Red Piano; Open and Ready to Surprise.
On one of the small roads opposite the Hilton it is the location of a very promising new restaurant, the ‘Red Piano”. Decorated in a modern Western style, there are three different venues in the same place. Outdoor by the street is where you can enjoy people walking by, inside for the warm days and a garden in the good for families with a small playground overlooking the open kitchen. A balcony used as a bar with high stools and a wall full of funny quotes around drinking. The Red Piano also has one of the very best bands performing at night. The music sets the mood for your evening. We started with a refreshing signature cocktail; a ‘Red Piano’; fresh, sweet and sour; great anytime. Our starter was a delicious ‘creamy pumpkin soup with crisps of coconut and garlic and fresh black pepper’. Full of taste and creaminess; I loved it. While we were waiting for our main courses, Mr. Rin gave us a delicious trilogy of different dips with fresh crunchy bread; ‘eggplant, pepper and cheese with dried tomato’. Great Mediterranean flavours. For main courses we had ‘salmon with asparagus and mashed potato’. It is presented looking like a picture that you don’t want to spoil. Crispy salmon skin and the fish cooked to perfection. I tried the dish of the day; ‘roasted lamb with Yorkshire pudding and red wine jus’. The lamb was tender and together with the pudding and the sauce it was like a Sunday roast. Amazing food cooked by a great British Chef who really impressed us. A big thanks to all the staff and special to Mr. Rin for a great evening. For more information: +66 92 971 0800, +66 32 900 510, reservation@redpianohuahin.com Pumkin soup (220 THB)

Utterly Sensational Food at Black Mountain Gourmet Restaurant, You’ve Got To Go! This gourmet Restaurant offers Mediterranean and international style with a hint of Asian fusion food created by Chef Luigi Sica. The place is luxurious and you are going to feel it straight away when you receive a cold sparkling wine in a crystal glass as a complimentary drink.
Lobster Bisque (995 THB)
By the time we were seated at the table the Manager of the restaurant Khun Oh brought us a complimentary assortment of homemade bread with whipped salted butter. Our excitement grew when the chef offered us a ‘foie gras terrine with pan brioche, crunchy almonds, walnuts and mixed berries’; which was amazing. When I visit places like this I always let the chef decide and it never disappoints me. We started with ‘wagyu beef carpaccio with celery salad gorgonzola cheese mousse’; very light and delicious. The dish that I heard from everyone is the best then arrived. It was ‘lobster soup with Canadian lobster meat infused with Hennessy cognac’ with a rich lobster taste from the broth and a lobster in the centre. The soup was creamy and colourful. To continue with as his Italian influence we tried ‘paccheri pasta with fresh tomatoes sauce and stracciatella cheese’, pasta were cooked al dente and the whole dish is taking you to Italy. For our main courses we had ‘poached fillet of salmon with citrus sauce crispy fennel and parsley boiled potatoes’ with he plate the salmon melting in your mouth. A great combination and an inventive dish. To continue we had the ‘wagyu beef tenderloin with blue cheese, potatoes mousseline, madeira truffle sauce”. A generous thick tenderloin wagyu beef exactly as it has to be; perfectly cooked as we requested with a scrumptious blue cheese sauce. The dessert was something special; created passion and the love of cooking; ‘cannolo stuffed with ricotta cheese, tomato jam and basil ice cream’. All these unusual savory flavours turned to sweet was surprisingly good. The basil ice cream was so creamy and refreshing; the whole combination came together great!
Chef Luigi Sica
The Chef wants to create innovative cuisine, rich in flavours and colours. The right mix to awaken all your senses. Everything in the kitchen is homemade; offering customers quality and freshness. The chef shared with us the passion and love for cooking and we really appreciated that. It might not be yet be a Michelin star Restaurant but if we could, we would give him one for the excellent dishes, service and utterly sensational food. Prime Steakhouse; the Real Steakhouse Experience.
