EDITORIAL
Dear readers! Motivation is a complicated thing. Some complain that they have too little and can’t motivate themselves to quit smoking, complete their tax return, or to finally start a regular exercise regime. But there’s also the opposite extreme: Others are suddenly totally over-motivated and go jogging like crazy after years of immobility. Or they decide to lose the dreaded kilos by going on a crash diet. All this is just to get closer to the dream figure. These habits are not sustainable because the body can’t cope with excess exercise, or sometimes the cravings for sweets and fast food become uncontrollable. In our lead article on page six you will learn more about the phenomenon of “overtraining” – and how the gentle HYPOXI-Method® offers the solution to it. Many have become personal advocates of the HYPOXI-Method®, for example Nadja from Bayreuth. Read on page 12 why she is smiling again when she looks at herself in the mirror. I wish you a highly motivated and active year. Enjoy our new edition of “design your body”.

on your feet They take us where we want to go, and they carry our weight our entire life: our feet. We only stop taking them for granted when they are complaining. Until then, we work out every other part of our body and give it the best care possible – and forget all about the fact that our feet also deserve a special training program.
Here are four exercises that you can do anytime to achieve fit feet: Dry running Sit down on a chair. Roll your right foot slowly up to its toes, and at the same time roll your left foot onto its heel. Roll both feet over from heel to toes. Repeat the movement 40 times. Caterpillar walk Sit down on the floor, with your knees bent in front of you. Support yourself on your hands behind your back. Slowly crawl your toes forward until your legs are stretched out in front of you. Make sure that you’re bending and stretching your toes. Repeat this exercise up to 15 times. If you start to feel tingling or discomfort, take a break. Foot drawing Sit down on the floor. Hold a pen between your big toe and second toe, and hold down a piece of paper with your other foot. Then try to write your first name and surname. Then try with the other foot. Relaxation Gently massage your metatarsal bones by stroking them from the ankle to the toes with your thumb. Sit down on a chair and bend your toes back and forth.

Train smarter –

f you push yourself so hard when you exercise that you can hardly stand afterwards, you may be risking your health and your goals. The same applies to weight loss. Extreme, short-term changes to your eating habits, or eating nothing at all, will mainly have one effect: yo-yoing. Because as soon as the diet is stopped, your body stores the newly supplied food even more effectively, assuming that there will surely be another ‘famine’. The result: you quickly regain the weight, sometimes even more than you lost. A vicious cycle. Gentle body shaping

Do you want to tackle those fat stores head-on? Then you don’t have to go to extremes like excessive exercise or crash diets. The idea of the HYPOXI-Method® is: less is more. It starts with the duration of the training sessions. “A once off work out session over several hours is much less effective than several shorter 30-minute sessions per week.“ explains HYPOXI® head coach Gabriela Baumann. “It makes perfect sense: if you go over the top exercising, you invariably have to take a break at some point, which will set your training back.” A little stiffness

pedal on a stationary bike or walk on a treadmill (not run), you start to burn fat. The rest is done by alternating positive pressure and vacuum that targets the stubborn fat on legs, buttocks, stomach and hips. The alternating pressure increases circulation in these areas, which assists the body to target surplus fat. A pleasant side effect is the strengthening of the connective tissue through the combination of vacuum and compression.
Exercise? Yes, but gently and sensibly.
Gabriela Baumann explains the concept: “The skin is gently pulled outward and then pressed inward. The result: a beautifully toned and tighter look.” HYPOXI® has developed specialised training equipment that targets specific problem areas of the body. Everything but dieting
As mentioned earlier: With HYPOXI® you can forget about starvation diets. Your HYPOXI®-Coach will instead give you valuable tips for a balanced nutrition that you should follow before, after and during the training sessions. This will help you achieve even better results with the targeted figure shaping method (see table). he benefits of compression treatments have been known for thousands of years. In Ancient Egypt, the goddess Isis was worshipped for her healing powers and her knowledge of the therapeutic effect of compression. Legend has it that she revived her husband Osiris by bandaging him. Today, compression therapy is a basic treatment for venous conditions and for lymphedemas or lipo-oedemas. The effectiveness depends on a number of factors, as not all compression stockings are made equal!
If compression stockings make you think of hospital beds or retirement homes, you’re no longer up to date. HYPOXI® has established a partnership with medi, the world’s leading manufacturer of compression stockings, to be able to offer you a dynamic duo.

