Seaside Staples

Beach Day Essentials and Attire Trends

LIFESTYLE

As the temperature starts to rise, and the days grow longer, the thought of a relaxing beach day comes to mind for your next getaway! But, before you go, make sure you are equipped with the essential gear and trendy attire to make the most of your seaside adventure. From sun protection to stylish swimsuits, here is your guide to beach day essentials and attire trends.

Sun Protection

First and foremost, safeguarding your skin from the sun's harmful rays is very important. Remember to pack plenty of sunscreen with a high SPF rating to shield your skin from UV damage. Don't forget to reapply every few hours, especially after swimming or sweating. Additionally, a wide-brimmed hat and UV-blocking sunglasses offer extra protection for your face and eyes. Another important piece to bring would be a lightweight and breathable cover-up to provide additional coverage against the sun when you're not in the water.

Beach Towels and Blankets

A comfortable and absorbent beach towel is a must-have for lounging on the sand. If you are in the market for a towel, we recommend oversized towels that provide ample space for stretching out, keeping your personal items out of the sand, or wrapping up after a refreshing dip in the ocean. For those seeking a cozy spot for a beach picnic or nap, consider bringing along a soft and lightweight beach blanket or mat. Look for water-resistant options that are easy to shake off and clean.

Beach Bags and Totes

Keep your beach essentials organized and accessible with a spacious and durable beach bag or tote. Look for bags made from water-resistant materials like canvas or nylon to protect your belongings from sand and splashes. We prefer useful bag designs with multiple compartments and zippered pockets to keep your sunscreen, sunglasses, snacks, and valuables secure. Choose a stylish beach bag that complements your swimwear and reflects your personal taste.

Trendy Swimwear

Make a splash with the latest swimwear trends that combine style and functionality. From vibrant prints to flattering silhouettes, there's something for everyone this beach season. High-waisted bikini bottoms and retro-inspired one-piece swimsuits are making a full comeback, offering chic coverage and support with a hint of nostalgia. Embrace bold colors, tropical patterns, and playful details like ruffles and cutouts to make a fashion statement by the shore.

Putting our recommendations into practice, feel free to tag @HomeByGeneva on Instagram or Facebook!

Water Bottles and Hydration

Staying hydrated is key to enjoying a day in the sun, so be sure to pack plenty of water in reusable bottles. Invest in insulated stainless steel or BPA-free plastic bottles to keep your drinks cold and refreshing throughout the day. Consider adding electrolyte tablets or flavored water enhancers to your hydration routine for an extra boost of energy and replenishment. If you are looking to save space, a collapsible plastic bottle can give you an option to pack down and keep your water intake up.

Beach Umbrella or Sunshade

Live in luxury on the beach by bringing an umbrella or sunshade to your next beach day! Umbrellas and sunshades provide the perfect place to get out of the sun, rehydrate, reapply sunscreen, and refresh for your next stint out in the sun. Look for umbrellas and sunshades with UPF-rated fabric for extra sun protection, and make sure that the umbrella or sunshade is easily portable and doesn’t create a hassle from your trip from your car to the beach.

Beach Footwear

Choose footwear that can handle sand, surf, and rocky terrain with ease. Leave your boots, and moccasins at home! We recommend Flip-flops or sandals with sturdy straps that are ideal for navigating the beach, or water that shoes offer added protection for exploring rocky shores or coral reefs. Look for lightweight and quick-drying options that provide traction and support for walking on uneven surfaces. Don't forget to pack a pair of stylish and comfortable beach sandals for strolling along the boardwalk or grabbing a bite to eat after your fun in the sand.

Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Choices

Show your love for the ocean by opting for sustainable and eco-friendly beach gear. Choose swimwear made from recycled materials or sustainable fabrics like organic cotton or hemp. Pack reusable items such as water bottles, utensils, and snack containers to minimize singleuse plastic waste. Participate in beach clean-up efforts and do your part to keep the shoreline in good shape for future generations to enjoy.

Preparing for a day at the beach involves more than just sunscreen and a swimsuit. By selecting the right gear and embracing the latest attire trends, you can elevate your seaside experience and make lasting memories by the shore. From sun protection to sustainable choices, prioritize comfort, style, and environmental responsibility as you soak up the sun and surf. With the right essentials and a dash of beach chic, you're ready to dive into a day of fun and relaxation by the sea!

