not share it. Moonlight Conversations is a late night television show that is produced by Cool Wolf Productions. The World’s Best Culinary Gurus Gamble 14 - Hollywood WEEKLY
C
ulinary tastes from around the world surround us today; all kinds of delicious foods are commonplace in today’s restaurants. From mainstream American food and circulating sushi bars, to Indian cuisine; we’ve become a society that is used to having a plethora of options for dinner. Reality shows with stressed-out chefs compete for the title of “best,” while we watch entrée after entrée being tasted by discriminating judges. And now, the recipe stakes just got a lot higher. The World Food Championships held in Las Vegas next month is taking the world by eating-storm. And it is increasing the already incredible selection of food that’s offered throughout the country. And as we well known from the ‘best chef reality shows,’ there’s a lot more to creating an excellent dish than just cooking it; there’s background, technique and, of course, the food’s presentation. “In a day and age when there are so many culinary competitions — ranging from contests of taste to those of technique — The World Food Championships will be the ultimate food competition,” says host Adam Richman. “It will be the biggest stage in the cooking competition world, where every beloved food from around the globe and everyone from professionals to amateur enthusiasts can come to take their shot at the title and prove that they have what it takes to be the best.” Which bring us to some very serious questions: are you a food-lover; I mean, a real food aficionado? Are you constantly in search for that one exquisitely refined taste, not only for consumption but also for study purposes? Do you love the preparation and background, learning of science, industry and personalities surrounding food? If you answered yes to any of these questions then we urge you to make it to this yummy event! The World Food Championships will be held November 1st through the 4th in the spectacular Bally’s Hotel right on Vegas’ main strip. “The World Food Championships is unlike any culinary event

The four-day food festival and cooking competition will feature the best-of-the-best squaring off in multiple food categories. Famous chefs, hometown cooks, and professional competition teams, all armed with their top-secret best recipes, secret sauces, and savvy techniques, will battle for the world title and a prize purse of $300,000. Host Adam Richman is a well-known television personality, culinary expert, and author. Best known for his role on the Travel Channel’s “Man vs. Food: Nation,” he relishes a role that allows him to become the viewer’s ambassador to all things decadent and delicious. As a host for the event, Richman will guide event participants and a general audience through each level of the competition. Guests will also be able to get up-close and personal with Richman at some of the featured events. As we’ve all watched, the sport of ‘competition food’ has grown into an entity entirely of its own. Around the world there are recipe challenges, barbecue festivals, cook-offs, and other food competitions that take place annually. These competitions have grabbed the attention and imagination of millions of fans, enthusiasts, and interested viewers. So, it’s of little surprise that all these exciting challenges have resulted in the ‘ultimate showdown,’ the World Food Championships. Everyone knows the competitors will give you and your taste buds an extraordinary show! “Every major professional sport features a world-title competition to declare the best-of-the-best,” explains Mike McCloud, President of Trybe Targeting. “This culinary showdown in Las Vegas will settle, once and for all, who is the best among amateur and professional chefs and cooks who compete each year in thousands of food competitions and contests across America.” The World Food Championships will take place at three of Caesars Entertainment properties: Bally’s Las Vegas, Paris, and of course Caesars Palace. Over the four-day event, a variety of different competitions will take over sin city! The categories are as follows: World Barbecue Championship, World Open Chili Championship, World Burger Championship, World Recipe Championship, World Sandwich Championship, World Side-Dish Championship, World Chef Challenge, and the Final Table. First off is the World Barbecue Championship! One hundred of the best barbecue chefs and cooks will throw down and duke it out in the competition square for a prize purse of $50,000. This challenge will bring 48 of the best chefs worldwide under one roof to battle in a head-tohead tournament for a share of $50,000 and a space reserved for them and their signature dish at the Final Table. It all comes down to the competition of The Final Table. Throughout the days of the competition, chefs will be found competing for a spot for this very day! Hundreds of the best will cook at the World Food Championship, but only seven will compete at the Final Table for the title. Adam Richman and a panel of celebrity judges will have to dig deep and determine who walks away with a share of the $75,000 cash prize, a giant trophy, and the title of ‘World Food Champion.’ Throughout the duration of the competition, various VIP events will also take place. Kicking off the event is a poolside party with none other than the host himself, Adam Richman along with other celebrities. It promises to be an unforgettable meet-and-greet extravaganza. The VIPs will also have the honor of enjoying Vegas-style tastings and even learn culinary secrets from the pros. This event will come complete with the perfect custom-designed cocktail for pairing the world-class cuisine. Plus, it will also feature a silent auction to benefit one of Vegas’ important charities, ‘Keep Memory Alive.’ On Friday night, VIPs are able to enjoy and judge the first ‘World Burger Extravaganza.’ This event will feature celebrities and their burger creations. Loosen your belt and get ready for a BBQ tasting experience that you won’t soon forget on Friday and Saturday afternoons. All fans of food will be able to taste championship ribs in an array of flavors such as: KC sweet and tangy, Carolina vinegar, Memphis style, or Hot & Spicy. Akwa Ibom:
Holly wood Week ly honors
