Have you considered, when purchasing your next wendy house, what you need to know to compare price and value for money? How familiar are you with Wendy houses, or do you prefer to make your purchases on a phone? Let’s make one thing very clear. You have to see the product prior to buying it, and, you have to familiarise yourself with the product. Most people tend to only discover problems associated with a product when it is too late. As there are no speciﬁcations set out for wooden cabins or Wendy houses as they are so often called, it is easy to end up on the bad end of a deal with little or no recourse. With all the above in mind, we would like to share with you what we believe should be the speciﬁcations and ultimately, what you, as a client should look out for.

We have a wide range of Timber cladding, Loglap, Halflog, Shiplap, Flat weather board and Rustic cladding fixed with Gun Nails. We offer both Nutec and Shera board “handy plank”, fixed with stainless steel screws. Floors: The 22mm tongue & groove flooring should be CCA pressure treated to at least H3, fixed onto floor joists which should be no more than 600mm apart. Remember, our roofsheets hold a 15 year guarantee and our timber a 20 year, SABS approved, supplier warranty against rotting, beetles etc. Timbacore is widely known within the industry and Westen Cape homeowners for quality, value for money and outstanding service. Timbacore only does business with sawmills that vet their products. Long term relationships with select sawmills and importers mean that we are proud to uphold the guarantee we offer.

These come with a supplier guarantee of 15 years. (We are also willing to work with other types depending on a customers preference, of course)

As the owner of Timbacore, Nathaniel Roberts personally handles the majority of sketches & designs for custom orders. The Timbacore team are all highly skilled at their carpentry trades and have the ability to offer recommendations on the type of timber to be used for a project, the hardware required, the correct application of products e.g. insulation & cladding, as well as spatial constraints or layout challenges. It’s all about the attention to detail, great service and the right product for the job, ensuring quality results.

Roof Structure: Timber should be CCA pressure treated to H2 at the very least. Timbacore however prefer to use H3. For example, on a typical pitch roof you have purlins at approx. 600cc onto rafters at 600mm cc, as shown in photo.

Roof Sheets: You get roof sheets and then you get roof sheets! There is a product on the market aptly named by some a ‘one year roof sheet’, which is 0.3mm thick and lasts approximately one year. At Timbacore, our roof sheets are Colorbond and Zincalume sheets and they are all 0.47mm thick.

Timber frames for the walls: Once again, the timber should be CCA pressure treated to at least H2, and once again we prefer using H3 treated wood. The frame consists of vertical studs at 600cc and with top and bottom frames, as shown in photo. Wall Cladding: The wall cladding may be Timber or Fibre Cement (Nutec or Shera board, nicknamed Handy Plank or Planking 8 or 9 x 150mm), however take note they all need to have a proper frame as depicted. The Timber Cladding must be CCA pressure treated H3 (not H2, as H2 is only for inside use) and also could be painted or Wood sealed on the outside to further protect against weathering.

HOW DOES A DEHUMIDIFIER WORK: The fan collects air from the surrounding space and pulls it into the dehumidifier. As the air passes through it comes into contact with the dehumidifier’s cooled coils. These coils use condensation to pull moisture from the air. The collected moisture remains on the coils and drips into the dehumidifiers’ bucket. The dehumidifier then reheats the air and exhausts dry air back into the room. HOW OFTEN DOES THE WATER/CONDENSATE BUCKET NEED TO BE EMPTIED: This would depend on how much humidity there is. Once the bucket is full it will automatically turn off. With most models there is a continuous drainage option ie one can bypass the water/condensate bucket and plumb directly to an outlet point. The water/condensate bucket is easily removable and simply clips back in once emptied.

HOW DO I KNOW THE CURRENT HUMIDITY: Units have LED displays which show you the current humidity. You can select humidity levels from 40% upwards. The humidistat in the unit will also pick up if/when moisture levels increase with both continuous drainage/manual units.

HOW MUCH ELECTRICITY DOES IT USE: All our units are incredibly economical with A+ energy ratings. Desiccant units tend to use more power than refrigerant units, but because they don’t need to operate as long the energy consumption is still fairly low.