Sustainable Style Mastering the Thrifting Experience

In today's world, where sustainability is becoming increasingly important, mastering the art of thrifting offers a variety of benefits. From reducing expenses to minimizing environmental impact, thrifting is not only a savvy financial choice but also a conscious lifestyle decision. Let's delve into the world of thrifting and uncover why it's more than just a trend—it's a sustainable style revolution.

The Economic and Environmental Advantages of Thrifting

Cost-Effectiveness: Thrifting allows you to score incredible finds at a fraction of the cost compared to buying new items. Whether it's clothing, appliances, or furniture, thrift stores offer budget-friendly options without compromising quality.

Environmental Impact: By opting for second-hand items, you contribute to reducing waste and minimizing the demand for new production. Thrifting helps extend the lifespan of products, diverting them from landfills and conserving valuable resources.

Unlocking the Versatility of Thrifting

Fashion Finds: Thrift stores are treasure troves of unique clothing items, offering a diverse selection of styles from different eras. From vintage gems to contemporary pieces, you can curate a one-of-a-kind wardrobe while reducing your fashion footprint.

Household Essentials: Beyond fashion, thrift stores also offer a wide range of household items, including appliances and furniture. Whether you're furnishing a new home or upgrading existing pieces, thrifting provides endless possibilities for affordable home decor solutions.

10

Tips for Maximizing Your Thrifting Experience

Timing is Key: Visit thrift stores during off-peak hours, such as weekdays or early mornings, to avoid crowds and have first dibs on newly stocked items.

Explore Thoroughly: Take your time to browse through each section meticulously. Hidden gems often lurk amidst seemingly ordinary items, so thorough exploration is key to finding treasures.

Keep an Open Mind: Embrace the element of surprise and be open to unexpected discoveries. Don't limit yourself to specific brands or styles—thrifting is all about embracing diversity and individuality.

Quality Check: Before making a purchase, inspect items carefully for any damages or defects. While thrifted items offer great value, ensuring their quality ensures a worthwhile investment.

Let's go thrifting

Negotiate Wisely: Many thrift stores are open to negotiation, especially for bulk purchases or items with minor flaws. Polite negotiation can sometimes lead to additional discounts, allowing you to snag even better deals. Most thrift stores also host discount days, be sure to keep in touch with your local stores to be reminded of any potential sale days.

Pay It Forward: Once you've mastered the art of thrifting, consider donating items you no longer need back to thrift stores. By closing the loop, you contribute to the cycle of sustainability and support others in their thrifting journey.

Mastering the thrifting experience goes beyond just saving money—it's about embracing sustainability, creativity, and conscious consumerism. By incorporating thrifting into your lifestyle, you not only elevate your personal style but also contribute to a greener, more sustainable future. So, roll up your sleeves, sharpen your thrifting skills, and embark on a journey of sustainable style transformation.

Want a fun summer hobby? Look no further than a seasonal garden! This wholesome activity provides you with a deep connection with nature, delving deep into the world of best practices to make sure your garden stays at peak performance all season. In this guide, we'll start from scratch, and help guide you through the fundamentals of creating and nurturing a garden that evolves with the changing seasons.

DESIGN/DIY

16

Planning Your Seasonal Garden:

Crafting a seasonal garden begins with thoughtful planning. Assess your goals, available space, and local climate to determine the best plants for each season. Consider the interplay of sunlight, rainfall, and temperature as you map out your garden's layout and design for your ideal garden!

Selecting Plants:

Choose a diverse array of plants suited to your region's seasonal variations, as well as important ingredients that play a role in your diet. From vibrant annuals to resilient perennials, select species that complement each other in color, texture, and growth habit. Prioritize plants that align with your gardening skill level and maintenance preferences.

Preparing the Soil:

The foundation of a flourishing garden lies in its soil. Conduct a soil test to gauge pH levels and nutrient content, then amend the soil based off the test. Enrich the earth with organic matter such as compost or aged manure to promote healthy root development and nutrient uptake. This is a major step in transforming your garden into the super garden of your dreams!

