5 WATER SAFETY GUIDELINES

Along the entire West Coast, you are close to the sea and the beach, and a refreshing swim in the sea during or after a long day of cycling can be very tempting. In general, you can swim anywhere along the entire coastline but make sure to always check the local conditions before your swim.

During the summer period from the end of June to the middle of August, lifeguards from Tryg Foundation will be present on selected beaches. These beaches are marked on the maps in this guide.

Always adhere to the 5 water safety guidelines tips that tell you what to be aware of whilst on the beach. The 5 water safety guidelines are like traffic regulations on the beach and most drowning accidents happen because one or more of these tips were not adhered to.

1. Learn to swim 2. Never bathe alone 3. Learn to read the wind and water conditions 4. Familiarise yourself with the beach 5. Don’t loose sight of children

These water safety guidelines have been published by Tryg Foundation and the Danish Swimming Federation in cooperation with international lifesaving organisations.
