ECONOMIC IMPACT When the budget for meetings and exhibitions organised by IAPCO members is added up, you can see for yourself just how much financial power our members are responsible for.
This was the average number of events IAPCO members were involved in organising, adding up to 8591 meetings or exhibitions this year alone. Next year’s total is expected to be higher.
With this amount of square meters of space managed, IAPCO members had to cover a lot of ground. The average event was 94 square metres, up 27% on 2014.

BEST PRACTICE: CASE STUDIES Beyond Congress Management Associations are more than their congress, and IAPCO PCOs are more than congress organisers. Delivering innumerable quality congresses has given IAPCO members invaluable insights into the business needs of their clients and has allowed them to become trusted advisors who can contribute to the success of an organisation beyond their congress. IAPCO’s philosophy is entirely based on quality, and its members actively share best-practice and develop educational programmes and guidelines which enable them to perform at the highest levels in any area of expertise related to organisational excellence. To illustrate this, IAPCO regularly publishes success stories of members who have helped their clients to be successful not just by organising their congress, but by achieving overarching business objectives.
Velo-city Global 2016 Organised by IAPCO Member: GIS Group When Velo-city announced that their forum would be held in Taipei, many were surprised. The event was devised by the European Cyclists’ Federation to promote cycling as a means of transportation and cycling is not part of Taipei’s culture. It took an IAPCO member to turn the event into a resounding success. GIS Group devised a four day programme which highlighted the role of industry, which is a real strength for the city of Taipei, and also tied in with the annual cycling trade show. Speakers and side events blended local and universal appeal and sponsors were encouraged to be innovative. One even built its own cycling track. Over 1000 delegates from 43 countries attended, making it the largest Velo-city event ever held outside Europe, moving the head of the European Cyclists’ Federation to describe it as ‘a real global cycling summit.’ Choosing to involve IAPCO member GIS as both the designer and the person who made the show happen, was a stroke of genius that many will be looking to emulate.
