T

he Year of 2015 has marked us in so many ways. In Brazil President Dilma Roussef started her second term in January and people were already asking for her impeachment, Protest and confusion has taken the country hostage. What started happening more than a year ago has drastically escalated. From small groups protesting isolated, the feeling of injustice and satisfaction has also taken over the people who now, together, scream for a better country. The dream is over, and the people really lost their chance to a better life. Corruption, poverty, lack of trust in the government and the strong possibility of the President’s impeachment are haunting the nation, leaving people with a bigger question, what is next? Considering the operation Car Wash, investigating the PETROBRAS Scandal, more and more is found everyday, in a wrath of shame and anger. Along with it, the economy is in the worst situation ever, it may take ten years to recuperate from this blast, if the Party in control is successfully removed and they can dig their way out of it. The future is uncertain, and it doesn’t offer much but the country and the people can still surprise us. In a recent polemic interview given to Journalist Jo Soares on Globo TV, President Dilma Roussef said :

“People without hope can’t build the future” I hear it, sounds great, but where is the part where you are held accountable for taking that hope away? Brazilians are the professionals of hope, always thinking it will get better, it will change. Now they have come to the realization it will not change unless you do something about it. And from hope to action on the streets, Brazilians are either fighting or leaving the country pursuing for a better life somewhere else. In the US, Obama has issued an Executive order that was applauded by many and rejected by the Republican majority, causing more delays in the so needed Immigration Reform which now, looks like will be left for the next president. Gay marriage is now a reality and there is nothing else anyone can do it. We are marching through old issues, revisiting years of neglecting people their most absolute rights, and there is no looking the other way. No closet, no dictatorship, no corruption, no to labels, and excuses. For us in Orlando, Kaka arrived to play, the Lions Stadium increased sizes and became a private effort and investment. The Magic continues its makeover and the Tourism Season wasn’t what we needed to be. Meanwhile, investors are arriving and Orlando grows like no other City, Best Place to Live, with the worst traffic, but in the Magical City, nothing is ever unbearable and we manage with our own magical switch. I love to look behind, contemplate about things that have happened and caused significant changes, but I wonder what will happen next, when this running for success with such large accelerated steps comes to slow down. What will happen? What will we face? The world is constantly changing and taking a turn to the greatest challenges, we are walking on a thin line, looking around in the world is not exactly a walk in the park. Things are really crazy out there. I hope we can keep things peaceful here. In Brazil another major protest is scheduled, let’s hope everything goes well.

Orlando City SC today announced it has traded goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts to the LA Galaxy for a second round pick in the 2016 Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft. Additional details were not disclosed. Ricketts joined Orlando City after being selected first overall in the 2015 MLS Expansion Draft from the Portland Timbers. The veteran goalkeeper started ten matches for the Lions early in the 2015 season, including the March 8 inaugural MLS match against New York City FC. Burnett said that the Magic are far more than just a professional basketball franchise and their reach extends into the well-being of those in the community. “It means so much for the Magic to be an advocate for us and to come into the community and engage the kids and show their support,” Burnett said. “It shows that the Magic are community-oriented and we appreciate everything that they do.”

MAGIC FIT’s purpose is to teach children the importance of physical activity through music and dance. Dance teams from the Rosemont Community Center, Jackson Center and Smith Center competed in the event with the Jackson Center Superstars taking first place and the Jackson Fusion winning second. Na segunda metade do século passado, surgia a NASL, buscando efetuar os primeiros passos do "soccer" na América do Norte,e já tão badalado no mundo inteiro, menos por lá. Começando com tudo, incluindo nomes como Pelé, Beckenbauer e Carlos Alberto logo de cara, estádios lotados e uma Copa do Mundo no país em 1994 para aumentar a visibilidade, a primeira e até então maior liga de futebol da América do Norte parecia ter tudo para crescer. Pois bem, faliu. A falta de planejamento econômico e projetista extinguiu a liga, dando lugarà MLS, que é, até hoje, a grande força do futebol estadunidense, progredindo sem parar. Porém, em meados do ano passado, a volta da tradicional NASL começou a ser projetada. A volta de equipes como o Cosmos, a formação de novos clubes, novas tendências e ambições, investimentos em bons jogadores como Leonardo Moura e Kleberson. Grandes ambições com algumas pequenas divergências comparando-a com a primcipal liga norte-americana. Afinal, na MLS, a liga é dona dos clubes. Na NASL, os clubes são donos da liga. Não há teto ou piso salarial, e os clubes tomam suas decisões próprias. Mas por que essa diferença se as principais páginas de economia e gestão rasgavam elogios ao esquema da MLS? Simples. Ronda-se aos montes notícias de que há problemas de transporte, organização e até falta de vestiários. Segundo especulações, alguns clubes precisam trocar-se dentro de trailers para ir à campo. Além disso, quanto à qualidade técnica, não há necessidade de se comentar nada. Similares aos times de pelada, mas bem longe dos peladeiros brasileiros, afinal, seria um desacato ao futebol brazuca de rua. Inaugural Orange County Sculpture Exhibit Opens

Orange County officials, artists and citizens recently gathered for the unveiling of a new art exhibit of five large sculptures on the lawn of the Orange County Administration Center. Below and attached is information. I hope this is something you can mention in Hot Spot Orlando Thank you!

