Wow!! Hua Hin now has one of the most important monuments in Thailand with Ratchapakdi Park now showing seven of the most impressive statues of seven of the great previous Kings of Thailand. As word spreads we feel sure that this will become a ‘must visit’ destination for all travellers to the country and of great benefit to the local tourism industry. If you’ve yet to visit Ratchapakdi Park, make the short trip soon so that you can let our visitors know what it’s all about. Another way Hua Hin is becoming more sophisticated and international is its arrival on the fashion scene. Hua Hin Today is joining force with LME, Accademia Italiana and F Fashion heading to town to be a part of this transformation. Hua Hin is about to become a focus of fashion in Thailand. No need to head for the ‘Big Mango’ to see the latest trends and designs, they will all be here! Stay tuned for our reports on fashion around town to see the latest. On the same theme of an international approach, education in Hua Hin has also taken a big step forward with the opening of the Hua Hin International School. Parents in Hua Hin no longer need to be concerned that their kids are not receiving an international standard of education. What’s now on offer is a curriculum that’s of world-class but also an environment that’s welcoming, wholesome and will ensure that pupils are equipped for the future in the best possible way. As well as Hua Hin’s world renowned beaches and a ocean frontage lifestyle Mahasamutr is rapidly approaching completion with the huge ‘crystal lagoon’ now full of water and the country club lifestyle will soon be available. 4 Buddhist Meditation in Hua Hin Is Buddhism a religion or a philosophy? What is enlightenment? What is merit? Can women become monastics? What is the purpose of spirit houses? To visit Thailand is to experience Thai Buddhism - for the culture and religion cannot be separated. Thais have followed and supported the Buddha’s teachings for more than a thousand years. What often follows is an appreciation of the Buddhist lifestyle and an interest in the practice of meditation. Many Thai people, men and women, at some stage of their life choose to spend time at a Buddhist Temple to be immersed in the practices and teachings of Buddhism; meditation then provides the vehicle for this experience. Thais may also welcome foreigners to come to a temple and practice the Buddha’s teachings. The extremely supportive environment of a good Thai wat or meditation centre provides inspiration and the opportunity for spiritual development. Residents of most Wats begin the day early, typically 3-4 a.m. in forest monasteries and 5 a.m. in towns, with meditation and chanting. Meditation centres expect early rising too, with sleep limited to 4 to 6 hours. Monks and novices go on pindabat (alms round) at daybreak, then eat once or twice in the morning, depending on the custom of

the Wat. Most Wats have another period of meditation and chanting in late afternoon or evening. The rest of the day is used for meditation, work projects, and personal needs. At some intensive meditation centres you will be encouraged to practice 20 hours a day.

So how can you learn more and be introduced to Buddhist Meditation in Hua Hin? Wat Khao Santi, Khao Takiab may have the answers. One starting point may be to join a short course offered at this Wat; an “Introduction to Buddhism and to Buddhist Meditation.” This is offered for 10 days, once a week (Wednesdays), approx. 3.25 hrs each day, from 8:30 – 11:45 at Wat Khao Santi, Khao Takiab, Hua Hin. The next regular course will start in October 2015 with the exact date to be announced by mid-September 2015. Additionally a group of people interested in meditation meets year-round, once a week on Wednesdays, from 09:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Wat Khao Santi for meditation and discussion. Anybody interested in calming and developing their mind is welcome to participate. A short text regarding Buddhism or meditation is read at the beginning of each meeting. The reading is followed by formal sitting and walking meditation practice. A discussion or sharing about Buddhism, meditation, difficulties with the practice, etc. may end the session. The abbot or a senior monk is available for a question and answer session at the end of each day. Their answers and talks is translated from Thai into English. All other discourses and explanations are also given in English.

Those who are attracted to take this path often ask how they may commence this journey. It’s not just a matter of turning up at the local temple which is unlikely to offer the necessary guidance or haven being sought without a proper introduction and the language barriers may be overwhelming.

7 Ratchapakdi Bike Event and Concert A big fundraising event in Hua Hin The Ratchapakdi Bike Event and Concert, is taking place on Saturday, 12th September 2015. The Event is initiated by Princess Bajrakitiyabha who would like to raise fund for completing the Ratchapakdi Royal Park. This is an important allowing participants to express love and gratitude for Thai monarchs.

The event includes 4 activities as follows: 1. Fund-raising bike event, led by the Princess and guests of honour, starting from Cha-Am Forest Park to Klai Kangwon Royal Palace and Ratchapakdi Royal Park. The route covers 33.8 kilometres. 2. A Bike competition, which covers 92.9 kilometres, starting from the Royal Army Base 15 to Huay Mongkol Buddhist

Hua Hin Ranked as the 2015 Best City To Retire Overseas in Asia Hua Hin has been listed as the best city in Asia to retire overseas, followed by Chiang Mai. The two cities were rated seventh and eighth respectively in the rankings of the world’s 21 best cities to retire overseas in 2015 by ‘Live and Invest Overseas’. No other Thailand cities were included in the rankings.

The concept of moving abroad in retirement is usually associated with adventure, good food and the freedom to explore other parts of the world. But the main factor that motivates people to actually spend their later years abroad is often affordability, says Kathleen Peddicord, publisher of Live and Invest Overseas. “Our 2015 index rates the top destinations around the world that are each special for their own reasons. Not everyone wants to retire to the beach. Some want the amenities offered in big cities, while others want the tranquility of a mountain retreat.”

TAT Invites Tourists to Join Cross-Country Bike Ride

The index is decided by looking at a dozen factors, including each place’s climate, cost of living, expat community, safety and taxes. Number One on the list for the second successive year was Algarve in Portugal. The coastal region is the top pick due to the low cost of living and real estate. Algarve also has a robust expat community, beautiful weather and affordable, quality health care. Second on the list was Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, which is a well-known resort town. There are top-notch hospitals and an airport with many direct flights. Next on the list were Cayo in Belize, Languedoc in France, Abruzzo in Italy, Medellin of Colombia followed by Hua Hin and Chiang Mai.

‘Live and Invest Overseas’ is a leading online resource for people looking to move abroad have just released their annual index of the 21 best places for retirement overseas in 2015. The Report has been included in online information US publications the Washington Post, the Huffington Post as well as the Thai PBS.

Hua Hin is described as a coastal town full of resorts on the beach and popular among foreigners who love to play golf, tennis and to eat. The resort town has good health care service, low crime rate and only two hours’ drive from Bangkok. “American dollars will go pretty far in Thailand, where retirees could live for roughly less than $1,000 a month. Retirees would find golf, spas and amusement parks, but the main draw is the beach. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), along with the bike club of Prachuab Khirikhan, has organised a cross-country bike activity on Sunday, 6th September 2015. This event is part of a physical exercise campaign for Thais and foreigners and will allow participants to take a biking route from Prachuab Khirikhan, Thailand, to Mu Dhong, Myanmar. The organisers hope that the activity will promote good relations between Thailand and Myanmar as well as enabling public to know that the Singkhon special checkpoint located between the two countries is already open. This cross-country bike is divided into two categories. The first one, covering 25 kilometres, will start at 7 a.m. at the cultural bridge on Prachuab Bay. The participants will reach the destination at the Singkhon special checkpoint situated at the borders of Thailand and Myanmar. The second category, covering 60 kilometers, will begin at 7 a.m. at the cultural bridge on the Prachuab Bay. The participants will pass the special

checkpoint, enter Myanmar, and arrrive at Wat Chedi Thong Saphan 3 Buddhist monastery before returning to Thailand. According to the organizers, for safety of all bikers, it is preferable to use a mountain bike in the event because it is a strong bicycle and ideal for riding over rough ground. All participants of any of the two categories who reach the destination will be given a souvenir T-shirt and a certificate for free. Winners of the second category: the 60-kilometre bike, will also be awarded the first, second and third prizes. Moreover, there will be awards for the oldest and youngest male and female winners. Application should be done in advance and a copy of each participant’s I.D. card is required to complete the application. 8 15 Fun Indoor Games Here are 15 indoor games that will keep kids (and you) happy and active—no TV or video games required. Another rainy day, the kids are getting restless, and you’re fresh out of ideas for things to do? You’ve come to the right place. Remember that half the fun is getting ready. Homemade props are usually required and this is an important part of the learning process and the fun!