Round-knit for veins
If you’re on your feet all day, you’ll know that they can feel weak and tired in the evening and may even become swollen. The problem often lies with the veins. They are responsible for carrying the blood back from the legs to the heart. Standing or sitting for extended periods of time negatively impacts venous function and the blood sinks and accumulates in the legs. As a result the veins can literally wear out. This can lead to swollen legs, spider veins or varicose veins.
HYPOXI-METHOD ®
a perfect pa ir Round-knit compression stockings effectively support venous function. Thanks to the compression, the venous diameter is reduced, the valves function better and the blood is more quickly returned to the heart. After only one day the legs feel lighter and more relaxed. A bonus of the compression: it not only supports the legs, but also gently gives them a beautiful shape. Flat-knit for oedema
Flat-knit compression stocking are exclusively custom made. When used for the treatment of oedema, these stockings prevent fluid accumulation in tissues, for instance in the case of lymphoedemas. That way, flat-knit compression stockings provide as much mobility and quality of life as possible. Regardless of whether they are round-knit or flat-knit, it is important that they are comfortable to wear in addition to being functional. People have to like wearing them. High quality materials and innovative knitting techniques are as much a natural part of medi compression stockings as is a wide selection of fashionable and classic colours. Selected models offer stylish patterns and decorative details to ensure the desired style can be achieved, even for medical compression stockings.
Perfect combination with HYPOXI® The HYPOXI-Method® is also a very effective treatment for cellulite and saddlebags. The focus lies on supporting
heavy swollen legs weighted down with lymph fluid, firming saggy connective tissue, and the targeted breakdown of stubborn fatty deposits. The cooperation with medi has led to a pleasant synergistic effect: “If you wear compression stocking on the HYPOXI®-free days, you support veins and the lymphatic system, and prevent fluid retention and heavy legs,” explains HYPOXI® master coach Gabriele Baumann. “We are pleased to have found a modern and competent business partner in medi, who offers an extensive range of stylish designs that are not only good for you, but also look great.” Recently, the HYPOXI®-Studio in Bayreuth has become the first location in Germany to sell the lifestyle stockings range “mJ-1” by medi. Existing HYPOXI® clients are already excited. For years, the Bayreuth based company medi has offered products and technologies that improve people‘s quality of life. They include medical accessories in the areas of phlebology, lymphology, orthopaedics, podiatry and prosthetics. Over 60 years of experience in compression technology has also shaped medi’s products in the sport and fashion sector. or many women, there is nothing better than becoming a mum. However, pregnancy is a real challenge for the body. Whereas most women initially lose weight at the beginning of their pregnancy due to changes in their metabolism, in the following months the scales continually climb upwards. Many are surprised at the weight gain, considering that according to the ultrasound the unborn baby only weighs a few hundred grams. However, it’s not only the baby that adds to the weight, but also the enlarged uterus, the placenta and the amniotic fluid. The hope that all the weight is lost at once post birth is usually not fulfilled, as unfortunately large amounts of interstitial fluid, milk and small fat stores remain for quite some time.

“If only I had known about this earlier!”
For Nadja C. from Bayreuth, the dream to become a mother was fulfilled twice – on the same day. Seven years ago she become a proud mother of twins. However, what followed was a battle of the bulge which was to last for several years. Now she is finally pleased again when she looks at herself in the mirror. This is the story of how the 36-year old successfully regained a healthy, slim figure with HYPOXI®. 2013

“After my pregnancy with the twins, I had an omentum implantation, which according to the doctors would make it very difficult if not impossible for me to lose weight. However, I still tried many diets – unsuccessfully, diet pills, reducing portion sizes, counting calories etc., but gave up with them in the end. When I entered the HYPOXI®-Studio for the first time, weighing in at over 80 kg, I was more than sceptical. However, after the first six treatments I had already lost 20 cm in total across eight measurement sites. Another three months on I had lost a total of 85 cm, and 10.2 kg. Incredible! And all that without suffering and without hunger. Instead, I enjoyed the pleasant environment and the familiar atmosphere of the HYPOXI®-Studio in Bayreuth during the training.”
“This was four months ago, and I can certainly say that the HYPOXIMethod® achieves ongoing results. There’s no yo-yo effect – quite the opposite. I kept losing weight even after the HYPOXI® treatments, without dieting and without exercise, which I simply have too little time for as a mother. I just followed the nutritional guidelines of my HYPOXI®-Coach. She explained to me that my metabolism was increased by the training, and that I would lose weight more easily in the future. I can absolutely confirm this. I’m now a size 8 – in March this year I was still a size 14 – and I have lost 20 kg in total. I’m over the moon, and a completely new woman. I feel fit again and comfortable in my skin. HYPOXI® has not only given me a new figure, but also newly found self-esteem. It’s just great! I fully recommend HYPOXI® to any woman who is dissatisfied with her body.” design your body

