A Message from the Resort Manager Summer is upon us, and we are all very excited about the progress that has been made since our last newsletter communication. We have also been through our very active Spring Break and Easter holiday’s since the last Destination newsletter. It was an interesting experience for me, as it was my first here on property since arriving last June. We have worked hard to stay ahead of the business and preventatively plan for owner’s and guest’s expectations. We have gone through our department’s daily checklists and operations to ensure all areas of the property are well accounted for, and that we continued to ensure the experiences that Hyatt Siesta Key, a Hyatt Residence Club Resort, has become well known for. In doing so, we have also looked for efficiencies to assist our staff in doing the best job possible. Throughout your stays with us, please keep us informed of your needs, desires and suggestions! It is you who we learn best from, and of course we want to exceed expectations, regarding your ownership interest. As noted in the first issue of the 2016 Destination newsletter, I have been working diligently with your
Board to review the upcoming plans and replacement schedule of reserve projects for this year and beyond. We are excited to get these plans into motion and for you to experience these upgrades in future stays in residence. I am proud to announce our nominees for the employee of the quarter, which comes from internal voting by the staff. The following nominees have shown dedication and support to all on the team, and of course our owners and guests. When you are in-house with us on your next stay, please congratulate these individuals on their hard work and contributions to this beautiful property. • Travis Brenes – Engineering • Mike Leniart – Valet • Greg Gregory – Beach • Anthony Mason – Engineering • Joseph St. Jusma – Housekeeping Please enjoy this edition of your Hyatt Siesta Key Beach newsletter. We have included important area information and fun photos of our Easter celebrations. As always, feel free to reach out to me, or our Front Desk staff, with any questions you may have. We look forward to your next visit to your slice of paradise, Hyatt Siesta key Beach.

Hyatt Siesta Key Beach
Board Update
Hello Everyone, My wife, Elaine, and I just returned home after four beautiful weeks at the property. One rainy day out of 28 with weather consistently in the 80s, and our good fortune to be at the best property on the key, made for a great stay. It certainly was fun to see many familiar faces; meet fellow owners and make new friends as well. It was heartening to see the respect everyone showed for the property, along with the courtesy all showed to the staff and management team. During our stay, I had several face-to-face meetings with JP, our Resort Manager, to discuss issues and goings on. We are going to begin some needed reserve fund projects including replacement of mattresses and soft goods in our units for example. Along with the bedding changes we will likely convert the “den” in the premium units to a real bedroom, and one of the “study/ den” rooms in the deluxe units to a bedroom as well!
Great news for those we have asked to sleep on the sofa bed in the past. We will also consider installing a water conditioner to prolong the life of our plumbing system, save money on repairs and enhance the guest experience. Other projects include replacement of our pool/beach umbrellas and porch fans. In summary. I must say that the team is doing an outstanding job of keeping the property in a condition that represents what we bought. In conversations with fellow owners, they felt the same way and the issues they raised were minimal and easily addressed. Hats off to the Hyatt Siesta Key Beach team, and please thank them personally. Al Deering Owners Representative, SKI Board of Directors Phone: +1 231.690.2353 hardwarel@t-one.net

OWNER SPOTLIGHT Even though we love Hyatt Siesta Key, we have ventured and used our Hyatt Residence Club points. We have been to Hyatt Beach House in Key West and had a great week exploring. This coming February, we plan to go to Hyatt Coconut Plantation in Bonita Springs, as we have heard nothing but good things. We hope to travel over the coming years to other properties that Hyatt Residence Club offers!
The Faicco Family We first came to Hyatt Siesta Key Beach for vacation in 2010 and immediately fell in love. Our experience was so exceptional that we became fractional owners of weeks 26 and 27 that same year. Our family never gets tired of vacationing at our home property. The beach is absolutely beautiful and the gulf is perfect for our kids because of the calm waters and white sand that never burns your feet. We purchased these weeks because we love spending the Fourth of July on Siesta Key. The fireworks are beautiful, and with the events surrounding the holiday, it’s a special time. We find it amazing that the beach is spotless the next day after festivities enjoyed by all. Throughout our ownership, we have made many friends with other owners and look forward to seeing them on each and every visit! The facilities and location are obviously second to none, but the heart of the experience is definitely the staff at Hyatt Siesta Key Beach. They could not be any better, and I would score them 100%! They are polite, professional, courteous, helpful and, most importantly, friendly. The only regret we have about our ownership is not being able to spend more time enjoying the property.

