Bike Path and Trails Maintenance Policy Mother Nature will be allowed to take her own course of action with respect to our park district bike paths and trails, located at Community Park, Ahlstrand Park, Harbor Park East-West, Nautilus Park and Ranger Park. In Illinois there is no legal duty to clear paths or trails. But if an agency voluntarily takes on the job, liability may be imposed if it is not done properly. The Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA) recommends that we limit path maintenance to a thorough season-ending inspection and documentation of irregularities, that we fix any hazards and that we post signs conveying the message that users of the paths and trails do so at their own risk.

Thank you to the Village of Hanover Park, Lions Club, and Hanover Park Park Foundation The staff and commissioners of the Hanover Park Park District take this opportunity to sincerely thank the Village of Hanover Park and the Hanover Park Lions Club for their generous financial donations that make participation in recreation programs possible for the children of families experiencing financial hardship. Working together, the Hanover Park Youth Activity Supplement Program of the Village of Hanover Park, the Lions Club, and the Hanover Park Park Foundation have assisted many families in Hanover Park provide activities such as karate, dance, soccer, basketball, gymnastics, swim lessons, aquatic facility passes, and summer camp for their children. Since 1998, more than 300 individual scholarships have been awarded totaling more than $40,000.00 Thank you, Lions Club and Village of Hanover Park. Through your dedication, cooperation, and generosity you have enriched the lives of many children by giving them the opportunity to participate in our Park District’s programs.

Welcome to the Hanover Park School of Dance, managed by the Hanover Park Park District. We are committed to providing an excellent dance education to students of all ages. Classes meet for a 25-week session culminating in a Spring Recital. Each dancer will receive a beautiful achievement award during the last week of class.

Preliminary Recital Information Pending confirmation from the venue, the Spring Recital will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011. Final times and details will be announced well in advance. All dancers who wish to be a part of the Spring Recital must be registered for and participating in classes that begin in the Fall. Picture Day, during which the dancers are professionally photographed in their costumes, will be held on the Sunday before the recital.

People Training for Dogs

Creative Card-Making

Don’t let your dog take you for a walk. Begin a program to make your dog your best friend again! Our “pawsitive” reinforcement and proven dog handling techniques will produce a well informed handler and dog. The first class is held without your dog. Dogs are required to be up to date on immunizations (rabies, parvo and distemper) and a negative stool sample checked two weeks prior to the first class and documented by your veterinarian. For more information visit www.r-solid.com.

Save bundles on greeting cards and exercise your creativity for three fun weeks beginning September 23 through October 7. You’ll also get a head start on the holidays with lots of seasonal ideas. Instructor Carolyn Rowe will guide you in the creation of 4-5 cards each week. Learn the basics: stamping, embossing, texturizing, and cut-outs, plus some unique methods of adding color using a brayer and acrylics. You’ll also make a set of personalized note cards, and explore die-cutting. All materials supplied.
