Beyond Hua Hin, Mr Isara explained how a unique experience in Thap Sakae district has proved a big hit with Gen Y tourists.

“The ‘sand spa’ in Thap Sakae is very popular, with the community there recently winning a tourism award”.

Unique experiences In travel and tourism they value experiences above anything else, including above visiting ‘postcard’ or more typical must see destinations.

“They are self confident, creative and value experiences to counter their busy work life”, Mr Isara Stapanaseth Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s Prachuap Khiri Khan office told Hua Hin Today.

“Eco tourism, community tourism and activities they can do together with their kids are also important to them”.

“They make trips around food, yoga, massage, sightseeing and nature trails and they like to visit places such as the safari in the national park in Kuiburi or the marine park in Pranburi, for example”.

The ‘sand spa’, thought to be the only one of its kind in Thailand, is run by the Thung Pradu Community Tourism Community Enterprise.

The ‘spa’ sees people buried up to their necks in the sand at Ban Thung Pradu beach for up to 30 minutes, with the large and coarse grains of sand helping to clean the skin.

Millennials are also the first generation of digital natives and they are plugged to their devices 24/7.

They love using technology to make their life easier and smoother - especially when it comes to traveling.

And they are of course eager to post on social media about their travel experiences, such as when they visit the attractions such as the sand spa.

And they are more than willing to pay for those experiences.

“Over 65 percent of Gen Y will share photos of their experiences on social media,” Mr Isara said.

“Gen Y tourists to Hua Hin spend on average 4,350 baht per person per day, while the average length of stay is more than two nights,” Mr Isara said.

“That’s why you see more places like coffee shops now having the areas where people can take photos”.

“They will also spend an extra 2,000 baht on excursions on average”.

Mr Isara explained that TAT Prachuap recently combined people’s love of coffee and social media in a promotional campaign targeting Gen Y tourists.

The ‘coffee-lover’ promotion encouraged people to visit up to 36 local coffee shops, taking and sharing a photo in each location in return for a voucher.

Hua Hin welcomes tour operators from key markets As well as giving an insight into the increasing numbers of Gen Y tourists visiting the city, Mr Isara also revealed how overseas tour operators are looking to bring the next wave of foreign tourists to Hua Hin. At the end of April, tour operators from China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan visited Hua Hin on fact finding missions which sought to promote Hua Hin to tourists in the aforementioned countries.

In the same week, ten agents from Europe and a group made up of tour agents and media from Russia visited Hua Hin for similar visits.

“These are our key overseas markets, especially for wellness tourism”.

RESTAURANTS IN HUA HIN CAN SERVE ALCOHOL UNTIL MIDNIGHT FROM MAY 1

C

ertified restaurants in Hua Hin and Nong Khae can serve alcohol until midnight from May 1, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has announced.

Restaurants which have received the SHA Plus, Covid 2 Plus, or Covid Free Setting standards

certification for upholding safety standards in order help prevent the spread of COVID-19 will be able to serve alcohol to customers until midnight, an increase of one hour from the previous 11pm deadline.

Other night time entertainment venues such as bars, nightclubs and karaoke parlors are to remain closed, CCSA spokesman Taweesilp Visanuyothin confirmed.

However, there remains a major caveat to the rules for bars and nightclubs.

If such venues can be converted to a restaurant (i.e serve food) they can be permitted to serve alcoholic beverages if they receive a safety certificate from the local communicable disease committee.

The news comes as the CCSA also announced a reclassification of provinces in accordance with their COVID-19 situation.

The CCSA said there are now 65 yellow provinces and 12 light blue provinces.

While Prachuap Khiri Khan is a ‘yellow’ province, Hua Hin and Nong Khae districts are classed as special tourism ‘blue’ zones.

The whole of Phetchaburi province (including Cha Am) is also a ‘blue’ zone along with Bangkok, Krabi, Kanchanaburi, Chon Buri, Chiang Mai, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Phangnga and Phuket.

At the time of publishing, there has not yet been a decision on whether other districts in Prachauap Khiri Khan or indeed other sub-districts of Hua Hin will be reclassified to blue zones.

This means that venues in Pranburi, Sam Roi Yot and Thap Sakae, as well as venues located close to Hua Hin in sub districts such as Thap Thai and Nong Plub are unable to serve alcohol.

HUA HIN: IT’S TIME TO PUT THE SLEEPY NARRATIVE TO BED O ver the past month I have read various articles that have described Hua Hin in one form or another as being “sleepy”.

The narrative that Hua Hin is “sleepy” has connotations of the city being boring, uninteresting or that there is nothing to do.

It’s a narrative that I just don’t recognise.

Don’t get me wrong, Hua Hin isn’t, and probably never will be, Miami, Ibiza, Phuket or even Koh Samui.

And the fact it retains its relaxing charm is only a positive.

But the idea of Hua Hin being sleepy or a “sleepy fishing village” as it is still sometimes described was not true when I first visited twelve years ago, it hasn’t been true at any point during the ten years I have lived here and it isn’t true today.

Hua Hin’s ‘sleepy’ narrative is as outdated as it is inaccurate.

The more I engage, connect with and speak to different people, one quickly realises the community here is anything but sleepy.

People of all ages and varying backgrounds, be it expats or Thais, make up what is a really vibrant community.

Since the start of the year I have spoken to property developers, golf course managers, restaurateurs, business owners and public sector officials all of whom tell me the same story - that in all their respective industries they are frequently seeing a change in the demographics of people coming to Hua Hin. There are now more younger people, more families and a broader spectrum of people in general choosing to visit Hua Hin, as well as choosing to make Hua Hin their home.

Data supplied to Hua Hin Today from the Tourism Authority of Thailand confirmed that 40 percent of all the people who visit Hua Hin are aged between 25 and 40 years old (you can read more about it in this issue).

The narrative of Hua Hin being ‘sleepy’ is also in complete contrast with what is planned for the city in both the short and long term.

The ongoing redevelopment of Hua Hin Airport is forecast to bring one million arrivals to the city within three years, which will make Hua Hin anything but sleepy.

As part of the upgrade, the airport will also become a hub for events and offer facilities not only for tourists but Hua Hin locals and expats.

The improvements at Hua Hin Airport coincide with the plans from the Thai government to make Hua Hin an internationally renowned destination for health and wellness tourism.

In the longer term, the Municipality plans to develop Hua Hin into a ‘Smart City’ by harnessing big data and artificial intelligence to improve the technical infrastructure across the city.

