The Summery New Flavours of Sheraton Pranburi Villas. The second dish we ordered was a simple but delicious dish of deep fried prawns wrapped in basil leaves and served with a sweet chili sauce. The basil was light and went well with the sweet and tender perfection that was the prawn. The dish screamed Thai food while not being as overwhelming in flavor; we all know how generous the Thais are with their spices. It was served in a frying wire basket with a banana leaf underneath that hinted that it really is the simple things that are the most wonderful. Hua Hin is rapidly becoming a favorite We next ordered the Duck with black truffle holiday destination for most travelers in sauce. The tender medium duck and the dark Thailand and it’s not hard to see why. With its truffle sauce were balanced out with bright beaches, fusion of tropical and vintage styles in architecture and design, friendly people, playful monkeys at Khao Takiab, vibrant night market scenes and the beautiful King’s summer palace, what’s not to like? The most striking feature of Hua Hin is its myriad array of food. From traditional spicy street food to luxury intercontinental dishes, you name it and Hua Hin has it.

The last dish we tried was the steamed sea bass with apple sauce and crispy vegetables. The golden sauce was made from apples and ginger and served with sautéed vegetables. Light, colorful and delicious, the sea bass was a pleasant way to end the dinner.

orange carrots and tiny yellow and purple flowers. The overall impression was that it was an earthy and warm dish that went well with the warm and intimate setting of the restaurant.

One such place that offers a unique and pleasant culinary experience would be Sheraton Pranburi Villas; most particularly the Sheraton Villa located some 7 kilometers south from the main town in Pranburi. My friend and I were greeted by a warm staff , warm lights and tropical palm trees. We ordered the Mango Moonlight and the Pranburi beach to start the dinner off. Refreshing, fruity and colorful, these are the perfect drinks for a relaxing day at the beach.

Overall, I felt like the dinner was themed after the vibrant summers of Hua Hin, with its numerous varieties of fresh fruits, colorful flowers, beaches and the fresh seafood. This is a menu definitely worth trying if you are looking a new culinary experience this summer in Hua Hin.

Eager and excited to taste Chef Chanawin Supsin’s food, we started off with a lobster appetizer which I could not describe to you as anything but summer on a plate. The lobster was tender taking center stage alongside crunchy and vibrant orange carrots, fresh green cucumbers and tiny purple and yellow flowers.

TOP THINGS TO DO IN NIGHT MARKET

You may have heard about the Night Market in Hua Hin and even passed by it many times thinking ‘it’s probably nothing special’. You couldn’t be more wrong. From fish spas, to barbequed lobsters, outdoor bars and its vibrant atmosphere, the Night Market offers a one of a kind experience filled with food, fun and energy. Here are some things to do in the Night Market that will help you experience and fully enjoy all it has to offer.

Get a T-Art Made

Ko Seafood

A lot of people love taking selfies or having portraits made of themselves, but the only fun way to do it is to get your portrait done on a T-shirt. In the Chatsila Market, you will find an artist surrounded by people watching him as he spray paints cartoon portraits on white t-shirts in no more than 10 minutes. A color portrait costs THB 399 and a black and white portrait costs THB 299. It is an interesting memento worth making and keeping to remember Hua Hin fondly in the future.

The Hua Hin night market is most well known for its large variety of fresh seafood, so fresh that you get to pick your choice of seafood and have it prepared right there for you. The BBQ Lobster with Garlic Sauce or the BBQ Lobster with butter is the most popular even though the lobster is not from Hua Hin itself. It costs THB 1800 for a 1 kg lobster and 900 THB for a half kg at Ko’s Seafood. Expensive but worth it especially since you’ll be in the amusing company of a server named Mr. Phad Thai (thai for fried noodles).

Mango Sticky Rice at Chatsila

Rotee

Fish Spa

One cannot leave the night market without having tried the Mango Sticky Rice. At the Chatsila Night Market, a mango sticky rice stall is located right next to the live singer and guitarist. A small helping will cost you only THB 40 or if you have an exceptionally sweet tooth the medium costs THB 60 and the large one is THB 80. It is a perfect sweet end to a wonderful night out.

The night market has a handful of Rotee (crepe) stands, but the one you want to visit is the one in the upper night market where you will meet Nui, the theatrical rotee maker who will entertain you with his enthusiastic and hilarious rotee making skills. The Rotee with egg and banana with chocolate syrup is THB 40 and definitely the one you should try.

Have you ever had a fish spa? If you haven’t then this is your chance. In the Chatsila market, you will find a number of fish tanks with bright lights and tiny fishes that nibble on your feet. It is a ticklish experience and definitely worth a try. Plus, fish spa boasts many health benefits and it comes at THB 100 for 15 minutes and THB 150 for a whole 30 minutes.

Hua Hin chestnuts

Hua Hin Souvenirs

In the upper night market, you will find a narrow little stall with a man roasting chestnuts. Delicious, warm and cheap, you can buy half a kg for 140 THB and 1 kg for THB 280.

Located in the upper night market, the Hua Hin Reminder is a wacky looking souvenir stand with everything from plastic severed arms, masks of well known personalities like George Bush, Osama, Saddam and many more. They also have rubber snakes, wind chimes and Hua Hin fridge magnets that would make cheap and useful gifts or souvenirs to take back home. The fridge magnets cost only THB 20 each. If not to buy anything, this shop is worth visiting just for a laugh.

