ward lines on Monday, November 20, in the hopes that the new boundaries will clear up confusion about the wards while also better balancing the populations of each ward. In the plan approved Monday, Ward 1 has a population of

775, Ward 2 has 719 residents, and Ward 3 has 728 residents. This puts all three wards within 10 percent of each other, the accepted standard. Council members Clyde May, Richard Stanley, Sue Malone and Scott Gordee voted in favor of the

new wards on Monday. Fellow Council members Ken Tongue and John Mirosh were unable to attend the meeting. The boundary line for Ward 1 begins at the intersection of Clay ||Continued on A2

In a short meeting, Monday, November 13, the Gower City Council received updates on the Gregory Drive project, as well as on the SS4A and MoDOT TAP updates. There were no visitors attending this meeting. Under old business, City Administrator Carroll Fisher reported to the council that the culvert along Field Street is in; he retention pond will need some additional height added to the dam, but overall is ready to hold rain runoff. Mayor Ken Pike told the council that the annexation of the right-of-way from Heritage Park to the west requires a 14-day period to see if there are objections to this request. If more than five percent of the total voters in the city object, the process will take longer. He also said that this annexation and the annexation request from the East Buchanan School District will require separate public hearings, as these two issues can’t be combined. Mayor Pike informed the council that, regarding the SS4A and MoDOT TAP proj-

Both the East Buchanan Bulldogs and Plattsburg Tigers put together historic 2023 seasons, but the magic ended this past week, as both teams were eliminated from the state playoffs in the quarterfinal round. ARTS

The Plattsburg Community Betterment and Arts Council is asking artists to apply to create a second mural downtown. The mural, which will honor the historic Jefferson Highway and its place in Plattsburg’s story, will be on the west side of Tinnen Town Hall facing Main Street. The artist will have the freedom to interpret

but will be asked to include certain details. The council will interview artists by December 13 and the deadline for completion is May 1, 2024. The artists will also have a chance to submit for two other murals on the laundromat and American Legion (restoration) on Locust Street.

The Community Betterment and Arts Council works to beautify Plattsburg and make it a better place to live and work. The council spearheaded the recent addition of native birds mural on the north side of the State Farm building on Maple Street. The council is also aiming to host a guest speaker and a second quilt show, add artwork to a

third window at the Clinton County Courthouse, and publish a local coloring book. For more information on the mural project, or the Plattsburg Community Betterment and Arts Council, you can contact Laurel DeFreece at (816) 225-8988.
