Growing up, I can remember counting down the days until school got out for summer break. Now, I find myself doing the same thing, anticipating family fun with our girls as our schedules become less demanding. Countless hours by the pool and nights filled with grilling and s’mores are our favorite summer pastimes. Summertime is also a great time to kick-start projects around your home, and our summer issue is full of inspiration to get you going! Our cover story features a project I worked on with a high school friend of mine. We created a chic and family-friendly home for their family of six. Also in this issue, you get a sneak peek into one of our most talked about Huntington Homes model homes. If the beach is on your brain, you won’t want to miss the design plan for the laundry room and mud room design for our project @alldeckedout30A in Watercolor, Florida. I’m also sharing a sneak peek at my friend Shayla Copas’s new book, Four Seasons of Entertaining, in which my husband and I are featured. Yellow is a color that’s been proven good for the psyche, and we’re suggesting ways you could incorporate it into your home’s decor. IBB designers Jory Gattis Dickinson explains five essential elements for designing your backyard, and Karen Holloway discusses ways to create a warm and inviting space. Kay Lewis shares about new recliner styles, and Lauren Macnak dishes on designing your outdoor space. Meghan Sebren offers advice on caring for your linens, and Pam Hood shares the essentials for your living room design. Rachel Johnston highlights ways to incorporate accents into your home that will take it to the next level, and Shannon Gidney discusses creating interiors with impact. We have some fabulous lifestyle contributors this issue, too! Alicia Wood shows us how to design a summertime soirée, and Neat Method is back to give us quick and simple ways to stay organized. The Botanical Mix suggests having custom pieces made to perfectly fit your bespoke interiors. So grab a glass of peach iced tea and read our latest issue while lounging poolside! Cheers to living in style!

Lean on Sunny Yellow to brighten up any room for the summer. Bring in warmth, laughter and a sense of optimism with this inviting color. Be sure to use it sparingly throughout the room to not overpower the overall feel of the room's décor. If you are looking for an extra pop of color, infuse some aqua or cobalt blue into the mix for a dynamic combination that will keep your guests captivated and feeling good. Hints of red and orange can give your sunny yellow room that added intrigue. Yellow is an inviting and easygoing color evoking a sense of friendliness and happiness. Whether you are dressing up your outdoor living area or adding a simple chair to your den, sunny yellow will always liven it up.

DESIGNER TIPS
Floral designed by Shane Friesenhahn
F loral Mixology DESIGNED BY SHANE FRIESENHAHN, THE BOTANICAL MIX
Incredible design doesn’t happen by chance. Thinking outside the box with custom-designed pieces ensures that everything fits perfectly and is special to that space, giving you that final wow factor you’ve been looking for. In this design, we used Japanese Ranunculus for drama, Fritillaria for texture, and olive foliage providing a sense of whimsy. Antique Hydrangeas add nostalgia while giant Hellebores give it overall structure. To create a little variety, we added hybrid garden roses adorned with turkey feathers which were once used to stabilize arrows and now help guide this design. Floral mixology includes rare florals from around the world - some fresh, some preserved, and some man-made. Minerals, organics, and layers of product woven together enhance your interior design and the quality of life in that space. That’s “The Botanical Mix.”

COZY SPACES BY RACHEL JOHNSTON, IBB DESIGNER
rachel@ibbdesign.com | @rjohnston on Instagram The summer months are in full swing and so are the warmer temperatures! Most people who consider this their favorite season find the weather to be much more welcoming than the previous harsh, colder months. The same association between warmth and the feeling of perfect contentment is often made when a design feels cozy and inviting. A beautiful design is only complete when it feels as livable and approachable as it is aesthetically pleasing. All designs instantly feel more approachable when they include natural elements, minimal yet impactful décor, a perfect assortment of textiles and wellthought-out accent lighting. Accent furniture and accessories are a great way to tie in different types of wood that can introduce organic elements to a space without going overboard. Florals and greenery are the key to bringing life into any space. Whether it’s a simple arrangement of moss used to fill up a bowl, or a lighter alternative of a beautiful permanent orchid (one of my tried and true go-to’s) when accessorizing, the placement of accessories alone can change the aesthetic of a space. Coffee table books, for example, when methodically stacked, are an essential foundation on which to layer accessories.