Napat Massage

Mangosteen

What better way to relax than getting a nice foot massage after hours of walking the streets of Hua Hin? The Napat Massage outdoor parlour is located at the entrance of the Chatsila night market. There you will be greeted by women wearing bright orange t-shirts and warm welcoming smiles. They offer a relaxing foot massage for an affordable THB 99 for 30 minutes. You can even get a whole body massage for THB 170 for a full hour.

The Queen of Fruits, as dubbed by the Thais, the Mangosteen fruit is now in season. For anyone who hasn’t tried it yet, this would the best time. You will find mangosteens at the first fruit stall upon entering the night market called the Pranee Fruit Shop that sells a whole kilogram of mangosteen for THB 90. Of course you can find the fruit at every fruit stand costing around the price. You can also try other fresh fruits that are on sale as well.

Aliyu Tea Shop If you’re not much of a drinker, then you might want to try the Thai Tea at the Aliyu Tea Shop opposite the Retro Bar. Refreshing and not overwhelmingly sweet, the Thai Tea is perfect for a balmy night and sells for only

Crispy Mini Waffle This crunchy bite sized delight is a delicious snack filled with sweet cream and coconut shavings wrapped in a crispy mini crepe. It costs THB 10 for 10 pieces. You can find this stand at the entrance of the night market.

Ko Knockout Bar In the same restaurant, Ko SeaFood, you will also find a small bar, Ko Knockout Bar, where you can sit and absorb the energy of the night market while enjoying a beer or a cocktail. The best seller Sawasdee Hua Hin costs THB 120.

Decoration Lights

Pork Salad

In the upper night market area, you will find a shop adorned with bright fairy lights where they will sell you ball lights only for THB 250 and flower lights for THB 500. They are beautiful to look at and will make great decorations or presents to take back home.

In the Chatsila night market you will find a small food court where you can get delicious papaya salad with pork or beef salad. It is dish filled with flavor and it costs only THB 50.

Oysters, Beer and Sexy Dancers at Banyan Resort!

Oysters on ice, entertaining music from a DJ and sexy bikini dance shows all night; this is what we were promised this is exactly what we got. Chang beer free flowed all night helping the guests to relax and dance under the rhythm of the DJ together with the sexy dancers. The Oysters were on ice and rock salt in a long boat and the staff didn’t let it empty for a minute. The guests had a selection of different sauces to make their own combinations and enjoyed the fresh oysters the way they like it. Caramelised onions with lime was my preference of the night.

F9

A buffet with warm dishes on the side also gave us a big smile. Oysters gratin with mushrooms and cheese was mouth watering and it was hard to stop. Chef Romain didn’t let the guests to go before he changed their palette to something sweet. Mango tart was one of these; it was fresh, light and delicious and let us go with a sweet and summery feeling. The Banyan Resort team showed us once again their professionalism and Khun Bruce kept entertaining us with his great humor. For upcoming events call: 032-53-8888

The “MUST GO TO” Thai Seafood Buffet The Chay Had Sea Side Restaurant & Lounge - Hilton Hua Hin Resort & Spa

I only managed to sample a fraction of the dishes available which included: salt and pepper squid, crab cakes, grilled lemongrass prawns with tamarind glaze, BBQ duck spring rolls, beef salad with sunflower sprouts, soft shelled crab (wow!!!), caramelized bananas with vanilla bean icecream, Thai tea crème brulee, spiced coconut brownies with white chocolate icecream and mango sticky rice with coconut icecream. I know I was a glutton but I just could not help myself.

I have lived in and around the Hua Hin area for over 10 years. During this time I have had the opportunity to sample a variety of excellent Thai and international cuisine at many top class restaurants. However, whenever my family and friends come over to visit I can count on less than one hand the “MUST GO TO” places that I would highly recommend for a truly exceptional dining experience. Having just dined with my wife at the Friday evening Thai seafood buffet at the open air tranquil beach front Chay Had Restaurant at the Hilton Hua Hin, I have added this to my exclusive list of “MUST GO TO” dining venues. This is a dining extravaganza not to be missed under any circumstances during a visit to Hua Hin. I would not describe the Thai seafood buffet at the Chay Had as good or excellent that just does not do it justice. I would describe the buffet as sublimely delicious in a setting full of ambience. The range of appetisers, main dishes and desserts is staggering and all of the finest quality. It is impossible in this short review to comprehensively cover the full spectrum of what you can expect but believe me, I fail to see how anyone will not come away from this dining experience without a feeling of supreme happiness and contentment.

The Thai seafood buffet which opens from 7 to 10pm every Friday evening costs only THB 799 net (no ++). It’s a good idea to make a reservation as when we were there it was nearly full by 7:30pm. I hope that you keep this review a closely guarded secret and only let your family and closest friends know about this absolute gem of a dining experience. It goes without saying that the staff at Chay Had were brilliant. Thai Seafood Buffet THB 799.-net Every Friday Night from 7.00 pm. – 10 pm. At Chay Had Restaurant Hilton Hua Hin Resort & Spa .
