No sorry there are companies…. A friend of mine lost about 300.000 € because he trusted an international, triple A bank in the Netherlands. The money disappeared in Island and he will now need to grow bananas to make a living. Soon we will have a tablet pad for the Volk. The Volkspad ( Scopad) from China will sell under 6.000 Baht and will have Google´s Android and many Apps on board.

The intercontinental presented a Piano & Violin concert with Mathias Bögner a world famous violin player playing the Violin and

Viola and Khun Aree, a musical wonder from Bangkok performing on the piano. It was a great concert with pieces from Schubert. We need more of this in Hua Hin.

Anyway, about 5000 years ago, Moses said to the Children of Israel, “Pick up your shovel, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the promised land.” . I am so depressed that last night I called the Samaritans, who diverted my call to a call centre in Pakistan. When I told them I was suicidal they got all excited and asked if I could drive a truck!

HOW MUCH LAND DOES A MAN NEED?

he ambitious peasant Pakhom, who, after gaining ever greater plots of land, finally heard of a wonderful deal in a far-off country, He travelled to the land of the Bashkirs and negotiated with the village elder, who seemed a fool. The elder told Pakhom that he could have all the land he wanted for a thousand rubles a day.

Pakhom did not understand. “What kind of rate is that - a day?” he asked. “How many acres could that be?” “We don’t reckon your way. We sell by the day. However much you can walk around in one day will be yours.”When Pakhon expressed that a man can walk around much land in one day, the elder burst out laughing. “And all of it will be yours!” he replied. But there was one condition: If Pakhom didn’t return to the starting point by

forfeited.Ecstatic, Pakhom spent a sleepless night. Rising at dawn, he went with the villagers to the top of a hill where the elder put down his hat. After placing his thousand rubles on top, Pakhom began walking, digging holes along the way to mark his land. The going was easy and he thought, “I’ll do another three miles and then turn left. The land’s so beautiful here, it would be a pity to miss any.”Pakhom hurried throughout the morning, going out of his way to add more land.

But at noon when he looked back at the hill where he had began, it was difficult to see the people.

Maybe I have gone too far, he worried, and decided he must begin to make shorter sides. As

the afternoon wore on, the heat was exhausting.

By now his bare feet were cut and bruished, and his legs weakened. He wanted to rest, but it was out of question. Pakhom struggled on, walking faster, then running. He worried that he had been too greedy and his fear made him breathless. On he ran, his shirt soaked and his throat parched.

His lungs were working like a blacksmith’s bellows, his heart beat like a hammer. He was terrified. All these strain will be the death of me.

Although Pakhom feared death, he couldn’t stop.

They’d call me an idiot, he thought. When he was close enough to hear the Bashkirs cheering, he summoned his last ounce of strength and

kept running. As he finally reached the hill, everything suddenly became dark—the sun had set. Pakhom groaned. He wanted to stop, but heard the Bashkirs still cheering him on. He realized that from where he was at the bottom of the hill, the sun had set - but not for those on top.

Pakhom took a deep breath and rushed up the hill.

Reaching the top, he saw the elder sitting by the hat, laughing his head off. Pakhom’s legs gave way, and he fell forward grasping the cap. “Oh well done,” exclaimed the elder. “That’s a lot of land you’ve earned yourself!” Pakhom’s worker ran up and tried to lift his master, but Pakhom was dead. The worker picked up Pakhom’s spade, dug a grave, and buried him - six feet from head to heel, exactly the amount of land a man needs.

Rabies Prevention and Birth Control Campaign for Dogs & Cats

he Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will cooperate with the Hua Hin Municipality, related governmental agencies and civil society to formulate an urban development plan to improve Hua Hin’s physical conditional and deal with the city’s growth.

T

he Veterinary Service Work of the Hua Hin Municipality’s Public Health and Environment Division is launching a campaign on vaccination to prevent rabies and launch birth control for dogs and cats from March 5-12, 2012.

Taking place throughout the Hua Hin municipal area, the activity aims to raise awareness of local people and protect pet dogs and cats from rabies, one of the major contagious diseases in Thailand during hot weather. Every year, rabies bitten victims claim over 5,500 lives all over the world.

Although Thai government and relevant agencies work collaboratively and continuously to control it, many people are killed mainly due to inadequate vaccinations that only cover 80% of all pet dogs and cats. In addition, the number of stray dogs and cats increase all the time whilst most people lack proper understanding on rabies prevention.