His Excellency Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio Celebrates 25 Years of Akwa Ibom State
A
s a result of our contract with E4 PR to profile African talent back here in Hollywood, we at “Hollywood Weekly” are proud to present to you our second African talent collaboration with E4 PR, honouring a State in Nigeria called Akwa Ibom State and its visionary leader, His Excellency Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio. In May 2012, we collaborated with E4 PR to publish our first African edition celebrating Nollywood’s four African superstars, Desmond Elliott, Monalisa Chinda, Jackie Appiah and Joseph Benjamin. Egor Efiok, the CEO of E4 PR, provided all the literature, giving us very detailed information about each of the four superstars, of Nollywood and about Africa in general. In our filmed interview with Egor Efiok after the success of our Nollywood issue, one of the questions we asked her was whether the Entertainment industry gets support from the Nigerian government and she agreed in the affirmative and went on to particularly mention the Governor of Akwa Ibom State as a great sponsor and how he has single handedly supported Nollywood and the African Entertainment industry through hosting different star studded Nollywood film premieres at the Cineplex of the Tropicana Entertainment Center in Akwa Ibom State. Governor Akpabio is widely regarded as the best governor in Nigeria and in 2010 he appeared on CNN’s Becky Anderson’s international program, “Connect your world.” In 2011, Ms. Sheila Jackson Lee, a member of the 18th Congressional District of Texas, presented to Governor Akpabio, a Certificate of Congressional Recognition. She described Akpabio “as a shining example of leadership, truly worthy of respect, admiration and commendation of the United States Congress.” The governor’s wife, Her Excellency Mrs Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, also got an award for her Family Life Enhancement Initiative, which has touched widows, women, poverty and the disabled. We have also learned many interesting facts about the State through the Uncommon Transformation Television Series and the beautiful tourist attractions such as Ibeno Natural Sand Beach which is located in the Ibeno Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria. It is said to be an outstanding natural tourist attraction and is reputed to be the longest sand beach in West Africa which stretches over 90 kilometers of natural white sand with 2 kilometres stretch of beach line. The Akwa Ibom State Government have also built Le Meridien Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort, the first hotel in the middle of an African Rain Forest with one of the most beautiful golf course in Africa with tournaments that have hosted golfing stars such as Mr. Collin Montgomerie, the Scottish Britain No1; Retif Goose, South African No 1; Ms Nancy Lopez, South African former world’s ladies best. What particularly touched us however, was Governor Akpabio’s charity work with children. He is the only Niger Deltan Governor in Nigeria that has declared free, compulsory and qualitative Education in both primary and secondary schools as far back as 2007 and he has sustained it as his flagship policy on education. We were however quite concerned by the ‘child witchcraft’ videos we watched on globalmediaeuropeint on YouTube and it was very heart warming to know that those innocent children that were maltreated and falsely accused of witchcraft have a Governor like Akpabio, watching out for them. He has rehabilitated them and built a reformation centre to educate them and reunite them with their families. We here at Hollywood Weekly, are very big on the protection of children, which is the reason why almost all our pet projects have to do with children and we have the entire Hollywood supporting us on this. Well done to Ata Ikiddeh for the valuable information he provided on globalmediaeuropeint on You Tube. We have also been informed that Akwa Ibom State recently celebrated its 25th Silver Jubilee Anniversary on the 23rd of September, 2012, and to honour His Excellency Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio, for his excellent work with children, his support of Nollywood and African Entertainment, and his Infrastructural Development of Akwa Ibom State, Hollywood Weekly Magazine Awards (HWMA) are honouring him with this award: Best Governor For His Support Of Nollywood And African Entertainment. The award will be presented to Governor Akpabio at our star studded red carpet event hosted for the American Music Awards on the 17th of November, 2012, right here at our Sunset Gower Studios. We would like to celebrate 25 years of Akwa Ibom State by publishing the speech below by Governor Akpabio titled: Being a State of Akwa Ibom Address Delivered by His Excellency Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, at the Town Hall meeting of Akwa Ibom Citizens in the Diaspora, in Houston, Texas, USA. 18 - Hollywood WEEKLY
I
thank you for the great privilege of addressing you today; and I bring to you from the land of your birth, the warm greetings and love of your fathers and mothers, sisters and brothers, uncles and nieces, friends and colleagues. It is worthy of note that in spite of the millions of miles which seperate you from the resting place of our ancestors, the flame of your love for our state has not flickered. Our forefathers had a wise saying, “No matter how high the eagle flies, her legs will keep pointing to the earth”. And we are happy that your legs, heads and hearts are pointed to Akwa Ibom State, despite the distance and how high you have soared. Some of you may not have been home in a long time, but we do not hold it against you because the ancient English proverb has it that “absence makes the heart grow fonder”. We pray that your long absence will make your heart grow fonder of our state, and at the same time pull the strings of your emotions so that you will come and see the glorious happenings in our fatherland. But for those who may not be able to visit home in the immediate future, we urge you to keep assisting your people back home, because in this way you become our partners in our unrelenting fight to improve the welfare of our dear people. But when you come, we advise you to find a tour guide in order to avoid getting lost - especially if you have not been home in more than five years. As you may be aware, our state is so transformed that if you were to bet with someone that you could still find your way home without help, you would lose your hard-earned money. This may sound preposterous, but it is no joke. When Philip told Nathaneal that he had met the Messiah and that it was Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Nathaneal, asked “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth”? Philip did not enter into any argument with him, he simply advised him “Come and see.” The 2007 Election which led to our emergence, signposted a rallying cry for us to rebuild the walls of our state. In an election in which more than 65 aspirants (some of these favoured and sponsored by the government of the day), contested the primary election with me, I emerged victorious
