I can still vividly recall that fateful day when Mandy's and I crossed paths. It was like something out of a movie – destiny was at play. From the moment we locked eyes, there was an instant connection, a spark that set our hearts on fire. It was like finding a missing piece of myself that I didn't know was missing.

As we got to know each other, our love grew stronger with each passing day. We laughed together, shared our dreams, and supported one another through thick and thin. It was like we were two puzzle pieces finally fitting together to create a picture-perfect love story.

When the time came to plan our wedding, we both knew exactly what we wanted. We envisioned an intimate celebration with our closest friends and family. Let me tell you, that day was nothing short of magical! The love in the air was palpable and every detail was infused with our personalities and love for each other.

Our journey as a married couple has been filled with so many incredible moments. We've navigated life's ups and downs hand in hand, supporting and loving each other unconditionally. Our love has grown deeper with every passing year, and I feel blessed to have such an amazing partner by my side.

Last year, we renewed our vows in the most romantic way – an intimate elopement, just the two of us. It felt like a dream, reaffirming our love in a breathtaking oceanside ceremony, surrounded by nature's beauty. It was a chance to relive the magic of our wedding day and fall in love all over again.

Getting married was truly the best decision I've ever made. My wife is not just my spouse; she's my confidante, my cheerleader, and my best friend. With her, I've experienced a love that has filled my life with joy and meaning.

Love has this incredible way of transforming everything it touches. It's the anchor that keeps us grounded and the wings that help us soar. It's a journey filled with laughter, tears, and countless unforgettable moments.

Since the ceremony and reception happened at the spot, we planned our day so that we had a first look and pictures before the ceremony. My favorite part of the day was the time we spent together, just the two of us and our photographer, before the ceremony. It was the only part of the day where we didn’t have to worry about anyone else, we could just be us and take in the moment.

There’s no point in worrying about what might go wrong. It’s going to go the way it is meant to go and it will be perfect, no matter what!

FALL IN LOVE WITH FORMAL

Let’s impress guests with an unexpected formal setting. Even outdoors, I'm all for formal place settings. Ditch the paper plates and make use of your China and silverware. Here we used a cement style charger plate to bring texture to the tablescape, layered with soft gray stoneware dishes, matte finish flatware and cut crystal stemware - a setting that feels organic but elevated.

DINING Al Fresco

Al Fresco weather is finally here. Summer allows us to embrace a whole new area of our home for entertaining - the backyard. There are several ways to level-up your outdoor dining experience that will leave guests yearning for your next affair.

Use what you have in your garden! When in doubt, white and green are always a sophisticated summer staple to rely on. Limit guests going in and out with a tableside bar. It elevates the look of your affair while adding convenience in spades. A simple foldable table with a clean white linen will do. Stock your bar with all the fixings for your evening’s signature cocktail.

Start with cocktail hour on the deck, enjoy dinner in the garden, and don’t forget to make use of that back corner of the yard by creating a special post dinner lounge. Outdoor Plumbing Solutions to Facilitate a Backyard Ceremony

Between limited wedding dates, venue costs, and strict end times, you have decided to have a backyard wedding instead. And why not? Outdoor weddings are beautiful and unique. The gorgeous scenery and a relaxed atmosphere offer your guests a lot more charm and romance.

However, an outdoor wedding can take a lot of work to plan and special resources to make a success.

One perk of having your wedding at your family home — or maybe even at your own new home as newlyweds — is how personal it can be. You can choose your dream date, have the freedom to decorate and control your space.

But despite that control, you are inevitably limited by the size of your space and the available amenities. The existing bathrooms inside the house won’t likely be able to handle the excess usage. Nor do you want your guest to use a porta-potty.

Luckily, there’s another solution that could solve this problem.

SANIFLO is the only manufacturer in North America offering a complete line of macerating toilets, grinders, and drain-pump systems for above-floor, residential drainage

applications. The company’s goal has always been to provide solutions that allow for simpler and easier plumbing installations, especially where it is impossible or cost-prohibitive to install conventional plumbing fixtures that require below-floor drainage.

Cutting through concrete floors to install plumbing can be very costly. Above-floor pumps allow you to achieve the bathroom of your dreams at a fraction of the expense of traditional, below-floor plumbing options.

One Saniflo product, the Sanicompact, is a one-piece toilet system explicitly designed for small spaces, because the macerating pump system is built right into the fixture. This modern looking, dual-flush toilet is engineered to use as little as one gallon per flush.

The macerating system also offers another key benefit for a wedding: the ability to handle drainage from a second fixture, such as a small, hand-washing sink. In short, you will be able to have a functioning half bath as well as the flexibility to use a restroom in a secluded part of the yard.

