A Message from the Resort Manager This year changes in the overall look and feel of the resort has been our focus at Hyatt Beach House, a Hyatt Residence Club Resort. We are excited to use the momentum gained in 2016 to propel us into another successful year. In 2017 we plan to invigorate with upgrades and enhancements. To learn more about what we have been working on and what we have in store, please check out the “Resort News” section. For now, I would like to thank our team for their hard work and spread a little sunshine on the people who make our resort so very special. Our Front Desk team is the face of the resort who, among many other things, work tirelessly to accommodate room requests and coordinate service requests. Our Concierges are the ambassadors to the island and regardless of how long you have been visiting us, they can always find something new for you to experience. Our Food and Beverage team down at Jimmy’s Ocean Blue Tiki Bar, who have the best office on the island,
they can to make sure our owners and guests have a flawless, fun and safe vacation. We encourage them to show their unique personalities and have fun while they are here. After all, this is Key West. If you are not having fun, you are not doing it right!

Board Update Greetings Hyatt Beach House Owners!
My name is Doris Ast. I am the newest Owner Representative at the Beach House Condominium Association of Key West, Inc. Board of Directors. My husband Bob and I love Hyatt Residence Club and have been owners since 2003, when we first purchased a week at Hyatt Windward Pointe. In the fall of 2004, I was elected to the Board of Directors at Hyatt Windward Pointe, where I served as President for seven years and served on the board until 2012. We purchased our week at Hyatt Beach House in 2008 and I served on the Hyatt Beach House Board of Directors from 2009 through 2012. In addition to our two Key West weeks, we are also owners at Hyatt Hacienda del Mar in Puerto Rico. Bob and I are retired and live on one of the 10,000 lakes in Minnesota. We have two married daughters and five grandsons.
I appreciate serving on the Hyatt Beach House Board of Directors, and want you all to know we are working hard to save our owners money on their maintenance fees, while continuing to ensure our resort meets Hyatt standards of excellence. We will continue to work closely with our Resort Manager Derek Nelson and his team, who continue to do an excellent job. Currently, we at Hyatt Beach House are in the process of remodeling the kitchens and replacing the balcony and living room furniture. We hope you are enjoying the recent renovations, the fresh new look in the kitchens, balconies and living rooms. Our hope is that your stays at Hyatt Beach House continue to be a comfortable, relaxing and welcome respite from your everyday lives. Thank you all for being Hyatt Beach House owners.

Julie Our spotlight focuses on a familiar face here at the Hyatt Beach House, Front Office Manager Julie Betz. Julie and her husband Frank recently welcomed a new addition to their family, Frank Junior. Because he was born in Key West, Frank Jr. is considered a “Conch,” while Julie and Frank Sr., having lived in Key West at least seven years, are “Fresh Water Conchs.” Julie and Frank also have two “puppies,” brother and sister shepherd/lab mixes, Thor and Freya. Julie loves Key West and the Florida Keys for its laid back and friendly vibe. She also enjoys boating and snorkeling, which she does around one of her favorite spots, Bahia Honda State Park in Big Pine Key. Something you may not know about Julie is that she is a diehard Florida Gators fan. She will readily tell you that while she was attending the University of Florida, the school raised four National Championship trophies: two in basketball and two in football. The next time you see Julie, please congratulate her on her little one and thank her for the dedication and hard work. She is a big part of why our owners and guests love coming to the Hyatt Beach House!

“Wrinkles only go where the smiles have been.” —Jimmy Buffet Hyatt Beach House has undoubtedly been the source of countless smiles throughout the years, so it is only natural that some “wrinkles” have been showing up. 2016 has done more than its fair share of smoothing out those wrinkles, through a range of enhancements and alterations. Our balcony exteriors have, quite literally, gotten a facelift this year. We have raised the posts and ground floor balconies and refitted them with new stainless steel hangers and brackets, while also getting the posts further above the flood plain level and reinforcing each with concrete. We will complete the exterior balcony project, continuing to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors in 2017. In addition, we will be painting the building exteriors in 2017, which is sure to help the resort look younger and more attractive.

Even with all of these changes, Hyatt Beach House is still recognizable as the fun, coastal Key West resort that our owners and guests fell in love with. Our spirit has and always will stem from staying true to our uncommon island origins. We try to capture that essence in everything we do, and we hope you will agree, that our wrinkles aren’t a bad thing when they come from the smiles we have shared over the years.
Our 2016 kitchen remodel project began this past summer and included all new kitchen cabinet hardware, a new dining table and chairs, pendant light, new kitchen countertops, sinks, faucets, a custom-made hutch, new window treatments and new artwork. With the addition of the new kitchen appliances, completed last year, the kitchen/dining space has really come together nicely. Also this year, the living rooms got some attention with a new sofa, coffee table, end tables and lounge chairs. With the interiors of the rooms given their appropriate augmentations, we decided to give our balcony wrinkles a little love too. Following suit, the balconies received