Wallpaper is always a high priority when planning out the different textiles in a space and can allow a room to feel warm and cozy. Of course, when pulling together different textiles for a design, the fabric selection for drapes is absolutely crucial. When done incorrectly, drapes can create conflict and confusion in a space. However, when done correctly, drapes can be the missing piece to the puzzle that completes a design. The same is true when it comes to selecting a rug. There is nothing better than finding the perfect rug for a project, as a rug can completely pull together a room. I also find accent lighting is paramount in making a space feel cozy. I live for sleek task lamps and their ability to instantly make any room feel welcoming. I also quite often turn to a picture light to make a space feel complete, whether it’s over one piece of art or a grouping of a curated collection. Some of the most eye-catching designs are those that use minimalism to their advantage, and when done correctly, the use of a few cozy elements can be the difference between the design feeling cold or warm and inviting.

keys to an inviting living room
When you are designing your room, start with a scale drawing floor plan. Your floor plan will help take the guesswork out of your decision-making process and will show the right size furniture for your room. Furniture that is too small will look dwarfed, and furniture that is too large will make your room seem smaller and over-crowded. Your floor plan will also show the walking pathways to ensure you have plenty of space to move around in your room. Once you know the size and placement of your furniture, be sure to choose comfortable upholstery pieces. The inside depth of upholstery is the critical dimension for comfort based on the way you and your family like to sit. Add accessories to create an inviting and comfortable space. Soft accent pillows and throws on upholstery add a cozy feel and lamps around the room enhance mood lighting. Beautiful decorative coasters add convenience for your guests, and scented candles enhance the overall atmosphere.

When my longtime friend Shayla Copas asked my husband Brian and me to be a part of her book, Four Seasons of Entertaining, I immediately jumped at the opportunity. Shayla shares my passion for color, texture and pattern. She loves to add unexpected interest to the parties, balls and gatherings she designs. This has earned her the reputation as a tabletop and entertaining trendsetter, garnering Copas a 2019 placement on “Salonneiere’s top 100 party hosts in America” list. She has designed and implemented more than 50 major events, including the Arkansas Inaugural Ball. The book is divided into four sections based on the seasons. My husband and I were thrilled to create the Oktoberfest and Christmas chapters. Each chapter is filled with some of our favorite family recipes. You’ll

definitely want to try my mom’s beef tenderloin and my Boursin mashed potatoes featured in the Christmas book. They’re always a huge hit with family and friends. My pretzel bites and beer cheese sauce recipes from our Oktoberfest chapter are a favorite and are a perfect option for gameday fare as well. I highly suggest the mulled wine to warm you up on cold fall nights. Each chapter also features stunning florals and tablescapes. Shayla offers an abundance of great tips on entertaining throughout the book. The photography of each party is captivating and will certainly inspire you for your next soirée! WAYS TO ADD
WARMTH
TO YOUR SPACE In this age of “transitional design” with gray as the new neutral, one big challenge is creating a space that’s warm and inviting. Here are a few simple tips to add warmth to your special space. SW 9168 ELEPHANT EAR
"... consider warmer paint tones
like Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray or Elephant Ear." SW 7029 AGREEABLE GRAY
Paint colors can be the most influential factor to any interior. They often carry the room architecturally. You can still be on-trend with the grays, but instead of the cool grays like Sherwin Williams Repose Gray or Gray Screen, consider warmer tones like Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray or Elephant Ear. Remember, there’s always the option to lighten these tones even more by getting formulas at 75% or even 50% saturation. Incorporate the warmth of the outdoors through the large windows that are so prevalent in today’s architecture. Plants and colors in landscaping instantly add warmth and coziness to any environment. To assist with bringing these benefits to your interior, create a comfortable, inviting sitting area on the patio as an extension of your living area. A sofa and two chairs or a dining table and chairs visible from the key room of a home not only bring the warmth of the outdoors in, but also visually extend the space. If this isn’t possible, then bring the plants inside with the addition of at least one of the new beautiful artificial plants available today. It’s hard to tell they aren’t real! Architecture today in general is very open and has minimal wall space, limiting the opportunity for color and texture that comes with art, but be creative and look for at least one wall to hang a special painting -one that speaks to you and enhances the area. Art found in other forms, like textures and patterns found in fabric, can make a significant contribution to the warmth and coziness of a room. Most everyone knows to add throw pillows to a décor. Select ones that make a statement by either being a contrast color or a unique fabric or pattern. Another way to add texture and interest to a vignette is with a stool or two. Use one covered in a kilim rug for a casual look, a printed or plain velvet for a more formal, sophisticated style or one with a metal base and upholstered seat. Good luck – and happy decorating!

