Dear Readers, I am always excited to have the opportunity to share my thoughts and observations to our growing audience that now (thanks to Apple’s iPad) reaches subscribers in nearly 60 countries. I am indeed very privileged and humbled. I invite you each to further publicize Hollywood Weekly in your native country. Our experience has shown that your friends, colleagues and followers on Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook, as well as through traditional news outlets, will most likely republish our articles if you provide a referral link. We are truly a global society. In this issue, we are honored to showcase the illustrious, beautiful and truly quintessential renaissance woman, Ms. Rebecca Wang. Ms. Wang graces our cover for a second time with an exclusive 6-page editorial. She speaks on a variety of important subjects including many noted charities and her role in the British Academy of Film, Television and the Arts (BAFTA). I would like to personally thank Ms. Wang for her continuing support. And finally, we pay homage to the Beatles with a Grammy Salute that recently aired on national television here in America. It has been 50 years since they appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. Again, thanks to each and every person who takes time out of their busy lives to read Hollywood Weekly magazine. I hope you enjoy this issue as much my staff and I did in creating it. Sincerely,

Prather Jackson Publisher

Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr team for Beatles tribute Edna Gundersen

After covers by acolytes ranging from Imagine Dragons to Stevie Wonder, the two Beatles plumbed their songbook for a thrilling finale.

I

n a rare joint interview, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr share with David Letterman their memories of The Beatles’ historic “Ed Sullivan Show” appearances, the excitement of their 1964 U.S. debut and their impressions of the Ed Sullivan Theater, on THE BEATLES: THE NIGHT THAT CHANGED AMERICA – A GRAMMY® SALUTE, Sunday, Feb. 9 (8:00-10:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Letterman, host of CBS’s LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN, conducted the interview with McCartney and Starr without a studio audience Tuesday, Feb. 4 at the iconic Ed Sullivan Theater, home to Letterman’s “Late Show” and the site of the Fab Four’s groundbreaking “Ed Sullivan Show” appearance on Feb. 9, 1964. As Letterman, McCartney and Starr walked onto the stage of the theater where they made their historic first appearance, Starr recalled the excitement he felt then, which he is feeling again with the

upcoming anniversary. “No, I was just so excited,” Starr said. “I mean, even coming back yesterday… I’ve been back a hundred times, I’ve done the show with you, but it’s like, oh, I’m getting involved in all the excitement of it all then. You know, it’s not like we go around saying, ‘Oh, that day.’ Now, I’m here, I’m looking out the window, I’m in the plaza and all the kids were down there. And now we’re back on the stage again…” Starr’s memory of the Ed Sullivan Theater was that it was “four times bigger than this,” and Letterman pointed out that “there was another balcony. There was a third level of about 150 more seats. So it wasn’t that many more, but enough to make a difference.” “It’s like going back to your old school, isn’t it?” McCartney said. “Yeah, well, that’s right, yeah,” Letterman said. “It looks little now,” McCartney commented. “You thought it was huge…” Also during the interview, McCartney recounted a story to Letterman about the band’s 1965 “Ed Sullivan Show” appearance, their fourth

and final live appearance on the broadcast, featuring his solo performance of the classic, “Yesterday.” “So, it was decided that I would do ‘Yesterday,’” McCartney said. “But I’d never worked without the band, so now I’m now going to be working solo on ‘The Ed Sullivan Show.’ So I agreed to do it, so I’m standing there ready to go on, never having worked without the band, a little bit nervous, and there were curtains, and there’s a Teamster on the inside of the curtain so they won’t catch. So I’m standing there all prepared with my guitar ready to go on, and he says, ‘Are you nervous?’ I said, ‘No, not really,’ lying. He says, ‘You should be, there’s 73 million people watching!’” Letterman’s full interview with McCartney and Starr can be seen on THE BEATLES: THE NIGHT THAT CHANGED AMERICA – A GRAMMY® SALUTE, presented by The Recording Academy®, AEG Ehrlich Ventures and CBS, celebrates the remarkable legacy of the seven-time GRAMMY Award-winning Beatles and will be broadcast exactly 50 years to the day, date and time of their U.S television debut on the “Ed Sullivan Show.” That historic appearance is one of the most-watched television events ever, with 74 million people tuning in to watch the group perform five songs during the variety hour. It is considered by many historians and critics to be one of the most important moments in music and television. The all-star primetime special features McCartney and Starr performing together as well as today’s top artists covering songs performed by the Fab Four that momentous evening in 1964 and other Beatles classics through the years. The show will also include footage from that landmark Sunday night, as well as other archival material. In addition, various presenters will help highlight and contextualize the musical, cultural and historical impact of the group and this legendary performance. THE BEATLES: THE NIGHT THAT CHANGED AMERICA - A GRAMMY®

