For this year’s edition, the team at Human Resources Online has spent the few past months compiling a list of HR solution providers that HR leaders have worked with and attested to. In the process, an esteemed jury of 23 senior regional heads of HR judged and scored the finalists’ profiles, based on a holistic judging criteria. These included facts on their performance, milestones, achievements, challenges, and solutions, to help the judges score each entry. After the rounds of judging, scores obtained from the judges led us to identifying gold, silver, and bronze winners across the categories, along with a list of finalists. This year, a total of 116 finalists

Looking into HR’s crystal ball As we close this year, the HRO team identifies what developments are likely to go beyond trends to change the face of the workplace.

Flexible working will no longer be a benefit but an entitlement. We expect to see a paradigm shift where work will play a less central role in people’s lives. It’s not the future of work but the future of life.

At HRO, our editorial team is passionate about the progression of the HR function, and we’re constantly engaged in conversations with CHROs around the region on what shape they see HR taking in 2022 in beyond. To round off an unpredictable yet exciting year, we’ve distilled our learnings around three main areas which we see going beyond ‘trends’ to really change the face of work, workforce, and workplace as we know it. Wellness to thrive, not just survive Come 2022, we believe organisations will need to double down on their efforts in wellness, specifically financial, emotional, physical, and mental wellness. Given that wellness means different things to different people, most organisations will look to take a broader approach than ever before, yet find ways to make these efforts personalised. Line managers will continue to be the number one line of contact in rolling out wellness initiatives, be it interventions to manage stressful workloads or leading by example in supporting work-life harmony. However, a recent survey across 25 countries found that more than half of all managers find it hard to identify when staff may be struggling with mental health issues (53%) or overwork and burnout (51%). Organisations that don’t take wellness, especially mental health seriously, will risk losing their best talent in favour of employers who recognise and tackle wellness red flags proactively.

In a business-as-usual environment, HR is a trusted partner to the business but, in a pandemic, we are leading the fight.” Today, her words continue to ring loud and true — as HR plays the most important role in understanding workforce needs. Every single touchpoint in the employee experience journey will need to be relooked to suit this new norm. Employers who shy away from embracing new ways of working – be it the hybrid workplace, flexible working arrangements, or simply, empathetic, open and transparent communication – are likely to face the toughest impact of ‘The Great Resignation’, in our view. Technology is and will be central to the employee experience, but more importantly, experience will manifest in a number of new and unexpected ways – think, frequent and informal catchups between managers and employees, outcome-based approach over face-time or hours spent over the laptop, and more.