Planting Your Garden:

With soil prepped and plants selected, it's time to bring your garden to life. Follow planting guidelines for each species, spacing them appropriately to optimize growth and airflow. Embrace succession planting to extend your garden's productivity and ensure a continuous harvest.

Caring for Your Garden:

Nurturing your garden is a labor of love that requires vigilance, care, and a willingness to fail. Remember, every hardship is a learning opportunity! Maintain consistent moisture levels, watering deeply and regularly to sustain plant health. Keep a watchful eye for pests and bacteria, and step in to protect your plants from harm. Weed diligently to prevent unwanted competition for resources and space.

Enjoying the Fruits of Your Labor:

As your garden thrives and matures, you can finally enjoy the rewards of your hard work! Harvest fruits, vegetables, and flowers at their peak, savoring the flavors and fragrances of your seasonal bounty. Share your garden's abundance with friends, family, and neighbors, spreading joy and nourishment throughout your community. If you think your harvest is ready to share with the world, consider attending a Farmer's Market or creating a pop-up shop in your local community!

Seasonal gardening is a journey of discovery, patience, and renewal. By tending to your garden with care and intention, you'll create a vibrant sanctuary that thrives, even as the seasons pass. DIY BACKYARD FIRE PIT

Summer nights are best spent under the stars by a fire. Having a fire pit in your backyard is a great way to spend the summer with your loved ones, or even by yourself! With a few tool and supplies, you can cobble together your very own fire pit that you will cherish more for the hard work you put into it.

Here is the ultimate guide to putting together your very own backyard fire pit that don't require you to hire an expensive landscaper!

Tools And Essentials:

48 10.25" x 7" tumbled concrete wall blocks

48 3.5" x 7" mini tumbled concrete wall blocks

6 bags of river rock Rake

1

CREATE FOUNDATION

Create the first tier of the fire pit by forming a circle, alternating the large and mini bricks to create a pattern. Using a level, make sure the bricks are relatively even all the way around. If the circle is more than an inch or two uneven, remove the higher bricks and dig out the dirt underneath until they're level with the rest. It's important for the first level to be as even as possible to create a sturdy foundation.

2

BUILD SIDES

Begin the next layer by alternating the large and small bricks again, placing the small bricks on top of and in the middle of a larger brick to continue the pattern.

3

KEEP FIRE PIT LEVEL

During the assembly process, step back from time to time and make sure the fire pit wall is even. Adjust as necessary to keep it symmetrical and level.

Sit back, relax with good company, and toast some smores under the starry summer nights with your brand new firepit!

4

CLEAR AROUND PERIMETER

Using a hoe and a shovel, clear out a two-inch area around the perimeter of the fire pit. Apply a weed killer to cut back on weeds growing up around your new fire pit.

5

ADD RIVER ROCK

In the newly cleared area, pour river rock evenly around the perimeter. The addition of the river rock will give the fire pit a nice finished look and help keep the bottom layer of bricks from shifting.

6

FINISHING TOUCHES

Finish off your fire pit project by spreading the remaining river rock in the bottom of the pit to help with drainage and prevent weed growth.

7

CREATE A SEATING AREA

Resin Adirondack chairs are virtually maintenance-free and, with the addition of outdoor pillows and blankets, will make the area feel comfortable and cozy.

Jeanine Robbins

HUMAN SPOTLIGHT

We sat down with Geneva Financial Branch Manager Jeanine Robbins to discuss the importance of using social media to advertise your business, the challenges and rewards of producing content, and what you should know before starting on a platform.

Jeanine’s Path to Becoming a Social Media Guru

Recognizing the potential of leveraging video content to establish a stronger online presence, Jeanine began making videos consistently in 2022. This has allowed her to personalize her brand as “The Loan Angel” and increase her business in the mortgage industry.

This has helped keep her motivated through the sometimes-turbulent market. The sense of recognition and impact she sees from her videos drives her to produce more consistently and reach a larger audience. This audience primarily lies on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, and the plan is to begin making more content specifically for YouTube. As more videos are being shot, Jeanine has grown increasingly more comfortable in front of a camera.

However, this didn’t happen overnight. Initially, Jeanine faced challenges filming and spoke of the anxiety it brought her, joking that the best way to relax before a shoot was a strong drink. She became more comfortable as she filmed her “American Dream” series, as she developed a strong rapport with her film crew over time.