The Sanicompact combines a vitreous china toilet bowl and- ½”

W x 21-½” D. Indoors, it can be located up to 9 feet below the sewer line, such as in a basement. But outdoors, it can be positioned as far as 120 feet from a soil stack or sewer connection.

Handling solid and liquid effluent, the system needs no gravity-flow tank for flushing. Simply pressing a push-button on top of the Sanicompact triggers the flushing action and macerating pump cycle. The flushing mechanism is electrically timed to allow water to pass through the toilet and then discharge through a 1-¼-inch connection in the back of the unit.

This connection can be rotated 360 degrees to fit any type of preexisting pipe configuration, saving installation time and hassles. A non-return valve attached to this elbow at the factory prevents backflow into the unit.

Standing there listening to my husband’s vows was a favorite moment for me. I had told him I didn’t need a wedding band and he surprised me with one anyway! We also had a sand unity ceremony that created a special keepsake.

{ Bride’s Advice }

Don’t stress about the little things! Also - hire a videographer or appoint someone to take videos during the ceremony. You can still have an unplugged ceremony with just one specific person allowed to take videos.

By incorporating lush greenery and carefully selecting outdoor furniture, the space was transformed into an inviting haven radiating serenity and elegance.

During the construction process, various challenges were encountered. However, with careful planning, expertise, and effective problem-solving, these challenges were overcome. Site assessment and preparation were crucial in addressing terrain, soil, and utility issues. Thorough inspections and the involvement of experienced professionals ensured a solid foundation for the pool.

Obtaining permits and complying with regulations presented another set of challenges. The team proactively stayed up to date with building codes, secured the necessary permits, and collaborated closely with regulatory authorities to streamline the process and avoid delays.

Design and customization were carefully addressed to meet the homeowners’ specific requirements. The team worked closely with the homeowners, providing design options that aligned with their needs while ensuring the pool's structural integrity and functionality were maintained.

Budget considerations played a significant role in this project. The team emphasized the importance of allocating funds wisely to enhance the pool's longevity and aesthetics. Investing in high-quality materials, robust plumbing systems, reliable filtration equipment, and pool safety features reduces long-term maintenance and repair costs. Simplifying pool shapes and prioritizing essential accessories helped reduce costs without compromising functionality or visual appeal.

Lemon Vertical Stripe Cake

The perfect addition to your wedding dessert bar or as a centerpiece for a bridal shower, birthday party or any event that calls for a delicious, summery dessert!

Candied Lemon Slices:

2 lemons

1 cup granulated sugar

Cake:

3 whole large eggs, at room temperature

2 large egg yolks

3/4 cup granulated sugar, divided finely grated zest from 2 lemons

3 large egg whites

1 cup cake and pastry flour icing sugar, for dusting

Swiss Buttercream:

5 large egg whites

1 1/4 cups granulated sugar

1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, at room temperature and cut into pieces

2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp lemon extract or finely grated zest from 1 lemon yellow food colour (optional)

Candied Lemon Slices

Thinly slice lemons and remove seeds. Bring sugar and 1 cup water to a simmer on medium heat, stirring until sugar has dissolved. Drop in lemon slices and reduce heat. Gently simmer for 4 minutes, then remove pan from heat and let lemons cool to room temperature and turn into a syrup.

Preheat oven to 150°F on the Air Sous Vide setting. Drain candied lemon slices and reserve syrup (chill until ready to use). Arrange lemon slices on parchment-lined baking tray. Dry lemon slices in oven for about 9 minutes – they should peel away from the paper easily. Cool lemon slices and pack in an airtight container.

Cake

Preheat the oven to 375°F on the ProBake Convection® setting. Line 12-x-16-inch baking pan with parchment paper.

Whip egg whites starting on low speed until foamy, and then increasing to high, adding 6 Tbsp of the sugar gradually. Continue to whip until whites hold a medium peak when the beaters are lifted. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, whisk whole eggs, eggs yolk, remaining 6 Tbsp of sugar, lemon zest and vanilla in a metal bowl placed over a pot of gently simmering water until it is just warmer than body temperature. Remove bowl from heat and whip eggs on high speed until

they have doubled in volume (about 4 minutes.)

Sift flour over whipped whole egg mixture and fold in using a whisk, then fold in the whipped whites in two additions. Spread this on the prepared pan, being sure that the batter is level and even. Bake for about 12 minutes, until it springs back when gently pressed.

