he Cha-Am Municipality will organize an event to commemorate Krom Phra Narathip Praphanphong on October 11-15, 2011 According to Mr. Nukul Pronsomboonsiri, the Cha-Am Mayor, the Municipality will join hands with the Cha-Am Municipal Council also concerned agencies to hold this event which may later become an annual occasion of the city. With an aim to honor Krom Phra Narathip Praphanphong, who pioneered city planning and modernizing in Cha-Am until it becomes a famous holiday getaway of Thailand, the event will start on October 11 – the date when Krom Phra Narathip Praphanphong passed away.

Also another Buddhist one at 10 am. As well as sessions may have many stage performances light and sound shows every evening.

The three-day morning session, taking place at the monument on the Narathip road, will allow people and visitors to worship and ask for blessings. The evening session highlights retro Thai folk dance by Od Four S. Should the event be successful, the organizer will think about holding it for one more day in the following year, Mr. Nukul said.

The great patron of Cha-Am whose contribution on urban modernization and city planning is invaluable to local people nowadays, Krom Phra Narathip Praphanphong is now a symbol of the city. The commemoration will take place for the first time this year and will continue every year as an annual event. Proceedings will serve as funding for renovation of his monument. Local people and visitors are welcome to attend the commemoration day of Krom Phra Narathip Praphanphong between the above-mentioned dates.

By Sorravit The One Card for Four Provinces will be given away to tourists for promoting tourism in 4 provinces of lower central Thailand in Petchaburi, Prachuab Khirikhan, Samut Songkhram and Samut Sakhorn.

Cardholders will get discounts from tourist sites, hotels, restaurants and souvenir shops in 4 provinces. The card is valid from June 15, 2011 to June 15, 2012.

he Senior Managing Director of Boonrawd Brewery Public Company Limited ( Mr. Santi Bhirombhakdi has recently offered 4 satellite phones to Mr. Chaiwat Limlikhitaksorn, the Chief of the Kaeng Krachan National Park.

Phones, worth 200,000 Baht, will be used for monitoring areas within the National Park.

Mr. Chaiwat said that the Kaeng Krachan National Park was often intruded by forest trespassers and illegal hunters. Although the authorities know their whereabouts, it is difficult to contact and coordinate with officers at the headquarters and each checkpoint in the park due to lack of high frequency phones. Thanks to the satellite phones offered by Boonrawd Brewery, authorities and officers will work more effectively and quickly on informing any wrongdoings at all areas inside the National Park.

The Chief of the Kaeng Krachan National Park added that he usually monitored the National Park’s area, using a helicopter to comb and check suspicious points. Common problems found include forest trespass along Thai border made by ethnic minority groups like Karen, Karan and Pakayo. Those who have lived there for quite some time will be allocated some areas to work according to His Majesty the King’s Principles of Self-Sufficiency; those who have just arrived, however, will be asked to move out as many of them are found doing illegal activities, particularly planting marijuana and possessing war weapons. If any incident is reported, the border patrol police will be informed to carry out further action.

More Plants to Make Cha-Am More Lively by ‘Fa Sai’ Over 220 members of the ‘Fa Sai’ environmental group have recently grown beautiful plants on Cha-Am beaches to make the city more beautiful and lively and raise awareness among local people and tourists on environmental conservation.

Taking place on 14 September at the southern part of Cha-Am beach, this activity, carried out as a part of the project, “Cha-Am: Lively City”, was presided over by the Cha-Am Mayor Mr. Nukul Pornsomboonsiri.

In this activity, small plants will be grown at the foot of pine trees along the beach, making the area more beautiful and attractive.

Following the report made by the Cha-Am Municipality Deputy and the activity leader Mr. Amnart Witthaya, the ‘Fa Sai Cha-Am Suai’ (literally, ‘Clear Sky in Beautiful ChaAm environmental group was formed by leaders of civil society groups, academics and governmental staff who have mobilized the development work for Cha-Am in a constant and sustainable way since 2006. Their knowledge and experience on social work is extended and obtained from participating in field trips, trainings and relevant activities.

Realizing that the Cha-Am beach is one of the most beautiful and most famous for Thai and foreign tourists, the ‘Fa Sai’ members has worked with owners of beachside camp beds in Cha-Am to launch this activity to raise awareness on environmental conservation and improve the area of the southern part of Cha-Am beach.Also promotes cooperation from good relations between local people and governmental officers and participation of all concerned agencies in terms of taking care of Cha-Am in a sustainable way.

The activity, funded by the ChaAm Municipal Health Insurance Funding Division, sees 220 participants from the ‘Fa Sai’ group, the local fisher group, the owners of beachside camp beds and the network on Cha-Am: Lively City project. The ChaAm Municipality is responsible for providing plants to grow.