ACCESSORIES
Don’t leave your outdoor coffee tables, dining tables and walls blank - you certainly wouldn’t inside! Mixing sculptures, colorful vessels, trays and even outdoor-rated wall art adds an additional layer of style to your open-air spaces and makes them even more interesting! Fountains and torches add lots of ambience and can get anyone in the mood for a summer evening outdoors.
5
WEATHER CONTROL
Even though you are more exposed to the elements outdoors, that doesn’t mean there aren’t tricks to extend your outdoor living time. Umbrellas are obviously great for sunny days, but interactive motorized solar screens and fire tables with propane heaters allow us to utilize outdoor spaces when the weather isn’t optimal! Enjoy your cool summer nights next to a relaxing fire table.
With all of the amazing new products out there in the market, more and more people are addressing their outdoor spaces. These spaces add livable square footage and entertaining space to your home. By addressing a few simple things, it’s easy to take these spaces to the next level and really make them feel special!

LIGHTING
STORAGE
Let’s not forget that all living areas inevitably come with an abundance of items. Openweave baskets offer a great opportunity for stashing extra pillows and pool towels. Storage benches are great for larger toys and grilling accessories, while offering flex seating.
While solar pathway lights aren’t for everyone, there are some fantastic outdoor lighting options that can really enhance a variety of living areas. Add chandeliers and lanterns! Lights with dimmers are also great for providing overhead illumination for a fun summer game of cards that goes into the night or for when you’re winding down with a glass of wine. Outdoor lamps and lanterns filled with candles (real or faux) are also great for adding atmosphere.

LOUNGERS CAN HAVE CLEAN, SLEEK LINES THAT OFFER BOTH THE COMFORT YOU DESIRE AND THE STYLE THE DESIGNER IS TRYING TO ACHIEVE FOR YOU. Kick back and relax has always been the theory behind a lounge or recliner chair. What has changed is the presence the chair has in the room. Recliners in the design of the past have been viewed as the very large, over-scaled, clunky chairs that did not work with the style or personality of the room. Even though they "fit" properly and did offer comfort, we mainly considered them a design "No, no"! Now most furniture manufacturers are introducing more

transitional and contemporary styles that can be both comfortable and pleasing to the overall scale and design of the room. Loungers can have clean, sleek lines that offer both the comfort you desire and the style the designer is trying to achieve for you. DESIGNER TIPS
TURN DRAB TO FAB spicing up neutrals
Ask any designer, and they will tell you that there are a million ways to turn a drab space into a fabulously designed room with tons of interest. Our design aesthetic trends more to the monochromatic color palette, letting the architecture of the home shine. When we were given this study, it had gray walls and brown hardwood floors. Hardwoods themselves bring a lot of warmth to a room with their varied tones and natural beauty. The vision for this space was to create a natural and tranquil office while playing up textures, without the use of a lot of color. Beyond the basic bones of the room, we layered in all the necessary items to make the room come alive. Rugs are a great way to incorporate pattern under foot and create the base

layer. Draperies are also a must, as they really soften the room and finish off a space nicely. There are so many unique fabric selections and hardware these days; the options are truly endless! Additional character can be built with the infusion of interesting accessories and wall hangings, such as the circular bone mirror featured here. Mixing your metals will also provide a bit of tonal interest. Lastly, always plan to feature a wealth of texture in your upholstered pieces.

