Change Of Direction: The Name
The name ‘Going Going Gone’ focuses on the temporary nature of the exhibition and puts the onus onto the audience to get to the shows before they disappear. ‘W Gone’ is a phrase often used by baseball commentators when describing a home run, as the ball approaches and clears the outfield wall. It articulates the journey and build up towards the big achievement, which is much like the situation we are currently in with graduation rapidly approaching. It brings with it connotations of success and ambition, as does the emerging talent emanating from Leeds College of Art.
Faces
By including a photographic element and actively disguising and hiding peoples face, we create a sense of mystery and intrigue. It serves as a visual metaphor of the ‘temporary’ theme, whilst also enticing the audience into coming to the show and seeing it with their own eyes.
