Trustees Hear from Student Senate and Approve Savannah Parking Lot The North Central Missouri College Board of Trustees met in regular session on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. During the meeting, trustees heard communication reports and approved several items in new business. In communication reports, trustees heard from several students in attendance representing the education department and Student Senate. Students introduced themselves to the board and the Student Senate President, Sawyer McCallon, discussed Student Senate efforts. Also in communication, the trustees heard from Sue Nichols, Interim Dean/Director of the Savannah Campus on an update about

Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Tristan Londre discussed programs for next fall, an upcoming PAS conference on campus, a visit from the Missouri State Board of Nursing and Northwest Missouri State University. He also discussed a grant NCMC received from the Department of Education for NCMC’s education program. Dr. Kristen Alley, Vice President of Student Affairs, discussed Student Senate and their efforts, and a feature NCMC has in the American College Health Association publication, Sawyer speaking at MCCA, Registrar efforts [See NCMC, Page 2]

On Saturday, October 28, six choir members represented Trenton High School at the Northwest Missouri All-District Choir in Platte City, including, from left, Sofia Currie, Ronald Woods, Garrison Otto, Brayden Bell, Caleb Campbell and Evelyn Mehrhoff. Campbell was also selected as Honorable Mention for the Missouri AllState Choir.

Gallatin R-V to Rebid Snow Removal for 2024 School Year BRIEFS The Gallatin R-V Board of Education met on Thurssday, October 19 at 6 p.m. in the middle school functional skills classroom with seven members present, along with Superintendent Dr. Justin Collins, MS Principal Chris Wever, HS Principal Brent Burke, AD Chad Sullenger and Board Secretary Carrie Holcomb. Varsity softball seniors Betty Rogers, Abigail Burns, Ashley Feiden, Anabelle Ball and Alex Endicott lead the board in the Pledge of Allegiance. Dr. Collins requested to amend

the agenda by adding Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) & End of Course (EOC) Assessment Review to New business, which was approved by the board. The open minutes from the September 20 board meeting and the payment of all bills were also approved. Reports were given by Dr. Collins, Principal Burke, Principal Wever and AD Sullenger. Dr. Collins gave Principal Thogmartin’s report in her absence. Dr. Collins presented a report for the Vocational Family and Consumer

Science Program. Snow removal bids were reviewed. Dr. Collins reviewed the MAP & EOC Assessments from Spring 2023. Amy Holder gave a presentation for the Gallatin Community Teacher Association. The board moved into closed session with the following announcements made: • approved the reopening of the bidding process for snow removal for the 2024 school year. • approved the offering of a paraprofessional position to Tiffany

NCMC to Host 2023 Missouri PAS Conference The 2023 Missouri Professional Agriculture Student (PAS) Organization Conference will be held on the North Central Missouri College Campus in Trenton November 7-9. This year’s conference is being coordinated by the NCMC Agriculture Natural Resources Department and sponsored by FCS Financial and Heritage Tractor. Missouri PAS Treasurer Joshua Eckert, an NCMC sophomore Agriculture major from Chillicothe, is helping lead the local effort. More than 120 agriculture students from six Missouri post-secondary institutions are expected to compete in career development activities, attend leadership workshops, and elect state officers for next year. Featured session speakers will be

former agriculture instructor and current Missouri State Senator Rusty Black from Chillicothe and Cooper Hamlin, National PAS Vice President from State Fair Community College. Conference participants will also have the opportunity to attend an agriculture career fair, providing them with the opportunity to network and explore internship and career opportunities with agribusiness companies, along with touring Trans-Ova Genetics and MFA, Inc. Hamilton Rail Facility. Approximately 30 regional agricultural and educational leaders have agreed to serve as judges for the career interview section of the conference. Spickard R-II Names October Top Pirate Spickard R-II recently held their first quarter awards assembly, naming Red and Black Honor Roll and AR Reading Heroes, along with Top Pirate and Top Teammate awards. Named to the Red Honor Roll (A) were Nolan Allen, Remington Etter, Indillin Allen, Zoey Eakes, Alice Tharp and Annyston Vandever. Named to the Black Honor Roll (B) were Emmitt Marrs, TaraLynn Stiner, Tyler Canady, Mason Wilson, Carter Wyatt, Sophia Persell,

Jacob Wilson-Hay and Forest Sharp. AR Reading Heroes included Nolan Allen, Remington Etter, Emmitt Marrs, Bentley Adams, IndiLinn Allen, Zoey Eakes, TaraLynn Stiner, Alice Tharp, Annyston Vandever, Tyler Canady, Trinity Chapman, Mason Wilson, Carter Wyatt, Taylor Mantlo, Sophia Persell, Jacob WilsonHay and Forest Sharp Emmitt Marrs received the October Top Pirate Award and the October Top Teammate Award went to Jessica Wilson.

WMPG Has Moderna Vaccine

Wright Memorial Physicians’ Group in Trenton has announced they are currently scheduling Moderna COVID-19 vaccinations designed to target the most current circulating COVID19 variants. Doses are available for persons 12 years and older who are an established patient of Wright Memorial Physicians’ Group or Saint Luke’s Mercer County Clinic. All patients will be monitored for 15 minutes after the injection. To schedule an appointment, call Wright Memorial Physicians’ Group at 660-358-5750.