All Decked Out 30A MUD ROOM
When we were tackling the whole-house remodel at All Decked Out in Watercolor, Florida, creating a larger and more efficient laundry room was a top priority. The previous laundry room was a small and awkward space. We transformed it into a powder bath, which worked out perfectly. For the new laundry room, we converted the firstfloor screened porch, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. With a large family and lots of kiddos, it’s not uncommon to have daily loads of laundry with all the beach towels and changes of clothes.
32 IBB AT HOME
BY SHAY GEYER IBB OWNER & DESIGNER shay@ibbdesign.com @designershay on Instagram
The new mudroom has an exterior door that opens onto the path to the beach access. So when the day is done, everyone can unload their dirty towels as they walk in from the beach. Double stacked washers and dryers allow for multiple loads to be done at one time. Cabinet storage and a mudroom bench offer ample space for sunscreen, toys and clean beach towels. A row of hooks provides hanging space for beach bags and hats. Spacious countertops make folding laundry convenient, and a large sink provides a spot to rinse off shoes and toys. The patterned porcelain floor tile gives the room great
style, and the cabinetry painted in Sherwin Williams Blissful Blue makes the room feel fresh and happy. A matte black faucet and hardware tie in the palette we pulled from the patterned tile. We had the artwork over the sink custom made with our “Beach House Rules” and flanked it with a pair of black sconces. It’s really quite a transformation; we’re excited with how our design turned out!

GO WILD THIS SUMMER
Animal prints are a classic way to liven up an interior, whether adding in pattern to a neutral space with a simple zebra print or creating a bold statement with a bright leopard velvet. These prints remain an easy way to add a playful and luxe element to your space.

CONSIDER PERMANENT BOTANICALS
Faux flowers have come a long way in recent years. Once plastic and unrealistic, they are now almost impossible to decipher from fresh, real flowers. Some botanicals are even presented in acrylic to replicate water. There are even options that are 3D digitally printed to capture every little detail found in nature. Permanent botanicals have evolved as the “new real.” Using these permanent botanicals is an easy and beautiful way to accessorize year-round. Just don’t accidentally water them!
MAKE A STATEMENT WITH TEXTURE
Texture, pattern and color are hot in the design world! Whether you are adding bullion to a sofa or using an embroidered fabric contrasted with a pop of color, these elements allow for the true lines of a piece of furniture to be exalted in ways unseen by your whites, grays and beiges with no texture.

When it comes to creating the ultimate outdoor space, you first must decide what your goals are for how you will live in it. For some people, dining outside on a bright summer day while cooking in an outdoor kitchen will be their primary goal; for others, lounging by the pool and soaking in the sun while the kids play will be their choice. Once you have decided how you want to live outside, you can start to lay out your space. Working with a designer can help you determine furniture placement based on flow, sun exposure, color palette and style of your outdoor space. We are seeing a big trend toward making an outdoor space an extension of your home by tying interior design elements to your outdoor space. This allows for a nice flow between perhaps an indoor living room and an adjacent patio outdoors. Some people may enjoy using retractable glass doors to open up the spaces between the two to give an overall open feeling and to bring the outdoors inside! Even though it is outside, it doesn’t mean that you cannot have a warm, inviting experience. Add a nice outdoor rug, some greenery and some pops of accent colors with throw pillows to create a truly custom, luxurious retreat. However you choose to live in your outdoor space, make it a space you love to live in and enjoy.

BED LINENS
Who doesn’t love a good sleep in a bed made with luxurious linens? Buying sheets can be overwhelming, but even after you do all your research and find the perfect set, the work doesn’t stop there. Maintaining your sheets is the key to keeping them long-lasting and feeling soft. It is recommended that you have three sets of sheets so you can rotate them regularly. This will tremendously expand the lifetime of quality sheets. The first step is washing them by themselves with the right detergent. Our sheets don’t get the same wear and tear as our clothes do, so use a detergent specifically designed for linens, or even use a baby detergent. It won’t be as harsh on your sheets

and will expand their life. Washing sheets with clothes or towels creates a lot of lint and friction which will break them down. For a fresh smell and to keep sheets bright white, use a cup of distilled white vinegar, as it naturally brightens and eliminates odors. Bleach and fabric softeners are too harsh for those delicate fibers. When pulling them out of the washer, do so immediately after the cycle is done, shake them out before putting them in the dryer and use the gentle cycle to reduce wrinkles. If you prefer to iron your sheets, iron them on the reverse side while they are still a little damp. And don’t forget that duvet cover – it needs to be washed just as regularly.