1. Battleship

the next person. Without looking at the hidden drawing, the next person draws a chest and arms (of a person, animal, alien), folds it back as well and passes it on to the next person. Without looking at the previous pictures, that person draws a body (stomach and hips) and the final person draws the legs and feet. (You can have more or fewer sections depending on the number of people you have playing.) Finally, unfold your papers and laugh at the weird creatures you have created.

One grid will be for locating your own ships, the other for recording shots against your opponent’s ships. Each player places three or four “ships” on his grid, then let the guessing begin. The first person to sink all the other person’s ships wins.

Most people know how to play the traditional version of Hangman. But what about kids who aren’t yet master spellers? Neal plays a variation suitable for prewriters. “We play it like 20 Questions—I would think of something, and my son would have to think of yes-or-no questions to guess what it was,” she says. “Each time he got a no answer, I’d add another part to the Hangman figure.”

While you have your masking tape out, why not make your own balance beam? We all know how much kids love walking in straight lines every chance they get. Put on some music, and one at a time the kids can take their turn walking one-foot-over-theother across the straight line of tape. Make the game more challenging by having the kids walk backwards or balance with one foot on the line.

This game will have everyone giggling. Ask the kids to sit on the floor in a circle. Turn on some tunes and have them pass the potato (a bean bag or soft ball) around the circle as fast as they can. When the music stops, the player holding the potato leaves the circle. Keep going until only one player is left and wins the game.

No list of indoor games would be complete without Hide and Seek, now would it? In this classic game, one person (“It”) covers his or her eyes and counts aloud while the other players hide. When “It” is finished counting, he or she begins looking for the hiders. The last hider to be found is the next “It.” Warning: this game is often a source of giggle fits. Families with older children might want to take things up a notch and play Hide and Seek in the dark. Just to be safe, make sure there are no loose items on the floor. If you want, allow “It” to carry a flashlight or turn the lights on once “It” finishes counting.

Kids love finding hidden objects — especially when there’s a prize at the end. Simply write your clues on some slips of paper — get creative. Place the first clue somewhere easy to find, like inside your child’s snack or cereal bowl. Then leave as many clues as you like around the house, making a trail to the final clue. Instead of a prize, the treasure hunt can lead to various coins around the house. This way the kids get to collect all the coins and put them in their piggy banks in the end. If you want to create the most amazing treasure hunt, follow these 11 tips.

This is a fun and simple verbal memory game, which, challenges the children and makes them giggle. To play, everyone sits in a circle. The first player says, “In my basket for the picnic, I packed…,” and then says what item he or she packed. The next player then says, “In my basket for the picnic, I packed…,” and then recites what the first player packed and adds his or her own item to the basket, and so forth.

This game is sure to both educate and delight little ones. Take out several miscellaneous items. Have the children look at all the items, and then take them away. Next, ask one child to hide his or her eyes and listen as you pick up an item and make sounds with it. Ask the child to guess which item made the sound. Examples of items might be a comb (run your fingers along it), a glass (gently tap it), cymbals, shakers, sandpaper, blocks rubbed together, a pot and spoon. Be creative and have fun!

12. Bubbles

You don’t have to go outside to enjoy bubbles. For this game, you need a plate and straw for each player, some dishwashing soap and water. Place a dime-size drop of dish soap at the centre of each plate. Pour a little water onto the plate and gently mix with the dish soap until some suds start to form. Have the kids place the straw in the suds and blow very gently. Watch as massive bubbles start to form. There are lots of great ways Simon can trick players into doing actions when Simon didn’t say: Simon can perform an action without uttering a command, for example, or he can perform an action that doesn’t correspond with the command. Begin by drawing a grid of dots on the paper. Using lined paper or graph paper can make this a little easier. The first person draws a line connecting two dots beside each other. Then you put your initials inside the square (or some other abbreviation to claim your square). In some versions of this game, if you complete a square you get another turn. The player with the most squares when all the squares are drawn is the winner.

Most preschoolers flock to the classroom sensory table as soon as the teachers pull it out. So there is little doubt they will love this entertaining challenge. Find a shoe box or any box that has a lid on it. Cut a hole in one of the sides of the box —large enough for your child to fit her hand in. If you want, get creative and decorate the box with glitter and question marks. When you’re ready to play, put an item inside the box and have your children guess what it is. They can ask questions about the item if they need to, or you can offer clues. Get as ooey-gooey as you wish (fresh pumpkin seeds or slimy spaghetti are great choices for Halloween), or use such simple objects as a brush, a toy, a piece of fruit. To make it competitive, you can give a point to the first child to name the object.

15. Indoor basketball

You can’t be too little for this version of basketball. All you need is a bucket and a rolled up sock (or a small, light ball). Each player takes a turn at throwing the sockball into the bucket. When a player scores a bucket, he or she takes a step back and throws again until missing. The player who shoots the ball in the bucket from the farthest distance wins.

Hua Hin International School Now a Part of the Black Mountain Community

To check out the significant new player on the Hua Hin education scene, Hua Hin Today has taken the opportunity to visit the Hua Hin International School (HHIS) twice in August. First to meet the Headteacher, “Miss Julie” at temporary office premises, but then on 22nd August we were able to have a look at the ‘real thing’ during an open day to introduce parents and students to the school two days before classes commenced. The open day was not an ‘official opening’, that’s still to come. This was an opportunity for parents and students to get the ‘feel’ of the school, meet teachers and for kids to receive their very first school uniforms; a BIG day for them! Many of us can remember the early days of school with impressions that may last a lifetime. I still cringe when I hear ‘Brahms’ Lullaby’, which was the signal that an afternoon nap was due. At the HHIS open day there was no signs of any cringing. The atmosphere was calm, very welcoming teachers and other staff exuded confidence which quickly transferred to the visitors with the kids clearly looking forward to their first day at school on Monday.

