shape, I don’t think any of us were prepared for the daily climb! As far as the story of this film...it’s a 1920’s concept with some modern films techniques that really give it a life of its own. You have classic characters and settings with a really unique cinema-graphic outlook. We have a teaser at https://youtu.be/Np-cb8tYcgQ. Make sure to check it out! Q: Let’s discuss your next film. Please allow our reader’s a glimpse into what this next film will tackle. And please include approximate dates for the filming commencement. Our next film is “Mangled Angels.” It’s a Suspense Horror Thriller. Think Seven meets Silence of the Lambs with a little Saw mixed in. I might even say Zodiac elements are involved. Based on true events we tell the story of a “prophet” who gets hold of a quote by St. Francis DeSales stating “Since God often sends us inspirations by means of his angels, we should frequently return our aspirations to him by means of the same messengers.” This prophet twists that quote to his own means, believing that by murdering people he is able to release their souls and create these angels to send his prophetic messages. on set we were at base camp eating breakfast, getting actors in make up and wardrobe, scouting locations daily; your typical day on a movie set. Except, for the first 9 days we had to hike half a mile up a mountain in Simi Valley just to reach said base camp. Every single one of our cast and crew had to hike this trail to make this movie happen. I am so proud of everyone for working so hard to make this movie happen. We were battling the elements; heat, nature (possible rattle snakes, tarantulas, bees, etc.), and physical duress. While I’d like to think I’m in decent 10 HOLLYWOOD WEEKLY

A: Movies are an inspiration to us all. I have a strong background in theatre and that being said, I believe storytelling is integral to my core beliefs in what entertainment is all about. Movies have the potential to reach us at a whole other level beyond just “entertainment.” With film we are able to explore culture, art, diversity...the human condition in all of it’s forms. We can see the weaknesses of ourselves as well as the strengths through the characters portrayed. We are also able to create a release; a catharsis, which I personally believe is essential to our growth as a human society. Without entertainment we would have to rely on the most rudimentary forms of storytelling to explore these conditions of ourselves. The entertainment industry allows us to explore a global avenue for sharing thought, allowing us to cross cultural divides in so many ways.

Q: Where will you be five years from now? How about ten? A: Such a fun question! I remember talking to Brett about where I saw us in the future not even a week after we partnered up. If I had to guess where I would be five years from now... I would imagine I’d still be on set making movies, or in the office looking for future projects. Same goes for the next decade and so on and so forth. I hope and believe that my passion for this line of work will last me all my life! In the hopeful visionary sense: 5 years from now: Raging Gopher Productions (RGP) is a respectfully known name throughout the industry as a film production company. A buzz has been established about the Gopher Gang being the new entourage in Hollywood made up of a fun team filled with positive values. RGP will be known for characteristics of reliability, trustworthy, fun to work with and executing projects well. Brett and I are enjoying being A-list actors. 10 years from now, RGP will enjoy having our own studio, a long-time established crew of employees, deep-routed alliances and partnerships with quality individuals/ companies throughout the industry. We envision our company being in a similar position as Adam Sandler and/or Mark Walberg’s companies are today. Q: What’s your explanation of passion? Passion starts with a burning desire deep within yourself. It can come from inspiration, sit as an emotion, or live with us daily. RGP is built on a foundation of passion and carries on as a unified team. Passion fuels the inspiration to create, maintains the drive to continue, and layers the icing on the cake to deliver perfection. Passion connects individuals with a product, service, event, or activity. Passion is the root of what entertains and drives the world. In business/leadership, passion is what glues accountability, trust, honesty, teamwork, respect, courage, flexibility, and effective communication. Passion is an inspiration. It is more than just emotion, it is the driver of said emotions. Without passion our lives become basic, simple, and redundant. It’s what makes us more than just basic beasts or robots. It keeps us driven, excited...curious. Without passion we wouldn’t have art, culture, science, beliefs, love...it would make life less worthwhile. www.edwinmendez.com

