Diagnosis: Rupture of the Proximal Long Head Biceps Tendon with Retraction of the Tendon Stump
Retracted rupture of the long head biceps tendon is well demonstrated on sonographic imaging.
Complex fluid often fills the tendon sheath in place of the retracted tendon and care must be taken not to mistake this hematoma for tendon tissue.
History is suggestive, with patients often reporting a lifting injury associated with a tearing or popping sensation.