The Story of Uncommon Transformation
By Godswill Obot Akpabio
because my candidature typified Akwa Ibom rennaisance and was a mass movement of Akwa Ibom people. From every nook and cranny of the state, people showed up for us and some slept in the rain and in the sun in an exercise which the rules sometimes changed after we understood the game. Seldom have people expressed so much hope in a man and so much enthusiasm in his election. I did not take this confidence lightly and I still remind myself every minute of the day that “to whom much is given, much is expected.” What we did in the last four years has been labelled, “uncommon transformation.” But the missing part in this description is that it (uncommon transformation) was borne out of uncommon faith in a man by an uncommon people who have an uncommon destiny. A people who have been seared in the heat of poverty, emasculated by infrastrutural paucity and staggered by self doubt in a land which had almost consigned them to second class citizenship. A people who have been cast down by man, but were not forgotten by God who in our time has made all things beautiful. Akwa Ibom people walk tall and proud because the state has now become the toast of Nigeria and a perfect example that democracy works. Our state has become the preferred destination for conferences in Nigeria. But let me pause here and give you a sampler of what we did in the last four yours.
Education You are aware that after salvaging the bad situation of the Jews in the Yom Kippur War, Richard Nixon said that when Israeli prime minister, Golda Meir, made the plea to him on phone, he remembered that his mother once told him while reading him Hebrew stories, that if the Jews ever needed his help, he should not hesitate to help them. He concluded by saying that perhaps God made him president just to salvage the Jews in their days of need. Having lost my father when I was six months, and raised by a struggling widow, I missed a year of schooling because my mother could not afford the fees for all of us. And I decided in those dark days of despair that if God ever made me Governor, I will make sure that all poor children go to school free. And perhaps God made me Governor just so that our poor children can go to school . When we marked the first anniversary of this policy , I said that we were not celebrating the victory of politics or the triumph of administrative policy, but we were celebrating the success of common sense and the destruction forever of the houseboy/housegirl syndrome. Our investment in education encompasses a massive rehabilitation of all primary and secondary schools in our state. We have so far spent over forty billion Naira on revamping the educational sector. But this money
represents both a source of joy and a basis for apprehension. Joy that so many people are in school, and apprehension because if the proper educational and examination values and ethics are not maintained in these schools, then we are undertaking an investment which would not yield the desired social dividends. The policy objective of this administration is to produce a very vibrant, literate and well-focused population in the next five to ten years. To this end we have undertaken the following programs. • Free, compulsory and qualitative education from primary to senior secondary school level. To ensure the elimination of fees of all kinds, we pay subvention to primary school head teachers at a hundred Naira per pupil per term and to secondary school principals at three hundred Naira per student per term. • Massive rehabilitation and construction of educational infrastructure. We have built over 500 new classroom blocks and rehabilitated over 1,500 others. We have built/constructed over 500 classroom blocks, dormitories and laboratories across the state and rehabilitated about 1,800 others. • Employment of teachers and the absorption of 1,000 primary school teachers who were initially employed for a Federal Government Universal Basic Education scheme.
Child Rights and Protection: Conscious of the need to ensure the protection of the rights of our children, we enacted the Child Rights and Protection Law 2008.This law was meant to safeguard our children’s rights and protect them from social vices including sexual abuse, child prostitution and witchcraft stigmatization. As a government, we have striven to ensure that abandoned children are catered for. We have built and we maintain Child Welfare Centres, and courtesy of my wife and our First Lady, the state today has an ultra-modern reformation centre for children. And when the news of the stigmatization of our children was brought to our notice, we promptly set up a Judicial Panel of Inquiry to investigate the matter. The Commission recently concluded its assignment and submitted its report, which is being considered by Government. Health We see healthcare not only as a goal of development, but as the right of individuals and the means to achieve the related goals of higher labour productivity. Our health investment in AkwaIbom State is focused on ten major policy areas. These are: • Health infrastructural development • Health manpower development and training • Provision of drugs and equipment • HIV/AIDS prevention and control • Roll Back Malaria
• Aggressive Immunization Campaigns for Infants and Mothers. • Integrated Maternal, NewBorn and Child Health • Free medical treatment for pregnant women, children five years and under and the elderly • Improved Staff Welfare Scheme • Effective Service delivery.