There is a massive sea change beginning to happen in Hua Hin and I personally think it is a really exciting time for the city.

Hopefully these changes will help to put the ‘sleepy’ narrative to bed, once and for all.

HUA HIN - KUALA LUMPUR FLIGHTS SET TO RESUME JUNE 1 from Hua Hin Airport.

The airport is currently undergoing a significant expansion both in terms of infrastructure and services.

As part of the ‘Phoenix Plan’ by the Phoenix Group, the airport aims to offer international flights to destinations such as Singapore, Hong Kong, China and the Middle East.

D

irect flights between Hua Hin and Kuala Lumpur are set to resume from June 1, AirAsia has confirmed.

The flights are due to operate every Wednesday, Friday and Sunda The flights will depart Kuala Lumpur at 10:15 local time arriving in Hua Hin at 11:20.

From Hua Hin flights will depart at 11:50 and arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 14:55.

Tickets for the flights can be reserved on the Air Asia website.

The route between Hua Hin and Kuala Lumpur was first launched in 2018 but was temporarily suspended as a result of the travel restrictions in place due to COVID-19.

The news comes following the resumption of AirAsia flights between Hua Hin and Chiang Mai. The flights between Hua Hin and Kuala Lumpur are set to be the first of several to operate

HUA HIN TO INSTALL SMART LAMP POSTS IN NEW TECH DRIVE H

ua Hin Municipality has revealed plans to install multifunctional smart lamp posts throughout the city.

The smart lamp posts, also known as ‘smart poles’, are part of a major technology drive in accordance with the municipality’s Smart City initiative.

The lamp posts are equipped with a variety of sensors and CCTV cameras and will be connected to data networks and 5G. They can also be used to collect air quality, traffic flow and weather data.

According to the municipality, the lamp posts will be first used in strategic areas known as ‘Smart Blocks’. The areas include along Phetkasem Road, on Sois 76 and 88, as well as at other locations in Hua Hin district.

The lamp posts include a smart LED lighting system that adjusts the brightness based on the environment. The brightness and the on/off time of each lamp post can also be controlled from a central command centre.

The lamp post can also be integrated into the city’s CCTV network and will include an alarm system that can alert the public in event of a major incident or emergency.

Each lamp post will also have EV charging capabilities which will not only offer huge convenience to drivers of electric vehicles but also save the municipality money eliminating the need to construct separate EV charging stations.

Built in air sensors will measure the temperature, humidity, noise, wind speed, wind direction, air pressure, and dust levels in the surrounding area.

The lamp posts will also include digital signage that can display data from the various sensors such as the weather and air quality, as well as public transportation information. The signage can also be used as a form of media advertising.

The lamp posts will also offer Wi-Fi connectivity and USB charging.

The lamp posts are part of plans to develop Hua Hin into a ‘smart city’ and will harness big data and artificial intelligence to improve the technical infrastructure across the city.

The initiative will also help to improve safety, quality of living, transportation and sustainability. city’.

Hua Hin isn’t the only city in Thailand which aims to become a ‘smart

To date a total of twenty seven cities including Khon Kaen, Chachoengsao, Phuket, Nakhon Sawan and parts of Chiang Mai have been awarded smart city status.

Eventually the government aims to have 100 smart cities throughout Thailand by 2024.

The development of smart cities is fundamental to the government’s Thailand 4.0 initiative which aims to use technology as a one of several methods to transform the kingdom into a high income nation with greatly improved living standards and quality of life.

One of the key components of the smart city initiative is improving connection among devices, infrastructure, transportation and places through 5G. A smart city will collect data from different types of sensors in order to supply information which will enable assets and resources to be used more efficiently.

Data collected will be used to help manage traffic and transportation systems, power plants, water supply networks, waste management, law enforcement, information systems, libraries, schools, hospitals and other community services.

The Thai government has said smart cities are “a core pillar of the Thailand 4.0 policy that the country is pursuing, as part of its 20-year national development plan. The country aims to boost the digital capacity of its city management ecosystem, while preserving Thailand’s unique social fabric, as well as enhancing the quality of life for urban residents.

Moreover, the plan looks to further encourage locals in the participation of the future development of their city.”

TELL YOUR FRIENDS & FAMILY – IT’S NOW MUCH EASIER TO VISIT THAILAND Travel rules for vaccinated travelers From May 1, fully vaccinated travelers will no longer be required to undergo an RT-PCR test on arrival.

They also no longer need to pre-book a hotel room for their first night’s stay in the country, a move which ends the Test & Go scheme which has been in place since Feb 1.

However, they are still required to register with Thailand Pass in order to submit a copy of their vaccination certificate, as well as proof of COVID-19 insurance with at least $10,000 coverage, which has been reduced from $20,000.

Travelers are only recommended to take a self-ATK test if they show symptoms for COVID-19.

Upon arriving in Thailand, fully vaccinated travelers are free to go anywhere in the kingdom.

Travel rules for non-vaccinated travelers isitors to Thailand who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will no longer need to undergo any testing or quarantine from May 1.

Tourism is a key driver for Thailand’s economy, with the kingdom one of the most popular holiday destinations, not only in Asia, but anywhere in the world.

Unvaccinated travelers will also be exempt from mandatory 5 day hotel quarantine if they can show a negative RT-PCR test result within 72 hours of their departure to Thailand.

In the year before COVID-19, more than 40 million foreign tourists visited Thailand, which in terms of revenue accounted for approximately 12 percent of the country’s gross domestic product.

All visitors, regardless of their vaccination status, are still required to register online with the ‘Thailand Pass’ system (https://tp.consular. go.th/), and provide proof of health insurance with COVID-19 coverage not less than $10,000.

Thailand has seen an upturn in arrivals during the first quarter of 2022.

Authorities hope the move will help to rejuvenate Thailand’s tourism industry, which like many countries, has been left decimated because of the pandemic.

Since February, Thailand had operated the ‘Test & Go’ program which enabled people who were fully vaccinated to enter the country with limited quarantine, of typically less than 24 hours.

People had also been required to undergo an RTPCR test on arrival.

However, from May 1, no testing of any form will be required for fully vaccinated travelers.

“Test & Go will be scrapped and there will be a shift to antigen testing on May 1. This will be more convenient and faster for visitors. Tourism is also starting to recover,’’ Prime Minister Prayut Chano-cha said during the announcement.

“Many countries have already eased their restrictions”, the PM added.

“We are a country that relies on the tourism industry, especially during these times. This will help move the economy forward.”

