The past year brought unexpected challenges to our industry and pushed us all to grow and adapt. We’ve seen the landscape of the way we provide housing to our communities evolve – and our industry as a whole evolve along with it.

I’m honored to be one of the youngest people ever to serve as president of LVR – the largest professional association in Southern Nevada and one of the largest local associations in the nation for REALTORS®.

In addition to my duties at LVR, I oversee the operations of the McGarey Campa Group at Berkshire Hathaway Home Services –Nevada Properties, which specializes in commercial and residential real estate sales, property management, and leasing.

Although still in my 30s, I have 18 years of experience in sales, property management and leasing. As co‐team leader with partner Christopher McGarey, I oversee our rm’s management and sales divisions. Using the business and marketing background I gained from attending UNLV, I helped start and expand our residential property management division to cover nearly 500 residential units.

My professional designations include being an Accredited Residential Manager® (ARM) from the Institute of Real Estate Management® (IREM). I also earned the Residential Management Professional® (RMP) designation from the National Association of Residential Property Managers® (NARPM).

Before becoming president of LVR, I served on LVR’s Board of Directors, including serving as president-elect for 2024. I’ve also been a board member for the statewide Nevada REALTORS®, served nationwide for the National Association of REALTORS®, as well as for IREM, and am a past president of Nevada NARPM®. Last year, I was honored to be inducted into LVR’s Young Professional’s Network Hall Of Fame for contributing to the real estate industry.

But enough about me.

Most people reading this are probably more interested in what’s happening in the housing market. While I’m not one to make big predictions, I agree with the consensus view that home prices here and throughout most of the nation are not likely to go down anytime soon.

Most experts are also predicting that more homes will be become available and more will likely be sold this year than last year. That makes sense to me – especially when you consider that 2024 was a relatively slow year for home sales.

While we don’t have our nal sales numbers yet for 2024, we’ve been on pace to at least top the total number of existing homes we sold here in 2023.

Then again, the bar was pretty low, since 2023 was the slowest year for existing home sales in Southern Nevada since 2008. LVR reported a total of 29,069 sales of existing local homes, condos and townhomes in 2023. That was down from 35,584 total sales in 2022. And that was a steep decline from 2021 – which was a record year for existing local home sales, with LVR reporting 50,010 total sales.

I don’t expect us to set any sales records this year. But it would be nice to see the arrow continuing to point in a positive direction.
