Ashleigh and I decided to take a trip to Ironbridge, prompted by the exciting news that it had undergone a transformation into a Smoke and Taphouse, a welcome addition to the current selection of wonderful eateries in this beautiful town. Having heard great things about the changes that have been made we were very excited to go along and sample the food. As we walked in to the traditional bar we were warmly welcomed by a gentleman at the bar and placed our order, I decided to go for a lager shandy and Ashleigh opted for a coke. We were shown to our table and were very pleasantly surprised.

The restaurant area had a cosy feel to it with the addition of some quirky features like corrugated metal walls, rustic wood and interesting pieces on the wall. The menu has a plethora of dishes available from the traditional to the brand new smoke selection. For our starter we decided to try the sharing nachos heaped with pulled pork, the tortilla chips topped with mozzarella cheddar and jalapenos with lashings of sour cream, guacamole and smoky tomato salsa. Impressed with the quality of the starter, we were looking forward to the next instalment. I have to say they were the best nachos we’ve had to date. The tortilla chips were perfectly crunchy and the melted cheese crowned it gloriously, putting some of the nachos we had previously in the shade and I loved the way they were served in a metal mess tin - a perfect start. Onto our main courses, which was the hardest choice we had to make with so much choice we could have tried everything on the menu quite easily. Ashleigh opting for the Rib and Chicken Combo; half a rack of ribs and a quarter chicken served with fries, and I decided to go for one of the BBQ tray options - The Smoke & Trap Tray; Beef brisket, pulled pork, BBQ chicken wings, smoked sausage, BBQ pit beans and corn on the cob served with fries. Ashleigh’s main again came served in a mess tin; the ribs were to die for, with a very tasty coating, the meat just falling from the bone perfectly. The chicken

After a little pause, to allow some room dessert, we decided to delve into the menu one last time for the finale. I went for the Rocky Road Brownie served with vanilla ice cream and marshmallows once again in the quirky mess tin, the brownie was soft and rich in flavour and the rocky road topping made this the perfect pudding that I would happily have again. Ashleigh went for a Brownie Sundae which was served in a mug. It had brownie pieces at the bottom and chocolate and vanilla ice cream layers with a wafer to finish, she loves a good sundae so this was the perfect end to an excellent meal. Overall we had a great evening and would recommend it without doubt, next time you visit Ironbridge don’t forget to drop in and say hello, the restaurant is open 7 days a week and the staff will go out of their way to make you feel very welcome.

was the perfect partner to the ribs, juicy and flavoursome and the fries rounding this into a fantastic dish. I was absolutely delighted with my main there was so much meat and a pleasant variation of flavours offered by this dish. The beef brisket and pulled pork were so tender it just melted in my mouth. I still had the BBQ chicken wings and smoked sausage to devour, the smoked sausage was bursting with flavour and well textured and the chicken wings, which I always love getting stuck into, were succulent and juicy – overall two amazing main courses. The service matched the quality of the food, all of the staff were all very friendly and everything being served looked fantastic.

in the heart of the Ironbridge Gorge... On a beautiful sunny Wednesday evening, we decided to have dinner out as a family, and where better to go than the Brewery Inn in Coalport. On arrival, I could see the premises has been brought right up to date with brand new modern signs, lighting and a fresh new look whilst still keeping the charm that comes hand in hand with an establishment that has been in business for 160 years, nearly 40 of them with the current family. I felt excited to see the transformation inside made by Fiona Hotchkiss and the team. On entering we could smell the aroma of home cooked food and we were greeted with a very warm and friendly welcome by Fiona. I could see that the pub was freshly decorated and all the seats reupholstered it was lovely and fresh with lots of historical memorabilia around the room.