The HHIS is a modern school in every way. Open wide spaces between class rooms, comfortable relaxing classrooms as well as recreational facilities and dining areas are a feature. There’s also a sense of being part of the Black Mountain community with the school adding to the appeal of the surrounds, no longer just a housing estate but a real family home. Black Mountain General Manager Harald Elisson, two year old daughter in hand, was one of the visitors showing his appreciation of the new player on the BM scene. There will be more to come over the next few years with an additional high school building destined to adjoin the current early and primary year’s facilities. Managing Director Graham Sullivan proudly showed us around the site of around 19 Rai which links the Black Mountain Water Park to the Black Mountain Par Three golf course. The school is not boxed into an enclosed ‘city-scape’ but amongst an open green environment providing ‘room to move’. There are still many opportunities for parents of prospective students to meet with school staff, including Headteacher Julie Wood. Apart from private meetings being welcomed, on 29th September ‘Miss Julie’ will be available at 8.30 am

10 Asian Development Tour & All Thailand Golf Tour The Thongchai Jaidee Foundation Tournament 2015 at Black Mountain

The Thailand Golf Travel Mart has been a landmark golfing event which took place ‘off course’ in August at the Dusit Thani Hua Hin. This was a major showcase of what Thailand golf has to offer travelling golfers from all over the globe.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in cooperation with the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) hosted golf tour operators and buyers from key markets worldwide to connect with suppliers from all of Thailand’s golf destinations. The Petchaburi and Prachuap Khirikhan Golf Course Association was another main participant to ensure that local golf courses were high on shopping lists.

Yet another major golf event is heading for the award-winning Black Mountain Golf Course this month. From the 10th to 13th September the Thongchai Jaidee Foundation Tournament promises spectators a look at some of Thailand and Asia’s best young players. This is an Asian Development Tour and All Thailand Golf Tour Event with prize money of 3,000,000 THB on offer. Thongchai Jaidee is regarded as one of Asia’s greatest ever players, having amassed six European Tour and 13 Asian Tour titles, where he also holds the record for the most career earnings. Last year, the 45-yearold Thai native was also awarded with the ‘Asian Tour Player of the Decade’ accolade.

It is still hard to believe that Jaidee didn’t turn professional until he was 30 years old, after only being introduced to the game at the age of 16. Quite remarkably, his first golf club was a 3-iron head attached to a bamboo stick. Thongchai comments: “At the Thongchai Jaidee Foundation, our mission is always to give back to society. Anything relates to golf, I’m willing to help the younger generation to get better opportunities in life. Apart from representatives of Thailand golf courses, the buyers came from 29 countries from Europe, Asia and Australia with 146 individual businesses; from Belgium to Bulgaria, from the Netherlands to Norway and from Sri Lanka to Sweden. The Chinese contingency alone consisted of 39 separate business operators. The TAT was well represented with staff representing Thailand tourism from 27 countries worldwide attending as well as local and regional management. The Event included pre-scheduled appointments with buyers and ‘speed-dating sessions’ where suppliers met buyers without pre-scheduled meeting arrangements. Apart from the serious business, delegates enjoyed a social scene with all the trimmings and a round of golf at Royal Springfield. The IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators) is the global trade organisation for the golf tourism industry. Established in 1997, IAGTO’s membership comprises 2400 accredited golf tour

operators, golf resorts, hotels, golf courses, receptive operators, airlines, tourist boards, approved media and business partners in 98 countries including, at its core, 589 specialist golf tour operators in 61 countries. It is estimated that IAGTO’s operators control over 85% of golf holiday packages sold worldwide. “We strive to provide information, create opportunities and make introductions that will help you develop your business faster, with less effort and less cost. Our staff around the world are constantly developing new services for our members to take advantage of. We pride ourselves on being at the heart of the golf tourism industry and invite you to join us.” says Peter Walton, Chief Executive, IAGTO. The 5th Asia Golf Tourism Convention (AGTC) will take place in Chiang Mai from 24-27 April 2016. The AGTC is a premier golf travel event in the Asia Pacific region. It is likely to attract a record number of golf tour operators from around the world, along with golf travel suppliers from every golf destination in the Asia Pacific.

2015 Golf Festival Tees-Off In Style

Play is underway in the 2015 Hua Hin and Cha-Am Golf Festival after a colourful opening ceremony heralding the first weekly competition day at the Majestic Creek Country Club on 2nd August. However very few non-Thai golfers were in attendance; with the exception of local golf tour operators and management staff from the golf courses involved. Marketing of this important event outside of the country may still need to be in need of development to achieve the Festival’s promotional aims.

The opening ceremony featured Thai dancing and music with golf clubs being the dancers’ chosen accessory. In attendance was the Phetchaburi Governor, Khun Montien Thongnit (he’s a golfer!), with the Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khirikhan Golf Course Association Chairman Khun Suwit Reanrogruang and Board Members. The Tourism Authority of Thailand was represented by the local and regional Directors. Many more VIPs, including media stars, joined the full field of golfers ready to tee-off.

TAT Governor Thawatchai Arunyik said, “The Hua Hin/Cha-am Golf Festival has been held successfully for several years now to promote golf and other sports that tourists can enjoy in Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan. As the event has become better known by sportsmen and women internationally, it has become much anticipated by local businesses, which enjoy a boost of visitors during what has traditionally been the province’s low season.”

During the festival, the 10 participating golf courses are offering special promotions at 1,000 Baht and 1,800 Baht per person per round. The prices will vary from course to course. 12 Ten Great Golf Games With A Twist Our suggestions for fun games to play with friends during your next round. DESCRIPTION: At the end of a round, each player gets to throw out his or her score on three holes and then the best 15-hole score wins. This is a great game for mid-to-high handicappers because it keeps everyone involved much deeper into the round, especially if a player or two had a couple of “blow-up” holes along the way. 6. SNAKE PERFECT FOR: Learning how to putt better in the clutch

1. BISQUE PERFECT FOR: Golfers who routinely struggle with a specific hole

DESCRIPTION: In a Stableford game, instead of the scorecard mandating where handicap strokes are given, a player can use his or her handicap strokes on any hole until they run out. A maximum of two strokes can be used on any one hole. The handicap stroke (or two) may need to be declared before the tee shot on that hole or after completion, up to you! The player with the low-net score wins. This game is great because, if there are holes on your course where you routinely struggle, you can use your strokes on those holes to avoid a big score.

DESCRIPTION: The problem with the popular game called a “nassau” is that winning the 18-hole match is often undervalued. With a closeout, the 18-hole match is one competition, a second match is for the 1st nine and a 3rd match is for the 2nd nine. The real beauty of this game is that it’s simple to keep track of the match.

DESCRIPTION: You know those threefooters that your group always swats away as “gimmes?” You can’t do that with this game. You have to putt them out and any time a player three-putts or worse (the ball has to be on the green for the first putt), that person wins the ‘snake’. The last person to three-putt and the holder of the ‘snake’ has a predetermined penalty. Another version makes the person with the most threeputts penalised. It’s recommended to play this game when the course isn’t crowded because it can slow things down. However, it’s a great game to learn how to make short putts and not take other putts for granted.

DESCRIPTION: This is a standard matchplay competition with a little twist. When a golfer or team wins a hole, they “remove” a club from the opponent or opponents’ bags. That means the other team can’t use that club for the rest of the round. This continues until the match is decided. A variation of this game allows a team to reinstall clubs to their set if someone on the team makes net birdie or better to win a hole. Things can get really creative and shotmaking becomes a bigger part of the round when certain clubs are eliminated. The putter is usually exempt from this process.

