Cha-Am Preparing for King’s Birthday Celebration The Cha-Am Municipality is preparing a festive event for His Majesty the King’s birthday on 5 December 2012 In this year, His Majesty will reach 85 years old

he Cha-Am Mayor Mr. Nukul Pornsomboonsiri said that this event, divided into morning and evening sessions, would take place at Cha-Am Municipality. In the early morning at 7.30 a.m., local people and tourists will join a Buddhist ceremony o offering food to 109 monks, nuns and novices. Then, at 8.30 a.m., representatives from local communities of the city will receive some marine animals to release in natural water resources before a ceremony of honoring His Majesty at the meeting hall of the District Office of Cha-Am. Highlights of the evening session include a candle lit ceremony to give best wishes to this King at 6 p.m., an awarding ceremony for best fathers, stage
performances and singing of royal songs. From 8.30 p.m. to midnight, there will be a traditional Thai play or performed by the locally famous Wattana Anan group. The Cha-Am Mayor would like to invite both local people and tourists to attend the event to honor and express gratitude to the most beloved Thai monarch on the above mentioned date.

Responsible for supporting tourism in Cha-Am, the Cha-Am Municipality already planned 8 major events to take place here in the year to come. They are Cha-Am Countdown 2013, 3rd Pu Chak (Crab Pulling) Festival at Cha-Am, Cha-Am Bikini Beach Run, Songkran Festival, 15th Shell Eating, Bird Watching and Squid Catching, Speedboat Racing in ChaAm, Commemoration Day of Kromphra Narathip Praphanphong and Loy Krathong Festival, said Mr. Nukul, adding that there will be other festive activities in the city, such as Music on the Beach, Thai Children’s 3. One photographer can send any numbers of photos for the contest without paying for any registration fee; 3. Photos submitted for the contest must be taken by the owner him/ herself. Rights to receive an award will be deprived of for anyone who sends a photo taken by other people; 4. Photos submitted for the contest must not have won any award before. They should be taken from 2011 onwards; 5. Photos can be freely enhanced moderately in terms of lights and colors without any excessive addition, change or editing; 6. Photos should be copied in the tif or jpg formats in a CD and they should be printed out with the width of 12” but no more than 18” and each of them should be stuck to a black feature board with the name and surname of the owner below it; 7. Owners of the photos should mention their name, surname, address and telephone numbers at the back of the feature board; 8. Cha-Am Municipality reserves the right to publicize all the photos

The first, second and third prizes consist of certificates for each category and 30,000 Baht, 20,000 Baht and 10,000 Baht in cash respectively. The Cha-Am Municipality will inform the winner by the phone number given and will publicize the result in the website: www.cha-amcity.go.th and the Municipality’s Facebook Fanpage. All the photos submitted for the contest will be exhibited during the 15th She’ll Eating, Bird Watching and Squid Catching in Cha-Am from 14 to 22 September 2013.
