The Turkish home textile sector has a lot to say in the industry from setting trends to innovating new products, from household textiles to contract textiles. It is now show time for the industry at HomeTex to be held in Istanbul for the third time. The companies are also very busy with their 2016 collections to show in this fair as well as in Heimtextil-Frankfurt, the largest fair of the sector in the world to be held in early January as every year. We were at 2nd SLEEPWELL EXPO Istanbul during the last week of November. It was a great show organized by Voli Fair Company. The Turkish sleep products industry showed its huge potential at this important meeting point of the industry. As part of the home textiles, the innovative products of the sector were dazzling. It hosted more than 100 companies domestic and international. We have planned a very influential international fair schedule for 2016. We will start with Heimtextil and continue with others to be held in a wide geography from China to the USA. As the only monthly and the only English publication of the Turkish home textile industry we are following the Turkish exporters wherever they go. Our distribution system leads the promotion of our sector to the most important events and addresses. Main titles of 2016 events schedule includes Heimtextil, Domotex, IMM, Hometextile Central Asia, Home Deco, Proposte, Evteks, Intertextile, CIFF, MoOD, Maison&Objet, HomeTex, etc…

Extention of HOTEL DU MINISTERE, The Hotel Allure L

ocated just steps away from the La Madeleine, Rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré and the Champs-Elysées, Hôtel du Ministère, designed by interior architect and designer François Champsaur in 2011, has now added 18 new rooms to its original 24. Linked by a bright and colorful breakfast room, the two adjacent buildings now adjoin the original hotel. The new street side wing is crowned with a top floor skylight whilst the courtyard side wing features a regal Eiffel Tower style structural façade. The new Hôtel du Ministère addition offers unique duplexes and singular rooms with glass ceilings. Romantic spaces with an industrial Eiffel Tower aesthetic, bathed in starlight streaming through glass ceilings, with warm beech wood nests integrated with the original hotel paneling.

The interiors François Champsaur puts his stamp on yet another project for the Hotel du Ministere, paying tribute to the artist and fashion designer studios that were formerly housed in this building.

The metal structure of one of the building’s façades reflects the late nineteenth century architectural style of the Eiffel Tower. Many of the hotel rooms overlooking the courtyard enjoy two-story steelframed glass walls that provide light and spectacular panoramic views of Paris. Echoing the existing industrial aesthetic of the building, the design objective for this addition aimed to be particularly resolutely graphic. Geographic forms contrast and complement one another, just as pops of color balance the predominant presence of black and white, enhancing the rooms in unexpected/surprising ways.

PROFILE

The spirit of the ‘artist’s studio’ is omnipresent in the linear fixtures and fittings along with the graphic design of the black and white carpet. The painterly brushstrokes of the carpet provide spatial rhythm and echo the play of colors between the armchairs, drapes, cushions and mosaic flooring in the bathrooms.

All of the rooms on the courtyard have a mezzanine overlooking the living room like an eagles nest. In the bathrooms, there is a play on volume in black and white thanks to the asymmetrical washbasin, which imitates the mirror/which, is reflected in the mirror. The glass tile flooring is softened by the marble which makes up the washbasin and bathtub. Signature pieces, such as Carlo Molino’s Gilda armchair or Franco Albini’s Tre Pezzi, add to the unique character of each room as their tubular steel frames accentuate the industrial ambiance of the building.
The black light fixtures by Serge Mouille reinforce this sensibility/ fee- ling while the curvilinear black and white wall light fixtures about the nightstands by Atelier Troupe kinetically contrast the rectilinear lines of the dressing tables that are in the same colors with comparable visual appeal.
The soft and subdued night light juxtaposes with the large windows that allow natural light to engulf the space during the day creating light effects that highlight the hotel’s architectural elements and surface textures.

The oak headboard along with the opening/door to the bathroom softens the geometric lines, infusing the space with a harmonious balance of energy.

Each room features a color scheme based on one of the three primary colors.

The drawn curtains, designed like paintings, make up a colorful atmosphere. The plaid woven wool only reinforces this feeling. Francois Champsaur, in collaboration with the owner of the Hotel du Ministere chose the artwork to decorate each space. Gouache, drawings and engravings all bring a unique touch that gives its intimate elegance. The galleries Marie Ricco, Maeght, Catherine Putman and Glineur Item Editions helped to complete the collection that was already in the hotel along with the sculptures of Sebastien KJito, lithographs of David Lynch, the works of artist couple KRM and visual artists Carmen Perrin and Stephanie Guglielmetti. Brentano earned a coveted IIDA/HD Product Design Award — Brentano’s sixth such award in eight consecutive years — for Equinox, a performance upholstery with a starry, tessellation pattern that undulates from dark to light and back to dark in a metaphor for day and night. “We always look forward to HD, and winning an IIDA/HD Award is always an honor, but it’s especially significant this year. I’m thankful the judges recognized Equinox; but to me, it’s also recognition for Iris [Wang, Design Director,] and her milestone 25 years of dedication to hospitality design,” said National Sales Manager Jeff Frank.