We inherited health structures which were in a general state of decay, prompting many of our citizens to shun hospitals. Not only did we improve our healthcare structures, we built five new cottage hospitals. In addition we are building another tertiary health institution in the “20th Anniversary Specialist Hospital”. In a bid to fight mortality among infants and mothers, we established free medical treatment for these groups. Aided by this, we have been able to reduce the infant mortality rate and the maternal mortality rate by 75 percent and well below the national average. We also have free medical treatment for our senior citizens. Electricity In the last four years we have completed the electrification of 1,400 communities This has raised electricity coverage in the state to 85 percent. Our target is to achieve a hundred percent coverage before the end of this term in office. You will appreciate this more when you realise that the African average is about five percent, and the national average is put at 17 percent . We have not only hooked these communities up to the national grid ,we have installed transformers to service these communities and had since handed them over to the Power Holding Company of Nigeria. In the same vein, I am proud to inform you that the First Phase of the 191 megawatts ofour Independent Power Plant located at Ikot Abasi, has since been completed and over 40MW of power from the plant is currently released to the national grid and is being utilized in parts of the state. We believe that with the expected deregulation of the power sector, we will soon have uninterrupted power supply in our state. Roads The transformation of our state in terms of road construction has been one of our most hailed accomplishments. So far we have tarred 211 roads covering over 700 km throughout the state and built several bridges and constructed three concentric flyovers in the state . The flyovers are so beautiful that I am certain that you would not resist the urge of taking pictures there when you visit home. Airport and Aviation Development The story of the development of the Ibom International Airport is an interesting one. When we assumed office in 2007, we met an airport project which technical evaluation placed continued on page 23 october

The three ladies who brought you
indiExhibit
20 - Hollywood WEEKLY
By Jenny Werth
T
hree’s a charm for these ladies. The indiexhibit is an organization that represents independent artisans and creatives at the best celebrity gift lounges in Hollywood. If you are looking to elevate your brand through celebrity gifting, then this is the group that can help! The indiexhibit is an elite group of artists, designers, crafters, and jewelers from around the globe who have come together to promote their work collectively. Behind the name is a simple yet powerful meaning; Indie short for independent, which means in order to be a part of their group you have to be an independent artist by starting out trying to make a name for themselves by promotion activities. Exhibit meaning ‘to showcase’, by joining the ‘simple’ words together you get ‘the indiexhibit,’ which is a powerful statement that has now become a strong movement. Through Zazzle, Kerry White met Shannon Justice, the founder and president of the indiexhibit, in 2007. Kerry as well as a few other ‘Zazzlers’ helped and supported Shannon by creating the IndiExhibit in 2010. Together they reached new heights alongside other independent creative artists who shared the same passion for designing. The IndiExhibit originally came together as a group of friends who had a desire
to take their talents to a higher level by targeting key publics and an audience. The indiexhibit has been on a mission to introduce Hollywood to high end, luxurious, creative products by participating in Hollywood gifting suites. By participating and focusing their efforts on gifting suites these independent business owners not only have the chance to meet and mingle with celebrities, but they have the chance to interact with industry leaders, key members

of the press, and trendsetters. Their first event was the 2010 ESPY Awards. “It has definitely been a learning experience that wouldn’t have been possible without each and every one of us, collectively we have helped each other and have formed such a strong bond,’ says Shannon, ‘we are more than a company, we ARE a family.” The results of their hard work and close bonds have created a close-knit brand of talented individuals. A ‘brand’ who has flourished and now creates an
impressive and unique presence in the Hollywood community. Through artists’ websites such as zazzle and etsy and also with word of mouth communication, the indiExhibit has grown to about 130 members. Each artist having a deeper desire to take their craft to new heights has done so through the indiexhibit. “It is sort of like a learning experience,” says Shannon, “the more you do these events the better you get at it.” With the help of Kerry White and Kathy Adalian who serve as her assistants and the east and west coast representatives for the group the indiexhibit have taken part in other gifting suites such as: Golden Globes, Sundance Film Festival, Kids Choice Awards, MTV Movie Awards, Emmy Awards, American Music Awards, and many others. At the gifting suites the indiexhibit showcases an array of handcrafted products including: jewelry, bath, and spa products, artwork, apparel, toys, and much more. Encouraging others to get involved with their craft and passion the indiexhibit are always welcoming new members that are wanting to take their work to a higher level. More than just a group of artists, the indiexhibit is a close knit community who truly cares about its members by promoting not only themselves but each other as well, october

back. In the past they have participated in various non-profit organizations and campaigns such as the “I Choose”, anti-bullying campaign. They have also played a key role in various fundraisers generated to increase awareness over world wide issues such as the ‘Enchanted Makeovers’, which was for abused and under privileged inner city girls. They have created and donated a skateboard deck that was signed by celebrities and auctioned off for VH1’s Save the Music Foundation. Last year the IndiExhibit event which donated gift boxes to the ‘Tee Off For a Cause Fundraiser’ to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project! Always giving back the indiexhibit has partnered with Susan G. Koman for the Cure for an event which will span September and October, which is ‘Breast Cancer Awareness’ month. “Most of us have been touched by cancer in one way or another,” says Kerry, “it’s just nice to be active and give back”. The indiexhibit plans to have multiple products at the 22 - Hollywood WEEKLY