These are some of the reasons why rabies prevention is not easy.

Khun Suwat , the owner had only quality in mind when he planned this gorgeous Hotel. “Only the best” he once told me. The best was displayed on Sunday.

The brunch officially starts at 12:00 and carries on until 15:00. The brunch is spread over three areas of which the outside one caught my immediate attention. An Oyster display with gourmet accessories and dips.

The Wagyu Rib-eye Roast was mouthwatering and it was just what I was looking for and did not find elsewhere so easy. I remember Prime of Ribs in the USA, pink, perfectly cooked and soft like silk. This roast was extremely close to the very

best. Maybe it was the very best. Sure José, the very best.

Wine can be served with the brunch but it will force an afternoon Siesta on you as there is an endless flow available. Among the dishes smartly displayed, you will find Foie Gras, numerous varieties of Seafood and salads. Sparkling Champagne from Duval Leroy and house wines such as Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc and a Cabernet – Shiraz from Majella match the dishes.

The Brunch is priced at Baht 1,699 with an additional free flow of Champagne and Wines for an extra Baht 999.

Water Should Be Used Wisely or Shortage will persist

eople in Hua Hin were advised to use water wisely to prevent water shortage during the upcoming summer.

According to the Mayor of Hua Hin Mr. Jira Pongpaiboon, although the city is quickly developing with increasing number of residents, it lacks big dams or a reservoir that could contain a large amount of water. Presently, the city relies on water supply from the Pranburi and Phetchaburi dams for daily use. Consequently, using water wisely is crucial during the upcoming hot season which is predicted to last longer than the years before.

The Hua Hin Municipal Waterworks Authority has lately checked the amount of water supplied

from Pranburi and found that the water to be used as tap water dropped drastically. So, not only local people but also business owners in Hua Hin should use water wisely. If possible, it is recommended that they stock water for emergency use at home.

The Waterworks Authority also warned people to keep an eye on the water meter at home because many of them have been stolen recently and sold at the black market. Any unusual incidents or observation should be immediately reported to the Hua Hin Municipal Waterworks Authority at tel. 032 511 667 or 032 511 677.

he property firm Jones Lang LaSalle Thailand is confident a property bubble remains impossible despite the oversupply of condominiums.

The managing director of Jones Lang LaSalle, Suphin Mechuchep, talked about the strength of the Thai property market at an Investment Expo in Bangkok.

“The Thai property market is active, particularly condominiums in inner Bangkok, despite domestic political problems and sluggish Western economies. Thai property prices are one-tenth those in Hong Kong and Singapore, while the Thai economy remains strong and people have

cash on hand. Property purchases are a way to compete with inflation, especially if it’s an investment for rent” she said.

Popular locations in the city for property investment include Narathiwat, Charoen Kung, Chan roads and Sukhumvit Road from soi 1 to 63.

The opening of CentralPlaza Grand Rama 9 and development of a new SET building on Rama IX Road makes that area ripe for more condominium growth according to the Bangkok Post.

The floods in Bangkok last year affected the property market the same way the 2004 tsunami affected prices on Phuket, but prices on Phuket are now double what they were before the tsunami.

roperty firms in Bangkok are moving ahead with the development of new condominiums before the limitations of the new city plan come into effect on May 15, 2013.

The new city plan states that high-rise construction with utilisation space of more than 10,000 square metres in a middle-density population area, in the central business districts will have to be located on a main road that is wider than 16 metres. One solar-powered high-altitude longendurance (Hale) craft under development is called Zephyr. The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), built by UK defence firm Qinetiq, has shown that it can stay aloft for more than two weeks, a valuable asset for the armed forces.

“You have a machine with solar cells and a battery that can fly, at high or low altitudes, over a troubled area and send back data as a substitute for a satellite,” says van der Linden.

s fuel costs spiral, powering aircraft with sunlight might seem like an attractive option. But is a solar powered plane feasible?

An experimental plane powered by solar cells successfully completes a 26-hour flight and lands safely in Switzerland.

It is easy to see the appeal of a solar-powered aircraft. Next time you are aboard a plane, try to get a window seat. As you taxi out for takeoff, look at the amount of light hitting the plane’s wings. In perfect flying conditions, the polished metal surface will brilliantly reflect the sun.

Then, as you are pushed back into your seat when the aircraft accelerates along the runway, perhaps the sun will catch a wing edge, suddenly illuminating the cabin.