The five sculptures, selected by Orange County’s Public Art Review Board, among more than 100 sculptures submitted by nearly three dozen artists. Four of the sculptures will show for a year and one to be displayed for the opening month. The Public Art Review Board, overseen by the Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs Advisory Council (ACAAC), surveyed temporary sculpture programs throughout the state before committing to the exhibit. The board raised $20,000 in private funds to present the exhibition and rent the sculptures from the artists. Lighting to be installed in the near future and the board hopes to make the exhibit an annual event.

Clerk's Office Launches New my eClerk Website On Tuesday, June 30, the Orange County Clerk of Courts rolled out its new my eClerk website for online viewing of public court records. The launch caps several months of work by our office developing the new website as part of the Clerk’s Technology Strategy, as well as in response to a Florida Supreme Court administrative order. While we certainly experienced a few challenges during launch week, I am pleased to report that the system is performing beyond our expectations. For those of you who experienced a change in functionality with the roll out of the new site, know that our project team continues to review performance and apply updates where appropriate. Since the launch of my eClerk, the initial web traffic statistics have been impressive. In the first three-plus days, there were nearly 180,000 searches and more than 160,000 case views. Perhaps even more impressive, during that same time period visitors viewed 96,218 documents online. And that’s only in the first few days. We look forward to receiving additional feedback from our customers as more of you have a chance to use the site and share your thoughts.

Clerk's Office Participates in Successful Restoration of Rights Workshop

Saturday, June 13th at Wheatley Elementary School in Apopka—was an unqualified success. The event, the third sealing and expungement this year for the Clerk’s Office, attracted a crowd of more than 100 participants. As is usually the case, members of our Criminal and Technology teams were on site to serve the more than 60 customers requesting certified copies of court records. Our services were so much in demand that deputy clerks were required to complete some of the requests the following Monday morning. “We never know how many participants there will be and this time was no different,” said Criminal Division Assistant Manager Laura Ernst. “We were all pleasantly surprised to see how many came to the workshop.”

Clerk's Office Follows State Guidelines for Redaction of Court Documents As I mentioned in the above article regarding my eClerk, we did encounter a few challenges following the launch of the new website. One of those challenges was our customer’s uncertainty about what personal information is required to be redacted prior to court documents being made available publicly. We received numerous phone calls and emails from citizens rightly concerned that we may be placing personal information on the website that is private. We looked at this issue as an opportunity to share the guidelines we follow when redacting court records. Florida Statute 119.0714(2)(d) states that the custodian of records “must use his or her best efforts to redact all Social Security numbers and bank account, debit, charge, or credit card numbers from electronic copies of the official record.” As a point of process, court documents received by the Clerk’s Office are redacted using industry-leading software. This software identifies and redacts specific data fields contained in the court documents. Information deemed to be confidential includes Social Security, bank account and credit card numbers. Information that is not confidential includes driver’s license number, date of birth and home address. Know that the Clerk’s Office places the highest priority on the security of confidential information. NASA Captures "EPIC" Earth Image A NASA camera on the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) satellite has returned its first view of the entire sunlit side of Earth from one million miles away.

DSCOVR’s observations of Earth, as well as its measurements and early warnings of space weather events caused by the sun, will help every person to monitor the ever-changing Earth, and to understand how our planet fits into its neighborhood in the solar system.” These initial Earth images show the effects of sunlight scattered by air molecules, giving the images a characteristic bluish tint. The EPIC team now is working on a rendering of these images that emphasizes land features and removes this atmospheric effect. Once the instrument begins regular data acquisition, new images will be available every day, 12 to 36 hours after they are acquired by EPIC. These images will be posted to a dedicated web page by September. "The high quality of the EPIC images exceeded all of our expectations in resolution," said Adam Szabo, DSCOVR project scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. "The images clearly show desert sand structures, river systems and complex cloud patterns. There will be a huge wealth of new data for scientists to explore." The primary objective of DSCOVR, a partnership between NASA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the U.S. Air Force, is to maintain the nation’s real-time solar wind monitoring capabilities, which are critical to the accuracy and lead time of space weather alerts and forecasts from NOAA. “These new views of the Earth, a result of the great partnership between NOAA, the U.S. Air Force, and NASA, give us an important perspective of the true global nature of our spaceship Earth," said John Grunsfeld, associate administrator of the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington. The satellite was launched in February and recently reached its planned orbit at the first Lagrange point or L1, about one million miles from Earth toward the sun. It’s from that unique vantage point that the EPIC instrument is acquiring science quality images of the entire sunlit face of Earth. Data from EPIC will be used to measure ozone and aerosol levels in Earth’s atmosphere, cloud height, vegetation properties and the ultraviolet reflectivity of Earth. NASA will use this data for a number of Earth science applications, including dust and volcanic ash maps of the entire planet. In addition to space weather instruments, DSCOVR carries a second NASA sensor -- the National Institute of Science and Technology Advanced Radiometer (NISTAR). Data from the NASA science instruments will be processed at the agency’s DSCOVR Science Operations Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. This data will be archived and distributed by the Atmospheric Science Data Center at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. The Air Force provided the Space X Falcon 9 rocket for the mission. NOAA operates DSCOVR from its Satellite Operations Facility in Suitland, Maryland, and processes the space weather data at its Space Weather Prediction Center in Boulder, Colorado. NASA uses the vantage point of space to increase our understanding of our home planet, improve lives, and safeguard our future. NASA develops new ways to observe and study Earth's interconnected natural systems with long-term data records. The agency freely shares this unique knowledge and works with institutions around the world to gain new insights into how our planet is changing.