As for many creators, it takes time to feel comfortable filming, but Jeanine began to feel at ease as she developed her content creation process.

This process starts with watching market trends, recent events, and common inquiries from her followers, helping her conceptualize her videos. From there she scripts the video, meticulously outlining the introduction, questions, talking points, and conclusion, often collaborating with a team member to optimize the script.

However, Jeanine advises to not stick to the script and stresses the importance of authenticity. Being genuine and showing your personality is a great way to establish a brand identity and create a loyal audience. Jeanine keeps this authenticity by not focusing too much on the statistics, rather she often views the quality as the grounds for a successful video.

22
Follow @theloanangel

Creating A Brand

As mentioned, Jeanine emphasizes authenticity and connecting with the audience to establish a better brand identity. Jeanine often films about lifestyle aspects in her videos, showcasing restaurants and tourist spots in her hometown of Scottsdale, Arizona, many of these places Jeanine goes to herself. This personalization creates a sense of identity and forms a connection with the audience, seeing Jeanine as more than someone on their screen, but as a person.

She also uses popular features such as “stitching” on TikTok Tok where she answers a commenter's questions directly in a video. Exploring new features and using popular ones is also great for getting a boost from the algorithm, allowing Jeanine to gain more views that way. On top of her interactions with followers, Jeanine has established her brand in a more traditional sense. By utilizing the same fonts, colors, and logos, she established a consistent presence and made her style recognizable like many other businesses do.

What Challenges Has Jeanine Faced?

As is the case for many content creators, balancing the time to create content and continue to work her full-time job can be challenging. Jeanine says that it is important to focus on self-care to avoid burnout and a loss of motivation. To help make time for this, Jeanine sets specific times when she knows she won’t be as busy during the week. Oftentimes, she opts to create multiple videos at once to avoid filming in back-to-back weeks. Detailed coordination with her social media team is essential to maintain productivity and maintain the expectations her audience has set for her.

Financial difficulties and changing companies made it harder to stay motivated. As the days dragged on, Jeanine stated that she often did not have the motivation to film but pushed through. Her former company was not as supportive of her filming efforts and was resistant to utilizing social media as a marketing tool. This persisted until she returned to her home at Geneva Financial. Jeanine says that Geneva played a pivotal role in her content gaining more of a following and was supportive of her content creation efforts.

Tips For a Loan Officer

Since starting her social media channels and producing video content, Jeanine has observed a significant uptick in business. Her videos resonate with an audience, increasing engagement and inquiries from realtors and potential clients. Jeanine says that you don’t need high-quality equipment to do so either, a setup with your phone's camera and adequate lighting is all you need. Once you begin to film more and become more comfortable, then you can worry about investing in better equipment. It is important to understand that this will gradually progress, and you likely won’t see success overnight.

While initially relying on a teleprompter for her videos, Jeanine suggests not sticking to the script. This can come across as unnatural and awkward. Over time, you will become more comfortable with the equipment through trial and error. As a loan officer, Jeanine focuses mostly on educating her audience with her videos. With younger generations coming to the age of homebuying, there is a new wave of potential clients who need to be informed about the industry. A good call to action to create Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) can convince viewers to strike on a home loan sooner rather than later.

While she aims to educate the younger, Gen Z audience, her primary audience and clientele is in the 30–50-year-old range. This includes a lot of first-time homebuyers, reasoning that education is essential for this group, driving much of her content strategy.

Jeanine believes that loan officers should prioritize social media and the increasing digital landscape. Speak from their experience in the industry, leverage social media to stay competitive, and connect with potential clients directly. She also suggests keeping a keen eye on specific products and educating yourself on their benefits will show you to a targeted audience. Focus on first-time homebuyers, educate them on the industry, and teach them about the homebuying process.

Plans For the Future

Going forward, Jeanine plans on producing more content for YouTube. This includes longer-form videos and turning her videos into YouTube Shorts, one of the platform's newer features. Jeanine has the intention of incorporating more live content into the mix as it offers her a way to interact with her audience immediately and more directly.

Jeanine plans to start new marketing campaigns including additional shows that aim toward a wider audience and to solidify her brand’s position in the market.