The Queen of Pop, who will be kicking off the initial leg of her North American tour August 31 in Vancouver, will be leaping into the worldwide portion with a November 19 performance in Osaka and November 21 and 22 performances in Tokyo. She’s been in Los Angeles for a short period of time, but is already widely known to a large circle of people who love music. For our readers who aren’t yet familiar with Cooper and her music, you’re in for a surprise! CP: I am an artist, singer and songwriter. Music is my life. competitions and festivals, touring around the world. Through winning of most of these competions I have gained a great confidence in my abilities. I also always wanted to learn composing and songwriting, but felt shy because I had always been a singer. A few years ago, I pushed past this fear and used my voice to express my passion and my story by writing my own music. As I sang my story, I felt a deep connection with my audience which has pushed me to write not only for myself, but for everyone. A couple of months ago, Jane Monheit recorded two songs that I co-wrote for a jazz project. It was an amazing experience to watch one of my favorite jazz artists of all time, perform the music that I wrote. For my own music; however, I am in more of an urban pop and soul style, but also enjoy writing in various genres, as it gives me a broader understanding and enjoyment of music. So Cooper, elaborate on your musical style. CP: As I mentioned before, my style is more of a soul pop with urban elements. I grew up listening to a wide array of musical styles and therefore have an appreciation for all. I was very influenced by classical music of Tchaikovsky, Verde Puccini, and Bach. Classical music gave me a great basis in the form, history, and dynamics of music. Ashley Park is dynamic, stunning, educated, and well, humble. She’s had tons of experience in the art of being ‘up’ one day only to be ‘down’ the very next. That’s why the growing star takes everything in stride. She knows all too well the rollercoaster world of competition and she thrives in it. And this is just one reason the challenging Los Angeles acting scene won’t ever knock her down for long. An accomplished and award-winning long distance runner, the actress has already been through her fair share of intense hurtles. And while she didn’t know it at the time, each race prepared her with brilliant precision for the challenges of an acting career. “I actually enjoy the pain of falling down and wiping the mud off.

But you keep moving.”

Growing up in Little Rock, Arkansas also added to the genuine quality found in this actress who maintains a close bond with her family. But, she’s not just your ‘archetypal Southern-Belle.’ Quite the opposite, Ashley is a woman who encompasses a kaleidoscope of characteristics. She’s rather like a stunning bullet with a clear vision on her target of success. She defies boundaries no matter how elevated they may appear. Indeed, the more arduous the path, the harder she works to master its terrain. And this motivation is exactly what promises to take Ashley to the top. “I’m still growing, and I don’t think you ever stop growing as an actress. I have to keep reminding myself to take every little life experience and use (them) while I grow as an actress.”

Certainly, Ashley

is the kind of actress who makes things happen with pure vitality. She wears many hats, and all of them look dazzling. Luckily, we’ll all get a feel for her live dynamism on stage when she participates in the upcoming Miss Asia USA pageant (she’ll represent Korea.) What a delight it is to watch her as she embraces her journey; and while doing so, smiles upon our life. www.theashleypark.com PHOTO: Eric I. Gonzalez

Q & A with Ashley Park HW: Ashley, how would you describe beauty? AP: I would describe beauty as confidence. While conventional beauty can very easily be purchased and applied, I find that women who exude confidence and that “je ne sais quoi” define true beauty. HW: Where do you find inspiration?

AP: I draw inspiration from my parents. They are the most hard-working, supportive, generous people I know. I can only aspire to be like them. Artistically, I draw inspiration from scripts, books, movies, TV shows, people I admire, and of course, my own imagination. I’ll admit, I’m a bit of a dreamer. I have always aspired for the impossible, knowing that the rewards will be great, regardless of setbacks. In many ways, I HOLLYWOOD WEEKLY 29

think I draw inspiration from challenges. No matter how often I question my sanity for the difficult paths I choose, I find that the more often I fail, the more determined I become. HW: You have so many talents; what would you most like our readers to know about you? AP: I would most like people to know that I work hard because I truly want to make a difference. I worked with a homeless program for over a decade, and I have aspirations to build another program like that again in the future. I hope to join the movement of women paving a path for a strong presence of Asian and Eurasian women in Hollywood, and to gain momentum as an actress. I admire people like Virgelia Villegas, the pageant director and producer of the Miss Asia USA cultural pageant. I am currently a 2015 delegate, representing Korea. Virgelia is dedicated to giving women of Asian descent the platform to have an even stronger