event, but one in particular is a clutch covered in swarovski stones that are pink and silver in honor of survivors and attendees. The clutch has been autographed by celebrities and will be up for auction. Starting October 1st, every day the indiexhibit will have a new item on ebay that will be up for auction. All proceeds gathered from the indiexhibit will then be donated to the Susan G. Koman Foundation in hopes to aide in the search for a cure to breast cancer. For a complete list of all of the items the indiexhibit will place on ebay you can check www.theindiexhibit.org Originally the idea to partner with Koman has been brewing since January 2012. “I just really wanted to work with and raise money for

Seeing this as the perfect opportunity to make their mark, the heads of the indiexhibit felt as if knowing it was going towards cancer research-it was something that everyone could feel very good and inspired about. So far the team is very confident and thrilled that this event will kick off their charity program, which is to pair a charity with
every gifting lounge the indiexhibit participates in. Their next charity is the ‘Save the Music’ program in November. “We help each other and encourage our members to push themselves; people tend to ‘find’ themselves through a creative outlet”, says Kerry, “You need the support find people that understand you and get you.” Recently the indiexhibit has paired with RAW: natural born artists which are an independent arts organization built upon the concept ‘for artists, by artists’. RAW is composed of: art, fashion, music, film, hair, makeup, photographers and others. They are a community made up of about 10,000 creative individuals across the nation whose mission is to provide artists within the first 10 years of their career with the correct tools, resources, and exposure needed to become successful. The indiexhibit is truly a gem and is a group of artists and crafters from around the world that contribute their products to Hollywood gift lounges for exposure to each individual’s products. The indiexhibit serves as a central hub for various artists to come together and creatively perfect their craft and benefit from the support of their fellow creatives. The indiexhibit looks for a variety of independent artists to represent! To become a member you would have to fill out a simple application. The cool thing about the group is they accept all kinds of creative talents and products. So join today and get ready to elevate your brand through celebrity gifting. Akwa Ibom: continued from page 19
at ten percent level of completion. Because we understood the importance of the project for Akwa Ibom people, we took it on and pursued it to its logical conclusion. Let me announce to you that today, you have a completed international airport with 3.6 km runway, first class facilities and aviation aids. Your airport is playing host to domestic and international flights. Last year we commenced international flights with the airlift of over 1,000 pilgrims to Ben-Gurion International Airport, Tel Aviv, Israel. We have succeeded in stamping our state on the global aviation map. And let me at the same breath, commend His Excellency Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga, the Chairman of the project and his team for doing a difficult job well and making us proud. The state’s investment in the airport was boosted by feasibility studies which used the West African aviation industry as its study area. Based on these feasibility studies, Government sought to provide a hangar facility which would cater for and exceed the aviation needs of the West African region. A rmed with our studies, the State wrote to the Presidency and obtained an approval to build and operate a national hangar. We are putting together a state-of-the-art hangar with the most modern and most sophisticated equipment which will meet our aviation goals and that of the West African sub region for years to come ,and it is capable of maintaining two Boeing 747 and/or four Boeing 737 simultaneously. The maintenance capability will cover A, B, C and D checks on aircrafts. We have trained 251 staff in the best universities and aviation institutions in the world on various disciplines including avionics, power plant and airframe, maintenance engineering, fire-fighting, aviation security, air traffic control etc. Tropicana Entertainment Centre We are also building a world class hospitality complex, Tropicana Entertainment Centre, with a galleria, Cineplex, shopping mall, 250 rooms five star hotel etc. The present hospitality infrastructure in our state cannot support our ambition to become the industrial hub in the Gulf of Guinea. Already, we have completed the Ceniplex and today, Akwa Ibom children watch movies in the Tropicana. Our intention is to use the Tropicana to drive tourism initiative and create employment for our youths. Ibom Gas Plant This project , which had since been completed, involves the construction of a 59.5km pipeline from Uquo in Esit Eket to Ibom Power Plant in Ikot Abasi. The Ibom Gas Plant will supply gas to Ibom Power Plant in the light of the obvious incapacity of Nigerian Gas Company (NGC) to meet the gas needs of the plant. The project was handled by Septa Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of Seventh Energy, a UK-based gas development company. This project wa s undertaken under “PPP” arrangement whereby the AKSG has contributed $33million down payment for gas supply to the IPP for at least one year, while
the company has invested $550million in the construction of the Gas Processing Plant. Ibom Industrial City The Ibom Industrial City will be an industrial mix of oil and gas–based support services, dockyard and watercraft repair facilities, fertilizer plant, oil refinery, gas-to-liquid projects, petrochemical industries, power plant, deep seaport, etc. In fact this promises to be a self-sustaining industrial city with schools, hospitals, shopping malls, hotels etc. It will be one of its kind in the entire continent of Africa . When fully operational we believe it would employ directly and indirectly over 100,000 people, increase the export base of the state, put the state on the oil and gas map of the world, and would open up the state as one of the gateways to the world in the Gulf of Guinea and the West African sub region. It should also be noted that the area designated for this project has the longest coastline and one of the deepest water depths of any seaport in the country. Off the coast of this water we have the most nutritious shrimps and lobsters in the world. The port would not require