2. 5-3-1 PERFECT FOR: Threesomes

DESCRIPTION: It’s tough to find good games for three players but this one might be the best. There are a total of nine points available on each hole. The player with the low score on a hole gets five points. The player with the second-lowest score gets three. And the worst score on a hole gets one. If there are ties, you simply divide the points by the number of players tied. For example, if two players tie for the best score on a hole, they split the first- and secondplace points, 5 + 3/2 = 4 apiece or if two tie for second, 3 + 1/2 = 2 apiece. If all three players have an equal score – 3 points each. 3. CLOSEOUT PERFECT FOR: Golfers who like to keep it simple and fair

DESCRIPTION: This one is my favorite because it rewards players who don’t give up. Essentially, any time a player follows up a double bogey or worse with a par or better on the next hole, they win a point determined in advance by your group. Any time a player makes back-to-back double bogeys or worse, they lose a point.

DESCRIPTION: Each player takes his or her course handicap, then subtracts that number from 36 and that becomes the point quota they have to make during a round. Typical scoring for a mid-handicap group would be 1 point for a bogey, 2 points for a par, 4 for a birdie and 8 for an eagle (points can be adjusted in any way). The player with the most points above their quota wins. I’ve always liked this game because pars and birdies are worth so much more to average golfers than just being one shot better than a bogey.

After earning points on a hole, the player has the option of banking the amount or “letting it ride,” meaning the point total can still grow on subsequent holes. However, if a player elects to let his or her points ride and a double bogey or worse is made, the player’s total points not banked goes back to zero. Banked points can’t be taken away and are credited at the end of the round. The players with the highest point totals are paid a predetermined amount for every point they have earned in relation to the other players. This is a great game for golfers who are streaky and also for golfers who love to gamble. Think about it: If you make back-to-back birdies without banking, you’ll have earned the equivalent of making 18 bogeys earned at 5 points each.

DESCRIPTION: Instead of rewarding players for good play, golfers are given points for their mistakes. A common point allocation: Hitting a ball in a bunker (1); Hitting into the water (2). Hitting out-of-bounds (3). Threeputting (1). Four-putting (4). Duffing a tee shot (1). Points can also be subtracted for stellar play such as making birdies, holing long putts or stiffing shots from off the green, etc. This is a great game to learn course management and how to stop taking unnecessary risks.

Last month the Hua Hin International School (HHIS) opened for business; educational business that is. There’s been an open day and the last few weeks of the month have been a busy period for all concerned but especially for the Head Teacher, Julie Wood. Education has been a career-long focus, teaching pupils of all ages, lecturing at tertiary institutions and now taking on the challenge of being the principal of Hua Hin’ first real international school with a UK curriculum. Julie describes the changing role of education in a world where students need to learn skills that will be transferable worldwide

but with another focus being the school community environment. Julie’s personal influence has also been evident in the recruitment of teachers with a wealth of experience with literally hundreds of applications and now a full complement of English language ‘experts’ in their own field after a thorough selection process in England, Thailand and sometimes via Skype. A common criticism of English language teaching in Thailand is the lack of native English speaking staff. This issue certainly does not apply at the HHIS. Julie’s own reputation has been influential in the attraction of such a strong staffing complement. The Grito de Dolores (“Cry of Dolores”) was uttered from the small town of Dolores, near Guanajuato in Mexico, on September 16, 1810. It is the event that marks the beginning of the Mexican War of Independence. The “grito” was the pronunciamiento of the Mexican War of Independence by Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, a Roman Catholic priest. Since October 1825, the anniversary of the event is celebrated as Mexican Independence Day. At around eleven in the evening, the President of Mexico rings the bell of the National Palace in Mexico City. After the ringing of the bell, he repeats a shout of patriotism (a Grito Mexicano) based upon the “Grito de Dolores”, with the names of the important heroes of the Mexican War of Independence, ending with the threefold shout of ¡Viva México!

18 Bike for Mom Sets World Record - More Than 294,800 Cyclists Join Event Hundreds of thousands of blue-clad people nationwide have affirmed their respect, love and loyalty for Her Majesty the Queen and the monarchy with their largest ever bicycle parade which set a new world record. The main event was in Bangkok where His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn led more than 40,000 cyclists who joined the “Bike for Mom” cycling event to mark Her Majesty’s 83rd birthday. The Crown Prince and Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha led cyclists along the 43-kilometre round-route from the Royal Plaza through Bangkok streets to the 11th Infantry Regiment in Bang Khen. The event notched up a new record for the world’s largest bicycle parade, breaking the previous record set in Taiwan. In 2012 which drew 72,919 cyclists across the country to ride, according to the World Record Academy. For Thailand, 294,863 people registered to participate in the “Bike for Mom” parade nationwide. The Guinness World Records committee was also invited to certify the event. The committee has certified that Thailand now holds the new world record, with 146,266 cyclists nationwide who successfully rode and met its criteria. People from all walks of life, from children to the elderly, as well as people with

disabilities, participated in the event. In the capital, late-comers braved the heat and bright sunlight, as they stood in the middle of Sanam Luang, queuing for their last minute registration. Even for those who didn’t enroll by the late July deadline, the much-expected parade could not be missed. It was an historical day, cyclists and curious onlookers agreed cheerfully adding the temperature, though hot, didn’t stop them from coming. Some came as early as 7am. By early afternoon, the attention shifted a few streets down to the front of the Royal Plaza, where many waited for HRH the Crown Prince to kickstart the parade. Most VIPs, including Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, cabinet members, court presidents and high-ranking officials as well as diplomats, had their bicycles lined up since morning at the Royal Plaza. They were joined by various politicians, politicians, as well as businessmen and celebrities. This special moment was televised and the sea of blue blossomed to prove how united Thais are in their overwhelming loyalty to the royal family. I’m happy the Royal Family is supportive of cycling events and hope it will be a starting point for Thais to ride their bikes more often,” said Supakon Pattanakhunam, an experienced cyclist. The avid rider says he wants the world to see that Thais chose to ride bicycles as their way of expressing

their love for the monarchy. “It’s the first time I have been able to ride with HRH Crown Prince. It might be the only time as well. I wish he’d do that more often,” he said, adding he was hoping to show his best skills for this occasion. Along the cycling route, crowds mostly clad in blue waved blue flags and shouted “Long Live the Crown Prince” when he biked past. The Crown Prince responded by smiling and waving his hand at the people. It’s the first time that such an activity has been held, with HRH the Crown Prince taking part in it side by side with the public, said Boonsong Suthipjit, a medical doctor from the Royal Household Bureau. “I dropped all other activities I had today, to volunteer... as a medic here,” said Dr Boonsong. ‘’The day is very special,’’ Dr Boonsong added, as

he described how the event differed from other royal celebrations. He feels it allowed people to take a part in celebrations than in past such events. Meanwhile, villagers in several parts across the country attended the Bike for Mom activity as well. In Mae Hong Son, ethnic Karen highlanders in Huai Sua Thao of Muang district rode their bikes as part of the event. In Phitsanulok, Wattana Khamin, an 11-year-old disabled boy with no arms, arrived at Phitsanulok city hall in Muang district with his relatives to join the local cycling parade. In Phayao, Plieng Rakphan, an 83-year-old man attended the Bike for Mom event covering 26km in the province. He said even though his bicycle was old, he wanted to be part of this national activity.