Certificate of Excellence
Turtle Season
In 2016, Hyatt Siesta Key Beach was awarded its sixth consecutive Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor for consistently earning great reviews from travelers like you. For more information on Hyatt Siesta Key Beach on TripAdvisor, or if you would like to share some of your favorite memories with us in a review, please visit www.tripadvisor.com and search for Hyatt Siesta Key Beach.
MAY 1 – OCTOBER 31 Turtle Season is here, and we are excited to hopefully have new “residents” checking in to the best property on Siesta Key! Sea turtle season is from May 1 to October 31, and Hyatt Siesta Key Beach is an active participant in the protection of these magnificent creatures. Marine biologists and local code enforcement officers have presented specific regulations we all can follow to protect the sea turtles habitats in keeping hatchlings from becoming disorientated. Once sea turtles have hatched their primary inclination is to seek water for their survival. Instinctively they seek the light of the moon to guide them to the water. Lighting from buildings and/ or beach obstructions such as beach chairs, umbrellas and cabanas can disorient them. Hyatt Siesta Key Beach resort always has been turtle friendly and in compliance with state lighting codes. We have been highly successful in adhering to these codes. It has been recorded that approximately 40% of new sea turtles nest in Sarasota and Manatee counties each year. Please help us in this coordinated effort to preserve this wonderful species. Literature is posted throughout the property, including the residences themselves to best educate everyone on this important season.

Vacationing News
History of Sand When it comes to white, powdery sand, nothing compares to the beaches at Siesta Key, Florida. In fact, in the Great International Sand Challenge held in 1987, Siesta Key’s Crescent Beach was rated “The World’s Finest, Whitest Sand,” beating out more than 30 other entries, including the Bahamas and Grand Cayman. It is clean, it is dazzling white and it feels like confectioners’ sugar. Why? It is the quartz. A study of Siesta Key beach sand by Harvard University’s geology department found that the sand was 99% pure quartz grains ultimately derived from the southern Appalachian Mountains. Over millenniums, rivers carried sand grains into the Gulf and down Florida’s coast. Those quartz grains are very fine, without any coral or shell fragments, which results in sand with soft, flourlike texture. Quartz sand comes from igneous rock, the kind of rock that once was molten. Quartz is a very hard substance, graded at seven on a hardness scale of 10. Diamonds are rated 10 on this scale. Minerals of a hardness of seven cannot be scratched with the point of a steel knife. The most common such substance is granite. The fine sand has passed through one or more “eollian cycles” as the geologists put it. Those are periods when it was blown about by the wind. Such cycles tend to knock the sharp corners off the quartz grains and help bring about the somewhat angular nature of our sand.
TripAdvisor has announced their
2016 Certificate of Excellence winners A “Certificate of Excellence” is awarded to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travelers. Thirteen of our properties were recognized: • Hyatt Beach House • Hyatt Coconut Plantation • Hyatt Grand Aspen • Hyatt Highlands Inn • Hyatt Ka’anapali Beach • Hyatt Main Street Station • Hyatt Mountain Lodge
Sand is pretty shifty stuff. No beach is static—all sand moves up and down the coastline because of wind, storms and ocean currents. The shifting dune is a common phenomenon in sandy areas. If the sand is eroding in one place, then it is building up somewhere else. Prevailing winds roll the surface sand from the bottom of the windward side of the dune over the top and down the leeward side, so that, in time, the entire dune may be rolled for miles.
• Hyatt Piñon Pointe
So now you know why Siesta Key sand is ranked tops in the world. It feels soft and cool on your bare feet, even in the strongest Florida sun, and that means great beach walking. Sculptors love it too, because it packs down firm and smooth, which makes for awesome sand sculptures at our beach contests. Courtesy of Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce
This is a very exciting honor for our resorts to receive and we would like to extend our appreciation to our members and guests for sharing their vacation experiences.