INGREDIENTS:

4 c. cubed frozen watermelon (seeds removed)

2 c. sliced frozen strawberries

2 c. sliced frozen bananas

1/2-1 c. almond milk, coconut milk, or coconut water (each provides a unique flavor and texture

Serves 4 Method Stove Top 5 Minutes

DIRECTIONS:

If you haven’t already frozen your fruit, ensure it’s nice and ripe and juicy (the sweeter, the better) then slice and freeze on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Freeze overnight or for at least 4-6 hours or until firm like ice. (Note: Prep time does not include this step.)

To a high-speed blender (or food processor) add frozen watermelon, frozen strawberries, and frozen banana. Top with the lesser amount of dairy-free milk of choice or coconut water.

Blend on low, then on high, using the tamper to blend the ingredients together if using a highspeed blender. If using a food processor, blend in 30-second increments, then remove lid and scrape down sides as needed.

If it has trouble blending, add more dairy-free milk or coconut water a little at a time. Be sure not to add too much or the sorbet can get too liquidy. Alternatively, you can try letting the fruit thaw slightly in the blender before resuming. Taste and adjust flavor as needed. Add more fruit of choice if you want more of its flavor to come through (we go heavy on watermelon and it doesn’t disappoint).

Transfer to a serving bowl and enjoy immediately, plain or topped with sliced fruit of choice. Or, transfer to a parchment-lined loaf pan, cover with more parchment paper, and freeze until firm, then scoop and serve in a bowl or on a cone.

Leftovers will keep in the freezer up to 2 weeks. If not freezing in a loaf pan, this sorbet freezes well in popsicles or ice cube molds (blend again later with more dairy-free milk or coconut water to achieve sorbet consistency).

MEN’S HEALTH MONTH June is

WELLNESS

In observance of National Men’s Health Month, we want to discuss some ways men can take better care of themselves and improve their health. Not taking care of oneself can affect your physical, emotional, and mental health. The following measures are intended to prepare, improve, and condition for better overall health and set you up for a happy, healthy life!

VISIT A DOCTOR

Visiting your doctor at least once a year and conducting a physical. Having regular checkups will tell you what needs to be worked on and can reveal any underlying issues. It is important to do this even if you feel fine, a yearly check up will look at your vitals and how your overall health is doing.

EXERCISE

Start exercising and strengthen your heart. This doesn’t need to be a rigorous workout, simply going for a 20 minute walk and getting your heart rate up will improve your heart health. Even adding just 2 hours a week of exercise can improve your blood pressure, heart health, and increase your lifespan. Studies show that exercising regularly can add up to 6.9 additional years to a man’s lifespan (Reimer, et al., 2012).

44

BLUE Wear Day

FRIDAY, JUNE 14

CHANGE YOUR DIET

Once you’ve figured out your goals and know what needs to be worked on, it’s time to adjust your diet and cater it to your specific needs. Speak to your doctor about what foods you need to cut from your diet and what should be added. Mix in more vegetables, drink more water, and cut back on the fast food!

PRACTICE GOOD HYGIENE

Poor hygiene skills such as not washing your hands or brushing your teeth at least twice a day can lead to gum disease, heart disease, and can lead to the development of Alzheimer’s disease (Guzaitis Dental, 2023). Practicing good hygiene skills helps your body and mind be the healthiest possible version of themselves!

REST

What may be the most important of all, allowing your body to rest gives it time to recharge and reset. Mental and physical fatigue can lead to a variety of health issues. Have a do nothing day and give yourself time to breathe and have a peaceful, relaxing day. Don’t worry about household chores, they can wait.

EDUCATE YOURSELF

Learning more about all of these methods will better prepare you to make the changes necessary. Read men’s health journals, healthy recipes, workout regimens, and other health based articles to educate yourself on the basics and begin your new lifestyle!

Use Men’s Health Month as a reason to take control of your wellbeing. Hopefully this article gives you the motivation to begin your journey and start a new future with a healthier you!

45 TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF

Mind MattersStrategies for Mental Health Wellness

It's crucial to shine a light on mental health and explore strategies for fostering emotional well-being. Mental health is a vital component of overall wellness, yet it often goes overlooked or is highly stigmatized. Let's delve into the importance of mental health, backed by statistics, and discover actionable tips to prioritize and improve mental well-being.