Here comes the breakdown service! Whether at home or on the move – things can easily go wrong. Practical tips are worth a mint, especially in the bathroom and in front of the mirror. Before things get out of control, we’ll reveal what to do when ... ... the mascara has dried out: Place the tube into a glass of warm water. Wait a few minutes, and the mascara will be fluid once more. ... the face powder is greasy: Probably caused by skin oil deposits. Simply scrape off the surface with a sharp knife, and the powder can be used again. ... no nail file is in reach: Try the striking surface on a matchbox. It will do the job in an emergency. ... ... too much perfume was sprayed on: Put some toner on a cotton pad and dab the skin where the perfume was sprayed. This will minimise the fragrance. ... your eyeliner or eyebrow pencils are blunt: You don’t have a sharpener at hand? Put a few drops of a toner that contains alcohol onto a tissue, wrap it around the blunt point and turn the tip of the pencil back and forth.

The power of nature Our grandmothers have always known it: Nothing is as perfect as nature. However, external and internal factors such as air pollution, excessive stress or hormonal imbalances can unsettle the skin. Add to this harsh cleansers and unsuitable skincare products, and the skin can be completely thrown off balance. The French brand Melvita was founded 30 years ago by a beekeeper, and it is seen as the pioneer in organic and natural cosmetics in France. The “Nectar Pure” series balances and protects the skin. air care shouldn’t be complicated. The first step is washing the hair. A healthy scalp is the foundation for strong hair. Chose mild shampoos that won’t irritate the scalp. If you wash your hair daily, alternate between a nourishing shampoo and a volumising shampoo. Massage conditioners and treatments into the lengths only, not the hairline, as they will weigh it down, making it look flat. The next step is styling. As natural volume starts at the hairline, styling products should also only be applied there. For best results use them on towel dried hair. Then dry your hair
using a hairdryer, as the heat will fluff up the hair. Spray volume hairspray onto the roots and pull the hair upwards strand by strand. Blow dry your hair in sections against the direction of growth. Dry your hair thoroughly, but don’t apply too much heat, as this will stress the hair and the scalp. Tip: use brushes and rollers to style your hair, and wait until the hair is cool before you remove them to add extra volume. If you colour your hair, you should choose lighter colours for very fine and thin hair, so that the contrast between the scalp and the hair colour isn’t as strong.
ple: A lot helps a lot. But in most cases this is counter-productive. The right amount applied correctly is key. Styling sprays are used on the roots of the hair, hairspray for better hold should be applied from at least 30 cm away and in a swaying movement. Volume mousse is ideal for the ends of the hair. Remember as a rule of thumb: a mandarin-sized dollop is enough for short hair, and three times as much for long hair. Last but not least a beneficial tip: dry shampoo magically transforms limp hair into fragrant, full hair in the blink of an eye. Thanks to its powdery, fine consistency it absorbs excess oil and increases hold. An insider trick used at fashion shows.

EYEBROWS WITHOUT SHAPE
A
great eye area is not complete without well groomed and shaped eyebrows. This can be achieved by tweezing, waxing, trimming or threading. Perfectly defined eyebrows that complement the shape of the face and the distance between the eyes form a frame that accentuates the eyes. Like eyelashes, eyebrows can be dyed to give the face a more distinctive look.If your eyebrows are quite thin, you can’t fill them in with false hairs, but the dye can tint individual hairs.