There is an extensive range of drinks including their own house Ale Brewery Gold which is a must for any ale enthusiast. We were given the menu and seated at our table surrounded by a number of families and couples all enjoying generous portions making it hard for me to decide what to choose. Gazing over the menu the selection was fantastic, from homemade lasagne, famous ham egg, chips and salad, curry, burgers, gammon and 16oz steak. There is also a daily specials board which on this occasion included broccoli and cream cheese bake which looked inviting. The Brewery is also well known for their full English breakfasts, what better way to start a day than with a traditional breakfast in a traditional setting? For smaller appetites there are other breakfast options available.

I opted for the Breaded Scampi, 16 juicy pieces with chips & salad, my partner chose the 16oz Rump Steak served with mushrooms, onion rings, peas, chips & salad. My daughter went for the Fresh Prawns with chips and cucumber as she is not keen on the Marie-rose sauce Fiona was happy to accommodate to her needs and serve them plain. As we waited for our meals to arrive we took a walk onto the enclosed patio terrace which has been completely transformed and where dogs are welcome all year round. With idyllic views, I could just imagine myself sitting our here on a glorious summers day, taking in the stunning views of the River Severn to enjoy a nice refreshing drink or have a meal alfresco. The
On to the 16oz rump steak, cooked to perfection, medium rare, melted in the mouth and every morsel was delightful served with chunky chips, salad, peas, mushrooms and onion rings- I’ve never seen my partner so quiet! The fresh prawns were soon all eaten by my daughter along with the chips and salad. She soon ran off to the children’s area to draw with the other children. I noticed how The Brewery is such a family orientated, child friendly establishment which also offers baby changing facilities and is breast feeding friendly. So overall so far, delightful food, fantastic attentive friendly staff and a lovely dining atmosphere - we were really enjoying our dining experience here.
So after a little break on to the puds, again a lovely array of choice from mixed ice-cream with cream & wafers to traditional apple pie & custard. I opted for hot chocolate fudge cake with ice-cream, it was absolutely gorgeous the mixture of hot and cold tantalised the taste buds –I was in chocolate heaven. My partner chose hot sticky toffee sponge and ice-cream judging by the smile on his face I could see he was thoroughly enjoying his pudding. As my daughter was enjoying playing with the toys and drawing Fiona very kindly offered her an ice-cream from the freezer to her delight. They have a large selection of icecreams to choose from or for that hot and sunny day from Magnums and Cornettos to more child friendly options.
The Brewery are huge supporters of local charities holding regular events to raise funds for causes close to their heart. Regular charity bingo, quiz and Clairvoyant evenings are held through the year. Take a look at their facebook page for up and coming events and offers.
An absolutely fantastic dining experience here at The Brewery Inn, 5 stars to Fiona and her team for fantastic service and food. Highly recommended by The Hype team, we will most certainly be returning in the not so distant future to enjoy the generous portions, beautiful home-cooked food, in this lovely welcoming -family orientated, child friendly pub.

Walking back from the terrace we noticed the tables were getting full, lots of families and couples alike enjoying the food here. The food had arrived and my goodness- talk about good value for money. The generous portions that The Brewery are famous for truly did not disappoint. The scampi was lovely and the chips were cooked to perfection, the crunchy fresh salad complimented it so well. Local produce is supplied fresh everyday by Moore’s A&B Fruits,Madeley.

