1AfterthesethingsTobiaswenthisway,praisingGod thathehadgivenhimaprosperousjourney,andblessed RaguelandEdnahiswife,andwentonhiswaytillthey drewnearuntoNineve.

2AndTobiassaiduntohim,Ofather,itisnoharmto metogivehimhalfofthosethingswhichIhavebrought:
3Forhehathbroughtmeagaintotheeinsafety,and madewholemywife,andbroughtmethemoney,and likewisehealedthee.
4Thentheoldmansaid,Itisdueuntohim.
5Sohecalledtheangel,andhesaiduntohim,Takehalf ofallthatyehavebroughtandgoawayinsafety.
6Thenhetookthembothapart,andsaiduntothem, BlessGod,praisehim,andmagnifyhim,andpraisehim forthethingswhichhehathdoneuntoyouinthesight ofallthatlive.ItisgoodtopraiseGod,andexalthis name,andhonourablytoshewforththeworksofGod; thereforebenotslacktopraisehim.
7Itisgoodtokeepclosethesecretofaking,butitis honourabletorevealtheworksofGod.Dothatwhichis good,andnoevilshalltouchyou.
8Prayerisgoodwithfastingandalmsandrighteousness. Alittlewithrighteousnessisbetterthanmuchwith unrighteousness.Itisbettertogivealmsthantolayup gold:
9Foralmsdothdeliverfromdeath,andshallpurge awayallsin.Thosethatexercisealmsandrighteousness shallbefilledwithlife:
10Buttheythatsinareenemiestotheirownlife.
11SurelyIwillkeepclosenothingfromyou.ForIsaid, Itwasgoodtokeepclosethesecretofaking,butthatit washonourabletorevealtheworksofGod.
12Nowtherefore,whenthoudidstpray,andSarathy daughterinlaw,Ididbringtheremembranceofyour prayersbeforetheHolyOne:andwhenthoudidstbury thedead,Iwaswiththeelikewise.
13Andwhenthoudidstnotdelaytoriseup,andleave thydinner,togoandcoverthedead,thygooddeedwas nothidfromme:butIwaswiththee.

1ThenTobitwroteaprayerofrejoicing,andsaid, BlessedbeGodthatlivethforever,andblessedbehis kingdom
2Forhedothscourge,andhathmercy:heleadethdown tohell,andbringethupagain:neitheristhereanythat canavoidhishand.
3ConfesshimbeforetheGentiles,yechildrenofIsrael: forhehathscatteredusamongthem.
4Theredeclarehisgreatness,andextolhimbeforeall theliving:forheisourLord,andheistheGodour Fatherforever.
5Andhewillscourgeusforouriniquities,andwill havemercyagain,andwillgatherusoutofallnations, amongwhomhehathscatteredus.
6Ifyeturntohimwithyourwholeheart,andwithyour wholemind,anddealuprightlybeforehim,thenwillhe turnuntoyou,andwillnothidehisfacefromyou. 1SoTobitmadeanendofpraisingGod
2Andhewaseightandfiftyyearsoldwhenhelosthis sight,whichwasrestoredtohimaftereightyears:and hegavealms,andheincreasedinthefearoftheLord God,andpraisedhim.
3Andwhenhewasveryagedhecalledhisson,andthe sonsofhisson,andsaidtohim,Myson,takethy children;for,behold,Iamaged,andamreadytodepart outofthislife.
4GointoMediamyson,forIsurelybelievethose thingswhichJonastheprophetspakeofNineve,thatit shallbeoverthrown;andthatforatimepeaceshall ratherbeinMedia;andthatourbrethrenshalllie scatteredintheearthfromthatgoodland:andJerusalem shallbedesolate,andthehouseofGodinitshallbe burned,andshallbedesolateforatime;
5AndthatagainGodwillhavemercyonthem,and bringthemagainintotheland,wheretheyshallbuilda temple,butnotliketothefirst,untilthetimeofthatage befulfilled;andafterwardtheyshallreturnfromall
placesoftheircaptivity,andbuildupJerusalem gloriously,andthehouseofGodshallbebuiltinitfor everwithagloriousbuilding,astheprophetshave spokenthereof.
6Andallnationsshallturn,andfeartheLordGodtruly, andshallburytheiridols.
7SoshallallnationspraisetheLord,andhispeople shallconfessGod,andtheLordshallexalthispeople; andallthosewhichlovetheLordGodintruthand justiceshallrejoice,shewingmercytoourbrethren.
8Andnow,myson,departoutofNineve,becausethat thosethingswhichtheprophetJonasspakeshallsurely cometopass.
9Butkeepthouthelawandthecommandments,and shewthyselfmercifulandjust,thatitmaygowellwith thee.