Whilst we like the look of a lot of hair on our head, most don’t like it on the rest of the body, such as the cheeks, upper lips, under the arms or on the legs. You can shave, wax or try to have it permanently removed. If you try cosmetic epilation, you should opt for treatments that use laser technology (IPL). IPL technology uses concentrated light directed at the hair follicle to atrophy the hair root and stop the hair from growing. It removes all unwanted hair on the face, under the arms, on the back and in the bikini area. Look for clinics that have professionally trained staff and use medical grade lasers, such as Laser Clinics Australia (http://www. laserclinics.com.au/).
beautyplaner SPIDER VEINS
T
hey are the little sisters of varicose veins: fine capillaries in the skin that have become enlarged and filled with blood as a result of loss of elasticity. They show through the skin as reddish or bluish little capillary trees. Spider veins can be treated with laser treatment or with microsclerotherapy. Microsclerotherapy involves injecting a “sclerosant”, or atrophic agent, which evokes an inflammation of the vessel walls, collapsing them. The same result is achieved by laser treatments, whereby the high energy light only works inside the blood vessels. For the vascular walls to close together, a pressure bandage or compression stocking needs to be worn for the duration of the treatment. For this reason, the treatment should be undertaken in winter months.
THIN LASHERS Very few of us are blessed with long, dense eyelashes. But you can give nature a helping hand. The most natural look is achieved by attaching fine strands of three to five lashes at irregular distances in between your own lashes. The effect lasts for about two weeks. Results last longer, up to six weeks, with a full lash extension treatment. The beautician firstly glues precisely one false lash onto each one of your own lashes and then fills in the gaps.

UNSIGHTLY SCARS Injuries, accidents or operations can leave scars. Not everyone considers them acceptable distinctive marks of life, especially if they are on the face or on another visible part of the body. When a scar doesn’t heal nicely despite proper care with the appropriate creams, consult your GP. Laser treatment may be advisable at a later stage. Redness can be covered with camouflage make up from the chemist, which are often available in different shades to blend with skin tone. Make sure that you have the application explained to you in detail, so that you can achieve a smooth transition to the rest of the skin.
UNEVEN SKIN TONE Dead skin cells are the most common cause of blemished skin. For this reason, you should incorporate a regular peel into your skincare routine. If, with increasing age, this no longer does the trick, consider fruit acid treatment. Different alpha hydroxy acid products (AHAs) are available for different skin types and treatment objectives. AHAs occur naturally in fruits and in sour milk. They help to exfoliate the skin (i.e. remove dead skin cells from the surface), stimulate, brighten and smooth the skin. They are usually prescribed for large pores, fine wrinkles, dull or lifeless complexion, blemished skin and pigmentation. Treatments are offered at specialised salons and may be carried out over a series of treatments. Between appointments, a preparation phase is required at home.

Naturally! Cosmetics are meant to make the world more colourful. But the latest trend in beauty products is clearly green. Natural cosmetics are environmentally friendly, sustainable, and stand for fair working conditions.
O

The research institute Ipsos found that 60 percent of women prefer cosmetics that only contain natural ingredients. A clear conscience is becoming increasingly important in the beauty industry. However, with all the environmentally friendly terms, it can be difficult to filter out the products
that actually correspond to this label. Not everything that says “eco” on the outside is “eco” on the inside. Often silicones, alcohol or artificial fragrances have been added. How can I tell if a cosmetic is really natural?

Not at all. It requires particularly intensive research to find substitutes for chemical processes. For example, collagen is sourced from microalgae instead of from animal products.