Let the cake cool for about 2 minutes on a cooling rack, then loosen the sides with a spatula. Sift a layer of icing sugar over the surface of the cake and cover with a clean tea towel. Place a second cake pan over the towel and quickly invert the cake, removing the pan it was baked in. Peel off the parchment paper and dust this surface with icing sugar. Roll up the warm cake and the tea towel from a short side and let it cool to room temperature.

Swiss Buttercream

Place egg whites and sugar in a metal bowl and set it over a saucepan filled with 2 inches of gently simmering water. Whisk constantly (but not vigorously) until the mixture reaches 140°F (60°C) on a candy thermometer (about 5 minutes.)

Whip on high speed until the meringue has cooled to room temperature (it will hold a stiff peak by then).

With the mixer running on high speed, add butter a few pieces at a time. At first the meringue will hold its volume, then the buttercream will deflate a little and become very creamy yet fluffy looking. Add lemon juice, vanilla, extract (or zest) and food coloring.

Assemble

To assemble the cake, unroll and remove the tea towel. Cut cake lengthwise into three equal strips and brush each lightly with the reserved lemon syrup. Spread an even but not-too-thick layer of lemon buttercream on each strip of cake. Roll up one layer from a short side into a spiral and place this upright onto a cake plate or platter. Wrap the second strip of cake around the first, making sure to have the short ends meet, to create a continuous spiral. Repeat with the third strip of cake. Cover the top and sides of the cake with frosting. Add any piping detail you wish. Press the candied lemon slices onto the sides and top of the cake and chill for at least 2 hours. To serve, let the cake sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before slicing.

The cake can be assembled a full day ahead of serving. Any leftover cake can be chilled with the cut portion covered for up to 2 days, or can be frozen for up to 3 months.

Sweet Potato Ravioli

with Brown Butter Pecan Sauce

INGREDIENTS

1 pkg Quesava Sweet Potato Ravioli

1/2 cup salted butter

1/2 cup pecans

1 tsp chopped fresh thyme salt and pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS

Cook Quesava's Sweet Potato Ravioli in boiling water for 4-6 minutes until they float. Remove one at a time with a slotted spoon.

Melt butter over medium heat in a pan. Once butter foams, add pecans. Stir constantly until pecans are lightly roasts and butter is browned with a nutty aroma - approximately 2 minutes. CHEF'S TIP: It's important to keep an eye on the

butter and pecan mixture this as it can easily burn. Do not let the mixture cook past light brown.

Add in thyme, salt, and pepper. Toss in and coat Quesava's cooked Sweet Potato Ravioli. Add reserved pasta water a little at a time until the sauce reaches desired consistency. Adjust the seasoning to taste. Serve immediately.

With the goal to create a fresh herb/ garden feel, evoking a sense of freshness, homeliness, and warmth, the homeowners enlisted the assistance of Taylor Reiko Design. The challenge they faced was that the home, built in the ‘70s, had its own unique architectural geometry behind the existing millwork. Despite this, Taylor ensured that the full renovation maintained the original layout, while making specific millwork customizations to achieve a cohesive space.

A notable design choice was the implementation of two-tone cabinetry. Taylor decided to use a lighter hue on the upper cabinets and a darker hue on the lower cabinets, creating the illusion of spaciousness and airiness. This contrast was beautifully complemented by black hardware, appliances, and fittings, providing the perfect amount of visual contrast.

To maximize functionality and aesthetics, Taylor's team customdesigned corner shelving. These shelves were meticulously crafted to allow the client to display their favorite items as highlighting pieces. Recessed under cabinet lighting was

strategically installed to enhance the display, while hidden storage compartments were integrated at the back of the shelves, providing a solution for storing seasonal items.

Following a modern minimalist approach, Taylor opted for painted slab doors, which added to the clean lines and simplicity of the design. They took it a step further by extending the countertop all the way up to serve as the backsplash, resulting in a seamless, uninterrupted surface that contributed to the overall contemporary feel of the kitchen.

One of Taylor's favorite features of this project is the seamless transition between the kitchen and the garden. Taking into account the client's preference for abundant natural light, they chose not to install window coverings. This decision allowed the natural southwest light to fill the space throughout the day. The carefully selected muted green hues, combined with olive tones, successfully brought the outdoor feel indoors, connecting the kitchen with the surrounding garden.

This house underwent a breathtaking transformation that turned it into a dream home. We had the privilege of exploring the remarkable renovation project and speaking with the talented team behind it.

The homeowners faced a decision between moving or renovating due to their love for the community and a need for improved flow and space. The kitchen, in particular, required attention. The design team embarked on a mission to strike a balance between creative space planning and a style that would satisfy the entire family. The result? A cohesive design that meets both practical and aesthetic needs.