As well as walking around the petting farm set in the beautiful Shropshire countryside, you can buy a cup of animal food and feed the animals including rare breeds sheep, Kune Kune Pigs, Dexter Cattle, Fallow Deer, goats, rabbits, Rheas, guinea pigs, chickens and ducks. Scotty’s Donkey’s is a privately-owned family run business and has grown yearly with the addition of many new animals and attractions. We also have a school/nursery/home-education trip package with our newly refurbished Party & Education room providing the ideal place to bring the classroom to the farm, we also offer a party package providing the perfect setting for your birthday celebrations. We can also bring donkeys to you for any event from nativity services to school fetes and charity events. Welcome to Wellington
Having recently moved into our new office in Wellington, we decided to take a closer look at the diverse and interesting array of businesses and services available in and around the town. Over-looked by the Wrekin, this town is full of small independent shops, cafes, pubs and a thriving, bustling market which has been established since 1244. Wellington is a wonderful place to visit, rich in culture and history and well connected with a railway station, bus terminal, and free car parking.
Artisan Events for Wellington Town Centre
Vintage, collectibles, arts, crafts and more are on their way to Wellington as new monthly Artisan Markets which were launched in the town on Saturday 22nd April.
A joint venture with Wellington Market and Wellington Town Council, the Artisan Markets will be held in Market Square and each one will have a different theme. The first one was held on Saturday April 22nd and as it fell between the Queen’s Birthday and St George’s Day it was based on ‘The Best of British’ theme. Shoppers enjoyed entertainment and competitions including ‘Best Dressed British Dog’ and a fabulous Penny Farthing Bike riding display! Food will be a key element at these markets with an array of street food, homemade cakes, local pork pies and Shropshire
Brews alongside a range of artisan stalls which will include Teen Market Stands providing the young entrepreneurs of Wellington with the opportunity to showcase their work.
Fay Easton, event manager said “It’s a joy working in the heart of Wellington and meeting so many people who yearn for the regained glory of this market town. These events have been designed to entertain and bring street life to the town centre while providing an interesting shopping array for visitors and locals alike. We want to restore the glory to this historic market town and build on the long heritage of ‘markets’ and artisan independent trades.”

Fridge Comics was started due to my interest in geek culture and the need to provide a hub for the burgeoning community in Telford that required a place for people to go to without travelling to Shrewsbury, Wolverhampton or further afield. At first we started local events with comic books and graphic novels which quickly expanded into unique board games and collectable figures including Pop Vinyls. Since moving into Wellington Indoor Market we have provided a place for people to meet and talk about their interests, experience new and emerging board and card games, smaller known comic books and have an ability to request items on demand. We also hold regular events including International Table Top Day at the end of April and Free Comic Book Day in May and October respectively with others being organised shortly. Currently we are in the process of opening a second store in the Telford Town Centre area near The Thomas Botfield so that we can reach out to other members of the community that cannot make it to Wellington which will allow us more longer opening hours. The RAF Cosford Air Show, taking place on Sunday 11th June 2017, is one of the UK’s premier aviation events and the Royal Air Force’s only official Air Show. The 2017 event will be bigger and better than ever before with multiple hangars of interactive exhibits, an extensive array of military ground displays and an eclectic mix of aircraft displays! The six-hour flying display will include an exciting mix of military and civilian aircraft from the UK and overseas, performing spectacular aerial displays. Highlights of the flying display show already confirmed include; the world’s only airworthy Westland Whirlwind helicopter, mock airfield attack from a pair of BAC Strikemasters and the rare appearance of the Swiss Air Force PC7 display team.
This year the RAF Cosford Air Show has an operational theme of ‘Battlefield Support’ which will showcase the role of airpower, past and present, in supporting military personnel on the ground during times of conflict. As part of this theme the flying display will feature an exciting set piece featuring Skyraider, Bird Dog, Huey and Loach accompanied by spectacular pyrotechnics.
Another theme being represented at this year’s show is ‘Space’. With a hangar dedicated to the subject and displaying the advancements in space technology not only in the United Kingdom but throughout the world. The Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths Hangar will once again be a focal point of the showground. Discover how

Spring Festival Gives More, More, More...
This year’s Ludlow Spring Festival promises to be a real corker bringing together the very best regional beer, food, music, plus gorgeous classic cars in the form of the Marches Transport Festival.
This is a beer festival and so much more, with 200 plus glorious real ales from more than 60 local brewers available to taste over the weekend. For those not so keen on beer, don’t worry there will also be ciders, perry, fruit flavoured liqueurs and local wines. There will also be plenty of artisan producers too, so don’t wait till the September Festival to stock up on your favourite products.
In this year’s Chefs Kitchen area you can try your hand at Perfect Sticky, Spicy Buffalo Wings, Curry Chow and Braaing, South African style. There will also be coffee masterclasses with award winning barista, Danielle (Hadley) from Danielle’s Coffee.