FAMILY FRIENDLY
ENTRY
When my high school friend Mia Tarazski reached out to me to design and build their family home from the ground up, I was beyond thrilled. Our goal was to create a chic and inviting home that fit the lifestyle of Mia, her husband Jason, their four children and their sweet Labrador, Mollie. Immediately upon entering the home, you’re embraced by a crisp palette with pops of color throughout. The custom, emerald green chest in the entry is a favorite piece. The staircase was fabricated in a custom elongated hex, a pattern that is repeated in other areas in the home.

The paneled walls and beams in the coffered ceiling were painted in a deep gray to give a cozy feeling to the large room. A warm-toned burled wood writing desk with chrome legs floats in front of the built-in bookshelves and offers ample space to work. Cognac-tufted leather swivel chairs flank an end table where family chess matches frequently take place. A hair on hide patterned rug and drapery out of the Hex fabric from The Shay Geyer Collection tie together the neutral palette of gray and cognac and bring texture and pattern into the room. A pop of pink was brought in with the Noelle arrangement from The Shay Geyer for Botanical Mix Collection. On the opposite wall, a long gold leaf console allows for space for a container of mints for guests, a scented candle and fresh flowers. The artwork above the console was a treasure Mia found that we framed to bring color into the room.

FAMILY ROOM
The large open plan works well for this family who is always opening their doors for gatherings. We designed a custom sofa with a double chaise that the whole family can snuggle up on. An acrylic and wood cocktail table anchors the space between the sectional and a pair of swivel chairs. We selected a navy paint color for the paneled fireplace wall, kitchen island and vent hood to tie the family room and kitchen together.Â

Upholstered host and hostess chairs soften the space and give mom and dad a comfy place to sit at the dinner table. Green upholstered swivel barstools are the perfect spot for the kiddos or for friends and family to sit while the Tarazskis are cooking.Â

Just off the kitchen, Mia’s workspace gives her plenty of room to stay organized for the family’s activities and busy schedule. Since this bathroom gets a ton of use, we really wanted to make a fun statement in here. MASTER BEDROOM Accents of blush pink were brought in through ottomans at the end of the bed, a pillow and throw blanket and through peonies. A crisp white duvet and Euros give a fresh feel to the bed while layers of blue nod to the palette of the room.Â

MASTER BATHROOM A serene and relaxing master bathroom design was requested by Jason and Mia. Marble tile (size 12x24) was chosen for the floors and the walls of the steam shower, and a marble hexagon tile was used on the tub and adjoining wall to create a beautiful design statement. The chandelier centered in the room and sconces set in the mirrors are like jewelry for the space. An acrylic vanity chair with a seat upholstered in a blue velvet brings a contrast in color and ties in to the bedroom’s color palette.

LIBRARY The large home office/library features vaulted ceilings that are highlighted with wood beams. We called attention to the vault and beams by painting them a deep charcoal. A wall of built-ins offers ample storage for books and a place to display treasured family photos and accessories. A brass and glass writing desk offers a work space without taking up much visual weight in the room, and a pair of club chairs provides seating for guests and a cozy spot to read a book. The black patterned rug grounds the space and adds contrast and depth to the neutral palette.Â

MEDIA ROOM We painted the media room walls black to create the perfect backdrop for movie viewing. Two large sofas anchor the room and offer comfortable seating for movie night. Layers of cognac and gray brought in through textures like leather, hair on hide and faux fur give this room a warm and cozy vibe. Mixed metals and reclaimed woods also lend themselves to the layered warmth of the design. We selected a tufted leather ottoman flanked by two glass and iron cubes to create a coffee table setting. The cubes offer a fun place to display and store books, games and extra throw pillows and blankets.