According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand, 444,039 foreign tourists visited the country between January-March 2022.

While this was an increase of 2,101 percent compared to the same period a year previously, it is a drop in the ocean compared to its pre-pandemic levels, where Thailand would average over 100,000 tourist arrivals per day.

The decision to scrap Test & Go and RT-PCR testing on arrival has been welcomed by the country’s tourism and business sectors.

Sanan Angubolkul, chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce said in making its decision, the government had responded to calls from business operators.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha also said the government will consider launching the “Two Countries, One Destination” in a bid to facilitate travel and promote tourism between Thailand and other countries.

Non vaccinated travelers to Thailand can avoid a mandatory 5 day hotel quarantine if they are able to show proof of a negative RT-PCR test within 72 hours of their departure.

Proof of the negative test result must be uploaded to the Thailand Pass system, along with proof of insurance coverage for COVID-19 of up to $10,000.

They also no longer need to show a negative RT-PCR test result either on arrival in Thailand.

Alternatively, if they are unable to show a negative RT-PCR test within 72 hours of their departure they must undergo 5 day quarantine in a hotel and take an RT-PCR test on day 5 of their stay.

If the test is negative they are free to travel anywhere in Thailand.

Proof of the 5 day hotel booking must be submitted to Thailand Pass prior to departure.

BEACH POLO RETURNS TO HUA HIN

Hua Hin recently played host to Asia’s largest beach polo event.

The Asian Beach Polo Championship was organised in partnership with the B.Grimm Group, the InterContinental Hua Hin Resort, the Proud Group, Bluport Hua Hin and the Equestrian Association of Thailand.

The event took place on Saturday April 9 on the beachfront of the Intercontinental Hua Hin Resort and featured teams from Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia who were competing for the illustrious HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha trophy.

After a hiatus due to the pandemic, this year’s event was the 11th occasion the Asian Beach Polo Championship has been held in Hua Hin and also marked B.Grimm’s 144th anniversary in Thailand.

As always, the Asian Beach Polo Championship had a charitable aspect with all proceeds from the event donated to the Nabha Foundation, a royal initiative under HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati.

The Foundation helps to provide training, assistance and social welfare to the underprivileged throughout Thailand.

Besides the excitement of the polo tournament,

spectators were able to enjoy a variety of activities including a beach themed fashion show on horseback, and a live performance of “Broadway Under Hua Hin Sky” from the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra.

Despite the scorching temperatures, some spectators were dressed to the nines with a varied assortment of glamorous hats and dresses on show.

Presiding over the event was Mr. Suwat Liptapanlop, former deputy prime minister to Thailand, Dr. Harald Link, president B. Grimm and president of the Equestrian Association of Thailand President of the competition and Mr. Sathien Charoenruen, governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan.

The tournament was won by Thailand who took 1st place for the sixth consecutive year. In 2nd place was Hong Kong, followed by Singapore in 3rd.

Hua Hin was chosen as a suitable location because much of the sand on the beach is fine and dense, meaning that when the horses run they do not fall over.

As well as helping to raise money for a worthy cause, the event helped to raise the profile of polo in Thailand and promote tourism in Hua Hin.

Justin Bieber to perform in Bangkok - tickets sell out within hours

ou better Beliebe it - pop superstar Justin Bieber will perform in Bangkok in November.

The 28 year old heartthrob will bring his Justice World Tour to the Thai capital on November 6.

The show will take place at the Rajamangala National Stadium.

Tickets were priced between 2,500 and 16,500 baht per seat but sold out within hours of going on sale on April 29.

In Hua Hin, fans queued at Major Cineplex in both BluPort and Market Village to secure their

tickets.

Further details regarding the concert including any COVID-19 guidelines were not available at the time of going to press.

“We’ve been working hard to create the best show we’ve ever done, and we can’t wait to share it with fans around the world. I’ll see you soon,” Bieber said

in a statement.

Bieber released his latest and sixth album, Justice, in 2021. The album contained global hits such as Peaches and Ghost, and went to No. 1 in countries such as the United States and Britain.

Over the course of his career, Bieber has amassed over 50 billion streams and over 60 million album equivalent sales worldwide.

Justin Bieber’s performance in Bangkok will form the Southeast Asian leg of his world tour which kicks off in Kuala Lumpur on Oct 22, followed by a show in Singapore on Oct 25 and two shows in Jakarta on

Nov 2 and 3.

The date in Bangkok is the latest large-scale event to be announced in Thailand so far this year.

Dance music festival Creamfields will make its Thailand debut at Nong Nooch Tropical Garden in Pattaya in May, while Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Ros will perform at the Maho Rasop Festival in Bangkok in August.

In March it was announced that Liverpool and Manchester United would also play at the Rajamangala National Stadium in July.

Leisure travelers are starting to return to Hua Hin

ua Hin Today recently spoke to Joseph Della Gatta, InterContinental Hua Hin General Manager to discuss a variety of topics including the return of leisure travelers to the resort and Jaras Hua Hin, which was recently named one of the best new restaurants in Asia The loosening of restrictions in Thailand is starting to show signs that leisure travel is returning to Hua Hin, according to the general manager of one of the resort’s leading hotels.

While the people visiting Hua Hin are still predominantly domestic travelers, the resumption of the Test & Go program and subsequent relaxing of entry requirements has seen more tourists visiting Hua Hin. “We are definitely starting to see people traveling for leisure now”, Joseph Della Gatta, General Manager of the InterContinental Hua Hin told Hua Hin Today.

Joseph believes that one of the first areas of the travel industry to bounce back post pandemic will be the leisure market.

“For two years, people have been dreaming about wanting to travel after being stuck at home, they are itching to travel”.

A pet friendly hotel

With the pandemic putting the brakes on international travel, Joseph revealed how the InterContinental Hua Hin has adapted and innovated to provide new offerings to domestic tourists.

“The BluPort wing of the hotel is dog friendly and we recently started dog training sessions every Saturday, which is free for guests”.

Joseph explains that increasingly domestic travelers were wanting to travel with their dogs, with the hotel becoming pet friendly as a way of attracting new guests.

In addition, the InterContinental Hua Hin also continues to grow its food and beverage offerings.

The newly launched Cafe De Khoi located at the InterContinental’s BluPort wing is a pet friendly, French bistro style venue. It offers a stylish, yet cozy interior with a large outdoor seating area

under the shade of an old khoi tree.

