Dear Readers, The catwalk is always fierce this month with the For The Stars Fashion House Valentine’s day fashion show.... there are so many incredible fashions.... so much excitement.... and so many events heating up the red carpet this spring. Luckily we have the ultra-talented creative designer of For The Stars Fashion House, Jacob, who can design any kind of fashion you can dream up. Talented designers such as Jacob fill the entire fashion house with their one-of-a-kind, never-to-be-forgotten looks! That’s where our cover story, Martino Cartier’s gorgeous designs were born! The salon owner, motivational speaker and heart-of-pure-gold philanthropist is the epitome of what makes our “Strictly Entertainment, No Gossip” philosophy here at “The Hollywood Weekly” matter. Martino is a man of great integrity who makes the wishes of children battling cancer come true. He is also the man who women and children visit when they need a beautiful wig. He wears Jacob’s designs as well as any model, and he does so with grace and a smile that is given to everyone he meets. We’re proud to tell his story to Hollywood and beyond. Enjoy! Naturally, The Grammy’s heated up Los Angeles again this year! Sam Smith took home a bunch of the awards for his love song that we hear blaring out of every car window up-and-down Sunset Boulevard. “Stay With Me” has the city in a lovelorn mood.... well, we do celebrate Valentine’s Day this month. Of course the day of love means a lot of different things to everyone you ask. But, thanks to the legendary Tony Bennett and talented Lady Gaga, we’ve got some songs to soothe the lonely and lighten the mood. “Hollywood Weekly Magazine” is thrilled to be the media sponsor for the Ascent Expo. stations in his salon. A client, Heidi Milward had brought her son Bobby to the salon for a haircut one day. Bobby was fascinated with a hockey stick a customer had left in the salon many months before. Martino noticed his love of the hockey stick and told him he could have it.
Months passed before Milward returned
to the salon. The day she did return, Martino could tell something was very wrong. It turned out her son, Bobby, had been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and was given only two months to live. Martino felt compelled to help out. Although he didn’t have the money to donate anything to Bobby’s mom, he did have the foresight and energy to raise money with a cut-a-thon. For two days, Martino cut hair and Martino Cartier, Alex Ramos and Taylor Swift.

It was precisely enough to grant her wish to take a leave from work and spend her time at home with her son. “The $20,000 paid her mortgage for two years to the day (of Bobby’s death). Because of that one effort, Bobby was able to have his mom everyday for two years.” And Martino was taught the lesson of his life: that you only get what you give away. It’s the age-old biblical verse, “you reap what you sow.” Only, for Martino, it meant enough to make it his theme for life. Martino is part of a divine network.
It’s a network which works on the

2nd annual “A Night of Wigs & Wishes” gala sponsored by “Friends Are By Your Side” was dotted with star-studded guests and Paula Abdul as the glamorous MC granting wishes for children. Truly, Abdul was so moved by the event that she now serves as an ambassador for the charity.
The gala had more than 800
people (many guests’ expenses to the gala were covered by Martino), and raised over $150,000 to grant wishes. It also served as the platform for Martino to announce his latest and naturally, LARGE exciting news. INOE VARGAS In his native town of Playa Azul, Mexico, where he was born in 1969, Inoe showed an early interest for the arts when he entered a sand sculpting contest in his home town, gaining him honorable mention. In 1985, after coming to the United States, he pursued his life long dream of the fine arts, particularly sculpting. At the age of 19, he first began to exercise his talent at a ceramics shop sculpting animal figurines. He later began working for the Walt Disney Company as a prop maker for their shows and parades. After a memorable 8 years working with Disney, he became a freelance prop designer with C.J. Matsumoto & Sons, Inc.

Leonora Asomanin THE PASSION FOR FASHION “I AM AN INNOVATIVE AND EXPERIMENTAL DESIGNER WHICH CAN BE SEEN IN MY COLLECTIONS” “I have liked fashion from a young age, she explained, but it was not until my early teens that I decided I wanted to be a fashion/textiles designer. I chose to study textiles as one of my GCSE subjects and during this period, I became more passionate about the fashion world. From there, I attended Brentwood Ursuline Convent High School Sixth Form where I studied Photography, Art and Textiles. It was at Brentwood Ursuline Convent, that I somehow managed to obtain a Constable Cup

award for Art in April 2010. After completing my studies and receiving a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at London College of Fashion, I then went on to pursue a degree in Fashion and Textiles with Enterprise at The University of Portsmouth. I recently graduated this past July, in 2014. Before I graduated, the Synergy Events spotted my final collection at University on social media and I was invited to showcase my collection at London Fashion Week.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Emerging Fashion Designer Leonora Asomanin was born and grew up in the town of Brentwood in Essex. In this exclusive conversation, Ms. Asomanin spoke with Hollywood Weekly Magazine and revealed her passion for fashion and the origin of her exceptional talent. By Prather Jackson
I was delighted and thrilled. I was asked to take part of The Emerging Trends show 2014 with 7 other designs from around the globe including Dubai, Indonesia, Germany, Hungary and USA. I was grateful for the opportunity! Especially as a new designer, I had the opportunity to exhibit my collection straight after university. The collection that I showcased at the emerging trends show was a Japanese folk story called Urashima TarĹ? and the Turtle. The collection visually re-tells the story of a fisherman who delved into the mystical metallic underwater palace in the deep barrier Reef. In the story, a fisherman rescues a turtle and is taken to a magical underwater palace as a reward. There he falls in love with a sea princess, and ends up staying for 300 years. I am an innovative and experimental designer which can be seen in my collections. The designers I admire in the fashion industry are Phyllis Taylor- Sika Designs, Clover Canyon, Teatum Jones and Mary Katrantzou.
Since I am skilled in Screen and Digital Printing, Surface Textiles, Garment Making, Pattern Cutting, Photoshop and Fashion design as well as many others skills, my designs are both high quality and innovative.
I started my label shortly after graduating. I came up with the name Là Mo Designs which is my initials L.A and my mother’s maiden name initials. As I am at the beginning of my career, I intend to have my label fully established in the next three years. I am a British designer based in Brentwood who specialises in Haute Couture design. My newly established women’s wear label takes inspiration from various cultures, nature and architecture.
Taking an early love of my cultural heritage Africa, in particular Ghana, my collections have an eloquent and colourful influence from the richly diverse continent of Africa.

I also established a handmade accessories business called Lilo’s Butterfly Boutique in my second year at the University where I had a market stall at Camden Lock Market (London) in summer 2013.

I sold my products at the University of Portsmouth Campus Market. Lilo’s Butterfly Boutique is a newly established handmade boutique with exquisite floral and feminine designs. All products are homemade, including bags, Jewellery, cosmetic bags, pillows, jewellery boxes, paper bags and jewellery bags. My designs were exhibited this past October at the Islington Contemporary Art and Design Fair in London. I displayed my fashion and textiles collections and sold my hand-made products from my accessories business. 38 HOLLYWOOD WEEKLY
More recently, this past November, I was a guest speaker at The University of Portsmouth for ‘What makes a female entrepreneur?’ talk during Global Entrepreneurship Week. It included 4 other local Portsmouth entrepreneurs. I talked about a group project at university the encouraged me to start my own handmade boutique and starting my label since graduating.”
