Art’s Alive to Perform at Jewitt Norris
Art’s Alive Presents Three Performances of The Hallelujah Girls October 25-26.
What do mud packs and facials have to do with church? On October 25th and 26th, you’ll find out when Art’s Alive presents The Hallelujah Girls. This comedy by Jones, Hope, and Wooten promises as many laughs as last year’s Savannah Sipping Society. Sugar Lee (Tara Fulk) buys [See ART, Page 2
On October 7th through the 10th, communities across the nation will be recognizing their publicly owned electric utility and all that it does for the community. Trenton Municipal Utilities will join with 2000 other municipal utilities to celebrate the 38th Annual Public Power Week. On October 11th, a Customer Appreciation Open House will be held at City Hall. Cookies and punch will be served from 9:00 to noon.

Edinburgh Friends will meet Saturday, October 12 at 11:30 at China One Restaurant in Trenton, Missouri. Edinburgh Friends is a group of former students and friends of the Edinburgh school, all who attended are encouraged to come to the
meeting to share memories.
Attendees are asked to come prepared to talk about their teachers, recess, their favorite subject area, and other events at the Edinburgh Elementary School. Contacts for this meeting are Marilyn Woodward Bain and Dorothy Taul.

Trenton Little League Football hosted the Palmyra Panthers Saturday (28th) at CF Russell Stadium. The 5th grade team came away with a win 18-0 and have a season record of 2-0. The 6th grade game ended with a tie 12-12 which makes their record 0-1-1.
The Bulldogs will see action again at home on Saturday, October 5th against the Tigers of Kirksville. Games begin at 5:00

Sugar Lee’s archrival, Bunny Southerland (Sarah Pauley), plots to condemn the new business when it begins to succeed. Add an ex-boyfriend (Josh Vance) and an unlikely suitor (Mark Hackathorn) to the mix and you will be shouting Hallelujah!

The annual Hobbs reunion was held on Sunday, September 8th at Moberly Park with 25 in attendance. A luncheon was held during the noon hour.
A business meeting was held after the luncheon and new officers were elected. They were Rick Kinion, President, Brian Loyall, Vice President, and Karen Miller, Secretary and Treasurer, Tammy Golden and Mary Lou Ellis, the program committee. Next year's reunion will be held on the second Sunday in
September, 2025. The afternoon was spent visiting. A good time was enjoyed by all. Those attending were: Donald Aderholt, Carol Aderholt, Barbara Watkins, Betty Horstman, Mindy and Todd Wilson, Mary Lou Ellis, Leona Kinion, Betty Brittain, Gary Plummer, TJ Golden, Karen Miller, Christine Kincaid, Jo Ann Sawyer, Rick Kinio, Loretta Tunnell, Kamla Vasquez, Konnar Vasquez, Karizma Vasquez and Jeanae Mitchell & Carl Kinion Jr.
The Trenton High School fall sports coaches presented the program at the Thursday, Sept. 26 meeting of the Trenton Rotary Club, held at the BTC Bank community room. Jackie Soptic presided at the meeting, Dan Wilford gave the prayer and Brian Upton was the sergeant at arms.
Program Chairman Doug Tye introduced Athletic Director John Cowling, who provided information abut the girls golf team in the absence of Coach Travis Mullenix, who was at a tournament with his team. There are five members this year, including three seniors. The team has continued to show improvement throughout the season, placing second at the Gallatin Tournament, with Reece Weldon finishing second individually. The team had its best score at the Lawson Tournament. The GRC Golf Tournament will be held on Oct. 7 at Chillicothe, with the district tournament scheduled at Moberly on Oct. 9, Girls softball coach Madi Stillwell said there are nine seniors on the team this year, which as of Thursday had a
record of 6-7. She said the team has been in all games, with the losses coming in either extra innings or being within one or two runs. The team’s “Pink Out” game will be held on Oct. 8 and Trenton will be hosting the district softball tournament on Oct. 16, 17 and 21.
Girls tennis coach Sara Sager said her team has played some very tough competition and had a record as of Thursday of 2-4. Five of the top 6 players are seniors, led by Astrid Soriano, who has medaled in tournament play. Senior Night was scheduled for Oct. 1, with the district tournament being Oct. 10 for individual play and Oct. 14 for team play.
Girls volleyball coach Brad Ewald has 28 team members, including just two seniors and six juniors. The team had a record of 3-12-2 and was scheduled to play in the Hy-Vee Classic in Kansas City on Sept. 28. The district tournament will be held in October.

Billy, Lila, and Danny Searcy hosted a picnic at their home on Sunday, September 22. It was held outdoors following the morning worship service. It was a time of food, fun and fellowship.
On Monday, September 23 at 1:30 p.m., Carol Wilford was among the ladies who attended the Town and Country Garden Club at the home of Naomi Starkebaum in Trenton.
On Wednesday, September 25, K – 8 students at Laredo R-VII School traveled to Kearny, MO, for a field trip to the Fun Farm
Pumpkin Patch. Students enjoyed feeding the animals in the petting zoo, sliding down the big slide, going on the merry-goround, and playing in the tree houses. Other activities included the corn pit, corn maze, and bouncy pillows. Each student got to take home a pumpkin.
Alex Marsh joined 17 others at Moberly Park at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, to participate in a Tie Dye T-Shirt activity. Dan Wilford was one of the 6 volunteers for this event.