‘No Plastic’ Shopping Day Each Month Fifteen supermarket chains have agreed on ‘no plastic bag’ shopping days on the 15th of each month, to reduce usage of plastic bags and the pollution they cause. Pavinee Punnakanta, Director-General of Department of Environmental Quality Promotion, said shoppers at the 15 chains participating in the promotion must provide their own bags on those days. Goods purchased from those stores would not be placed in handout plastic shopping bags or foam packaging at cashier checkout. The department believed that the project would help reduce the amount of garbage and pollution and lead the way to future sustainable waste management.

the quality of the beach in Ao Manao was as good as that of Laem Sala in Prachuab Khirikhan, Ao Kha of Wua Ta Lab Island and Sam Sao in Surat Thani, Thai Mueng and Ao Keuk of Similan Archipelago, Mai Ngam of Surin Archipelago in Pang Nga, Laem Tanod of Lanta Island, Ko Rok and Bileh of Hong Island in Krabi and Li Dee in Satul. A 5-star beach should be the one with perfect natural resources, no pollutions as well as appropriate environmental and tourism management. 22 Kiteboarding in Hua Hin – ‘Enjoy Life On A Windy Beach’ “Kiteboarding is like waterskiing behind a silent, clean, self-controlled helicopter.” This is a blog on a kiteboarding forum from someone trying to explain what this sport is all about. Perhaps an even more heartfelt comment was .................. “If you consider the wind as sacred, treating it with reverence while others consider your enthusiasm to be fanatical and extreme – then you’re a kiteboarder!” Kiteboarding is a surface water sport combining aspects of wakeboarding, windsurfing, surfing, paragliding, and gymnastics into one extreme sport. A kiteboarder harnesses the power of the wind with a large controllable power kite to be propelled across the water on a kiteboard similar to a wakeboard or a small surfboard. Like surfing, kiteboarding is a sport primarily enjoyed by individuals who don’t usually need competition or organised events. For them this is about self-expression on the water and the satisfaction of joining with the elements in an environmentally way. The first kite school in Thailand was established in Hua Hin back in 2001. Since then Kiteboard Asia (KBA) has opened many schools in Thailand and Vietnam. With almost 15 years’ experience, there isn’t much they haven’t learned so much about kiteboarding, teaching, and how to run the best kitesurfing services. Amari Hotel Hua Hin - Some Exciting Developments On the 2nd of August my husband and I were kindly invited to stay at the Amari Hua Hin as part of their 3rd year anniversary of opening celebrations. We have just returned from memorable mini European city tour which was great apart from the so called 4 star hotel rooms which were all minute, pretty shabby and phenomenally expensive. In comparison, our deluxe room at the Amari Hua Hin was first class and such a bargain for the price. Our very large (38m2) high spec’d room had a large balcony overlooking the huge swimming pool and was spotlessly clean and seemed to be brand new (no European shabbiness here!!!). Particularly impressive was the

large shower room which is easily big enough for two people to shower in at the same time to be eco-friendly; ‘save water, shower together’! As for getting a good night’s sleep, our room gets 10 out of 10. It was very quiet you could hear a pin drop, the air-con was silent and it featured “black-out” curtains so no getting woken up by the morning sun. The only negative aspect was the king sized bed. This was far too comfortable. So much so that we slept through our alarm and almost missed our morning appointment. After an excellent breakfast, we had an opportunity to have a chat with the very

Crab Cake: 20 gm crab meat, 5 gm of Old bay seasoning powder, 5 gm of chopped garlic, 5 gm of chopped coriander leave, 1 chicken egg, 15 gm bread crumbs, 8 gm mayonnaise, 5 ml Worcestershire sauce, Salt and pepper Salsa: 1 Avocado diced, 1 Plum tomato, 5 gm of chopped shallots, 5 gm of chopped coriander leave, Lemon juice of half a lemon, 5 ml. red Tabasco sauce, 5 ml olive oil, Salt and pepper, Grilled prawn: Season with salt and pepper and pan-fry until cooked (2 minutes/ depends on size) Crab Cake preparation: In a small bowl, whisk the egg, mayonnaise, Old Bay seasoning, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and 1/4 tsp. salt. Scrape the mixture over the crab meat and mix gently until well combined. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs and the coriander over the mixture, and mix them in thoroughly but gently; Shape the crab mixture into 8 cakes about 1 inch thick. In a 12-inch nonstick skillet, heat the butter with the olive oil over medium heat. When the butter is frothy, add the cakes to the pan and cook until dark golden brown on the underside, Avocado Salsa: Combine avocado, tomato, shallot, lemon juice and coriander in a bowl. Season with Tabasco salt and pepper.

A: I have a doctorate degree in architecture, but I have worked in the fashion world as well. I saw a need for an international design during the 80’s design boom, I established Accademia Italiana in Florence in 1984. Its success soon prompted the opening of one more campus in Rome and a third one in Bangkok in 2007. Q: Tell us about Accademia Italina Bangkok. What is your vision and what inspired the idea to establish another campus in the heart of Thailand? A: We opened the third campus in Bangkok in 2007. Our institute in Bangkok is located in the very heart of city’s central business district. Bangkok is an important reference point in the Orient because here there is potential that can give an innovative contribution to international design, here the young people are greatly motivated and there is a huge interest in this field and in the applied arts. As we already had several connections and affiliations with Thai institutions, it was relatively easy to set up. Q: What strategic partnerships strategies have you implemented that have attributed to Accademia Italiana’s success? A: The young designers of Accademia Italiana have had many opportunities to collaborate with some of the most prestigious brand names in the world, and this international recognition underlines the value of the professional preparation provided. From Cavalli to Prada, Gucci to Calvin Klein, Vivienne Westwood to Burberry, many young designers and photographers have been introduced into the working world with these famous names and many others. Most importantly, every year our students get the chance to show off their creativity and technical capabilities. The yearend event always includes a fashion show and an exhibition of Graphic, Interior and Industrial design works. On this special day, students will compete to create their very own line for F. Fashion as well as get to present their final ranges to their families and friends, the public and industry during a professional live fashion show which highlights all students’ work across the semesters. The academy, who boast children of the staff amongst well over 90 registered players and is preparing hard for the start of a new league season in September, teamed up with the hotel to organise a Cha-am Beach and Temple Cleaning Teambuilding Activity for players, coaches, family members, who were joined by Dusit Thani Hua Hin Staff. A working party of almost 100 people took part, leaving from the hotel for Cha-am Beach with a police escort which later took the convoy to Mrigadayawan Temple, where the group also had the opportunity to make merit, as well as donate towards the temple’s upkeep and construction of a central image of the Lord Buddha. Athough tiring, this most gratifying contribution to the local Cha-am community by Dusit Thani Hua Hin and Dusit Thani Hua Hin Football Academy was extremely well received, gaining extensive coverage from the local media, including Cha-Am Charlie Cable TV on behalf of Thai TV Channel 7.