WELLNESS

Understanding the Landscape of Mental Health:

According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH):

Mental health disorders affect millions of individuals worldwide, with approximately 1 in 5 adults experiencing mental illness each year.

Men are less likely than women to seek help for mental health concerns, contributing to higher rates of undiagnosed and untreated conditions.

Depression, anxiety, and substance abuse are among the most prevalent mental health issues faced by men, often stemming from societal expectations, stress, and limited access to mental health resources.

46

Strategies for Mental Health Wellness:

1. Prioritize Self-Care: Incorporate self-care practices into your daily routine, such as exercise, meditation, and adequate sleep. Taking time to recharge and nurture your well-being is essential for managing stress and maintaining mental balance.

How to Get Connected, Meet People, and Embrace New Experiences

In a digital world, it's easy to find ourselves stuck in our bubbles without any interest in real-world interaction. However, the experience of connecting, collaborating, and experiencing life with others is invaluable; and can’t be found on your screen.

Enter the social safari—an adventurous journey into the wilderness of social interaction, where you'll encounter many different people, cultures, and ideas.

Embarking on a social safari isn’t just about expanding your network or filling your calendar with events; it is a total rebrand of yourself. The conscious decision to explore human connection all while improving your happiness and fulfillment in the process. Whether you're an introvert seeking to step out of your comfort zone or an extrovert craving fresh encounters, here's how you can navigate the terrain of the social safari:

BE PRESENT

This one is going to be the most difficult. With constant distraction and buzzing in your pocket, being fully present in the moment is becoming rarer and rarer as technology progresses. To combat this, practice active listening and genuine engagement in your interactions, put away your phone, maintain eye contact, and truly connect with the people around you. You'll be amazed at the connection you develop right off the bat if you fully immerse yourself in the moment.

FIND COMFORT IN THE UNKNOWN

Just like a safari through uncharted territory, stepping into social situations can be unpredictable and even intimidating. Embrace the uncertainty, embrace the awkwardness, it is where growth, discovery, and connection blossom. Approach each encounter with an open mind, a clean slate, and a willingness to learn from every experience; good or bad.

DO YOUR RESEARCH

While spontaneity adds zest to any adventure, planning can also enhance your social safari experience. Choose activities and events that align with your interests and values, while also allowing you to meet people with similar interests as well. Whether it's joining a book club, attending a cooking class, or volunteering for a cause close to your heart, select pursuits that resonate with you, and the life you wish to live.

48 WELLNESS

BE CURIOUS

Approach every interaction as an opportunity to learn and evolve. Ask questions, seek to understand different perspectives, and embrace the diversity of human experiences. Remember, everyone has a story to tell and a unique outlook on life, each encounter is a chance to uncover a new chapter and grow!

PRIORITIZE AUTHENTIC CONNECTIONS

In the age of social media, it's easy to confuse quantity with quality when it comes to relationships. Focus on cultivating authentic connections rather than amassing a large number of superficial acquaintances. Invest time and energy in building meaningful relationships based on trust, respect, and mutual support.

STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE

Growth happens when we challenge ourselves and push beyond our limitations. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try new things. Whether it's striking up a conversation with a stranger or participating in an activity that scares you, embrace the exhilarating feeling of doing something that makes you bust out of your shell!

PRACTICE GRATITUDE

The social safari is a journey filled with moments of joy, connection, and shared experiences. Take time to reflect on the moments that made you feel grateful in your life and express yourself honestly to the people who made a positive impact on your journey. A simple thank you or a heartfelt compliment can brighten someone's day and deepen your connections.

In conclusion, the social safari is not just a quest for socialization; it's a transformative journey of self-discovery, empathy, and growth. By venturing into the wilderness of human connection with an open heart and an adventurous spirit, you'll not only expand your social circle but also enrich your life in ways you never imagined. So, pack your curiosity, unleash your sense of adventure, and embark on the ultimate expedition—the social safari awaits!

A Guide to Navigating Work, Play, and Rest Balancing Act

In today's American work culture, many work around the clock staying vigilant with their emails and responding to messages. This has shown an increase in employee burnout and is playing a huge role in our country's mental health crisis. While there is no true perfect balance, there are some techniques you can utilize and create better harmony between the two.