Are there drawbacks to natural cosmetics?
It depends on where your priorities lie. For example, conventional deodorants are more effective because they block the sweat glands with aluminium-based additives. HYPOXI ® INTERNATIONAL
A Korean proverb says: “The man who has the most beautiful woman of the village also has the most restless sleep.” Judging by this, the male population of South Korea is in great need of valium. Because for almost all women in South Korea, beauty is the key to a happy life.
K
orea is surrounded by three oceans: the Yellow Sea, the East China Sea and the Sea of Japan. The Koreans prefer to call the latter one “East Sea” in order to put one over their neighbour, Japan. South Korea’s landscape is dominated by mountains, hills and forests. In summer, plenty of rafting enthusiasts can be found at the wild rivers, whereas from November to April, enthusiastic skiers and snowboarders populate the numerous ski resorts around Seoul. It is reminiscent of Central Europe. And yet, it is totally different ... About 50 million people live in South Korea, 20 million of them in and around the capital Seoul. Battered by the civil war of the 1950s with neighbour North Korea, South Korea was once an impoverished agricultural state. Today, it has developed into one of the world’s most significant economies, championing brands such as Samsung, LG and Hyundai. The per-capita income corresponds roughly to that of an EU country – with an upward tendency. Surprisingly, a good half of the female population has a job. In Seoul alone, there are five universities just for women. Yet even though the supposedly weaker sex behaves more and more confidently, the traditional role of women is still considered to be the home and the family. Young women who are still unmarried at the age of 27 may even be given a helping hand. In so-called Booking Clubs, the waitress doesn’t just bring the rice schnapps “Soju” to the table, but on request also a potential husband. “Still, Korean girls hardly seek an
adventure”, tells Grit Haedicke who studies Economics in South Korea. “They all still believe in true love.“ Beauty at any cost
To impress the opposite sex, South Korean women don’t conceal their charms – especially not those lower down. Regardless of whether it’s summer or winter, women display as much leg as possible and mostly prefer to wear miniskirts, shorts or very short dresses. “Most Korean girls have beautiful, slim and straight legs”, raves fashion blogger Miu Nguyen. “On top, however, they prefer a more covered look, which means that even in summer they’d rather not wear shoulder-free or low-cut tops.” It’s mostly the young people who spend money on clothes. An interesting fact is that the country’s youth is not shopping at the large department store chains such as Mango, H&M or Zara, but in individual boutiques by no-name designers, where they hope to find original pieces. By the way: Traditional clothes with flower prints, or kimonos are now very hard to find. These days, Korean fashion is rather playful with a hint of elegance. The latest fashion trends can be found here, for example at the “Korea Style Week“, which takes place every January in the now world famous Seoul suburb of Gangnam. Both Indie designers and big labels walk down the catwalk here. Retailers in Germany have realised that South Korea is a promising location for fashion. design your body

White skin and big eyes – the preferred look for South Korean women...
“We can imagine expanding into new markets”, says KarlHeinz Müller, head of the currently Berlin-based fashion show Bread and Butter. “We’re currently evaluating Korea. Seoul is an important hub in Asia – excited about fashion, technologically minded, and: everybody likes Koreans.” Music determines what is beautiful
The typical Korean girl would love to look like a little girl, or like one of the heroines of the popular Manga comics. Therefore, skinny skirts with loose shirts, or hoodies and miniskirts with knee-length socks, reminiscent of the national school uniforms, are in fashion. It’s a must that they are worn with long hair and nerdy glasses, which are supposed to achieve one thing: big eyes. The music industry has a massive influence on which look is currently hot. Think “K-Pop”. Someone who wants to land a number one hit doesn’t necessarily have to be able to sing well, but they have to look great. Bernie Cho, one of the most successful singers in the industry, explains the phenomenon like this: “K-Pop is a very visual music genre. Its appeal lies not only in the sound, but mostly in the video clips that are sexy or just funny.” It’s especially the stars

of the K-Pop scene who dictate what is considered beautiful in the country. Curiously, the singer Psy has satirised this fact in his cult hit song “Gangnam Style” which makes a mockery of exactly this urban decadence. The song has made him arguably the most important ambassador of Korean pop culture. Even though his round face doesn’t fit the beauty ideal of his compatriots, which besides a narrowshaped face essentially features a high nose, large eyes and white skin. In order to match this mostly Western-orientated beauty model, Koreans don’t stop short of extreme methods. Plastic surgeons are often consulted when appearance matters. At least 15 percent of South Korean women have already been under the knife to get closer to the European ‘ideal’. With close to 700,000 operations annually, the republic is the unmatched world record holder. It’s not unusual, for instance, to be given a Botox treatment, eye enlargement surgery or skin whitening as a gift for completing high school, instead of a car. Again, K-Pop bands like Girl’s Generation or 21 set the tone. It’s not openly talked about, but everybody knows that many surgical interventions were needed for the majority of the artists to become stars. “Beauty clinics work