รัฐบาลโดยศูนย์อ�ำ นวยการความปลอดภัยทางถนน หรือ ศปถ. ซึง่ เป็นหน่วย งานกลางในด้านการป้องกันและลดอุบัติเหตุทางถนนของประเทศไทย ได้ให้ความ สำ�คัญเร่งด่วนในการแก้ไขปัญหาอุบตั เิ หตุทเ่ี กิดขึน้ กับรถจักรยานในทุกระดับ ทัง้ ส่วน กลาง ส่วนภูมภิ าค และส่วนท้องถิน่ โดยนำ�กรอบแนวทางแผนแม่บทความปลอดภัย ทางถนน พ.ศ.2556 – 2559 มติคณะรัฐมนตรี วันที่ 24 กุมภาพันธ์ 2558 และวัน ที่ 2 มิถนุ ายน 2558 รวมทัง้ แผนปฏิบตั กิ ารเพือ่ รับรองแผนแม่บทและแผนทศวรรษ ความปลอดภัยทางถนน พ.ศ.2556 – 2559 มาจัดทำ�เป็นกรอบแนวทางการขับ เคลือ่ นการส่งเสริมความปลอดภัยในการสัญจรด้วยรถจักรยาน เพือ่ ให้หน่วยงานที่

เมือ่ เวลา 09.00 น.วันนี้ (14 ส.ค.58) นายมณเฑียร ทองนิตย์ ผูว้ า่ ราชการจังหวัดเพชรบุรี เป็นประธานเปิดตลาดน้�ำ ชุมชนตำ�บลนาพันสาม ขึน้ ทีว่ ดั นาพรม ต.นาพันสาม อ.เมือง จ.เพชรบุรี โดยมีนายประสิทธิ์ รวมสิน นายกองค์การบริหารส่วน ตำ�บลนาพันสาม ด.ร.วรวิสตู ร ฉิมพาลี ปลัดองค์การบริหารส่วน ตำ�บลนาพันสาม พระครูพศิ าล วัชรกิจ รองเจ้าคณะอำ�เภอเมือง เพชรบุรี เจ้าอาวาสวัดนาพรม ส่วนราชการ ผูน้ �ำ ท้องถิน่ ชาว บ้านตำ�บลนาพันสามและนักท่องเทีย่ วทีท่ ราบข่าวเดินทางมาร่วม งานจำ�นวนมาก สำ�หรับการเปิดตลาดน้�ำ นาพันสามครัง้ นี้ เป็นโครงการ ส่งเสริมการท่องเทีย่ วเชิงวัฒนธรรม โดยคณะผูบ้ ริหารส่วนท้อง ถิน่ มีนโนบายให้ท�ำ กิจกรรมเกีย่ วกับการส่งเสริมอาชีพของชาว บ้านให้มรี ายได้ โดยตำ�บลนาพันสามมีหลายอย่างทีเ่ หมาะสม และมีความพร้อมในการจัดทำ�ตลาดน้�ำ และได้บรู ณาการร่วมกัน กับพระครูพศิ าล วัชรกิจ รองเจ้าคณะอำ�เภอเมืองเพชรบุรี เจ้า อาวาสวัดนาพรม ที่มีแนวคิดว่าวัดนาพรมมีของดีของเก่า มากมายทีน่ า่ เผยแพร่และส่งเสริม ทาง อบต.จึงได้รว่ มกับวัดนา พรมและชุมชนจัดโครงการดังกล่าวขึน้ เพือ่ เป็นการส่งเสริมให้ ชาวบ้านในชุมชนมีอาชีพมีรายได้จากการจำ�หน่ายสินค้าและเผย แพร่ศลิ ปวัฒนธรรมของดีของตำ�บลนาพันสามให้เป็นทีร่ จู้ กั แพร่ หลาย ซึง่ ใช้พน้ื ทีว่ ดั นาพรม เปิดเป็นตลาดน้�ำ เพราะภายในวัดจะ

เกษตรจังหวัดเพชรบุรี กำ�หนดยุทธศาสตร์ นำ�ทุเรียนปลูกทดแทนสวนยางพารา

เกษตรจังหวัดเพชรบุรกี �ำ หนดยุทธศาสตร์น�ำ ทุเรียนปลูกทดแทนพืน้ ทีป่ ลูกยางพารา เพราะขณะนีย้ างพารากำ�ลัง ประสบปัญหาเรือ่ งของราคา เนือ่ งจากมีการปลูกมากเกินความต้องการของตลาด ทุเรียนจึงเป็นพืชทีม่ อี นาคตเพราะ ความต้องการของตลาดดีมาก ประกอบกับทุเรียนของเพชรบุรใี ห้ผลผลิตในช่วงทีท่ เุ รียนทางภาคตะวันออกอยูใ่ นช่วง ปลายฤดู ทำ�ให้ได้ราคาดี นายโสภณ คงเทียบ เกษตรจังหวัดเพชรบุรี เปิดเผยว่า เป็นทีท่ ราบดีวา่ ในขณะนีก้ ารลงทุนปลูกยางพารานัน้ กำ�ลังประสบปัญหาภาวะขาดทุนของเกษตรกร ซึง่ ไม่ได้เกิดปัญหาขึน้ เฉพาะที่ จ.เพชรบุรี แต่เกิดขึน้ ทัง้ ประเทศ คือผลิต มากกว่าความต้องการของตลาด โดยจังหวัดเพชรบุรมี พี น้ื ทีป่ ลูกยางพาราอยูจ่ �ำ นวนมาก ทางเกษตรจังหวัดเพชรบุรี จึง ได้มาร่วมคิดกับกลุม่ ส่งเสริมการผลิตของจังหวัด จนกระทัง่ มีแนวคิดในการกำ�หนดยุทธศาสตร์คอื ต้องการลดพืน้ ทีก่ าร ปลูกยางพาราให้นอ้ ยลง โดยจะต้องมีพชื ตัวอืน่ เข้ามาทดแทน ซึง่ จากการประมวลสถานภาพของจังหวัดเพชรบุรี ศักยภาพ ของพืน้ ทีม่ คี วามเหมาะสมในเรือ่ งของการปลูกทุเรียน จึงคิดว่าจะนำ�ทุเรียนขึน้ มาปลูกแทนยางพาราเพราะจุดแข็งของ ทุเรียนเพชรบุรจี ะออกหลังจากภาคตะวันออกและออกก่อนจากทางภาคใต้ ซึง่ จะอยูร่ ะหว่างรอยต่อในช่วงของฤดูพอดี

อ่าวมะนาว จ.ประจวบฯ คว้า 5 ดาว เป็นชายหาดสิง่ เเวดล้อมระดับดีมาก

เมือ่ วันที่ 14 ส.ค. นายวิจารย์ สิมาฉายา อธิบดี กรมควบคุมมลพิษ (คพ.) กล่าวว่า กองบิน 5 จ.ประจวบคีรขี นั ธ์ หน่วยงานทีด่ แู ลชายหาดอ่าวมะนาว เสนอหาดอ่าวมะนาวเข้าร่วมประเมินคุณภาพสิง่ แวดล้อม ชายหาดท่องเทีย่ ว หรือโครงการชายหาดติดดาวของกรม ควบคุมมลพิษในปี 55 ซึง่ ผลการประเมินได้ระดับดี (4 ดาว) และในปี 58 กองบิน 5 ได้พฒ ั นาและปรับปรุง คุณภาพสิง่ แวดล้อมจนได้ยกระดับคุณภาพชายหาดเป็น ระดับดี มาก (5 ดาว) นายวิจารย์กล่าวอีกว่า คณะกรรมการตรวจ ประเมินคุณภาพสิง่ แวดล้อมชายหาด ลงพืน้ ทีอ่ า่ วมะนาว เพือ่ รับทราบการดำ�เนินงาน พร้อมทัง้ ตรวจสอบและ รับรองผลการประเมินคุณภาพสิง่ แวดล้อม ก่อนมีมติ รับรองว่าชายหาดอ่าวมะนาวเป็นหาดที่มีคุณภาพสิ่ง แวดล้อมระดับ 5 ดาว โดยในประเทศไทยมีชายหาดที่ เคยผ่านการประเมินคุณภาพสิง่ แวดล้อมในระดับ 5 ดาว

