Cha-Am Preparing for King’s Birthday Celebration The Cha-Am Municipality is preparing a festive event for His Majesty the King’s birthday on 5 December 2012 In this year, His Majesty will reach 85 years old

he Cha-Am Mayor Mr. Nukul Pornsomboonsiri said that this event, divided into morning and evening sessions, would take place at Cha-Am Municipality. In the early morning at 7.30 a.m., local people and tourists will join a Buddhist ceremony o offering food to 109 monks, nuns and novices. Then, at 8.30 a.m., representatives from local communities of the city will receive some marine animals to release in natural water resources before a ceremony of honoring His Majesty at the meeting hall of the District Office of Cha-Am. Highlights of the evening session include a candle lit ceremony to give best wishes to this King at 6 p.m., an awarding ceremony for best fathers, stage
performances and singing of royal songs. From 8.30 p.m. to midnight, there will be a traditional Thai play or performed by the locally famous Wattana Anan group. The Cha-Am Mayor would like to invite both local people and tourists to attend the event to honor and express gratitude to the most beloved Thai monarch on the above mentioned date.

One of the effective factors to promote tourism in any places is photos because they can be viewed and understood by people of any ages. Moreover, due to modern on-line social networks, photos can be posted in many websites and people can easily access to those websites and see the photos by themselves. In order that professional and amateurs photographers can express their impression and beauty of Cha-Am in their pictures which the Cha-Am Municipality will later use them for tourism promotion in accordance to a policy on income earning from tourism proposed by the present government, a photo contest, ‘The Charm of Cha-Am’, is therefore organized.