The Grand River Valley Choir and Orchestra will begin their 8 weekly Tuesday rehearsals October 22, 6:30-8:30 pm; choir in the THS Choir Room, Orchestra in the THS Band Room. The first rehearsal will begin at 6:00.

The GRVCO Winter Concert Concert is scheduled for December 14 at 3:30 p.m. in the Trenton RIX Performing Arts Center. A variety of seasonal music will be performed. As plans develop, they will be shared through the news media, Trenton Chamber of Commerce, area churches, the GRVCO website, and our Facebook Page.
The Grundy County Republican Central Committee met Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2024 at the Republican Headquarters to adopt the Bylaws and discuss Amendment 3 and makes plans to defeat it.Chairman, Ben Thomas, called the meeting to order.
Dennis McDonald opened with prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. The committee members were joined by 8 Pastors representing the churches in our county.
Secretary, Mary Axtell, read the minutes for the September 10th meeting. Minutes were approved as read.
Treasurer, J.A. Keuhn reported a starting balance of $5027 with expenditures of $625.00 for the digital signage on Amend-
ment 3 and fees paid of $25.00 for the MO Day float entry and a deposit of $691.00 from sale of merchandise and donations netting a final balance of $5068.00.
Mary Axtell gave a report on the Bylaws. Discussion was made to strike Sec. 3.2 (B) and amend Sec. 6.2 to meetings as needed. Derek Rorebeck made a motion to adopt the Bylaws and the second by Dennis McDonald. The Bylaws were approved.

The North Central Missouri College Board of Trustees met in regular session on September 24, 2024. During the meeting, Trustees heard communication reports and took action on head start items, bids and purchases, a board policy revision, and personnel items.
In communication reports, Angela Heins, SSS Assistant Director, discussed her new position and plans for her role. Jenny Lewis, Head Start Director, provided information on playground equipment and the Chillicothe toddler classroom opening on October 1. Lewis discussed job openings and enrollment. Dr. Tristan Londre, Vice President of Academic Affairs, provided information about an upcoming homeschool visit day, Talent Search's reaching their target number of students served, and an upcoming HLC site visit on November 5. Londre also discussed the enrollment breakdown by campus. Dr. Kristen Alley, Vice President of Student Affairs, provided information on students attending the MCCA Student Leadership Institute, commencement planning, and residence hall fire drills. Alley discussed a successful VA and financial aid
audit, upcoming A+ coordinator meetings, and PTK induction. She also discussed spring advisement, counselor access, upcoming events and deadlines, and efforts to prevent fraud on student accounts. Chief Information Officer Jennifer Triplett provided information on SIS replacement efforts, Savannah Testing Center expansion, and efforts on digital fax implementation. President Dr. Lenny Klaver discussed plans for a building project at the Barton Farm campus that would allow livestock judging, precision ag classroom, and several other features to enhance Barton Farm. He also provided information on a recent Altec tour, fall enrollment, and enrollment increases over the last eight years. Klaver discussed the recent successful audit, WDB, workforce development efforts and services, state core funding, and upcoming meetings. NCMC enrollment has reached a record high for the second year. In business items, trustees approved several Head Start items, including the new community assessment for the 2024-2025 year, the annual program report, a new non-competing continuation grant application, and the in-kind
volunteer hourly rate increase. Trustees approved the purchase of testing/accreditation supplies from ATI for the nursing programs, a bid from EllisonAuxier to develop a campus master plan, and payment to Daikin TMI for repairs to the Geyer Hall HVAC system. They also approved a list of industrial technology obsolete equipment as surplus property. Trustees also approved changes to the faculty senate constitution to add a faculty senate technology committee.
Regarding personnel items, trustees approved a Head Start hire of Marissa Hefele as a teacher for the Chillicothe toddler room. For NCMC, trustees approved the title change and job description for Holly Hernandez as TRIO Academic Advisor and the contract change for John Wilbur, TRIO Learning Specialist. Trustees approved the employment of Casey McCollum as Enrollment Marketing Specialist and Sue Nichols as adjunct/clinical instructor.
The next regular meeting of the NCMC Board of Trustees will be on October 22, 2024, at 5:30 pm in the Frey Administrative Center on the Main Campus in Trenton, MO.

The Gallatin Lady Golf team has been busy this September, After competing at the Albany meet on September 10th, where they did not place, the team returned home to Gallatin on September 12th and took first place as a team. Individually, Jayda Curtis-Mazur achieved a personal record, finishing in second place with a 52, while LeAyrah

Leeper secured fifth place with a 54.
Following their success at the home meet, the team participated in a home tournament on September 17th, where they placed third overall, with Olivia Schweizer finishing ninth out of 42 golfers with a 108. The Lady Golfers continued their strong performance at another home meet on Sep-
tember 19th, where they again took second place as a team.
On September 23rd, the Gallatin Ladies participated in a best shot tournament in Albany. Although they did not place, the team enjoyed the experience. Looking ahead, they are excited for the Maysville tournament on September 26th and their final home meet on September 30th, which will also be Senior Night. The girls are committed to working hard and playing to the best of their abilities as they aim to finish the season strong. Go Lady Golf!