As always the beer and food are accompanied by a wealth of great music from jazz and blues to Latin and folk, as well as The Marches Transport Festival. This year’s Ludlow Spring Festival runs 13-14 May, however; there is a special preview evening on Friday 12 May when visitors can ‘Meet the Brewer’. It’s a unique opportunity to talk to brewers about their beers and sample the full selection.
With prizes handed out early in the weekend, favourites sell out quickly so the Friday preview is an opportunity not to be missed.

BEEF STEAKS Let’s face it, it is pretty hard to beat a good steak when it comes to summer eating - from thick juicy fillet steaks to a good old slab of rump. These barbecued steaks are easy-peasy and super tasty and they are ready in just 20 minutes!

7 Tablespoons Butter 4 To 6 Cloves Garlic, Minced 2kg (4 Lb) Beef Steaks (Fillet, Sirloin or Rump - whichever you prefer) Salt And Freshly Ground Black Pepper To Season to Taste Mixed Salad Leaves

Preheat barbecue for high heat.
In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat with garlic. Set aside.
Season both sides of each steak with salt and pepper.
Barbecue steaks 4 to 5 minutes per side, or to desired doneness. When cooked, transfer to a serving board and slice into strips.
Brush twith a little garlic butter, and allow to rest for 2 to 3 minutes before serving.
Served with a mixed leaf salad and small dish of garlic butter. For an extra special treat crumble some blue cheese (Stilton works great) through the salad.

Shortcrust Pastry (Ready Made is just fine, or you can make your own from scratch) For the Filling: 500ml Full Fat Milk 2 Vanilla Pods, Seeds Removed And Pods Retained 6 Free-Range Egg Yolks 120g Caster Sugar 50g Plain Flour Mixed Berries, Strawberries (halved or quartered), Raspberries, Bluberries, Redcurrants and Mint to garnish.

- For this I am using ready made shortcrust pasrty cases (available in most supermarkets either already baked or in a roll ready to cut) but you could make your own if you like. - For the filling, place the milk, vanilla seeds and pods into a large saucepan and warm though. Place the eggs, sugar and flour in a large mixing bowl and whisk until the colour changes and becomes pale. Gradually add the warm milk and vanilla to the egg mixture, whisk together, then return the mixture to the pan. Cook on a low heat until it the mixture thickens, then pour into a clean bowl. Place a circle of greaseproof paper on the mixture, to stop a skin forming. - Fill the pastry cases with the cooled filling by either spooning it in or piping (using a piping bag) then add your chosen berries and garnish with a sprig of mint.

Who we are and the services we offer...
The mobile vet service is offered by Severn Edge Veterinary Group to its registered and new clients. It is staffed by a qualified vet and a nursing assistant who are available 9am till 3pm Monday to Friday.
We carry the necessary equipment and medication to enable us to provide a veterinary consultation in the comfort of your own home. The service we offer ranges from routine vaccinations and nail clips to blood sampling and euthanasia. The cost of a home visit under the Mobile Vet Service Zone Scheme is only £10 and any medication or service fees are exactly the same as when your pet is treated at any of our branches.

How to book a mobile vet visit?
Just phone 01746 713 914 and leave us a message with yours and your pet’s details. We will aim to get back to you within 24hrs. Alternatively, contact your local branch. Please allow 48hrs notice for your Mobile Vet appointment. We endeavour to arrange your visit when it suits you best, so we ask if you would prefer us to see your pet in the morning (9-12) or afternoon (12-3) at the time of booking. We then contact you on the day of the visit to provide you with a more specific time if possible. Please have a collar and lead available for your dog, and please restrict your cat to a safe small room. We look forward to hearing from you!