voice in Hollywood through participating in the pageant, which I find inspiring. I am currently filming the feature film “Day For Night,” which has gained quite a bit of momentum this year, with amazing actors like Peter Bogdanovich, Sally Kirkland and Lin Shaye joining the cast. It’s a film noir with an incredible script and a very passionate team behind it. I am also gearing up to shoot “Trapdoor,” a female-focused thriller in the vein of movies like “The Descent.” It’s a desert sci-fi that blends the excitement of action sports with the horror of a creature film. My character is Kat, a curious, fearless and thrillseeking individual with an aptitude for speaking her mind. I’m also preparing to join the cast of the supernatural web- series “Last Life” for season two. I play Nari, a character I’m also very excited to take on. HW: With such beauty, we’d like to know how you take care of yourself both internally and externally. AP: Beauty is so subjective! I have to like myself and live with myself every day, regardless of what other people may think of how I look. Being in this industry, I can’t go home and start liking or disliking myself because someone said that they either do or don’t like the way I look. So I don’t obsess over it. Having been a competitive athlete since I was 12-years-old, I’d say that I have a pretty good handle on taking care of my health. I try to stay intuitive and listen to my body. Beauty comes from within, so I’m a believer in taking care of health above all else.

Sweden

During the 80s, there was a little girl who grew up in a small historical town called Sigtuna in Sweden. Her hair was as wild as she. At an early age she loved listening to Elvis and dreamed about becoming a movie star in the USA. Little did she know that she’d become so much more than she had ever dreamed. “Many teachers have noticed Malin’s incredible raw talent. Indeed, the American drama teacher Brian Tyrrell praised Malin’s gifts as both an actress and a writer.” By Brandon Williams

I’m sitting across from the charismatic Malin HL Forsman at a cool spot in sunny Santa Monica, California. It’s been many years since the girl became the beautiful woman she is today. Malin HL Forsman is a Swedish gem and Los Angeles is thrilled to have her in its backyard. Malin has just left Stela Adler’s full-time acting program of 2014-15 and is ready to go back to Sweden for awhile. Wherever Malin ventures, she’s welcomed with open arms. She’s a powerhouse with an impressive education level and tons of experience to boot. At one time she

studied drama outside Seattle back in 1997 and 1998 before making a transition back in 1999 to briefly work as a commercial model in Sweden. When Malin was a child she was put center stage from the start in both theater and show productions. At the age of five she danced ballet but tells me “unfortunately it didn’t give her a posture for life.” In fact, she still works on it. But, she prefers Jazz. Jazz dance suits her better, she says. Her moves come naturally and eventually captivated her audience, but she had to work hard to remember the choreography. She says, she always was best at improvising both in dance and theater. Anyway, her drama teacher Ingela Malmberg in Sweden still remembers Malin’s energy, charisma and unique entertaining skills as a child. She

who knew right from the start that he wanted to become an actor. Eventually he made his way to the land of movies, best known as Hollywood. He graduated from the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2013. Their California campus has fame in its veins. It’s built on what was once the south lot of Charlie Chaplin’s studios. One of Chaplin’s bungalows today is the Academy’s own library. by Malin HL Forsman

Tucked inside a hip-joint in the bustling neighborhood of Notting Hill in London, Nicholas Fagerberg and I chat acting, life and destiny. As is often the case in London, it’s a foggy and rainy day; we’re far away from the California sun and palm trees of Hollywood. But, Nicolas has a way of lighting up the room with his unique charm. He’s a young man with an unusual appearance; you have to look at him twice to really ‘take him in.’ Clearly, it’s working for him. Since embarking on his film career in only 2013, he’s been on a whirlwind of success. He’s already done seven short films, two television pilots and a web series. Plus, he’s also been on stage in several theater productions and just this summer received acting awards in London, where he now resides. Our waiter is very attentive as we move through different servings. I always find that the Brits are truly polite, but with a sarcastic and somewhat ‘dry’ approach to life that is still somehow surprisingly charming.

Just look at the fantastic and witty

cast in the international hit TV series “Downton Abbey.”