closely with the entertainment industry,” explains Professor of Art Eung Jong. “They take beautiful people from the clinics and place them in TV shows and bands. People then want to look like them and decide to have surgery.” Not least because they’re hoping to increase their chances in the job or marriage market. Imposing placards with ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos of women who have undergone successful plastic surgery advertise in Seoul with slogans like “Everybody’s done it. Except you.” The currently most skewed beauty trend in South Korea is called “aegyo sal” – “the smiling eye”. Behind it is the desire to have bags under one’s eyes. Those who don’t have any naturally, which is usual for the Asian physiognomy, can create artificial ones. As many women don’t have the money for plastic surgery, they give nature a lift with skilfully applied make up, or with especially designed eye tapes. The clientele, who is being treated to the HYPOXI-Method® on 300 luxurious square metres by a team of experienced coaches and nutrition experts, has high expectations. “Our target group are wealthy middle-aged women as well as models and celebrities”, explains the studio owner Chul Huh. “Apart from professional training guidance, we place a lot of value on discretion and privacy.” It’s not only the numerous clients who are excited about the progress that they are making with their body shaping thanks to HYPOXI®. One of South Korea’s most famous gynaecologists, Mr. Kwon O-jong, is praising it as well. “At first I found it hard to believe that there could be a method that would so easily and gently break down body fat”, he recalls. “Now I’ve learnt all about the principle and the results. HYPOXI® is in fact the only way to get rid of unwanted fat at the problem zones in a targeted and risk-free way. HYPOXI® is safe, easy and effective.” The only problem with the beautifully shaped female bodies: South Korean men will continue to have restless sleeps ... l

HYPOXI® aims to create a counter trend to such radical methods, also in the Far East. In late 2012, the first HYPOXI®-Studio was opened in the financial centre of the elegant Seoul suburb of Gangnam. It was founded by Chul Huh, a businessman who has successfully sold home gym equipment for 25 years. The combination of sport and health was not new to him. The studio, whose target audience are mainly local business women, quickly became a success. Due to the high demand, Huh founded a second branch in Seoul only one year later, this time a significantly bigger HYPOXI®-Studio in Chungdam-Dong. It’s surrounddesign your body

The constant worry about health is also an illness.« (Platon)
The four-leaf clover Four-leaf clovers promise their finder good luck in every aspect of life. Which is good, but they are extremely rare. In normal life, we can find three kinds of happiness. The happiness of contentment: Those who are loved, have the feeling of having “arrived“, those who have everything they need – they produce their own opioids in the brain. It is known to make us happy. The neurotransmitter serotonin has a calming effect, and oxytocin – also called the cuddle hormone – makes us feel closely connected to others and our environment. The happiness of excitement: Everything that is related to adventure, enjoyment, and suspense, gives us a “kick”. Usually a short-lived happiness, during which the neurotransmitter dopamine is released. In addition, endorphins produce feelings of euphoria. The happiness of relief: I’ve done it! The threat or disaster is over, the stress has subsided, and the fear is gone. Whatever the reason for it, our cortisol and adrenalin levels now drop, and we relax.

When is the most effective time to work out? The best training time is in the morning between 9am and 12pm. After that, body and mind slow down for a few hours. Activity levels don’t rise again until the afternoon, after about 4 pm. They last until about 9pm. It is therefore better to abstain from lunchtime exercise and instead play sport straight after work.

App-solutely recommended There are many Apps on offer in the great colourful smartphone world that revolve around the topics of health and fitness. They can be quite useful: What a noise! The ”Decibel 10th“ app measures the noise level of the environment with the help of the inbuilt microphone, and displays its decibel value (dB). It tells you how dangerous the noise level is for your ears. (free) Drink now! It is important to drink enough water, but it’s also easily forgotten. Thankfully there are useful apps to remind us. For iOS for instance, there’s “AquaPlan”. It allows you to calculate your water requirements and, based on the size of the waterglass and your waking time, it reminds you when you need to replenish your water stores. For Android, the app “Water Your Body” does the same job. (both free)

If you work in an office all day – and mostly in front of a computer – you are spending the greatest part of your life in the one position. The solution: exercises for any place or space.
E
xercise is essential, no question. But not everybody has the zest to play sport every day, or to work out regularly. If you follow our tips below, you can make sure that you incorporate a little bit of exercise into every day.
D First thing in the morning While still in bed, stretch out and straighten yourself. Pull your knees up to your chest and gently rock. Make circular movements with your wrists and ankles. When you’re up, stretch yourself and pull the left and the right arm upwards, one at a time. Gently rotate your arms and shoulders and shake your legs.