On occasions we may recommend a pet is best seen at a local branch or a more urgent home visit is necessary. Now in its fifth year, Shrewsbury Food Festival is going from strength to strength. TV chef Sally Bee, who cooks for ITV's Lorraine; Nathan Eades from Simpsons and Stephane Borie from The Checkers; plus Shropshire stars Chris Burt from The Peach Tree and Karl Martin from Old Downton Lodge, are amongst those who will bring their culinary skills to the Wenlock Spring Chef Demonstration Stage. Learn new skills Shrewsbury Food Festival encourages everyone to get involved - no matter what
their age or experience - and learn something new, from rolling sushi, to roasting ingredients over an open fire. The FBC Mamby Bowdler Cookery School will run throughout the festival weekend and focuses on making dishes that are quick and easy, so everyone will leave with an increased recipe range, not to mention some extra knife skills. New for 2017 Shropshire’s biggest festival is getting even bigger. Never one for standing still, this year sees some exciting developments such as a new craft area - which will be filled with potters, glass blowers, artists, and photographers- plus an opportunity for the more adventurous to learn bushcraft skills. Foraging anyone?
Fun for all the family Beth Heath, festival co-founder, is not called the Director of Fun for nothing. There is a huge array of entertainment, such as live music performances from bands, choirs and singers on The Buttermarket stage providing the perfect opportunity to sit down, have a drink and soak up the festival vibes. Katie’s Kids Kitchen will be offering classes to a range of young budding chefs. And, if cooking is not quite to their taste, the huge children’s area will keep them occupied for hours. It is full of free activities such as the climbing wall, a creative area, a “Have a Go” music tent - plus an onsite crèche, allowing parents to have some uninterrupted shopping time!
Lunch Trail Just as London is celebrating its own Food Month throughout June, so too is Shrewsbury. The town has far too much talent to showcase over one weekend, so around 30 restaurants in Shrewsbury will take part in the Monks Estate Agents Lunch Club. Lunch is offered for £5, encouraging people try somewhere new. This runs throughout June and is the perfect festival appetiser.
Value for money Tickets for the festival are extremely reasonably priced to ensure everyone can come and join in with the fun. Adult tickets are £7, while children gain entry for £2 and family tickets are £15. All activities and entertainment within the festival are included within the ticket price. Everyone is advised to arrive hungry.
What's more, each year, the festival donates money to a local school to build a garden and the festival is inviting applications from schools again this year.

New report assesses impact of physical inactivity on UK heart health and economy cardiovascular health and risk of early death.

Take on the MyMarathon challenge More than 20million UK adults are classified as physically inactive increasing their risk of heart disease and costing the UK health service as much as £1.2billion each year according to our new report. The Physical Inactivity and Sedentary Behaviour Report represents the most up-to-date analysis of UK adults and their level of inactivity – one of the most significant national health crises threatening people’s cardiovascular health today.
What the report shows
The report shows that more than 20million adults in the UK are failing to meet Government guidelines for physical activity, and that women are 36% more likely to be considered physically inactive than men. Statistics show the regions in England where people are most physically inactive, with the North West coming out worst as almost half of the adult population – 2.7million adults– are insufficiently active. Evidence is growing that also shows a sedentary lifestyle, regardless of how physically active you are, is associated with poor health. Our estimates show that the average man in the UK spends a fifth of their lifetime sitting - the equivalent of 78 days each year. For women this is around 74 days a year.
Inactivity and heart health
More than 5 million deaths worldwide are attributed to physical inactivity. In the UK alone it causes one in ten premature deaths from coronary heart disease, and one in six deaths overall. Evidence shows keeping physically active can reduce the risk of heart and circulatory disease by as much as 35% and risk of early death by as much as 30%.

The winning bidder will be among the first customers in the world to take delivery of the highly coveted new vehicle. New York remains the world?s biggest Range Rover market.
Proceeds from the gala will benefit the East Side House Settlement, a non-profit organisation providing education and social services in the Bronx and north Manhattan.