For coffee lovers, Cafe De Khoi’s advanced coffee menu comprises four distinct preparation methods : nitro, espresso, slow-bar pour over and ice drip.

Cafe De Khoi also offers a wide range of menu in Asian and Western style from savory bites, all day-breakfast or premium dishes along with freshbaked patisserie and delectable desserts.

And for your four legged friend, there is a special dog menu which even includes doggie ice cream, while puppy bowls ensure that your dog will be properly pampered.

Meanwhile, over on the beach side of the hotel is the InterContinental’s Art Deco-influenced CoCco Bar, which features Thai-inspired food and drink complete with fireside and cabana settings.

CAVIAR FROM HUA HIN: THE LOCAL STURGEON FARM PRODUCING FAMOUS EXOTIC DELICACY

C

aviar, the exotic delicacy known as ‘black gold’ due its exorbitant price tag, is being produced in Hua Hin. The farm, which is the first in Thailand, was set up by Alexey Tyutin six years ago, while his son Alexandr helps to oversee its daily operations Alexey first set up the Thai Sturgeon Farm in Thap Thai in 2016 after importing the sturgeons - hybrids of beluga and amur - from China.

Today, the farm, which is backed by Thai, Russian and American investors, is home to approximately 50 male and 1,500 female sturgeon, with Alexey and Alexandr implementing a more ethical approach to traditional sturgeon farming.

Wild sturgeon, which live on average for around 50 to 60 years, is one of the most endangered species on the planet.

According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature 85 percent of sturgeon species around the world are at risk of extinction, while sixteen varieties of the fish, including the well known beluga, are at critically low numbers.

For context, those numbers are similar to the likes of the black rhino or south China tiger.

In traditional sturgeon farming the fish are killed in order to extract their eggs.

However, Alexey and Alexandr use high-tech harvesting methods that result in the eggs being extracted similar to ‘milking’ rather than the sturgeon being killed.

It helps to make the process more sustainable, which in turn makes it more affordable for the consumer.

Every aspect of the production is monitored by computer from the temperature of the water, to feeding times, while ultrasound is used to determine the sex of the fish. The fish are also microchipped for easy identification.

A world away from the cold waters of the Caspian sea where sturgeon are found in the wild, the fish at the farm in Hua Hin swim in huge tanks where the water is maintained to a temperature of around 22 degrees Celsius.

“We have to cool all the water down we use at the farm as it would be too warm for the fish to survive”, Alexandr told Hua Hin Today.

“We use solar power to help cool the water, but even so our electricity bill is about 300,000 baht per month”.

Despite the challenges of farming sturgeon in a tropical climate, the conditions at the farm actually offer up some benefits.

The warmer waters enable the fish to mature more quickly - after about six years, as opposed to the ten to twelve years it takes sturgeon to mature in colder climates.

Once egg production begins, the fish are moved to tanks in a separate room where the temperature of the water is gradually lowered to around six degrees Celsius.

Unlike shop bought caviar which often contains a lot of additives or preservatives, only salt is added to the caviar produced at the Thai Sturgeon Farm.

“Caviar you can buy in the stores normally has preservatives added, but we add only salt to ours”, Alexandr explained.

The farm supplies numerous leading hotels and five star restaurants through Alexey’s company Caviar House, which is based in Bangkok.

Currently the Thai Sturgeon Farm can produce around 1.5 tonnes of caviar per year, all of which is sold in Thailand.

In the future the farm hopes to explore opportunities to export their caviar to other countries.

NETFLIX SET TO CRACKDOWN ON PASSWORD SHARING

Last year, Netflix subtly tried to crackdown on password sharing when it introduced two-step authentication for accounts. The move prevented people from accessing accounts who were not permitted to do so.

The popular streaming service has announced it is testing new features that would charge people if it detects multiple logins from the same account.

However, this latest move is the company’s strictest crackdown on the practice to date.

The new features are being trialed in Chile, Costa Rica and Peru. However, it is unclear if or when it will be rolled out in other countries.

The two features being trialed include the option to “add an extra member” which allows Netflix subscribers to add another user to their account for a lower fee than signing up for a new subscription.

Netflix’s subscriber growth has slowed dramatically in the past year after a surge in subscriptions during lockdown petered out.

The streaming giant suffered an 85% downturn in new subscribers in the second quarter of 2021, adding just 1.5 million paying members globally, compared to 10.1 million subscriber additions during the same period a year earlier.

APPLE FIXES BATTERY-DRAIN ISSUE AFFECTING IPHONES AND IPADS Apple has said the issue should now be fixed with the release of iOS 15.4.1 and iPadOS 15.4.1.

"The update includes the following bug fixes for your iPhone: battery may drain more quickly than expected after updating to iOS 15.4," Apple said in the release notes.

The issue was reported by users who installed iOS 15.4 or iPadOS 15.4 earlier this year.

The updates included notable new features, such as the ability to unlock your iPhone while wearing a mask and a host of new emojis.

However, users complained that their device’s battery was draining much faster than before the update was installed.

Users often experience the battery on their devices draining more quickly due to all the indexing and calibrating that goes on in the background whenever a new update is installed.

However, battery performance typically returns to normal within a day or so.

The fact that Apple has issued an update, and acknowledged the issue in its release notes, suggests that the battery drain was caused by a bug in the code.

hailand has banned all single use plastics and styrofoam packaging in all of its 155 national parks throughout the country.

The announcement was published in the Royal Thai Government Gazette on 5 April, 2022, with the ban effective from 6 April, 2022.

In 2020, Thailand outlawed the sale of single use plastic bags at malls and supermarkets, convenience stores.

However, plastic bags are still handed out by street vendors, markets and small retailers.

Prior to the ban on plastic bags being used by major retailers, the Pollution Control Department said that 45 billion plastic bags were used in Thailand each year.

Thais on average used 8 plastic bags per day before the ban was introduced in 2020.

By 2027, the Thai government wants only 100% recyclable plastic to be used in the country.

Being a massive hypocrite when it comes to limiting my daughter’s screen time

I

am, for the most part, a technophile.

While I never lay claim to being an expert, I like to think I have a good understanding of smartphones and social media.

I always embrace new technologies as early as I can. I’m one of those people who installs the latest iOS update the moment it is available.

I’m excited and interested to see how things like electric vehicles, artificial intelligence and other smart technologies will shape the future.

I welcome new technology and the positive advancements it has on our daily lives. And while it isn’t all good, I believe the positives always outweigh the negatives.