ตลอดจนเป็นแหล่งน้�ำ เพือ่ การเกษตรของจังหวัด เพชรบุรมี าช้านาน และสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยาม บรมราชกุมารี ได้เสด็จมาทรงประกอบพิธหี ลัง่ น้�ำ คืนชีวติ ให้ แก่แม่น�ำ้ เพชรบุรี เมือ่ วันที่ 7 สิงหาคม พุทธศักราช 2551 ณ ริมแม่น�ำ้ เพชรบุรี บริเวณพระราชวังรามราชนิเวศน์ หรือ วังบ้านปืน จึงถือเอาวันที่ 7 สิงหาคม เป็นวันสืบสานการ อนุรกั ษ์แม่น�ำ้ เพชรบุรสี บื ต่อมา

ประชุมนานาชาติการใช้ประโยชน์ที่ดินอย่างยั่งยืน เพื่อความมั่นคงทางอาหารฉลองปีที่ดินสากล 2558

ประเทศไทยถือเป็นประเทศหนึ่งที่สามารถผลิต อาหารได้อย่างเหลือเฟือ แต่นบั จากนีไ้ ปอีก 30-40 ปีขา้ งหน้า เมือ่ ประชากรเพิม่ ขึน้ อีก ความต้องการทางด้านอาหารก็จะเพิม่ ขึน้ ตามไปด้วย แต่วนั นีท้ ด่ี นิ เพือ่ ทำ�การเกษตรส่วนใหญ่ได้กลาย เป็นบ้านจัดสรร และโรงงานอุตสาหกรรม ทำ�ให้เหลือพื้นที่ ทำ�การเกษตรน้อยมาก ดังนัน้ จึงจำ�เป็นอย่างยิง่ ทีต่ อ้ งมีการดูแล เรือ่ งทรัพยากรดิน ซึง่ เป็นหนึง่ ในปัจจัยทีส่ �ำ คัญของความมัน่ คง ทางอาหาร กรมพัฒนาทีด่ นิ กระทรวงเกษตรและสหกรณ์ เล็ง เห็นความสำ�คัญในเรือ่ งดังกล่าว จึงได้น�ำ มาเป็นหัวข้อหลักใน การจัดการประชุมวิชาการระหว่างประเทศ International Soil Conference หัวข้อ “การใช้ประโยชน์ท่ดี ินอย่างยั่งยืน ใน แนวทางทีส่ อดคล้องกับความมัน่ คงอาหาร (Sustainable Uses of Soil inHarmony with Food Security)” ทีโ่ รงแรมรีเจนท์ ชะอำ�บีช รีสอร์ท จังหวัดเพชรบุรี ระหว่างวันที่ 18-21 สิงหาคม 2558 ดร.อภิชาต จงสกุล อธิบดีกรมพัฒนาทีด่ นิ กล่าวว่า การประชุ ม ในครั้ง นี้ เป็ น หนึ่ง ในหลายๆ กิ จ กรรมที่ก รม

พัฒนาทีด่ นิ ได้จดั ขึน้ เพือ่ เฉลิมฉลองปีดนิ สากล 2558 โดยร่วม กับ 7 หน่วยงานระหว่างประเทศ และในประเทศ ทีด่ �ำ เนินการ เกีย่ วข้องกับดิน ได้แก่ IUSS FAO ADB IRD สมาคมดิน และปุ๋ยแห่งประเทศไทย สมาคมอนุรักษ์ดินและน้ำ�แห่ง ประเทศไทย และมหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ โดยทีผ่ า่ นมาก รมได้มกี ารจัดกิจกรรมต่างๆ ตลอดทัง้ ปี 2558 อาทิ เมือ่ เดือน เมษายน 2558 กรมพัฒนาทีด่ นิ ได้มกี ารจัดประชุมวิชาการ ระดับชาติ หัวข้อ “การพัฒนาทีด่ นิ ปี 2558” ระหว่างวันที่ 27-29 เมษายน 2558 จังหวัดขอนแก่น การจัดทำ�พิพธิ ภัณฑ์ ดินระดับภูมิภาค ซึ่งตั้งอยู่ท่ีสถานีพัฒนาที่ดินเขต จังหวัด เชียงใหม่ อุบลราชธานี ราชบุรี สงขลา และนราธิวาส นอกจากนี้ กรมพัฒนาทีด่ นิ ยังได้จดั กิจกรรมพิเศษที่ สนับสนุนการรับรูแ้ ละสร้างความตระหนักรูถ้ งึ ความสำ�คัญของ ดิน โดยมีกลุม่ เป้าหมายคือ บุคคลทัว่ ไป นักศึกษา และเยาวชน ซึง่ ถือว่าเป็นกำ�ลังสำ�คัญและเป็นอนาคตของประเทศ ด้วยการ จัดประกวดสุนทรพจน์ภาษาอังกฤษระดับอุดมศึกษา หัวข้อ Healthy Soils for a Healthy Life ซึง่ ทีมนักศึกษาจาก มหาวิทยาลัยนเรศวรได้รับรางวัลชนะเลิศ และการประกวด

ภาพยนตร์สารคดีสน้ั เรือ่ งพลังแห่งแผ่นดิน ซึง่ ทีม July Film จากประชาชนทัว่ ไป ได้รบั รางวัลชนะเลิศจากภาพยนตร์สน้ั เรือ่ ง “คำ�ตอบของก้อนดิน (Meaning of Life)” นอกจากนี้ ยังมี กิจกรรมทีก่ รมพัฒนาทีด่ นิ จัดขึน้ เป็นประจำ�ทุกเดือน ได้แก่ การ บรรยายพิเศษเกีย่ วกับความสำ�คัญ และการอนุรกั ษ์และพัฒนา ทรัพยากรดิน และเปิดให้กลุม่ นักเรียน นักศึกษาเข้าเยีย่ มชม พิพธิ ภัณฑ์ดนิ ทีก่ รมพัฒนาทีด่ นิ กรุงเทพฯ การประชุมครัง้ นี้ มีจดุ ประสงค์เพือ่ ร่วมเฉลิมฉลองปี ดินสากล และสร้างเวทีให้ผบู้ ริหารระดับนโยบาย ผูท้ รงคุณวุฒิ ด้านดิน จากประเทศต่างๆ ได้มาร่วมแลกเปลีย่ นความคิดเห็น ถ่ายทอดประสบการณ์ พร้อมทัง้ ร่วมอภิปราย เพือ่ หามาตรการ ที่มีประสิทธิภาพในการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรดินให้สามารถใช้ ประโยชน์ได้อย่างยั่งยืน เพื่อสร้างความปลอดภัยและความ มัน่ คงด้านอาหาร โดยรูปแบบการประชุม ประกอบด้วย การ บรรยายพิเศษจาก FAO IUSS การประชุมหารือ การนำ�เสนอ ความก้าวหน้าในการดำ�เนินงานด้านการพัฒนาทรัพยากรดิน ภาคบรรยายภาคโปสเตอร์ การดูงานนอกสถานที่ และการจัด แสดงนิทรรศการ โดยได้เชิญผูแ้ ทนจากหน่วยงานราชการ ผูท้ รง