Leaflets on environmental threat and how to protect the world from it are distributed by the Division of Health and Environmental Effect Assessment of the Department of Health. Logistic matters are under responsibility of the Niphon Resort Hotel, Saha Kham and Nong Jaeng communities.

The Cha-Am Mayor, very pleased to attend the activity, said that he appreciated dedication of ‘Fa Sai’ group and people who worked hard to make Cha-Am a lively city.

He added that taking care of the beach and retaining its charm will impress visitors so much that they will keep coming back. This will improve overall economic situation in the city as well. “This activity responds to the Cha-Am municipal policy that aims to internationalize the standard of the city’s tourist attractions under cooperation of several agencies concerned,” said the Mayor.

“Since sustainable development would be impossible without everybody working together. I’d like to thank in advance the owners of beachside camp beds and members of the Saha Kham and Nong Jaeng communities who will take care of all the plants in the future.”

มาชิกกลุม่ ฟ้าใสชะอ�ำสวยกว่า ๒๒๐ คน ร่วมแรงปลูกไม้ดอกไม้ ประดับดูดสารพิษชายหาด สร้างชะอ�ำให้เป็นเมืองน่าอยู่ ปลุก จิตส�ำนึกอนุรกั ษ์ธรรมชาติและสร้างความสวยงามชายหาดชะอ�ำ เมือ่ วันที่ ๑๔ กันยายน ๒๕๕๔ ทีผ่ า่ นมา ณ ชายหาดหาดชะอ�ำด้านใต้ ได้มี การจัดกิจกรรมปลูกไม้ดอกไม้ประดับดูดสารพิษ ตามโครงการชะอ�ำ เมืองน่าอยู่ ของเทศบาลเมืองชะอ�ำ โดยมีนายนุกลู พรสมบูรณ์ศริ ิ นายกเทศมนตรีเมืองชะอ�ำเป็นประธานเปิดกิจกรรม นายอ�ำนาจ วิทยา ปลัดเทศบาลเมืองชะอ�ำ ในฐานะประธานฝ่าย จัดงาน กล่าวว่า กิจกรรมครัง้ นีส้ บื เนือ่ งมาจากการทีเ่ ทศบาลเมืองชะอ�ำ ได้มีการจัดตั้งสภาชุมชนกลุ่มฟ้าใสชะอ�ำสวยจากการรวบตัวกันของ แกนน�ำภาคประชาชน ภาครัฐ และภาควิชาการ โดยมีจดุ มุง่ หมายเพือ่ เป็นพลังในการขับเคลือ่ นเมืองน่าอยู่ ชุมชนน่าอยู่ ของเทศบาลเมือง ชะอ�ำให้เกิดการพัฒนาอย่างต่อเนือ่ งและยัง่ ยืน มาตัง้ แต่ปี ๒๕๔๙ และ มีการต่อยอดสะสมองค์ความรูแ้ ละประสบการณ์ในการด�ำเนินงานโดย การฝึกอบรม ศึกษาดูงาน และท�ำกิจกรรมร่วมกันของสมาชิกสภา ชุมชนกลุม่ ฟ้าใสชะอ�ำสวยกันมาอย่างต่อเนือ่ งจนถึงปัจจุบนั ในครัง้ นี้ สภาชุมชนกลุม่ ฟ้าใสชะอ�ำสวยได้ตระหนักว่าเมืองชะอ�ำเป็นเมืองทีม่ ี ชายหาดเป็นแหล่งท่องเทีย่ วทีเ่ ป็นทีร่ จู้ กั ของนักท่องเทีย่ วทัง้ ชาวไทยและชาวต่างชาติ จึงได้รว่ มมือกับกลุม่ ผูป้ ระกอบการเตียงผ้าใบ ชายหาดจัดกิจกรรมครัง้ นีข้ นึ้ โดยมีวตั ถุประสงค์เพือ่ ให้สมาชิกสภาชุมชนกลุม่ ฟ้าใสชะอ�ำสวยและเครือข่ายเมืองน่าอยูไ่ ด้ทำ� กิจกรรมร่วม กันในการด�ำเนินงานเมืองน่าอยู่ ชุมชนน่าอยู่ และเกิดสัมพันธภาพทีด่ รี ะหว่างประชาชนและเครือข่ายภาครัฐ เป็นการส่งเสริมการมีสว่ นร่วม ของทุกภาคส่วนในการดูแลรักษาสิง่ แวดล้อมให้ชะอ�ำเป็นเมืองน่าอยูแ่ ละน่าเทีย่ วอย่างยัง่ ยืน เป็นการกระตุน้ และปลูกจิตส�ำนึกในการดูแล สุขภาพและสิง่ แวดล้อมของประชาชน และเพือ่ ปรับปรุงภูมทิ ศั น์บริเวณชายหาดชะอ�ำด้านใต้