As a parent, I have always welcomed my daughter using gadgets.

I marveled at how from an early age she seemed fairly accomplished at using a tablet.

She pretty much knew how to watch her favorite videos on YouTube before she could talk.

Technology: A parent’s friend or foe?

At nine years old she is now an excellent English speaker, which in part has been helped by her ability to find and watch English language videos on YouTube from such a young age.

Her apparent immediate instinct to technology and gadgets made the whole online learning process relatively easy too.

Just recently she started editing videos - making her own videos from scratch, adding effects, a soundtrack, different fades etc. And they’re surprisingly good. For a nine year old.

But all that glitters is not gold and you can definitely have too much of a good thing.

This is especially true when it comes to how much time my daughter spends on her tablet or laptop.

It’s a constant battle to try and limit her screen time.

Between online classes, school holidays, Roblox, Discord, YouTube and now video editing, she spends more time than ever in front of a screen.

In many ways the pandemic and her having to study online was the perfect storm.

It meant that she spent all day in front of the computer for ‘school’ but then after 4pm she would then spend her usual couple of hours playing games online. It meant she could easily spend nine or ten hours per day in front of a screen.

I can already hear you saying that as her dad it is my job to limit her screen time, and for the most part I do, but it’s not always that straightforward.

During weekends, I make sure she takes part in as many ‘offline’ activities as she can - music, football etc.

But I am also conscious of the example I set to my daughter when it comes to screen time.

As part of my job I spend a lot of time in front of my computer or on my phone.

When the tablet becomes the babysitter So while on one hand telling my daughter about the importance of spending less time in front of a screen, I’m also a massive hypocrite because I am forever on a device.

And while my daughter may not know the meaning of the word hypocrite, even as a nine year old, the idea isn’t completely lost on her. She knows.

Often when we go out for dinner, or if we are with friends, I’ll let her use the tablet at the table so the grown ups can chat. The tablet becomes the temporary babysitter.

Sound familiar?

If you’re a parent, you’re probably a hypocrite too when it comes to your children’s screen time.

We set the worst example (and I put myself at the front of that particular queue).

You, like me, probably perpetually reach for your phone to check the latest work email, message, social media update or football scores.

It’s almost second nature and we often do it without realizing Indeed, maybe the focus should not only be on our children. I suspect we’d all benefit, both physically and physiologically from a little less screen time.

If I can tell my daughter it’s time to stop, why on earth can’t I say the same to myself?

e are now in the HOT SEASON with temperatures reaching the high thirties most days. The course is much dryer with the roll on the fairways much longer than normal. This is good for the players who hit a low ball flight!!! The greens are very fast but true and generally the course is in great condition.

Majestic is so strategically placed at the foot of the mountains dividing Thailand and Myanmar so that any rain that falls on the mountains makes its way down to our course through dozens of small streams to our 30 plus reservoirs and lakes, which are linked together throughout the courses. Because of this, in all the 25plus years that the course has been open we have never been short of water. After the heavy rains earlier this year we are assured that this year will be no exception to the water supply being more than sufficient for the foreseeable future.

The Weekly Competition is attracting more players with members returning from their own countries and more guests taking part.

We also have a number of new members who have joined the competition and we would like to say welcome to these new players.

The competition is played each Thursday on Courses A and B, which as already mentioned is in very good condition. THAI FOOTBALL FANS SNAP UP 25,000 THB TICKETS FOR MAN UTD V LIVERPOOL MATCH IN BANGKOK

T

he majority of tickets for the Manchester United v Liverpool game, which is due to take place in Bangkok in July, sold out within hours of going on sale.

Most of the tickets had sold out in less than two hours after going on sale on Saturday morning (April 2), according to match organiser Fresh Air Festival.

Tickets were available across seven different price points, with prices ranging from 5,000 to 25,000 baht.

Amazingly, the tickets priced at 25,000 baht were the first to sell out, while the three cheapest tickets have also sold out.

“Tickets went on sale at 10am today (April 2) via the Thai Ticket Major website. After two hours the priciest tickets for Platinum seats closest to the pitch were all sold out,” said Vinij Lertratanachai, CEO of match organiser Fresh Air Festival.

“The three cheapest ticket categories priced 5,000 baht, 7,000 baht and 12,000 baht are all sold out too. These seats are either far away from the pitch or located behind the goals at either end.”

At the time of publishing, only some tickets remain in the 15,000, 20,000 and 22,000 baht categories.

There had been some criticism regarding the price of tickets for the game.

Some local fans had said the tickets, which cost more than tickets for the Champions League final and considerably more than the price of a ticket to watch Manchester United or Liverpool at either Old Trafford or Anfield, were too expensive.

The fixture, which is to be held under the banner ‘The Match: Bangkok Century Cup 2022’ will take place at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok on July 12. Kick off is at 8pm.

Both teams have said they will send full strength squads to compete in the game.

The game will be the first time Manchester United will have played in Thailand since 2013, while Liverpool last visited in 2015.

A statement from United on the club’s official website reads: “Tour 2022 will see Manchester United travelling to Bangkok, Thailand, and Melbourne, Australia, with more exciting fixtures to come.

“To kick things off, United will face rivals Liverpool in an unmissable game on 12 July at the Rajamangala Stadium in Thailand’s capital as the club visits the city for the first time since 2013.

“The squad will then fly to Australia for United’s first visit to Melbourne since 1999. Fans will be able to see the Reds play at the famed Melbourne Cricket Ground against local A-League team Melbourne Victory on July 15th, and against Premier League rivals Crystal Palace on July 19th.”

hailand’s teenage golf sensation Ratchanon Chantananuwat became the youngest ever winner of a major golf tournament following his victory at the Asian Mixed Cup on Sunday (April 10).

Fifteen year old Ratchanon, nicknamed TK, sealed his win with a birdie on the final day to claim the US$750,000 Trust Golf Asian Mixed Cup. Speaking after his victory, Ratchanon said: “I am very excited, but I felt a lot of pressure”.

“I have got to be honest, I got pretty lucky, I had hit two or three terrible drives.

“I saw that [Joohyung Kim eagled 18] and was not surprised, he pulls off that stuff all the time. It put pressure on me, but I tried not to look at it too much. I definitely have a lot of people to thank.”

Ratchanon fired a seven-under-par 65 to finish on 20 under to beat Korean Kim Joo-Hyung by two shots with rounds of 63, 70, 70 and 65 at Siam Country Club’s Waterside Course in Chonburi.