มหามังคลาภิเษก 7 กษัตริย์ “อุทยานราชภักดิ”์

พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยูห่ วั ทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าฯพระราชทานพระบรมราชานุญาติให้จดั สร้างและพระราชทานชือ่ ว่าอุทยานราชภักดิ์ ทีม่ คี วามหมายว่าอุทยานทีส่ ร้างขึน้ ด้วยความจงรักภักษ์ดตี อ่ พระมหากษัตริย์ ทัง้ นี้ พระบรมราชานุสาวรียท์ ง้ั 7 พระองค์ ก่อตัง้ ในพืน้ ทีก่ องทัพบก จำ�นวน 222 ไร่เศษ สร้างในพระอิรยิ าบททรงยืน ความสูงประมาณ13.9 เมตร หรือ 7.9 เท่าของคนจริง ทรงหล่อด้วยเนือ้ สำ�ริดนอกประดิษฐานบนแท่นขนาด ยาว 134 เมตร กว้าง 43 เมตร สูง 8 เมตร ได้กอ่ สร้างบนลานเอนกประสงค์ ประมาณ 90,000 ตารางเมตร โดยมีวตั ถุประสงค์เพือ่ เทิดทูลและประกาศเกียรติคณ ุ องค์สมเด็จพระบุรพกษัตริยแ์ ห่งสยาม เพือ่ ใช้เป็นสถานที่ กระทำ�พิธสี �ำ คัญสำ�หรับกองทัพและต้อนรับบุคคลสำ�คัญจากต่างประเทศ ใช้เป็นสถานทีท่ อ่ งเทีย่ วเรียนรูป้ ระวัตศิ าสตร์ชาติไทย และแหล่งเรียนรูท้ ใ่ี หญ่ทส่ี ดุ แห่งหนึง่ ของประเทศ ซึง่ หลังจากนีจ้ ะเปิดให้ประชาชนและนักท่องเทีย่ ว สามารถเข้าชมฟรีได้ทกุ วัน (อ่านต่อหน้า 7)

“ราชภักดิ์” ไบค์ แอนด์ คอนเสิร์ต “แทนคุณแผ่นดิน” เทศบาลเมืองชะอำ� ร่วมกับ ททท. ชวนเที่ยวงาน “กินหอย ดูนก ตกหมึก” ชะอำ� ครั้งที่ ๑๗

เนือ่ งด้วย พระเจ้าหลานเธอ พระองค์เจ้าพัชรกิตยิ าภา พระองค์มพี ระประสงค์จะช่วยเหลือกองทัพบก ในการจัดหาราย ได้เพือ่ สมทบทุนในการจัดสร้างอุทยานราชภักดิ์ ให้ส�ำ เร็จโดยเร็ว จึงทรงมีพระดำ�ริกรอบแนวทางการจัดหาทุน ด้วยการจัดกิจกรรม “ราช ภักดิ์ ไบค์ แอนด์ คอนเสิรต์ แทนคุณแผ่นดิน” ในครัง้ นี้ ดังนัน้ จึงถือได้วา่ เป็นกิจกรรมทีม่ คี วามสำ�คัญยิง่ ทีพ่ ระองค์ทรงมีพระเมตตา ในการทีจ่ ะสนับสนุน ช่วยเหลือ ให้การจัดสร้างอุทยานราชภักดิ์ สำ�เร็จลุลว่ งตามวัตถุประสงค์ คือ เป็นอุทยานทีส่ ร้างขึน้ จากความจงรัก ภักดีของปวงพสกนิกรชาวไทยทีม่ ตี อ่ พระมหากษัตริย์ และพวกเราในฐานะประชาชนคนไทยทุกคน จะได้รว่ มกันภาคภูมใิ จทีไ่ ด้เป็นส่วน หนึง่ ของการก่อสร้างอนุสรณ์สถานอันยิง่ ใหญ่แห่งนี้ อันจะจารึกไว้บนแผ่นดินสืบไป เพือ่ ให้การจัดสร้างอุทยานราชภักดิ์ สามารถดำ�เนินการจดเสร็จสิน้ สมบูรณ์ดว้ ยความเรียบร้อย กรมกิจการพลเรือนทหาร บก ในฐานะหน่วยรับผิดชอบหลักทางฝ่ายอำ�นวยการในการจัดสร้างอุทยานราชภักดิ์ จึงได้จดั ทำ�กิจกรรม “ราชภักดิ์ ไบค์ แอนด์ คอนเสิรต์ แทนคุณแผ่นดิน” (อ่านต่อหน้า 7)

เทศบาลเมืองชะอำ� ร่วมกับการท่องเทีย่ วแห่งประเทศไทย และสิงห์คอร์เปอเรชัน่ เตรียมจัดงานเทศกาลท่องเทีย่ วยิง่ ใหญ่ ระดับประเทศอีกครัง้ เพือ่ ส่งเสริมการท่องเทีย่ วช่วงฤดูฝน ในงานเทศกาลกินหอย ดูนก ตกหมึก ชะอำ� ครัง้ ที่ ๑๗ ระหว่างวันที่ ๑๒ – ๑๙ กันยายน ๒๕๕๘ ณ จุดชมวิวชายหาดชะอำ� จากการทีเ่ ทศบาลเมืองชะอำ� โดยนายนุกลู พรสมบูรณ์ศริ ิ นายกเทศมนตรีเมือง ชะอำ� ได้รเิ ริม่ ให้มกี ารจัดงานเทศกาลท่องเทีย่ วทีย่ ง่ิ ใหญ่ของชะอำ� เพือ่ ดึงดูดนักท่องเทีย่ วให้เดินทางเข้ามายังชะอำ�ในช่วงนอกฤดูกาลท่อง เทีย่ ว ภายใต้ชอ่ื งาน เทศกาลกินหอย ดูนก ตกหมึก ชะอำ� ซึง่ จัดครัง้ แรกเมือ่ ปี พ.ศ. ๒๕๔๒ โดยไฮไลท์ของงานได้บรรจุกจิ กรรมพานัก ท่องเทีย่ วออกทะเลตกหมึก ถือเป็นครัง้ แรกในเมืองไทย จนได้รบั ความสนใจจากนักท่องเทีย่ วเป็นจำ�นวนมาก และได้จดั ต่อเนือ่ งมาทุก ปีจนเป็นงานเทศกาลท่องเทีย่ วทีไ่ ด้รบั ความสนใจจากคนทัง้ ประเทศ งานเทศกาลกินหอย ดูนก ตกหมึก กำ�หนดจัดขึน้ วันแรกในวันเสาร์ทส่ี องของเดือนกันยายน ซึง่ ในปีนต้ี รงกับวันที่ ๑๒ – ๑๙ กันยายน ๒๕๕๘ รวมระยะเวลาการจัดงาน ๘ วัน มีพธิ เี ปิดงานวันที่ ๑๒ กันยายน ๒๕๕๘ เวลา ๑๙.๐๐ น. โดยมีผวู้ า่ ราชการ จังหวัดเพชรบุรี เป็นประธาน นอกจากนีใ้ นช่วงเทศกาลดังกล่าวยังมีการจัดกิจกรรมการแข่งขันแข่งเรือเร็วชายหาด และการแข่งขันตก ปลาชะอำ�ฟิชชิง่ เกมส์ ในวันที่ ๑๒ กันยายน ๒๕๕๘ ซึง่ เป็นวันเปิดงานอีกด้วย
