Redevelopment of built-up areas The transformation concept of each of nine districts was accompanied by detailed information on the necessary components and budget, a strategy for the development of public spaces and key facilities. The concept includes recommendations for the formation of projects - from vision to implementation. The key principle of working with projects is “Flexible plan with fixed priorities. Special attention is paid to the formation of sub-centers of dense development around public transport hubs. Also, proposals are given on the sequence of development of planning projects

New City Parks New parks in Perm primarily provide a link between the city and water. The main task is due to the reorganization of the transport network and redevelopment of industrial zones to reveal the valuable natural potential of river valleys. Recreational spaces together with the liberated territory of the rail economy form complex interconnected park areas along the embankment of the Kama river. We have designed a new system of riverside parks - “green rivers” of the city, which have become part of the Green Belt (a natural ring around the Perm metropolis) and a system of recreational spaces in the city. Priority activities are the determination of the boundaries of new parks, the nature, and principles of their organization, as well as the primary activities to activate the spaces.

02 WEIYUAN FOREST ISLAND MASTERPLAN International Competition of Conceptual Design for Weiyuan Island Forest Park, 2020 As a part of MLA+ team, Urban designer in collaboration with Guangzhou Landscape Institute Location: 22°48`N 56°19`E | Dongguan, China Winner of the competition Greater Bay Area Urban Design Awards - Nominated Award

This is one of the Chinese projects and also one of the predominantly landscape large-scale projects that I have participated in. Our winning entry proposed to use the relative lack of development in an otherwise fast-forward urban environment as an opportunity to create a different place. An island where history and nature given a prominent place and an island, where development is integral and not only focused on buildings. We looked at current centralities, special features, and special sites of the villages. This project was a serious exercise in finding and using information from the Internet, how to create a vector landscape using NASA imagery, understand water flows, and existing forest paths? The most important principle of the project was not just to create a recreational park, but to take into account the ecological framework as much as possible and preserve biodiversity

03 BROODJESTAD The concept of renovation of the foodmarket based on recycle of old bread, 2020 *as a student in AvB, studio of Mauro Parravicini & Marta Roy Torrecilla Location: 52°22’45.5”N 4°51’58.3”E | Amsterdam

The Foodcenter Amsterdam is awaiting an important transformation: the city aims to better integrate it in its surrounding urban fabric, by opening up connections to the neighborhood and improving its logistics within the area and towards the city. The assignment for this studio was seeking for a transformation of the full Market area into a diverse, integrated, hybridized neighborhood, where urban agriculture, distribution center, market facilities and housing can coexist and are enriched by their variety and mix of programme. We were asked to focus on one food product and one processing step and build a circulal neighboorhood based on this process. My research question for this student exercise is how we can collect, recycle, and reuse old bread - the most wasteful product in the country. Moreover, I am seeking extra quality which this reuse process can bring to the area. Also an important feature of this project is how to organize the process of step-by-step transformation of the environment so that the district would function smoothly at any time. I tried to make a kind of 4D plan, linking the growth of square meters with the amount of bread harvested and how many apartments we can provide with clean energy.

According to statistics from the Voedingscentrum Dutch Nutrition Research Center, for every inhabitant of the Netherlands, 41 kilograms of food is discarded per year

22% are bread and pastries

In the Netherlands we throw away 127 000 000 kg per year or 435 000 loaves of bread per day

04 WILLEMS-AS| REMASTERED The concept of renovation of the area around future station Entrepot, 2020 *as a student in AvB, studio of Marco Broekman & Floris van der Zee Location: 51°54’40.8”N 4°30’09.0”E | Rotterdam

This student project is an experiment, an exploration of the potential of high dense city life on the south banks of the Rotterdam. Two major interventions form pre-set parameters set for the studio: - The Willems-bridge (extended connectonRotterdam Oranjeboomstraat directly to Noordereiland) - New ‘Station Entrepot’. The current station “Rotterdam Zuid” is replaced by a new train station. My ambition was to make a research-based project, analyzing the context of the entire city and very specifically formulate what type of dense area is needed on the site. I tried to define which typologies we should use, how the urban fabric can react to the new transportation mode and how this node can function. Three main elements of the structural plan - An updated connected network of green public spaces, which also connects the objects of the social infrastructure of the district - An interconnected network of active plinths on the territory, built on a detailed analysis of the character of the building front - The project proposes a system of pointed, acupunctured densification, based on the analysis of typologies of existing buildings on the site and their historical status, the form of ownership. The idea is that these objects will also form a unique identity of the territory, being design contrasted to the existing buildings.

05 WHAT THE FOG? The concept of renovation of Fort Spijkerboor into an observation spot, 2019 *as a student in AvB, studio of Sasa Radenovic Location: 52°32’25”N 4°50’30”E | Spijkerboor

What do we really mean to inherit in the old building? Architectural design, engineering, landscape? These are places, places and places which we consider as monuments, ‘heritage’. But what does it mean to inherit a place? In a way, that means inheriting time and inheriting sensations. When objectifying cultural heritage, a certain set of physical objects or substances and, on the other hand, its image given to visual and other types of sensory perception. I see the main objective of my project as the transition from an approach to a historical object as a space that we perceive as a static pictures to dynamic ones, and from a contemplative attitude, observational practice to actively incorporating it into the process of activity and thinking in the field. I intend to work with the perception boundary between territory of «safety», space of «friendlies» on one hand, and «hostile ground», «enemies» on the other hand. I consider it purposeful to enhance the sense of frightening suspense for those who on the fort and make space attractive in a way for those who conceive it from distance.

The plan forms part of an initiative by the City of Moscow to regenerate a whole series of Hrushchevka neighbourhoods built in the 1960’s. As the center of political power in Russia, Moscow enjoys a reputation for being a city of dynamic action. In keeping with this tradition, the city is embarking on an unprecedented program of demolition and reconstruction. The current struggle in Moscow over this planned demolition of thousands of Soviet-era apartment buildings shows a vast transformation in the realm of housing Our main goal of the project is not only to create comfortable living conditions, to facilitate renovation of people’s living environment. We made an effort to invent the programs to create the best condeitions to unite residents in the community.

This is an example of typical in scale and detailness project in my practice. The peculiarity of designing in Russia is that in the early stages you need to take into account the restrictions, both urban and architectural for the smallest detail, since many of them are not discussed and strongly affect the final design.