The final proved to be one of the most captivating finishes to an Asian Tour event, with several players in contention on the back nine.

However, it was Ratchanon, who pulled ahead of the chasing pack when he birdied 14 and 15 to earn a three shot lead.

At 15 years and 37 days, Ratchanon improved upon the previous best youngest winner mark set by Japan’s Ryo Ishikawa, who was 15 years and eight months when won the Japan Tour’s 2007 Munsingwear Open KSB Cup.

Despite his victory, the rising star, who studies at Shrewsbury International School in Bangkok, has no plans to turn professional just yet.

“This has been my plan all along. I enjoy going to college and learning everything. I have talked to a lot of players, and they have all said go to college, Ratchanon said.

“I got a ton of exams, it’s building up because it’s almost June and I also have the SEA Games coming up. It’s not a big, big tournament, but it’s not just for me anymore, this is for the country, and I don’t want to disappoint.

“I am doing two IGCSE subjects early, biology and economics, so that’s also in May two days before I fly, so I have to do extra schoolwork and extra golf so it’s probably the hardest time for me to balance the two right now. If I want to win, I need to practice more,” he added.

BLACK MOUNTAIN GOLF CLUB CELEBRATES TH 15 ANNIVERSARY

lack Mountain Golf Club in Hua Hin officially celebrated its 15th anniversary on 20 April.

After opening in 2007, Black Mountain is today recognised as not only one of the best courses in Thailand but also in Asia.

One of the key things with Black Mountain is that from day 1 the ownership side have been willing to invest and identify areas in the golf course that could be improved. We are always striving to do better and find new ways to improve - not only the golf course but the whole area.

In 2018, it was named by Golf Digest as the 59th best course in the world, making it the first course in Thailand to receive such an accolade.

The willingness from the investors has alway been there, 100 percent. It’s a cliche but you can not just stay the same, this is especially true with golf courses, so we always find ways to improve.

Black Mountain has also hosted numerous major tour events, including the European Tour and Asian Tour and in March played host to the inaugural International Series Thailand event.

We actually made a lot of investment during COVID on minor and major changes to the course.

We carried out lots of expensive work to redo all the bunkers, which is very good for playability.

With golf the primary focus, the community at Black Mountain continues to grow.

In a broader sense the golfing community here has really developed too, especially over the last five years. There is a real community feeling and spirit here now, we have many more member tournaments and there is much more interaction between the members and the club.

The site now home to a variety of pool and course side villas, twin houses, four story houses, townhouses and condominiums, as well as a water park which opened in 2011 and the Hua Hin International School which opened in 2016.

Who was the course designed by and how long did it take to construct and develop?

The original course design was built in just 15 months, but Black Mountain’s success is largely down to its philosophy of continual improvement, meaning that over the years, just about every hole has changed, making the course more playable and enjoyable for the everyday recreational golfer and at the same time, more challenging for the pro golfer.

What have been some of the major changes to the course/club over the past 15 years?

There is also a much broader spectrum of people buying properties here too, many of whom are drawn to us by the community that has developed here.

What are some of the standout memories you have of the club of the past 15 years?

There are so many memories that stand out, but a few would be: Hosting the Black Mountain Masters, the first big Asian Tour event to come to Black Mountain in 2009. Then later twice hosting the European Tour in 2015 & 2016.

Being placed No. 59 in Golf Digest’s World Top 100 Golf rankings was also a proud moment for the whole team here, who work so hard to make Black Mountain Thailand’s premiere golfing destination.

But Black Mountain is not all about championship golf, some of the best memories relate to the incredible community of wonderful golfers that we have built up over the years.

What can members and non-members look forward to at Black Mountain in 2022 and beyond?

Black Mountain is always evolving and changing and the future here is always exciting. For example,

we have a new executive chef starting soon, bringing new dishes for everyone to be able to try.

We have just successfully hosted the Asian Tour ’s inaugural USD$1.5m International Series event. With events in the series being held all around the world, we are looking forward to the Thailand leg being a recurring annual Black Mountain event.

Who are some of the most famous/celebrated players to have played at Black Mountain?

We have had many high profile tour players at Black Mountain over the years. Basically most of the European and Asian Tour players.

Interesting stories are being written by the young Thai stars.

Jazz Janewattananond grew up and honed his skills at Black Mountain, and went on to become an international superstar. Also now regularly playing here we have the incredible 15 yr old “TK” who is destined for great things.

We regularly host the Thai LPGA and have had the pleasure of watching the formidable Ariya and Moriya Jutanugarn sisters, plus the incredible 19 yr old Atthaya Thitikul.

It is going to be very exciting watching these home-grown players in the coming months and years.

COLORING THE SKY KITE FESTIVAL IN CHA AM PROVES A HIT WITH VISITORS

housands of kite enthusiasts and visitors descended on Cha Am beach to enjoy the Coloring the Sky kite festival.

The festival, which was held on the northside of the beach between 22-24 April, was organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand with the aim of boosting tourism and the local economy.

Scores of kites of all shapes and sizes including birds, crabs, goldfish and spiders were flying in the sky, which made for the perfect photo opportunity for attendees.

Many photos from the event were shared across English and Thai language Facebook groups.

The festival also featured kite races, stunt performances and an aerial display to music, while the kids zone gave youngsters an opportunity to design their own kites.

Kathrin Fagersson, a resident of Hua Hin who attended the event with her family, said: “We thought the event was so much fun!”

“It was well organised with lots of effort behind it.

“There were good activities, shows and a nice selection of local food and drinks.

“We stayed for a lot longer than expected and the whole family really enjoyed it!”

Wayne Davis, who also lives in Hua Hin, said:

“It is great to see events happening again, moving away from Covid into the future”.

“Lots of smiling (under the mask) people”, he added.

“I really enjoyed it. It made me feel like I was 12 years old again!, said Punyisa Chalauysophon.

“I also felt safe at the event as they checked our proof of vaccination before we entered and there were lots of announcements both in English and Thai.

“The event was really fun, relaxing, and there were lots of good food stalls also”, Punyisa said.

he Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched a new promotional campaign aimed at foreign tourists and expats.

The ‘Experience Amazing New Chapters’ campaign will offer expats and tourists special packages and discounted rates at hotels, restaurants and spas, as well as on tours and activities.

The deals are on offer at all of Thailand’s key tourist destinations, including Bangkok, Chon Buri, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Surat Thani, Krabi, Phang-nga, Phuket, and Chiang Mai As well as discounted rates and deals, those participating in the campaign can also enter to win 100,000 baht worth of accommodation at a luxury resort in Thailand.