การจัดกิจกรรมครัง้ นีม้ สี มาชิกสภาชุมชนกลุม่ ฟ้าใสชะอ�ำสวย กลุม่ ผูป้ ระกอบการเตียงผ้าใบชายหาด กลุม่ ประมง เครือข่าย เมืองน่าอยูแ่ ละเจ้าหน้าทีผ่ เู้ กีย่ วข้องกับการพัฒนาเมืองน่าอยู่ ชุมชนน่าอยูเ่ ทศบาลเมืองชะอ�ำเข้าร่วมกิจกรรมจ�ำนวน ๒๒๐ คน โดยได้รบั งบประมาณสนับสนุนจากกองทุนหลักประกันสุขภาพเทศบาลเมืองชะอ�ำต้นไม้สำ� หรับปลูกจากเทศบาลเมืองชะอ�ำและสมาชิกสภาชุมชน กลุม่ ฟ้าใสชะอ�ำสวย เอกสารแผ่นพับความรูจ้ ากกองประเมินผลกระทบต่อสุขภาพและสิง่ แวดล้อม กรมอนามัย และการอ�ำนวยความ สะดวกในด้านต่าง ๆ จากโรงแรมนิพนธ์รสี อร์ท ชุมชนสหคาม และชุมชนหนองแจง นายอ�ำนาจกล่าว

ทางด้านนายนุกลู พรสมบูรณ์ศริ ิ ในฐานะประธานเปิดงาน กล่าวว่า รูส้ กึ ยินดีและชืน่ ชมเป็นอย่างยิง่ ทีส่ มาชิกสภาชุมชนกลุม่ ฟ้า ใสชะอ�ำสวยทีเ่ กิดจากการรวมตัวกันของแกนน�ำกลุม่ ต่าง ๆ จากทุกชุมชนทุกภาคส่วนไม่วา่ จะเป็นกรรมการชุมชน อสม. ชมรมสร้างสุขภาพ ชมรมร้านอาหารและแผงลอย กลุม่ ผูป้ ระกอบการเตียงผ้าใบ กลุม่ ประมง รวมถึงครูจากโรงเรียนต่าง ๆ ได้มารวมพลังกันเพือ่ ร่วมท�ำ กิจกรรมอันเป็นประโยชน์ ซึง่ ส่งผลต่อการมีสภาพแวดล้อมและสุขภาพทีด่ ที งั้ ตนเองและส่วนรวม การดูและชายหาดชะอ�ำให้คงความน่า เทีย่ ว นักท่องเทีย่ วมาเทีย่ วแล้วเกิดความประทับใจกลับมาเทีย่ วอีก ย่อมท�ำให้เศรษฐกิจของชะอ�ำโดยรวมดีขนึ้ อย่างแน่นอน การทีท่ กุ ภาค ส่วนให้ความส�ำคัญและมีสว่ นร่วมในการท�ำกิจกรรมครัง้ นีน้ นั้ มีความสอดคล้องกับนโยบายของเทศบาลเมืองชะอ�ำทีต่ อ้ งการพัฒนาเพือ่ ยก ระดับแหล่งท่องเทีย่ วของชะอ�ำให้ได้มาตรฐาน สากล โดยใช้ยทุ ธศาสตร์การมีสว่ นร่วมของ หลายภาคส่วนทีเ่ ชือ่ มโยงและเกีย่ วข้องกัน การ ส่งเสริมความเข้มแข็งของทุกภาคส่วนเพื่อให้ เกิดการพัฒนาอย่างยัง่ ยืน นอกจากนีก้ จิ กรรม ครั้งนี้จะส�ำเร็จสมบูรณ์ไม่ได้หากขาดกลุ่มผู้ ประกอบการเตียงผ้าใบ ชุมชนสหคาม และ ชุมชนหนองแจง ทีจ่ ะคอยดูแล บ�ำรุงรักษา ซ่อมแซมต้นไม้ให้สวยงามและคงอยูต่ ลอดไป ดังนัน้ ต้องขอขอบคุณทุกภาคส่วนทีเ่ กีย่ วข้องที่ เสียสละเวลาอุทศิ ตนเพือ่ ส่วนรวม นายนุกลู กล่าว การจัดกิจกรรมครัง้ นี้ เป็นการปลูกไม้ ดอกไม้ประดับรอบโคนต้นสนซึ่งอยู่มากมาย ตลอดแนวชายหาดชะอ�ำ โดยหลังจากทุกฝ่าย ได้รว่ มกันปลูกจนเสร็จสิน้ ท�ำให้ชายหาดชะอ�ำ สวยงามน่าเทีย่ วยิง่ ขึน้

lock of Thais and foreigners are coming to Cha-Am for the 13th festival of shell eating, bird watching and squid fishing at the Cha-Am lookout between 24 September and 2 October.

Organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Petchaburi Office, the Cha-Am Municipality and the Boonrawd Brewery Public Company Limited’s the Marketing Division, this event aims to promote tourism in Cha-Am in low season. Well-known among tourists as it has taken place for 13 times already, it offers fun travel experiences and several unforgettable activities hardly found elsewhere in Thailand.

Mr. Chai Panichpornpan, the Petchaburi Governor, said that Petchaburi is one of the highest potential provinces in Thailand in terms of tourism thanks to its various natural resources, unique culture and interesting historical background. The province also boasts many royal initiative projects from which people can learn as well as complete accommodations and convenient location close to Bangkok. These make Petchaburi a precious gem of Thailand.

In terms of Cha-Am, a district of Petchaburi, it is an important tourist spot of the province and Thailand as a whole. Each year, over 4 million tourists visit the area, boosting local economy to the province a lot. Organizing tourism promotion activities like this festival is a good way to allow local people to earn more income, added Mr. Chai.

The Cha-Am Mayor Mr. Nukul Pornsomboonsiri, as an organizing chair of the festival, said that the Municipality of Cha-Am provided visitors with international quality on event organizing.

Throughout the event, the central stage will have performances of various artists. At the Cha-Am lookout, visitors can savor good food and drink.

Those who want to fish squid can do so at 7 p.m. every day on a fishing boat by paying only 100 Baht charge – the cheapest price for tourists.

Fishing boats will be moored beside the ChaAm lookout on the southern part.

Birdwatchers can take a free trip to Khao Nang Phanthurat hill and Thung Takad Phlee to see local and migrating birds. The trip, taking place twice daily – 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. – can be booked at a tent on the north of the Cha-Am lookout.

On 24 September – the first and the opening day of the festival, a fair of One-TambonOne-Product (OTOP) goods was launched together with boat racing from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Cha-Am Mayor said that he was confident that the festival would come out very well as it had been held for the 13th times already. Besides, organizers and sponsors for the event know how to prepare everything. So, all visitors will be happy and enjoy great experience there.

The Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Petchaburi Office Ms. Nongnit Tengmaneewan talked about the festival that the TAT, which has continuously supported it since the first time, would be pleased to coorganize the event again next year because a lot of visitors enjoyed it so much despite the low season. So, the TAT would like to invite tourists to come back to Cha-Am and attend the festival again next year.

Mr. Somchai Paerungrotthawee, the manager of the Boonrawd Brewery Public Company Limited’s the Marketing Division, said that the company was glad to be a co-organizer of the festival because it was a Thai company which supported and took pride of diverse Thai tradition and culture. Boonrawd has continuously sponsored this event as it symbolizes unique Thai lifestyle, especially the way of living in coastal Thailand.

Pom yaak chuai kao. = I want to help him.

Pom yaak poot gap poo-jat-gaan. = I want to speak to the manager.

Pom mai yaak thoo haa tur. = I don’t want to phone her.

Pom mai yaak duum maak. = I don’t want to drink a lot.

Pom mai yaak hai dtang kun. = I don’t want to give you money.

To ask other people if they would like to do a particular thing, simply add ‘mai?’ at the end of the statement.

Turn the above sentences to questions: Kun yaak gin pizza mai? = Do you want to eat a pizza?

Kun yaak bpai Phuket mai? = Do you want to go to Phuket?

vent at Siam Paragon An international event “food & hotel Thailand 2011” was held in Bangkok at Siam Paragon last month with numbers of international participants including The Hotel Cha Am. This is the first time that expects to attract another record number of local and international buyers. The event holds the unique status of being “Asia’s 5 Star Hospitality Event. There are many hospitality competitions such as bed making for housekeeping department, fruit carving and duck free style cooking for F&B and kitchen departments. For the fruit carving we have the concept of “Pranakorn Kiri” The architecture of King Rama 5 from Petchaburi Province.

And for the duck cooking we created using the salt brick as the plate with modern decoration. Even though the hotel cha-am team didn’t win the first prize, we got the recognization from three competitions which is the good thing for our associate to practice and improve our service to guests.