Why is This Important?

Finding serenity between your work and personal life reduces burnout and improves your mental and physical health. This not only influences you but can have an adverse affect on your loved ones if not taken care of properly.

Work From Home

Working from home provides flexibility and convenience but also demands discipline and organization. It can be beneficial, potentially allowing you to start your day earlier. If possible, work from home a couple days a week and enjoy the comfort of staying in your pajamas—no one will know!

Have a Realistic Schedule

Be prepared to be fluid in your schedule when trying to balance your work and social life. Some days at work may be longer but staying later on Tuesday could free up Friday, allowing you to leave earlier. If you can, plan your week in advance and prioritize what needs to be done and when you need to complete it.

50 WELLNESS

Take Breaks

It has become normalized to work through your lunch break and eat at your desk. Take a true lunch break and leave the office for a while. Every few hours, walk away from your desk and take a few minutes to decompress by getting away from your computer screen.

Unplug

Unplugging from work is essential for maintaining a healthy work-life balance and preventing burnout. Some tips for unplugging from work would be to set some boundaries, create a wind-down routine, turn off your notifications at a certain time, plan some personal time, and make sure your taking breaks throughout your day.

Use Your PTO

Leveraging your Paid Time Off (PTO) is not just a company benefit; it's a crucial component of maintaining a healthy work-life balance. In today’s high-speed work environment, disconnecting can seem daunting, yet it’s essential for mental health and sustained productivity. Using your PTO allows you to recharge, pursue personal interests, and spend quality time with loved ones, which can refresh your perspective and enhance creativity when you return to work. Employers too are recognizing the benefits; many are now actively encouraging staff to take their full allowance of leave.

Communicate With Management

If you're having issues with burnout and need a change, talk to your management team. They can assist with your workload, evaluate your situation and give you the support you need. Effective communication with management is essential for fostering a positive work environment, achieving career growth, and ensuring successful project outcomes.

Balancing your work life and personal life is a great way to avoid burnout and fatigue. Use these tips to better your situation and become more at peace with your responsibilities!

to Wellness and Nutrition Holistic Approach

In today's world, processed foods and hectic, fast-paced lifestyles dominate our culture. Many have begun to combat this and focus on a holistic approach, a way to focus on physical nourishment and connect it with your mind, body, and spirit. Here are the benefits of starting a holistic diet and how you can incorporate it into your lifestyle!

What is Holistic Nutrition?

Holistic nutrition is the philosophy that one's mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional health are all connected and play a role with one's overall wellbeing. This takes into account the needs for each individual and limits the chemicals one puts into their body, working with their environment to personalize it, starting a healthier lifestyle to create a better you.

How This Affects Your Diet

With a holistic approach, you will be eating food that limits the unnatural chemicals going into your body and only eating food that promotes positive feelings and emotions. Instead of eating a greasy cheeseburger, eat a home cooked family meal that reminds you of your childhood and the happiness it brought you as a kid.

What Does This Mean?

Starting a holistic lifestyle means that you're working in nutrients based on what you need and cutting out chemicals such as GMO's and nonorganic food out of your diet. This is done to form a stronger connection to oneself and the source of where your food is coming from.

Mind-Body Connection

All aspects of a person’s being are connected together. Our thoughts, emotions, and spirit have an impact on one another. Not only are you choosing food that has the nutrients you need, but food that has a positive impact on your mind and emotions as well.

54 FOOD

Physical Benefits

Some physical benefits include reduced risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer, and heart disease, while also giving an increase in energy. This is caused by the emphasis on naturally sourced food and an increase in physical activity. Holistic approaches can also improve your gut health with nutrient based diets tailored specifically for you and your needs.

Mental Benefits

Physical activity is also a great way to reduce stress and has many mental health benefits! Meditation is common with many who practice holistic lifestyles. This improves one's mindfulness and emotional resilience. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health, and starting a holistic lifestyle is one of the best ways to focus on both and improve your health for the better.

The mental, physical and spiritual benefits as a result of a holistic lifestyle can help you live a long, rich life full of balance and clarity. We hope you incorporate some of these tips into your daily life.

Within the realm of mortgage lending, these offerings stand as beacons of support, ushering in a new era of accessible homeownership for those who have dedicated their lives to serving others.