The ‘Experience Amazing New Chapters’ campaign will run until August 2022.

The campaign is being run in partnership with the Tourism Council of Thailand, tourism associations and Advanced Info Service (AIS) and includes SHA Plus-certified and SHA Extra Plus-certified venues.

According to the campaign website, there are a number of local restaurants in Hua Hin and elsewhere

INSPIRING STUDENTS SHARE THEIR BIG IDEAS DURING TEDX EVENT AT STAMFORD UNIVERSITY Students were asked to audition via video before the applicants were whittled down to 30, who were then invited to take part in a four week public speaking workshop, where the final six speakers were chosen.

by Stamford Dance Club before speakers shared a variety of philosophical stories and ideas on a range of topics which included fear and regret.

tamford International University hosted the TEDx STIUHuaHin event at its Hua Hin Campus on April 8.

The event welcomed five student speakers, Jameena Ratanaphithayaporn, Aonkanya Chaimun, Ketsarin Jianpruthiwet, Ryzzelle Snow C. Berco and Staryu Jarurangsripattanakul along with local broadcaster Richard Buckle from Surf 102.5, who shared informative and powerful stories and ideas with the audience.

Cell Dilon Executive Director Stamford International University Hua Hin-Cha-Am Campus who organised the event and was master of ceremonies on the day explained that over 500 students from across Thailand had applied to take part.

Seventeen year old studentAonkanya Chaimun, who throughout her talk displayed maturity well beyond her years, delivered an insightful and relatable speech on the importance of overcoming a fear of failure and living a life without regrets.

Ms. Aonkanya, a high school student from Kanarat Bamrung Pathum Thani School and winner of the Stamford International University public speaking contest, told the audience that even in the event of failure, there is “no downside, only progress”.

The event was the second time Stamford’s Hua Hin campus has organised a TEDx event, with the first taking place virtually on 22 Jan 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions.

TEDx is a spin off of the popular TED talks,

which started 26 years ago as a conference for professionals involved in Technology, Entertainment and Design. All of the talks are available online, some of which have been viewed millions of times.

According to the TEDx website, “the TEDx Program is designed to help communities, organizations and individuals to spark conversation and connection through local TED-like experiences.”

n exciting new event which showcases three local and up and coming food producers will be held in Hua Hin at the end of May. The Culinary Special will take place at Jacky’s Garden on May 29 from noon to 6pm and is being held as part of a collaboration between local food producers Jacky’s Garden, Sky’s Pasta and Salmon House 102.

The event will feature a demonstration of the making of the fresh pasta from Sky’s Pasta and let guests into some of the secrets and techniques used in the preparation process of the smoked salmon from Salmon House 102.

The idea of the event is to showcase what goes into creating the delicious homemade products that are available from each producer.

Each producer will also highlight the quality of each product, the vast majority of which is sourced from other local producers and using organic ingredients.

The event came to be after Jacky’s Garden, Sky’s Pasta and Salmon House 102 began working together on different products and dishes.

The trio have now formed a small cooperative where they work together using one another's products and ingredients so they can all benefit.

“We are not in competition, we are actually enhancing our products by working together”, the team behind Salmon House 102 told Hua Hin Today.

Currently Salmon House and Sky’s Pasta have

collaborated on a ravioli dish which uses Sky’s freshly made pasta, while the team at Salmon House created the filling and sauce.

HIDDEN GEM: EAT, SHOP AND CHILL OUT AT THE HUAY SAI ROYAL DEVELOPMENT STUDY CENTRE On sale are cloth bags, hats, tie-dye fabrics, baskets, woven fans, umbrellas, clothes, handicrafts and an assortment of other items, which are perfect for gifts or to use yourself - all of which are very reasonably priced.

The main building includes the vocational training centre and restaurant, which despite its small menu is a real gem.

The restaurant offers everyday favourite Thai dishes such as pad thai and pad kaprao from less than 30 baht.

When we visited, we picked up pad kaprao gai for 25 baht, pad thai for 28 baht and stir-fried beef tenderloin with sauce over rice for just 30 baht.

For dessert we had a fresh ice cream made from organic cow’s milk from Cha-am-Huay Sai Dairy Cooperative for only 10 baht.

And despite the affordable prices, the portion sizes and quality of each dish was very good.

t’s always nice to discover new places and even better if you don’t have to travel very far to find them.

While Hua Hin’s beaches, world glass golf courses, water parks and great seafood restaurants are well publicized, there are also plenty of hidden gems that can be found just a short drive away.

The restaurant forms part of the vocational training centre, which teaches locals cooking skills as part of career development.

Located on the northbound side of the bypass road in Cha Am is the Huay Sai Royal Development Study Centre.

The Huay Sai Royal Development Study Center came to be following a visit to the Huay Sai area from His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej in 1983.

The centre has undergone somewhat of a makeover recently which has seen the construction of a new area for visitors, which includes a cafe, restaurant and shops selling organic produce and handcrafted local goods.

Huay Sai was once a lush woodland area which is home to an array of wildlife. In fact, the name in Thai means ‘creek of gazelles’.

The cafe, or rather the Huay Sai Coffee Bar, is open daily from 9am to 5pm and serves a variety of coffees, drinks and snacks. It has an indoor air conditioned cafeteria, as well as an outside seating area which offers breeze even during the hot weather.

And every Wednesday through Sunday from 11am to 1pm there is live music in the form of a violinist or pianist, which creates a nice atmosphere for diners.

However, over a period of 40 years the area had been almost devastated due to agricultural use.

The aim was for the centre to become a "Living Nature Museum" that the general public could study and visit, and which they can then apply their learnings in their own communities.

Between November 20, 2019 and November 20, 2021, the Department of Tourism Ministry of Tourism and Sports awarded Huay Sai Royal Development Study Centre the Agritourism Standards Excellent level certification.

For people in Hua Hin and the surrounding area, or those travelling northbound along the Cha-Am bypass, the centre is well worth a visit.

GROWING GREEN COMMUNITIES: SUSTAINABLE MARKET HELPS THE UNDERPRIVILEGED IN HUA HIN invites children from underprivileged communities in the area to take part in activities such as Boran muay Thai and art workshops.

new farmer’s market where the focus is on sustainability is helping to raise donations for underprivileged communities in Prachuap Khiri Khan and Phetchaburi.