perennial dredging because Ibaka has a depth over 13 knots and when constructed would complement the ports at Lagos, Port Harcourt and Calabar and help boost Nigeria’s influence in the Gulf of Guinea. The water depth would allow large ocean liners to reach ashore, thereby easing congestion in Lagos and other parts, a development that would boost maritime revenue for Nigeria . Already the Federal Government has indicated interest in partnering with us on this project. Changing Our Rural Communities - The Inter-ministerial Model The Inter-ministerial direct labour committee was conceived as a fast clearing house for the expeditious execution and implementation of identified rapid impact projects that could improve the lives of the rural dwellers. I can announce to you that we have achieved a lot through it. So far, over 3000 projects have been completed with several already commissioned. The beauty of this approach is that all the 31 local government areas in the State are proud beneficiaries of over 80 projects each. We intend to pursue this initiative vigorously to ensure development is taken to all the nooks and crannies of the State. The Next Four Years The belief which drives our vision is anchored on the fact that Akwa Ibom State can and must be a better place for all Akwa Ibom people born and unborn. This article of faith inspired the renewal of our state in the past four years and will inspire us to do more in the next four years. We have demonstrated the core values of demoratic goverance and become pacesetters in our national developmental efforts. Our efforts have been appreciated at home and abroad by many frontline institutions of learning (University of Calabar, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, University of Uyo, and University
of Nigeria, Nsukka, awarding me Honorary Doctoral degrees, not to mention fellowships of polytechnics and colleges of education and others), the media (the media have awarded me several “Man of the Year” awards), foreign countries, the Church, traditional institutions etc. We are riding on a developmental momentum which is unprecedented in our state in particular and our country in general. And because the good people of our state have become the toast of the nation, they demanded that this momentum should not be lost, but that we should continue with the transformation of our state and let God’s will be done again. I accepted this sacred trust and mandate for a Second Term with great humility . Fully conscious of the faith of the people in us, we have decided to continue to commit ourselves to the cause of the people and to bind ourselves to the task of complete transformation of our state and its good people . These are some of our programs for this tenure. Conclusion Let me seize this opportunity to underscore the fact that our successes have been made possible by one of the greatest team of patriots ever assembled in our country. Time will fail me to mention all of them, but duty compels me to single out for mention the love, support and counsel of His Excellency Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga, first indigenous governor of our state, Chief Don Etiebet, member of the Board of Trustees of our Party and former minister, His Excellency, Obong Nsima Ekere, the Deputy Governor, the Rigth Honorable Sam Ikon, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr Umana Okon Umana, the Sec re tary to the State Government, His Royal Highness Obong Ekidem, the Ntisong Ibibio, members of my cabinet, and indeed all Akwa Ibom people. I commend the Akwa Ibom Diaspora Network for its support and many contributions to the success of this administration. It was in this country that its 32nd President, John Fitzerald Kennedy, sounded the legendary exhortation to the American people, “Think not what your country can do for you, think of what you can do for your country.” I charge you to think of what you can do for our state. We owe our forefathers a duty to build a great state in their honor and as proof that their labours for the creation of our state were not in vain. We owe posterity an obligation to leave behind a legacy which they would look back on and say, “Truly this was a great generation”. That is why we are making our administration of the state a turning point. And this is why we want you to come and see things for yourself and come back and tell your children about the beautiful land in Africa’s rainforest, the land of limitless opportunities, the land of our ancestor’s pride... the proud land where their ancestors were buried and the land of your birth. Tell them in the full moon and over dinner about blessed Akwa Ibom State, the land of promise. We expect them to come visiting some day. Thank you and God bless you. october

Nick Cannon
The NCredible World of
“When Much Is Given, Much Is Required”
By Jenny Werth & Anthony Ewart

N
ick Cannon is a powerhouse. With refined ease and impeccable style, he enters the stage of “America’s Got Talent” with a combined skip-in-his-step and a comfortable stroll. It’s this kind of “Nick-style” that makes him such a joy to watch. You can almost feel Americans relaxing into their sofas as Nick welcomes viewers to the NBC reality competition. He juggles more projects than most people could manage for a lifetime; and he makes it seem so easy. He makes us laugh, he provokes smiles, he gathers families together, he creates happiness, he entertains us with humility, and most recently, he’s inspiring us by keeping children safe in a parent-approved virtual world called Kuboo.com. At only 31-years-old, the husband of Mariah Carey and father to adorable boy and girl twins, Moroccan and Monroe, makes yet another grand cameo as the spokesman for a family-friendly website that offers the first totally safe environment for kids. Finally, parents will be given control of a wonderful, child-appropriate virtual world filled with countless games, activities and exciting quests. October 6th Kuboo.com makes its official debut with host Nick Cannon during its Family Day kick-off event at the famous Santa Monica Pier. Surely, this website is something he holds close to his heart. As any proud father, he joins a legion of parents committed to keeping their children within the safety of age-appropriate websites; but this latest venture is no surprise to anyone who knows Nick Cannon – Nick’s motto is “My vocation is my vacation.” First there was “Six Degrees of Separation,” then there was “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon,” and now there’s “Six Degrees of the Nick Cannon Nation.” Literally anywhere you look on television, in fashion or film, or anything you’re listening to on the radio can probably be traced back to