The graceful dining room is part of the home’s open floor plan design. The soaring ceilings give the room elegance, but we kept the vibe casual by designing it with linen drapery and a reclaimed wood and iron dining table. The chandelier makes quite a statement over the table, while the white

KITCHEN 64 IBB AT HOME
The kitchen and family room open to each other and have impressive architectural details. Vaulted ceilings with beams and large sliding doors that open onto the patio are just a few of the highlights. A sofa with a chaise beckons you to come relax in the family room, while the live edge cocktail table adds to the organic textures seen throughout the home. The room’s palette of black, white, gray, and caramel is reflected in details such as the patterned kitchen backsplash, matte black plumbing and the large-scaled black and gold leaf chandeliers.Â

MASTER BEDROOM The master bedroom is a truly luxurious retreat designed with a combination of layered textures and modern glam. The bed wall covered in distressed wood planks is contrasted with an acrylic and brass canopy bed. A patterned shag rug brings cozy texture into the room. Crisp white linens offer a relaxed and fuss-free feeling in the room.

MASTER BATHROOM The spacious master bathroom has dual vanities with custom mirrors and pendant lighting. The black, white and caramel palette continues into the space with gorgeous tile that emulates Calcutta gold marble. The vestibule between the bathroom and walk-in closet offers additional storage and could also be a fabulous place for a coffee bar.

GUEST BEDROOM The guest bedroom is a luxe and airy retreat. The all white bedroom has a fresh and inviting feel with accents of gold for a sophisticated touch. A gold sunburst mirror hangs above an upholstered bed with brass nails that is dressed in crisp white bedding. Euros in camel linen and decorative pillows in an antelope pattern add warmth to the space.

BOY’S BEDROOM We created a focal point on the bed wall by painting large-scaled stripes in black, gray and white and had an upholstered bed made in black linen with large silver nail heads. Reclaimed wood and iron nightstands give an industrial vibe to the teen’s room. A nod to his love of music was brought in with artwork and accessories.
GIRL'S BEDROOM We had an upholstered bed made and dressed it with crisp white linens and a a few decorative pillows. Touches of blush pink accents were added throughout the room. A hand-painted design in grey and pink wraps the top of the room to bring in a fun design detail. Showcasing her passion for horses, we added hand-woven accents and a large art piece.

UPSTAIRS GAME ROOM 72 IBB AT HOME
The upstairs game room is the ultimate hangout! We used a large sofa with a chaise to create a cozy spot for TV viewing. A flat weave rug in black and white grounds the sitting area. We brought texture in by applying wood planks to the ceiling. Popping popcorn and serving drinks is a breeze with the built-in kitchenette. A patterned tile backsplash, black countertops and white cabinetry tie in seamlessly with our palette.Â

TIPS FOR HOSTING A GARDEN PARTY
BY ALICIA WOOD, CREATIVE DIRECTOR, ALICIA WOOD LIFESTYLE aliciawoodlifestyle.com I alicia@aliciawoodlifestyle.com I @aliciawoodlifestyle on Instagram
Spring and summer are my favorite seasons! I love nothing more than enjoying the outdoors and hosting a party. Recently, I hosted a garden party dinner for a group of friends. With the outdoor entertaining season upon us, I hope you will find a bit of inspiration for any outdoor soirée you host in honor of a graduate or bride or just for a beautiful night with friends.
1. USE FRESH GREENERY
Incorporating fresh greenery into your tablescape provides a lush garden feel. Having garlands spill over the ends of the table provides a little extra without feeling overdone. My friends at Gracious Garlands create the most gorgeous greenery that arrives farm fresh to your door. We incorporated garlands into the bar and even my outdoor fireplace to enhance the garden feel.
2. ADD BLOOMING GARDEN PLANTS
If you read my blog or follow along on Instagram, you know that I love all things blue and white, and this is no exception! Here, I have used a mixture of my favorite blue and white containers with small white hydrangeas and hot pink kalanchoe to give it a lush floral look. Adding an abundance of white votive candles helps create a beautiful ambience. I also used the new TIKI Brand tabletop torches to help keep mosquitos and bugs at bay. How fantastic are these crossback chairs I incorporated from Lawson Event Rentals? They were the perfect finish to provide a natural look.