SALUTE is produced by AEG Ehrlich Ventures, LLC. Ken Ehrlich is the executive producer, Rac Clark is co-executive producer, Gregg Gelfand is director and David Wild and Ken Ehrlich are the writers.

“Nothing is ever going to be what The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show were,” said Ken Ehrlich, the Grammy salute’s executive producer HOLLYWOOD WEEKLY - 15

Shopping at Phyllisophical will transform your wardrobe and just maybe your philosophy! Dynamite Editorials is an educational production company specializing in editorial photography founded by Fashion Stylist, Blogger, and Production Director, TNT Tauna. Tauna began Dynamite Editorials as a platform to enable other artists to create cohesively styled editorials for portfolio use, promotion, and publication. Tauna works diligently behind the scenes to organize content creating events, invite influential fashion bloggers to join the fun, and find magazines interested in publishing the content. To learn more about TNT Tauna and Dynamite Editorials please visit her website at www.tnt-tauna.com Our model for this editorial, Kate Kelton, is an actress and artist. Her unforgettable role in cult-classic, Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle (2004), cemented her love of the craft after her print and commercials beginnings in Toronto, Canada where she was the world’s first nonblond “Tic Tac Girl”, in an enormously popular campaign that aired for almost a decade. However, you may recognize her from one of her more recent roles in IFC’s

Bullet in the Face or the SyFy Channel’s tv series Haven. Kate’s art consists of ink drawings and paintings, some of which are digitally manipulated for printing. Besides exhibiting her artwork internationally, Kate was also published as a contributing author in ‘Making It in High Heels: Inspiring Stories by Women for Women of All Ages’ (BurmanBooks Inc.). This gorgeous and accomplished woman is surely on a path towards a bright future. Fashion Stylist, TNT Tauna, has worked with Kate before and interviewed her about her personal style. Here’s what she had to say, “When I wear black I feel like it’s a jumping off point for my personality because the absence of all colour creates the perfect void for me to BE the colour.” With this in mind, Tauna knew that Phyllisophical was going to be a match made in heaven for Kate’s style because much of the wardrobe they carry comes in variations of Kate’s favorite color. Tauna pre-pulled day to evening looks for Kate and upon her arrival, Kate was immediately drawn to her rack and knew that these were the items Tauna had pulled for her. Tauna looked for the most interesting pieces to style on Kate, the first being an incredible striped dress by Dress to Kill accessorized with a Gerard Yosca broach and Wendy Stevens shoes. Kate appears as a casually elegant shopper in this playful yet sophisticated voluminous dress. For her next look, Tauna built the look around this great Elemente Clemente coat that has a slimming effect due to the way it drapes down the body. Tauna paired it with leggings by Noblu, ring by Monbijou, and an amazing silver cuff by Avant Garde Paris. For Kate’s 3rd look, Tauna went back to Dress to Kill for this killer skirt. A pop of red was added with this cami from AMB Boutique, avant garde crochet sweater by Gala & Kardi, and beads from Phyllisophical. The belt by JoEd created the perfect line for an hourglass silhouette. Next, Kate slipped into this Kedem Sasson dress for a classy evening look adorned with this fabulous brooch necklace by jewelry designer, Twix. In this look, she seems ready for a dinner date complete with a night at the opera. In Kate’s last look, she appears ready for a night out with the girls filled with great drinks and lots of dancing.