Once the aircraft climbs through the clouds, the seatbelt sign pings off and the light can rapidly become piercing. The wings and fuselage are often bathed in constant sunlight at these higher altitudes during the daytime, prompting passengers to shield their eyes and pull down their window blinds.

In these kinds of conditions, flying by the sun could seem a relatively easy proposition – cover the plane in solar panels and you will have an aircraft that taps this free, limitless and clean energy source that abounds at altitude.

But then think about other flights you have taken. Foul weather or low cloud can cut out almost all sunlight. A winter sun can mean that the light barely glances off the plane as it soars into the sky. A night flight in the wrong direction can end up never seeing sunlight at all. These kinds of considerations give some insight into the massive hurdles that designers of solar-powered aircraft face. But that has not stopped people trying.

“The promise is almost unlimited duration – as long as the sun is out they can fly,” says Bob van der Linden, the curator of special purpose aircraft at the Smithsonian National Air and Space museum in Washington DC. For example, his collection contains Pathfinder Plus, an unmanned aircraft which set an altitude record of over 80,000ft back in 1998.

“It’s a bizarre-looking thing with a really, really long wingspan and very short length. If you look at it in flight, the wings are extremely flexible, and under load the wing takes the shape of a U with 8 motors on it,” says van der Linden.

As a foreigner here in Thailand I think you will be familiar with being charged hourly for any litigation or anything to do with a court case. In my time I have seen many foreigners come to set up the law firm here which though legal, they do not employ anyone to work as the lawyer in their company as they always use freelance lawyers.

Usually the founder or owners who are normally foreigners themselves will charge you hourly for consulting on your case and when they bring in a lawyer they will add the charge for the lawyer on top of their charge. This seems to be normal procedure of work in this kind of company with charges being collected monthly until the litigation is finished, by working this way it is easy for some clients to spend up to two or three million baht in fees.

From our experience when they try to charge a client in the way mentioned before, the client will not be willing to pay and finally a case against the client for unpaid lawyer fees will be submitted

in court. But the question you must consider if he is a lawyer or not? If he is not then he cannot charge you for any lawyer fees but must charge you for a consulting fee instead. Though this is not the main point as the fees that are owed are not entirely legitimate, clients have been known to be charged hours for when the owner and the freelance lawyer have discussed or worked on the case even if the client is not present, being charged multiple times for doing duplicate work which only needs to be done once, charging a client outside of working time such as including a commute to and from a clients residence from office or court and also charging for having a lawyer and/or owner sit in on a court date though they do not perform any kind of service.

All of the above charges are not allowed by the court but it does not necessary stop people from charging you for them in the first place. You have to be careful if you want to deal with a law firm like that, always be sure that they will not charge you an unreasonable price for any services that they provide. If you look at your options and say you try a Thai law firm they will most likely charge you on a lump sum basis, allowing you to negotiate the price for the entire case start to finish. I find that this way is best even if they charge you a little bit more for an interpreter or some consulting from a third party as it is a safer bet and could save you a lot in the long run.

If you find yourself stuck in a situation where you are charged exorbitant amounts always be sure to object to the invoice given to you as it will make your case in court easier, try to find the normal price for the fees asked of you so that you know you are being charged fairly. Academics at Charles Sturt University are studying how children interact with other infants while in childcare using footage obtained from tiny cameras strapped to their heads.

The study affords a “baby’s eye view” of the world in which even simple objects such as spoons appear oversized, said Jennifer Sumsion, foundation professor of early childhood at the university.

But it also shows that children aged from six months to 18 months use sophisticated but subtle non-verbal means to make friends and make each other laugh. “We were very, very surprised to see just how sophisticated they were in terms of their social skills, their helping skills, in making sure they were inviting other children to be part of their group,” Sumsion told AFP. Sumsion said babies interacted with each other by making eye contact and with hand gestures and humour.

They used “little social games that you wouldn’t necessarily see unless you were looking very closely”, she said.

Examples of this included children pretending to hand another child a toy, only to snatch it away at the last minute, or babies sitting close to each other in highchairs playfully switching their drink bottles around.

In another instance caught on camera, a oneyear-old girl tried to comfort a baby when she was frightened by gently placing a piece of see-through fabric over her so she could see out but feel protected.

The researchers, who analysed the baby-cam footage alongside other video shot of the children at the same time, did not force the babies to wear the cameras and they were only attached for 10 to 15 minutes at a time.

They hope the research will shed light on the secret world of babies and their experience in childcare. “What surprised us though were the games that they were playing with each other, even at that age. It’s really very positive to see,” Sumsion said.