VA Loans: A Veteran's Path to Homeownership

VA loans, a cornerstone of support for veterans, bear the proud stamp of federal guarantee, ensuring that those who have selflessly served our country are granted a pathway to homeownership. Designed exclusively for veterans and active duty service members administered solely by VA-approved lenders, these loans offer a suite of benefits tailored to ease the burden of home financing for our nation's heroes.

Among the standout features of VA loans is their unparalleled accessibility. For qualifying veterans, the prospect of purchasing a home without the traditional requirement of a down payment is a reality, opening doors that may have previously seemed out of reach. Moreover, the absence of private mortgage insurance (PMI) distinguishes VA loans from their conventional counterparts, offering financial relief and peace of mind to those who have dedicated their lives to service.

HERO Loans: Honoring America's Unsung Champions

Beyond the realm of military service, Geneva Financial proudly extends its support to America's everyday heroes through its HERO mortgage products. Aimed at first responders, educators, medical personnel, and civil servants, these loans embody a commitment to recognizing and uplifting those who selflessly serve our communities.

In addition to their favorable terms, VA loans boast flexible eligibility criteria and competitive interest rates, further solidifying their status as a premier option for veterans seeking to achieve the dream of homeownership. Whether through the purchase of a new home, the pursuit of a lower interest rate via the VA IRRRL program, or the utilization of equity through a VA Cash Out Loan, veterans are empowered to navigate the housing market with confidence and security.

A Path Forward to Homeownership

At the heart of the HERO loan program lies a steadfast dedication to accessibility. Offering down payment assistance equal to a percentage of the purchase price, HERO loans pave the way for aspiring homeowners to overcome financial barriers and achieve their housing goals. Coupled with a simplified application process and the flexibility to combine funds with seller concessions, these loans represent a beacon of hope for those who dedicate their lives to public service.

Eligibility for the HERO loan program extends to a broad spectrum of individuals, including active and retired volunteers or non-paid first responders, educators, medical personnel, and civil servants. With income thresholds set to ensure inclusivity, these loans cater to the diverse needs of those who serve our communities tirelessly.

60 MORTGAGE with a HELOC YOUR HOME'S POTENTIAL Unlocking

Have you ever found yourself in need of extra funds for a big purchase or project? Maybe you're dreaming of renovating your kitchen, paying off high-interest debt, or even investing in a second property. If so, a Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) might be the perfect solution for you.

What exactly is a HELOC?

A HELOC, or Home Equity Line of Credit, is a type of loan that allows you to borrow against the equity you've built in your home. It's essentially a second mortgage that gives you access to a line of credit, which you can draw from as needed. This means you can tap into the value of your home to fund various expenses without selling or refinancing.

With a HELOC from Geneva Financial, you can borrow up to 95% of your home's equity, with a credit line of up to $500,000. Plus, you'll enjoy low rates and interestonly payments for the first 10 years. That means you have the flexibility to use the funds for whatever you need, whether it's starting a business, paying off debt, or purchasing that vacation home by the lake.

What can you actually use a HELOC for?

The possibilities are endless! Here are just a few examples:

HOME RENOVATIONS: Upgrade your kitchen, remodel your bathroom, or add that outdoor living space you've always wanted.

DEBT CONSOLIDATION: Say goodbye to high-interest credit card debt by consolidating it into a single, more manageable payment.

EDUCATION EXPENSES: Whether it's college tuition for your kids or continuing education for yourself, a HELOC can help cover the costs.

MEDICAL EXPENSES: Unexpected medical bills can put a strain on your finances, but a HELOC can provide the funds you need to cover them.

SECOND HOME OR INVESTMENT PROPERTY: Use your HELOC as a down payment on a second home or investment property, helping you diversify your investments and build wealth.

At Geneva Financial, we offer several exciting HELOC programs designed to meet your unique needs and goals. Our Interest-Only RealtyLine, for example, allows you to make interest-only payments during the 10year draw period, giving you even greater flexibility and control over your finances.

Ready to unlock the potential of your home with a HELOC? The application process is simple and straightforward, with many of the same steps you likely experienced when applying for your original mortgage. Don't let your home's equity go to waste—put it to work for you with a HELOC from Geneva Financial!