your body forwards in a sitting position – if possible down to your feet. Stay in this position for a few breaths, and then slowly roll back vertebra by vertebra. At the end, sitting upright, stretch out your arms above your head.
D On the way to work If the route and the weather allow, walk or cycle to work. If you travel by public transport, get off one stop earlier and walk the rest. Always take the stairs instead of the lift. Yes, even if your office is located on the fourth floor or above. You should walk this distance at least once a day. If this is too hard for you, take this as a first warning sign that you urgently need to do something for your fitness.
Stairs instead of lift! This keeps you fit and slim.
D At the office Go to your colleagues to give them messages. Not only is this more personal than a phone call or an email, it also gives you exercise. Don’t have trainees make photocopies or bring printouts to you – go to the printer yourself. Mini meetings between two people can easily be done during a short walk in fresh air, rather than sitting down in the conference room.
D During your lunch break Eat out instead of choosing the short walk to the canteen. If you do end up having lunch at the canteen, go for a short stroll afterwards, or run some errands.
D In your free time Make smaller shopping trips on foot or by bicycle. This is better not only for your body but also for the environment. And it is easier on your nerves to not have to find a parking spot! When visiting friends who don’t live far away, walk or cycle there. Take advantage of the ad breaks on television and get up and walk around. If you have an exercise bike at home, cycle on it while you’re watching your favourite show. design your body

wimming works out the entire musculoskeletal system and at the same time is easy on the joints. It strengthens the back and firms the arms. Swimming is easy for our body, as it has to carry only one-seventh of its weight in the water. It doesn’t matter if you prefer to swim freestyle, breaststroke, or backstroke. It’s not how you swim, but how you breathe that is crucial. Make sure you follow the right technique:
surfing, there are also the following sports: k Water skiing: For those looking for a thrill why not give it a try! Beginners usually start on two skis, more advanced individuals can try a wakeboard. Visit: @ http://www.prowake.com.au/schools

consciously breathe in above the water and out below the water. Aim to establish a regular rhythm to ensure that you’re getting sufficient oxygen. This is especially important when swimming freestyle. You catch your breath at that moment when your head briefly tilts to the side. It is advisable to take a breath every three strokes. Freestyle especially works out the muscles along the spine. With every forward stroke, the trunk is tightened for short periods of time – once to the left, once to the right. That way the upper body rotates around the spinal column, strengthening and stabilising it. If you experience problems with a tense head or neck area when swimming on your back, try to look diagonally up, rather than straight ahead. Equally important: If you go swimming as an endurance sport and spend more time in the water, you’ll need a comfortable, well-fitting bathing suit. The suit has the right size if it doesn’t sit too tightly and doesn’t fold or wrinkle when it’s still dry. It is also advisable to wear goggles in the swimming pool to protect the eyes against the chlorinated water. Once the goggles have a gentle suction against the face out of the water, they should hold perfectly watertight in the water. As you don’t notice perspiration in the water, it is easy to forget to drink. Make sure that you rehydrate in the breaks and after the training.
You will need to do a short course and complete a medical questionnaire. The equipment is usually provided by diving schools. If you dive regularly, it might be worth investing in your own diving equipment. Visit: @ http://www.prodive.com.au/Learn_to_Dive

Within only two years, it was followed by studios in Tampere, Kotka, Turku and Espoo. Word of the successful figure shaping method – which was also used by many celebrities and models – spread like wildfire. Ten further studios quickly followed, two more in the capital Helsinki
alone. “HYPOXI® was straight away a popular topic of conversation,” tells studio owner Salla Varis. “They even reported about it on TV.” She now runs three HYPOXI®-Studios, one of them in Vantaa Flamingo. It is located in the middle of a luxurious Day Spa Centre with shopping mall and prime transport connections. This means it enjoys a very large clientele from the vicinity and from further away. “The HYPOXI-Dermology® in particular has been very popular,” says Salla.
“We soon had to acquire a second HD-Comfort daybed to be able to meet the high number of requests by female clients for more beautiful skin texture.” Salla Varis is a qualified nurse and has always been greatly interested in health and fitness. Her first encounter with HYPOXI® was as a client. “Due to knee surgery I suddenly wasn’t allowed to do any sport anymore. I quickly gained weight in all the problem areas.” With the help of HYPOXI® she shed the accumulated kilos again in only two months’ time –without any discomfort. Now she and her team of professional coaches convey this enthusiasm to her clientele on a daily basis. And the latter is growing continuously. “I’m just happy when people achieve the same success with the HYPOXIMethod® as I did back then. My clients’ satisfaction gives me a huge boost of energy every day.”
Salla Varis now runs three studios in Finland.