Approximately 120 children with disabilities from schools in Bangkok and Lopburi spent the day being entertained and entertaining as well. The fun included games, prizes, food, and swimming in the sea. Some guests at the resort also joined in the fun.

IELTS markers are regularly monitored and tested every two years to retain their certification. There are a number of variables affecting the length of time over which an IELTS score remains valid. As a general rule it is recommended that a Test Report Form (TRF), that is more than two years old should only be accepted as evidence of present level of ability if accompanied by proof that a candidate has actively maintained or tried to improve their English language proficiency. IELTS is offered as 2 types of tests. One, General Test that is required to be taken by applicants who wish to seek permanent residence or employment in countries like Australia. Two, the Academic Test, to be taken by students who wish to Study Abroad.

Test Fees: Fees for IELTS Academic Test is Rs. 7,200/-, payable at The British Council or Rs. 7,400/- if payable with credit card at IDP Education Australia offices throughout the country. For additional score reporting, students have to pay Rs. 1,000/- per university, if the report has been sent by courier. IELTS Score: The minimum score accepted for a course ranges from 5.0 to 7.5, depending upon courses and institutes you are applying to. The most common requirement is a band score of 6 to 6.5. Our minds grew wild, Movie stars, Directors, Film legends, Screen monuments, unforgettable moments of awards celebrations and ceremonies.

A fantastic ambience was felt at the beach side of the Intercontinental Resort as a red carpet was spread that led to a stage which could embrace at least 200 persons….. sorry….. Stars. The bright red carpet presented Movie stars from Thailand, India, Korea, China and other international celebrities that gave presence to this international event. A big moment, a great premiere awaited us all in Hua Hin. Needless to comment on the dress –up of our VIP´s. The colourful dresses , décolleté´s , hip swinging beauties of the white screen hushed us up as we stared in pure astonishment destruction, we could believe. Fearful hairdo´s with porcupine styles and loads, loads of gel , black shoe polish and other and admiration. additives sculptured appearances and definitely set male hair fashion trends. Are we creating a future “Robot-look?”, walking around with his iPod or Galaxy, you name it, plugged ears with phones on roller-skates. Where has our romance gone? Mind you please, these were only observations.

At the opening, the organizer and owner of the Intercontinental Resort and Centenial Park, Khun Suwat made his introductory speech. He emphasized that with all the international glamour, we also focus on the growing Thai film industry and the strategic position of Hua Hin as an international top tourist destination as we create a great possibility for our Thai upcoming stars and Thai film industry to to establish themselves internationally.

Non Immigrant Visa

Retirement Visa

ruly in the middle of Hua Hin town, at the beginning of Naresdamri road you can find a true Mexican Restaurant with authentic food and drinks as if you were in Guadalajara or Acapulco.

As you enter, a camarera welcomes you and offer you a hat, just in case you want to wear one. What is a Mexican without his sombrero and moustache? But he is less without his Margarita and Burritos.

The owner, Senor Anders, also known for Prime and Black Out created this fun filled

place for easy dining with a fun factor. My first question went out towards the Margaritas…. precisely, Frozen Margaritas of which I chose a Strawberry Margarita, frozen, pure and brilliant!

It is dangerous just to dwell on Margaritas of any kind so we ordered some snacks. Chili Relleno are filled jalapenos with cream cheese stuffing, diced jalapenos and topped with sour cream. A snack delight.

After the second Margarita our urge for wine disappeared and we decided to lean on our frozen delight.

Red or white wines are offered from Spain, Chili and California by the bottle but a Cabernet Sauvignon or a Blanc Chili or Argentine Sangiovese is also offered by the Glass.

After the Chili Rellenos we opted for some Nachos with Guacamole (Chips with Avocado Mash) and Sunrise Chicken salad with Marinated Grilled Chicken, Iceberg salad, Coriander etc, served in a Tortilla Basket.

Fresh and lovely marinated we now had a base to build upon further.

Anders suggested the Australian Beef Tenderloin on a sizzling plate with Fajitas to roll the tender beef and vegetables in.

The menue has so many Mexican variations that Mex offers a choice of 3 set menues to make your choice easy. However, stick with the frozen Margarita and make sure you have a ride home as you will be speaking Spanish automatically as you emerge into tropical Hua Hin. Oh. Dint forgets to order the Home Made Tequila Ice cream. I will go back just for that one. Tacos, Enchiladas, Buritos, Quesadillas, you name it, it is there.

