Hospital for Special Surgery Hand Therapy Center, 2W-200 535 East 70th Street, New York City Overview
The hand therapy staff at Hospital for Special Surgery believes that splinting is an art and that practice makes perfect. Hands-on experience is critical when learning basic and advanced splinting techniques. The hand therapy staff invites you to improve your current splinting abilities while participating in our structured and guided splinting workshop. We will provide the opportunity to create a variety of commonly prescribed splints during our one-day workshop. Competency in the fabrication of these splints is invaluable for therapists who treat the upper extremity and manage common elbow, wrist and hand diagnoses. Three types of thermoplastic materials will be used and their properties discussed. Workshop space will be limited to ensure an intimate learning environment. target audience
This activity is targeted to physical and occupational therapists, physical therapy assistants and certified occupational therapist assistants who specialize in the treatment of the upper extremity and want to develop and enhance their current splinting skills. No prior splinting experience is needed to participate. learning objectives