Market adjustment ushers in opportunities The prosperity of the furniture and building material market is closely tied to the performance of the real estate market. However, a real estate market downturn also presents a favorable stimulus for the development of the furniture and building material industry as seen in the current situation in China. While strong brands continue to shine, low-end and uncompetitive companies are being eliminated. After a round of market

reshuffling in recent years, China currently sees a higher concentration of brand furniture production enterprises, which have been leveraging their image and distribution advantages to achieve high growth in the competitive environment.

Great potential in China’s hardware market Widely used in modern furniture production, hardware accessories are becoming increasingly important within the industry, particularly cabinetry hardware, where consumers do not only demand basic storage solutions but also the attention to detail. Quality furniture hardware accessories are invariably one of the most critical factors in the overall quality of a piece of furniture. Furniture hardware enhances the diversification of furniture manufacturing and market competitiveness. With increasing changes to the structures and functionality, furniture hardware is no longer a decorative feature or just a component holding moveable parts together. The functionality is more demanding and uses are more varied. More than 90 percent of high-end furniture in China are reportedly using imported hardware accessories, and they have become the main symbol of premium furniture. For some small and medium-sized furniture enterprises, using imported hardware accessories is an important way to elevate their product quality and awareness. As such, China’s furniture market is expected to continue to have great demand for high-quality furniture hardware accessories from overseas. Showcasing a slew of top-end furniture hardware accessories at the international hall, CIFM / interzum guangzhou 2016 is poised to draw the eyeballs and active participation from trade buyers.

the supply chain, the labeling system can provide information on the production sites in which an article was manufactured, which production stage the individual factories belong to and in which country the manufacturing took place. As proof that products with the Made in Green label are harmless to health, they must successfully pass a laboratory test based on the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100. Proof that the conditions in the participating production facilities are environmentally friendly and socially responsible is provided through an extensive assessment and a subsequent company audit in line with certification according to STeP by OEKO-TEX®. For textile products that consumers buy at retail, the OEKOTEX® guidelines for obtaining the Made in Green label are as follows:

urich – For more than 20 years, OEKO-TEX® has been a reliable partner for textile companies committed to human-ecologically safe products and the implementation of more sustainable manufacturing. The newest addition to the product portfolio is Made in Green by OEKO-TEX® - a traceable product label which allows for communication throughout the supply chain all the way to the end-user. The label ensures that made in Green textiles are not only tested for harmful substances (certified according to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100) but also sustainably produced in accordance with OEKO-TEX® guidelines. The label can be awarded to any kind of textile product anywhere in the world at any stage of the textile supply chain. With the Made in Green label, brands, manufacturers and retailers have the chance to promote their responsible practices to their customers in a clear way on point-of-sale material. The added benefit of Made in Green is that each labeled product can be easily traced, thus offering new levels of transparency throughout the supply chain, all the way to the consumer. Every Made in Green label has a product ID and/or a QR code which shows where the product was manufactured. Depending on the data release granted by

The new “Made in Green by OEKO-TEX®” label for non-hazardous and sustainably produced textiles replaces both the current OEKO-TEX® Standard 100plus and the Spanish label “Made in Green by Aitex”.

* Any single component that equals or exceeds 5% of the total weight of the textile product must be supplied by STeP by OEKO-TEX® certified production facilities. At least 85% of the weight of a single piece of textile must be supplied by STeP by OEKO-TEX® certified production facilities. * The general rule for the above mentioned criteria is that the entire making up and wet / chemical processing facilities have to be STeP by OEKO-TEX® certified. * The product must be OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified. For intermediate products sold within the supply chain, the label issuer must be STeP by OEKO-TEX® certified and fulfill all of the above-mentioned criteria. During the Made in Green by OEKO-TEX® launch phase, all critical making up and wet/chemical processing facilities must comply with the requirements stated above. Ultimately, in order to receive the Made in Green label, all facilities in the remaining processing stages (spinning, weaving and knitting mills, accessories, fiber production and the production of raw materials) will meet the requirements for STeP certification.

New website shows the manufacturing process for textiles To support the launch of Made in Green, OEKO-TEX® has introduced a new consumer website which can be found at www.madeingreen.com; the site enables interested parties to discover more information about the label. The site will also be available on mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones. The site features the ability to track labeled textiles using a product ID and/ or QR code. The new Made in Green website is currently available in English with incremental language versions planned for the near future.

Under www.madeingreen.com, consumers can now find important information on the Made in Green label.
