wo music festivals commemorating the most famous British band of the 60’s The Beatles will take place in Petchaburi. “To Be Number One with The Beatles” and “The Beatles Fair 2013” will be held together between 9th and 10th April 2013 from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Damrongrak Road beside the Phra Ram Rachaniwet or Ban Peun Palace. According to a press conference at the Petchaburi Municipality attended by the Deputy Mayor of Petchaburi Gen. Yuth Angkinant, the owner of Khethat Music School Mr. Chainat Srisuro, the English lecturer at Petchaburi Rajabhat University Mr. Sansern Laohasathit and the Assistant to the Genera Manager of Yamaha Siam Music Co. Ltd. Mr. Pornthep Phumpruek, The Beatles is a widely known band whose legacy remains influential on mainstream music and music bands to the present day. Although their albums were released almost 50 years ago, music lovers nowadays still enjoy the music. That is why The Beatles was selected as a major theme for this Event.

In terms of the music copyrights, the organisers have already confirmed that there are no problems with legal issues. They would like to assure Beatles’ fans -- young and old -- not to worry and to join in the event. Highlights of this Event include “The Beatles Big Wall” which displays the history of the band in pictures, “The Beatles Exhibition” which describes the band’s accolades and legendary honours since 1962 There willalso be a forum of discussion with a real fan of The Beatles M.D. Kitiphum Juthasmith who will attend with his special collections This Event also allows members of ‘To Be Number One Group’, an anti-drug group under patronage of HRH Princess Ubolrat, to carry out creative activities including a music contest which encourages high school and university students to show their music ability and win a scholarship of over 50,000 Baht. Applications for the contest are open from 1st to 31st June 2013. Only 20 bands with excellent performances will be selected to perform on the Event day.