This month we chose to try the Prime Steakhouse in its new location and we were amazed. The interior is beautiful done. Decorated like a modern loft with a secret terrace in the back. The staff are very friendly and make your order such an easy procedure. The menu has dishes you will not see anywhere else. We were recommended to try the ‘Avocado with Crab Salad’, fresh and light, then ‘Salmon Carpaccio with Smoked Salmon and Rocket Salad’. The last but not least starter was ‘Bruschetta with Cheese, Tomato and Capers’; strong tastes and all together a great Mediterranean dish. We tried the most popular main course and now I know why it is popular. It is ‘Tenderloin with Duchess Potatoes, Béarnaise Sauce and Bacon wrapped haricoverts’, presented on a wooden platter. The steak is cooked the way you want and you cannot stop eating the Duchess Potatoes which frame your plate. Delicious to see delicious to taste. Of course we have to mention for all of the wine lovers like us that in this restaurant the house wine is great and there is a good wine list for all preferences. Go to enjoy a real steakhouse experience. To avoid any disappointment please book , this restaurant is packed every day. For more information: 089-028-3547, 032 512-979 prime_restaurant@hotmail.com

Mediterranean Dining at ‘The Market’
Dining at the market does not only mean heading for one of those food stalls that can be found in markets big and small across Hua Hin. They are likely to serve ‘fast food’ Thai style, some excellent, some questionable, but a feature of eating out both locally and throughout Thailand. In this case we are talking about a very different dining experience; The Market Bar & Restaurant. The Market Village is the best known large shopping complex in Hua Hin. That’s where you’ll find this Mediterranean style all-day restaurant. There have been some changes to the already extensive menu lately and we were invited to check out the chef’s selection for a dining experience with the real ‘Market style’. This style is described as Italian but for me ‘Mediterranean’ gives a better idea of what’s on offer. Perhaps the compromise is to say Italian food with a greater Mediterranean influence. Thai food is also on the menu but not on our chef’s selection for this visit. Italians, like other Mediterranean cultures, know how to really enjoy the experience of eating. They relax out doors and socialise while dining for hours. At The Market it’s clear that the clientele prefer to sit outside to relax, especially when it’s a perfect balmy evening. The ‘piazza’ in front of the Market Village also provides something of a town square atmosphere with the sounds of live music wafting towards the restaurant. All together a very pleasant backdrop, far away enough away from the busy main road so that traffic noise is not an issue. Our selected menu was three-fold. ‘The Market Salad’; a mixed salad with Palma ham, melon, gorgonzola and raisins. ‘Pizza, The Market’; with cheese, tomato salsa, Palma ham, rocket and parmesan cheese. Then finally, ‘Sea bass, the Market’; with linguine, tomato salsa, balsamic cream, rocket and parmesan shavings. Apart from the name ‘The Market’ to signify it’s a house specialty, there were other themes that ran through these selections. Themes can link menu items rather than just random flavours, allowing the palate to move from one dish to another (and back!) without confusion. In this case tomato salsa, Palma ham and parmesan cheese provided that link. This was a light but very satisfying choice for two. Delicate flavours punctuated by stronger taste sensations. Gorgonzola added a ‘bite; from the blue veins and Palma ham, one of the world’s gourmet treats, adding a sweet, salty, moist and succulent flavour to fill the mouth with a complex and satisfying sensation. Nothing about these flavours in conflict. Sea bass as small fillets, moist and succulent, linguine (Italian – ‘little tongues’) was al dente and firm to the bite and a pizza base which was thin and slightly crisp. This was a meal to linger over, to enjoy with a chilled glass of impressive house dry white wine and take in the surrounds. The Market also has many specials to consider apart from the extensive menu. Sea bass is already a firm favourite with diners ordering it in droves! If you are ‘in the market’ for a very relaxing and flavorsome dining experience, The Market Restaurant & Bar should be on your favourite’s list. Where: The Market Restaurant and Bar; alongside the car park entrance just outside Market Village. When:
