Social Work Services
The goal of the center is to give our lupus and antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) patients a better quality of life.
The Department of Social Work Programs offers help to cope with your illness, such as supportive counseling and referrals to community resources.
We aim to provide the highest quality of patient care by partnering with our patients in managing their illnesses, enhancing the quality of their lives and advancing research to define risk factors, mediators and therapies for lupus and APS. Along with a comprehensive assessment of expert physicians in a multidisciplinary fashion, patients can access world-class social work, research, nursing services and patient educational programs.

Educational Resources from the Nursing Department The HSS rheumatology nurses are a valuable resource for our patients, as they teach them how to manage their health. Their programs are targeted at issues faced by patients with lupus and APS. Topics include: • What is lupus/APS? • Diabetes counseling • Contraception counseling and education • Cardiovascular disease prevention • Injection instructions