originating six degrees away from Nick Cannon. With his Multimedia Company “NCredible Entertainment” the reach of Nick Cannon extends to record labels, film and television production companies, and marketing firm promoting their own consumer products ranging from headphones to school supplies – in Nick’s own words “This is a brand that truly represents youth empowerment.” Kuboo is an online 3D Virtual World for kids ages four to eleven; it’s a safe environment for children to learn and interact with their friends – and there could be no greater spokesperson for Kuboo than Nick Cannon. Nick has done what so few children in show business have ever accomplished: he not only survived – he thrived, and surpassed his teenage stardom, graduating into a proficient, successful adult in the entertainment world. This firsthand knowledge of what it takes to circumnavigate through life as an adolescent and succeed at a very high level is the reason Nick was offered the role of Chairman for TeenNick, Nickelodeon’s television network aimed at the teen audience; and through NCredible Entertainment Nick is the CEO of his own teen magazine
Celebrity High, where actual high school students are able to write articles and contribute to the publication. Nick credits his Grandmother who helped raise him and taught him at an early age through example that “When much is given, much is required.” His Grandmother was a foster parent to hundreds of kids and, though they didn’t have much, they gave what they could to help others. If you know anything about Nick Cannon, you know that this is a cornerstone of his character. For years Nick has made visiting Children’s Hospitals to entertain kids and bring them gifts part of his annual itinerary – it’s just something he needed to do. So, partnering Kuboo with the Children’s Miracle Network is like coming home for Nick. Kuboo.com promises to give parents management over “how and with whom their children meet,” and provides children with “a safe, virtual world where they can purchase and decorate their own homes by adding personally chosen furnishings, view movies and live Kuboo Events on their own flat screen TV’s, play games and race on challenging obstacle courses.” Nick is the spokesperson, in general, for Safe Communications, Inc., who also created MouseMail.com, which boasts safe email, texting and video chat for kids. Of course, with the birth of Moroccan and Monroe, Nick began to think much more seriously about the society his children would be raised in, but clearly, this is the path Nick would have been on one way or another. The irony of “America’s Got Talent” is that one of the most generous and talented individuals you’ll probably ever meet is the “Host.”

They say, ‘We have a referral for you,’ which means they’ve matched you with a child. The singer went on to adopt a second son, now 2-year-old son Levi. “I’ve always had maternal instincts,” she said. “And there are so many different ways you can go about that. My sons didn’t have to be from me. They didn’t have to look like me. I just wanted children to love.” Madonna: The Queen of Pop has adopted two children from Malawi – David, now 6, and Mercy, now 5 – and has since given back to the impoverished African nation. A close friend of Madonna’s said the singer was thrilled to bring Mercy home after a long, legal battle. “She’s ecstatic. She made a promise that she wouldn’t give up on Mercy and, believe me, she could move mountains when she’s this determined.” Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness: Hugh Jackman is happiest, “being with my family, definitely, without a doubt.” The sexy Wolverine star and his wife, DeborraLee Furness, have two adopted children Oscar, 12, and Ava, 7. The hands-on dad said it was a “no-brainer” for them to adopt children in need. “When we went first to talk to someone in Los Angeles about adoption, I remember, they said, www.celebritybabyscoop.com
‘What do you want?’ I said, ‘Well, healthy would be good.’ And they said, ‘Well, what about the race?’ We’d ticked mixed race. And he said, ‘Now, listen. Please don’t, please don’t just tick that because you think it’s the right thing to tick.’ And he said to me, that we turn away children every month who are mixed race, because we can’t find families for them.” He’s also spoken of the joys of adoption.“A while back, there was a lot of shame attached to it and parents wouldn’t tell their kids they were adopted,” he said. “What’s great is that the focus is now shifting to the care of the child. We were very fortunate and open – I can’t go into details because of the privacy of the birth parents, but I can tell you it was amicable. Adoption is a wonderful thing to do.” Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie: A-listers Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are parents to six children: Maddox, 10, Pax, 8, Zahara, 7, Shiloh, 6, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 4. Their three eldest children were adopted from Cambodia, Vietnam and Ethiopia — although, Angie said she’s lost track of the details. “I couldn’t tell you in my own home who’s adopted and who’s not,” Angelina recently said. “It doesn’t cross my mind,” she added. “There is something really wonderful when you adopt a child from another country because that whole country enters your house. We have different languages in our house, we have different flags up in our house, we have different food and culture and discussions and we go to their countries.” Meg Ryan: After trying to adopt domestically for years, Meg Ryan opted to try her luck in China. In 2006, she brought home her daughter Daisy True. “As mysterious and magical as it is to have a baby you gave birth to, I have that exact same thing with Daisy,” she said. “I feel like we made some agreement, long ago and far away, to meet in the way we did.” Meg is also mom to biological son Jack, 20, with ex-husband, Dennis Quaid. Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley: Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl and her husband Josh Kelley adopted their daughter Naleigh from Korea when she was 10-months-old. “[Adoption has] been a big part of my life and my family,” Katherine said. “My sister is Korean and my parents adopted her back in the 70s and so I just always knew that this is something I wanted to do.” Katherine went on to talk about her now 3-year-old daughter. “She is a special needs baby and because of that it all moved so much faster. They wanted to get her to us as quickly as possible.” The couple went on to adopt a second daughter, Adalaide, domestically in April. “She’s great! She’s a delicious, beautiful, wonderful child,” the Grey’s Anatomy alum gushed of her new daughter.