The Growing Green Communities charity event will take place on Sunday May 8 at the Amara Garden Resort on Soi 94.

The event, which is being organised by the Sang Foundation, features organic produce from local farmers, handmade crafts and a dog and cat adoption service.

There is also live music and a delicious buffet dinner for 500 baht per person.

During the pandemic the Sang Foundation provided food and other essentials to people in Pranburi, Hua Hin and Cha Am. “In total we made over 60,000 donations in one and half years but then I started to realised that this was not a good solution”, Mutsumi Adachi, founder of the Sang Foundation, told Hua Hin Today.

Mutsumi explained how the money went to buy goods from supermarkets and high street stores which would then be handed out as donations.

“Everytime we bought the goods, we were giving so much money to the big corporations”.

Mutsumi said all the goods they were handing out as donations was also generating so much plastic waste.

The donations also resulted in some social issues which Mutsumi had not expected.

“Some of the people became dependent on our donations which meant they did not need to return to work”.

The Sang Foundation then worked with Scholars of Sustenance which collects leftover food from hotels and restaurants to donate to the communities.

It wasn’t until recently that Mutsumi had the idea of an altogether more sustainable approach to food donations in Hua Hin.

“I didn't want to buy food from the big corporations to be used for donations, so that is when I had the idea of buying produce from local farmers.

“I then thought that if I can organise an event where everyone is under the same roof, we can build a community where everyone can help each other”.

Mutsumi explained how she invites the people from the communities she is helping to attend the event “We give the kids healthy food and drinks, toys, clothes and second hand books. At the last event we had almost 200 children and parents from underprivileged communities attended”.

Mutsumi said the psychology behind inviting those who are receiving the donations to the event is to make them feel respected and part of the wider community, rather than only seeing themselves as people who rely on donations.

Mutsumi plans for Growing Green Communities to become a monthly event.

The Sang Foundation is looking for volunteers who can help set up the event, help on the day or collect donations.

สภากาชาดไที่ย ดำาเนินการเพ่�อมื่นุษยธรรมื่ ต้ามื่ห็ลั​ักการกาชาดสากลัแลัะเป็นองค์การสาธารณ กุศลัระดับชาต้ิคู่สังคมื่ไที่ยมื่าอย่างยาวนาน ถุ่อ กำาเนิดขึ้​้�นในรัต้นโกสินที่รศก 112 ขึ้ณะนั�นได้เกิด กรณี พิ พ าที่ระห็ว่ า งสยามื่กั บ ฝรั� ง เศส เร่� อ งดิ น แดนฝั� ง ซ้ า ยขึ้องแมื่​่ นำ�า โขึ้ง ห็ร่ อ ที่ี� เ รี ย กกั น ว่ า “วิกฤต้การณ์ ร.ศ.112” เห็ตุ้การณ์ที่วีความื่รุนแรง จนเกิดการสู้รบแลัะส่งผลัให็้มื่ีที่ห็ารบาดเจ็บลั้มื่ ต้ายจำานวนมื่าก แต้่ไมื่​่มื่ีองค์กรการกุศลัใดๆ ให็้ ความื่ช่วยเห็ลั่อแลัะให็้การรักษาพยาบาลัที่ห็ารที่ี� บาดเจ็บเห็ลั่านั�น ที่​่านผู้ห็ญิงเปลัี�ยน ภาสกรวงศ์ จ้งได้ชักชวนแลัะรวบรวมื่สต้รีอาสาสมื่ัคร เรี�ยไร ทีุ่นที่รัพย์ จัดต้ั�งสภาอุณาโลัมื่แดง เพ่�อจัดซ่�อยา สิ�งขึ้องที่ี�ควรแก่การพยาบาลัที่ห็ารแลัะประชาชน ที่ี�ได้รับบาดเจ็บ ต้่อมื่าเมื่​่�อความื่ที่ราบฝ่าลัะออง ธุ ลัี พ ระบาที่พระบาที่สมื่เด็ จ พระจุ ลั จอมื่เกลั้ า เจ้ า อยู่ ห็ั ว ได้ พระราชที่านพระบรมื่ราชานุญาต้ให็้จดั ต้ัง� “สภาอุณาโลัมื่แดงแห็่ง ชาต้ิสยามื่” ขึ้​้�น ในวันที่ี� 26 เมื่ษายน ร.ศ.112 ห็ร่อพุที่ธศักราช 2436 ซ้�งถุ่อเป็นวันสถุาปนาสภากาชาดไที่ย ภายห็ลั​ังช่�อ “สภา อุณาโลัมื่แดงแห็่งชาต้ิสยามื่” ได้เปลัีย� นช่อ� เป็น “สภากาชาดสยามื่” ในปี 2449 ในปี 2461 มื่ีการออกพระราชบัญญัต้ิว่าด้วยสภากาชาด สยามื่ มื่ีวต้ั ถุ​ุประสงค์เพ่อ� ช่วยรักษาพยาบาลัผูป้ ว่ ยไขึ้​้แลัะบาดเจ็บ ในสงครามื่แลัะยามื่สงบ กับที่ั�งที่ำาการบรรเที่าทีุ่กขึ้์ในเห็ตุ้การณ์ สาธารณภัยพินาศ โดยไมื่​่เลั่อกเช่อ� ชาต้ิ สัญชาต้ิ ลั​ัที่ธิ ศาสนา ห็ร่อ ความื่เห็​็นในที่างการเมื่​่องขึ้องผูป้ ระสบภัย ย้ดห็ลั​ักมื่นุษยธรรมื่เป็น ที่ีต้� งั� แลัะต้่อมื่าในปีพ.ศ. 2463 ได้ออกพระราชบัญญัต้วิ า่ ด้วยสภา กาชาดสยามื่แก้ไขึ้เพิมื่� เต้ิมื่จัดระเบียบสภากาชาดสยามื่เป็นสมื่าคมื่ อิสระ ยังผลัให็้คณะกรรมื่การกาชาดระห็ว่างประเที่ศรับรองสภา กาชาดสยามื่ เมื่​่�อวันที่ี� 27 พฤษภาคมื่ พ.ศ. 2463 แลัะสันนิบาต้ สภากาชาดมื่ีมื่ต้ิรับสภากาชาดสยามื่เป็นสมื่าชิกเมื่​่�อปีพ.ศ. 2464 ต้่อมื่าสภากาชาดสยามื่เปลัี�ยนช่�อเป็น สภากาชาดไที่ย เมื่​่�อปีพ.ศ.