3. CREATE AN HERBAL COCKTAIL
A minty Mojito is one of my favorite summer cocktails. A cocktail with fresh herbs helps to complement and extend your garden theme. I mixed up my BLK EYE Vodka Mojito base in large pitchers and let guests choose their flavor to muddle in their glass before topping with club soda and ice. You’ll love this Texas made, non-GMO vodka in this fresh, minty drink.
4. SERVE SIMPLE AND DELICIOUS MENU
My goal was to keep the evening casual and simple! I looked to one of my favorite restaurants, BarTaco, to serve a light menu of tacos, tuna tostadas, fresh salsas and a spicy cucumber salad. They also provided delicious Aquas Fresca garnished with mint: the perfect garden mocktail! To finish off the evening, I served the perfect pick-up dessert, a variety of delicious tarts from Tartalicious.
5. PROVIDE ACRYLIC DRINKWARE
Anytime you’re outdoors and especially if you’re near a pool, you never want to use glass drinkware. These beautiful Isabella tumblers, large beverage and wine

Thank you to BLK EYE Vodka, Juliska, Gracious Garlands, TIKI Brand, Lawson Event Rentals, Cabana Life, Sweet Caroline Designs. Tartalicious, Acrylic Sticks, Colleen Rothschild, Lilly Pulitzer and BarTaco for helping to style this event.
glasses from Juliska are perfect for any outdoor occasion. They are great for everyday use as well. At the bar, I also served my friend Gela Gallardo’s new Les Calans Rosé. Crisp and delicious...perfect for a summer soirée. Entertaining is my love language. Having friends and family in my home makes my heart sing! I truly hope these ideas inspire you to take a tip or two and host a garden party.

Alicia

ORGANIZING
BY VALERIE WOODOWNER NEAT METHOD DALLAS valerie@neatmethod.com neatmethod.com @neatmethod on Instagram
summer simplicity Follow these simple steps to get organized this summer in 15 minutes or less. FILES (BILLS, CONTRACTS, ETC.) Dealing with paper pile-up can be a daunting task and one that most people tend to put off. However, it is time to embrace the 21st century and go paperless! Thanks to those tech geniuses, we have an app for that called Scanner Pro. Since you already spend time on your phone, consider downloading the Scanner Pro app and start trimming down your files. That way your most important files are always at your fingertips! In 15 minutes, you can scan and file your paperwork away forever...yes forever! While scanning paperwork every night is simply unreasonable, you could spend 15 minutes locating a small box or bin to store your paperwork that needs to be scanned. When the bin is full, let the scanning begin!
GARAGE Sweep it out! Sweeping out your garage will force you to lift and move things that likely shouldn’t even be on the ground. When you sweep out your garage, you are less prone to use the space as a dumping ground for unwanted items. Oh, and for the displaced items, simply hang them. It doesn’t take long to put a couple of hooks in the wall and magically create a designated place for your tools, hose, rake, sports gear, shovels, etc.
TO-DO LIST Most people make to-do lists with their least desirable tasks last, yet it is proven that we are more productive when we get the hard jobs out of the way first. So, take 15 minutes to prioritize your list correctly with the most difficult and most important chore on top. Here’s the kicker: DON’T write it down.
78 IBB AT HOME
Instead, enter it into a notes app on your phone. The advantages are endless: You can access your list anywhere; you can share your ‘honey do list’ with your better half; you can work with coworkers or friends on the same list, and so on. Can you tell we love going paperless?
PHOTOS (PRINTS AND ONLINE) Our best advice is to sign up for a digital storage site (flickr, smug mug, picasa) – the 15 minutes it will take to get set up are invaluable compared to the possibility of your family memories being lost, damaged or corrupted on your personal computer. Once you pick your favorite site, create albums titled by event name and year. One huge time saver is also to create a miscellaneous (ex: summer2019) folder so that you don’t waste time creating a bunch of albums that only have a few images.
SHOES AND HANDBAGS You know that feeling of pure joy when you walk into your house at the end of a long day? You kick off your shoes, throw down your bag, plop yourself onto the sofa and the rest of your evening is whatever your heart desires! We love those nights! However, we recommend spending just 15 minutes of time before going to bed to put away the chaos from that day. Start by putting your shoes as well as any other family members’ shoes back in the closet or basket where they came from. Then empty out all the unnecessary content from your handbags. Remove receipts, wrappers, water bottles and kids’ snacks and toys. Your morning can be just as stress-free as coming home after a long day!