I feel like my son has given me life – he’s given me a rebirth. The world just seems like a different place! He’s changed my perspective on the world.” Farrah Abraham - “Hands down, I would say the greatest life lesson I’ve learned since becoming a teen mom is that life is unpredictable. I’ve felt all kinds of emotions through this journey such as sadness and stress. I’ve had horrible relationships, and felt a lack of support at times. However, it’s these situations that make you stronger and more mature.” Tori Spelling - “I don’t like putting limits or boundaries on our family. But, I think 4 is a really nice number. Baron Jay Littleton Jr. A TripleT hreat
By Meagan Sargent
Actor, humanitarian, and now film producer, Baron Jay Littleton Jr. is the ultimate triple threat. Born in Detroit, Michigan his journey to stardom literally ‘fell in his lap’. Baron sits down and gets personal about his life, career, and personal testimony for making an impact in the film and television industry. HW: Can you tell me a little about the Baron Jay Family Foundation? BJL: I’m currently working on opening up an internet cafe in West Africa. Internet is very expensive to have over there. Currently I’m made a partnership with some people lover there that can assist and make sure everything is running smoothly. Right now I’m in the process of raising the funds to get it going. HW: How did you get your start in the film and television industry? BJL: It literally fell in my lap. Upon going to auditions and looking at what I was going to go after. A spot had opened up in a film, “Marriage Prep”. The person they had for the role dropped out last minute, and I decided I was going to fill in. HW: Wow, that’s great! Talk about perfect timing! BJL: I know! My full intent was to act! I didn’t know anyone in the industry. In my mind, I was sort of like a ‘walk on actor’. I knew I was good enough to play with the big

boys and make a career out of this. So after that, I just kept auditioning. HW: What is one of the main things that you feel has a huge impact on breaking into this industry? BJL: Lots and lots of networking. It’s important for actors to target those people that you want to work with and build a relationship with them. HW: I feel like auditioning is very nerve wrecking! How do you prepare yourself for auditions?
plays a big role. Whoever stays in the game the longest will win. If you withstand that, and have a support system along with faith and prayeryou can do anything! HW: That is great advice! Besides acting, and theatre you even produced your first film, Safe House! Congrats! The way you collaborated and put this together was brilliant-how did this come about?!
BJL: I hate auditioning! Once I get hired, I’m completely fine! But as far as preparation I find it to be beneficial to psyche yourself out, have fun, and just have an ‘I don’t care’ attitude about it. Can’t be too excited about it, because that’s when you’ll mess it up.
BJL: A lot of actors spend money on headshots, acting classes, etc. to land the perfect role. My thoughts were why don’t we just pull together and invest in your future. In this industry, we are all working pro bono, and at the end of the day at least you would have this film to promote your acting at the same time. It really was a collaborative effort. We used resources we could each bring to the table, such as location, cars, and equipment.
HW: There are so many aspiring actors in Los Angeles. How did you stay focused and confident that you were going to land a few breathtaking roles in the near future and be well on your way?
HW: You play a Kanye West character in ‘Not Another Celebrity Movie’, which will be released pretty soon! How was it working on set with such an amazing group of talented people, in such a hilarious environment?
BJL: First and foremost, you have to stay confident! I don’t see myself doing anything else. Getting feedback helps as well. I reflect on all the things I have accomplished thus far. Like 50 cent [the rapper] once said, ‘get rich or die tying’, I’m going to be a great actor, or I’m going to die trying. You do get discourage, but you just have to take massive action in order to get to where you’d like to be.
BJL: It was great! Really fun-it actually wasn’t working. I felt like a kid at summer camp.
HW: Any words of advice for someone wanting to break into the industry? BJL: The hardest challenge is you have to have a great team behind yousupports you. The perfect team consist of a publicists, attorney, and basically everyone working together to promote you as a brand. You have to have the endurance and keep going and you will make it, integrity also
HW: What else are you working on at the moment? BJL: ‘The Garnishment’, which is a film, I’m doing with a UCLA graduate student. I’m also working on producing another film, ‘The Condo’. HW: That’s great, congrats on your accomplishments thus far! We can’t wait to see your upcoming films, and hear more about your progress with the Baron Jay Family Project! Montblanc honors Quincy Jones at the Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award Ceremony
Now in its 21st year, The Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award was established to honor and support individuals who have given exceptional time, energy, and funds to artists and their work. To be chosen, a winning patron has to demonstrate not only a history of personal commitment to the arts, but also a concern that the wider public should benefit as a result of that support. Jones was chosen in recognition of his role in supporting, nurturing, and guiding the music industry throughout the 21st Century. The key factor of the Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award is the $20,000 Montblanc will donate to the Jazz Foundation of America, a non-profit organization dedicated to the financial and medical support of aging jazz musicians.