The food is delicious and plentiful, service friendly and prompt. Prices are very reasonable taking into consideration the location and the fun filled evening. South American background music crowns the evening. A great place to go and eat tasty food in a fun filled great atmosphere.

Tourism insights condo demand

ccording to Knight Frank Thailand’s associate director of research and valuation, Risinee Sarikaputra, that an influx of Bangkokians have temporarily moved to resort cities such as Rayong, Hua Hin, and Pattaya as a result of the floods that penetrated the city and its surroundings suburbs in the third and fourth quarters of 2011. Thus, the high demand for condos in

these resort locations are reflected in the lacking demand in Bangkok.

As a result, developers are seeking different investment paths and have diversified their strategic plans of building by building out of Bangkok in order to avoid the already over supplied market. Thus, the demand for condos in the capital city has become so slow.

While research clearly indicates a 65 per cent decrease in 2010 in that the total take-up of units was on 20,560. This stagnation can be blamed on an excess supply in condos on the market, which can be depicted from the carry over from 2010 to the first half of 2011.

The Knight Frank research shows that the majority of condo supply is in the peripheral Bangkok area that amounts for 65 per cent of the new market in 2011.

My Therapist , knew me from another Spa and remembered my little ailments and back problems so she took special care in treating my back. The spa manager Khun Tor was another ole acquaintance and together we decided to limit the treatments to the candle wax which was administrated carefully to my entire body with exception of the area covered by the incredible Spa panties.

After carefully, again, removing the candle wax with whatever it took with it from my ores, a mystic cloud of gold dust was spread over me , making my kilo price hit the ceiling. I wasn´t going to tell my wife about this as I may fear that she would register me on Ebay . Anyway a great treatment . he Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Phetchaburi Office and other involved organizations are now preparing for the 26th Khao Wang Annual Festival between 28 March and 6 April 2012.

According to the Phetchaburi Governor Mr. Winai Buapradit, this event is one of the biggest and most important yearly festivities of Phetchaburi. This year, its concept is to celebrate the 84th birthday of His Majesty the King whilst honouring the previous monarchs of Chakri Dynasty, in particular King Rama IV, King Chulalongkorn and King Mongkut.

A provincial event, the Khao Wang Annual Festival aims to cherish and promote local tradition and culture as well as boost tourism in and around Phetchaburi.

Highlights of the event include decoration and display of over 1 million neon lights throughout Khao Wang and fireworks in the evening. Visitors will also enjoy beautiful and blossoming Frangipani trees planted around

Hosted by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Phetchaburi Provincial Office, the Air Support Division to the Naresuan Border Patrol Police Headquarters, the Rama VI Military Base, the Sports Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage and the Kite Flyer Association of Thailand, this event aims to preserve and foster traditional Thai art and culture, promote local culture among foreigners and encourage more Thai visitors to travel to Cha-Am in March.

flying with background music, a contest of creative kites, an evening show of kite flying, a workshop on hand-making kites and a kite market. Additional activities are Kite Clean Sea, a show of energy saving toys and a rally to promote tourist sites in Cha-Am. The event also encourages students to take part in a contest in which kites are used to decorate and beautify a garden.

One of the “Travel throughout Thailand every Month” projects launched by TAT, the 12th Kite Fair will help boost more income to local people in and next to the event area.

World Runners to Join Singha Bikini Beach Run 2012

Runners from around the world will be coming to Cha-Am for the upcoming 4th Singha Bikini Beach Run 2012.

With its overwhelming success in the previous year, the 4th Singha Bikini Beach Run, organized by the Cha-Am Municipality with cooperation of the Phetchaburi Tourism Business Promotion Association and the Singha Corporation, will take place on the 18th of March.

Aiming to promote tourism in Cha-Am and its neighboring areas and introduce a new kind of exercise that suits well with this beachfront city, the event encourages participants to do running on the road and on the beach together.

In so doing, it will become a famous and traditional activity of the city eventually.

The 4th Singha Bikini Beach Run, starting at 6 a.m. in front of the Long Beach Cha-Am, will consist of 4 and 9 kilometer bikini and sportswear runs.

The past events saw many world-class runners from Kenya, Japan, Australia and the Scandinavian countries joining with the main aim to win the award and enjoy beautiful Thai beaches. The upcoming one is likewise sure to welcome more participants thanks to unique characteristics, convenient location and various accommodations in Cha-Am.