The family's desire for an airy ambiance led them to opt for a light and bright color scheme with tasteful darker accents. The outcome is a clean and minimalistic theme with subtle Scandinavian and Mid Century Modern influences. The carefully selected colors and design elements create a serene and sophisticated atmosphere throughout the renovated space.

To avoid unnecessary expenses, the team chose not to remove the load-bearing wall between the kitchen and living room. Instead, they focused on space optimization by incorporating a spacious kitchen island and rearranging furniture in the adjacent back room. This decision enabled the homeowners to achieve the desired open look without compromising the budget.

One of the most noteworthy features of this renovation is the stunning home office. With one homeowner working remotely part-time, a well-designed workspace was crucial. Previously, the basement housed a small desk surrounded by unfinished walls and a cold concrete floor. In their quest for ample natural light and an open feel, the design team incorporated a stunning glass wall and doors into the home office. With no windows in this area, the glass features became the focal point, creating a sense of

Every renovation project encounters hurdles, and this transformation was no exception. Initially, the plan was to stain the existing dark hardwood floors. However, the desired stain color did not adhere as expected, resulting in a darker shade. The team quickly adapted and discovered that the natural blonde state of the floors was even more stunning than planned. This happy accident resulted in an outcome that surpassed expectations.

What began as a simple renovation endeavor blossomed into a truly awe-inspiring transformation The homeowners' vision, combined with the expertise of the design team, turned a house into a dream home. The seamless blend of functionality, style, and creativity has resulted in a space that perfectly reflects the family's needs and desires. The play of scale was a crucial design principle employed in this expansive space. By combining larger-scale items with more subdued elements, the design avoids overwhelming the area. This approach allows for visual interest, inviting spaces for relaxation and exploration, and ensures a harmonious balance for both the eyes and the body.

Every piece of furniture in this home was custom-made, providing the opportunity to select precise measurements, finishes, and materials. This flexibility enabled the design team to bring their vision to life and create unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. Collaborating with skilled craftsmen and artisans ensured the realization of intricate details and finishes, such as the custom fireplace and perfectly matched wood trim.

Throughout the design process, the homeowner's preferences and requirements were carefully

A Makeover for a Women's Shelter

In May, the team at Imajen Design + Decor had the remarkable opportunity to partner with Juillette’s Place, a women's shelter dedicated to providing safety and support for women and their children fleeing domestic violence. With a shared vision of creating a nurturing environment, the team embarked on a mission to transform a much-needed space within the shelter.

The room in question was the wellness room, a sanctuary where women could find solace and engage in various healthy activities. The team aimed to design a space that would offer multiple purposes, allowing the women to engage in activities such as reading, working out, journaling, nail care, and arts. By providing these outlets, the hope was to empower the women and facilitate their journey of healing and planning for the future.

One of the standout aspects of this project was the knowledge that the space they were creating would have a profound impact on women trying to rebuild their lives. The understanding that their efforts would contribute to the well-being and empowerment of these individuals filled the team with a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment.

However, transforming the wellness room came with its fair share of challenges. The limited space presented a creative hurdle that the team had to overcome. The team aimed to design a room that was not only multi-purpose but also provided a degree of privacy when more than one woman was using the space. To address this, they utilized a divider that doubled as a plant stand, ingeniously creating a private reading nook.

When it came to allocating resources, the team carefully considered where to splurge and where to save. They invested in quality light fixtures, a wall shelf, and area rugs to define the different areas within the room. On the other hand, they found cost-effective solutions by repurposing the original bookshelf with baskets and utilizing a chair that was already present in the room.

Reflecting on the experience, the team shared valuable advice for potential clients. They emphasized the importance of good design, where functionality and aesthetics seamlessly merge. Despite the limited space, they were able to create a beautiful room that served multiple functions through thoughtful and intelligent design choices.

In supporting the cause of Juillette’s Place, Imajen Design + Décor shed light on the shelter's dependence on donations and government funding to operate. Unfortunately, revitalizing spaces within the shelter is not always prioritized due to resource constraints. The transformation of the wellness room, and future projects like the upcoming Children's Room, are made possible through the generous support of public donations. How do you balance the demands of running a successful business with your personal life and well-being?

I definitely struggle with this and my scale is often very heavily weighted on my business but in the past few years I have tried to do more for myself. I do yoga on Wednesday night's religiously. This gets me out of the Dealership on time and allows me to disconnect and recharge. I enjoy travel even if it's just away for a weekend trip locally. I love a last minute day trip to the Beach on Lake Huron.