y ship 3” is the name of the new star of the TUI fleet. It turns out to be a real eye-catcher. An approx. 167m2 glass wall in the shape of a diamond shines at the stern, giving the cruise ship a distinctive character. There are more things to discover on board. The large indoor area is called the “Great Freedom”. It is awash with light and dedicated to culinary delights. Speciality restaurants, a steakhouse, and a new café lounge where a professional barista creates international coffee specialities, are just some of the highlights. If you are worried that all that indulgence will end up on your hips, here’s good news: HYPOXI® is on board and will ensure that travellers can continue to work on their dream figure whilst on their dream holiday.
While you are gently rocking across the Mediterranean, or floating in the direction of the Canary Islands, problem areas are tackled in a lavishly furnished fitness area. If you prefer to release energy outdoors, you will soon discover the 25m lap pool. But there are also many options for taking a break from everyday life. For example at the concert hall listening to sophisticated jazz, or at the Dolbysurround sound cinema. Or enjoy a delicious cocktail on the glass balcony that floats 37m high above the ocean. Is there a better way to end a wonderful day on a dream holiday?

I had my head in the toilet. Seasick you assume? Every second person on board was revisiting the conte nts of their stomach. This was thanks to a stowaway by the name of Gastro. Great. After three days, the spoo k was over, and I could finally enjoy the rest of my holid ay. Starving as I was, I immediately darted for one of the many buffets. Boy, I had never seen anything like it. There was everything that my ravenous stomach could wish for. Kilometres of it. Around the clock. Luck ily I had just completed an involuntary crash diet, so for the next few days I walked around chewing with a constantly full mouth. Wonderful! I didn’t even care about the evening entertainment program. A certa in Michael Wendler was singing. Never heard of him. As long as it wasn’t Jared Leto himself who appeared – as a stripper –, nothing could keep me from my all you can eat scavenger hunt! In no time I was well know n in every single restaurant on board. Unfortuna tely, not a single millionaire showed up. At least not a hand some one. Two weeks later I was back on land and, judging by the scales, also back down to earth wher e gravity rules. I’ll spare you the details. Charlotte just called me. She wants to join me on the next cruis e. But on a ship with HYPOXI® on board. That way you can work off the nonstop food again straight away , she says. Doesn’t sound too bad. However, I will firstly enquire if the christening of the ship went smoothly next time. Just to be sure. Ahoy, and see you next time,

“Darling, why don’t you go on a cruise?“ My mother’s words still echo in my ears. Although 67, she’s anything but your typical sprightly cruise veteran who would drop every thing for a captain’s dinner. My mum is so fashi onable that she gives clothes to the brotherhood that are still considered on-trend in Vogue. But a cruise? I remained sceptical. However, when my girlfriend Charlotte raved about her last trip to the Caribbean, I was convinced. Why not? I really needed a holiday, and I had saved up some money. The food was supposed to be extraordinary on these cruise ships. An adde d bonus: There’d surely be a millionaire or two on deck as well. Something I wouldn’t mind in the least. To cut a long story short: Two months later I was on my way to my first cruise across the Mediterranean . The special thing: The ship was brand spanking new and was christened just before departure. Mortified, I witnessed some unknown model attempting three times to break the Champagne bottle at the ship’s side with a determined push – without success. A bad omen ? Once on board, I inspected my cabin. It dawned on me for the first time that it would have been handy there and then to already have that millionaire husband. Instead of a luxurious outside cabin with a sun terra ce, my limited budget had only sufficed for – let’s call it – a hole. No window, a clothes cupboard for dwar fs that my shoes only just fitted into, and – drum roll! – a bunk bed. Far from the luxury holiday I had in mind. I didn’t have much time to get upset. The follow ing two days are a blur, because as soon as we were out to sea, VOLUME
