TRANQUIL TEAL
Tranquil TEAL
TRANQUIL TEAL PAINT COLORS:
Tranquil Teal is a versatile and serene hue that can transform interior spaces with its calming and refreshing qualities. A blend of blue and green, it’s a harmonious color that is ideal for peaceful and inviting interiors.
To immerse yourself in Tranquil Teal, consider painting a room in this color. Softer tones can create a spa-like retreat, and bolder versions can exude more energy and vibrancy.
If you love the color but want less of a commitment, opt for tranquil teal accessories like cocktail table books, decorative boxes, and throws. Liven up a mostly neutral palette with accents of the soothing color by using pillows, lamps, or artwork.
PRO TIP: Always sample the paint in your space before diving in and painting the entire room. Just because it looks fabulous in your friend’s home, doesn’t mean it will look equally as stunning in yours. There are many factors which influence how paint looks in a space.
Follow our “Tranquil Teal" board on Pinterest for more inspiration on using this beautiful color in your home. pinterest.com/ibbdesign/ tranquilteal
Creating your home sanctuary can feel overwhelming at times. Stop. Breathe. You’ve got this. I’m a firm believer that your home should be all about you: your likes, loves, and adventures. Your story. I am here to help.
In this space, I opted for clean and classic neutrals layered with textures and different materials to create interest. I used black and warm woods to provide contrast and then layered in plants and flowers to soften and elevate. The personality of this client was brought in with art, books, and accessories.
An easy way to start is with the basics. Select quality pieces that are comfortable, scaled proportionately, and meet YOUR personal aesthetic. When in doubt, clean lines provide flexibility and longevity. If color is your thing, jump in and embrace it. If you prefer a more neutral palette, you can always bring in color (if you desire) with pillows, artwork, and other accents.
Once the key pieces are in place, it’s time to add your personality. Do you have favorite collections? Are you an avid reader? Traveler? Artist? Lover of found objects? Do you have favorite items passed down through your family? This is the opportunity to put your personal stamp on the space. Group your favorite pieces on tables, bookshelves, or consoles, paying attention to scale and proportion. Hang art that makes your heart smile or a mirror to brighten an area.
Think outside the box. Items do not need to match, but they should be having the same conversation—a common thread of color, lines, and vibe. Experiment and have fun. Again, this is your home.
Don’t forget that a room should answer to multiple senses: sight, scent, touch. Adding a candle and/or flowers can elevate the enjoyment of your space. Now, go have fun! 21 IBB AT HOME
Cohesive
Are you wondering how to decorate a bedroom with a nearby sitting area?
Tie the two areas together with a color flow. A unifying color is the navy in the bedding on the bed and
pillows and in the sitting area. Navy is carried throughout the pillows and chairs. The secondary colors used as accents in both areas are plum, lavender, pink, light blue, and aqua. These colors are in print pillows, art, and accessories.
Special touches give this room a little bit of glamour and personality. The nightstands have mother-of-pearl knobs and picture frames. The lamps in the sitting area have a pearlized finish. The fronts of the lamps have pretty brass flowers, and the chandelier over the bed has beautiful blown glass flowers. The tic-tac-toe game board on the cocktail table has amethyst and cyanite game pieces.
Velvet fabrics are used throughout the two areas creating an elegant, luxurious feel on the bed, pillows, sofa, and chairs. The gallery wall of art shows off a collection of some of my favorite pieces - pathways that have me dreaming of adventures in nature and the butterflies that I see along the way!
Curve A P P E A L
BY JORY GATTIS, IBB DESIGNER & SALES MANAGER jory@ibbdesign.com@jorya.gattis on Instagram
After so many years of streamlined minimalism controlling the market, I’m having a blast bringing character back into pieces. As much as I love a fabulous arm or trim detail, nothing is as eye-catching as a unique silhouette!
Curved seating is by no means a new concept, and mid-century curved sofas and chaises can be found all over antique and vintage stores. While these profiles are sexy and super fun in just the right spaces, they can also read a bit kitschy or dare I say cheap, especially in a more open-concept home.
Thankfully, multiple furniture lines have taken inspiration and brought this vibe into the 21st century. They’ve not only upscaled these pieces for better ergonomics, but they’ve also brought in interesting details that make them attractive from all angles. A single curved chaise can be a beautiful addition to a bedroom or study, but a pair of large curved sofas can make an impact, as well. They can really cozy up a big space to create a more intimate chat area and can just as easily divide a space into more intimate areas.
Custom window treatments are a must have for today’s homes. Off-the-shelf, ready-made window solutions fall short of the design, look, and function we require. They are too narrow, never the correct length, and use generic fabrics.
Custom will offer color, texture, dimension, warmth, and personality to your living space. They will soften the harsh, bare, forgotten windows and incorporate them into the overall design of the room.
We offer custom length rods in gold, silver, and acrylic, as well as wood rods in a multitude of different wood

stains or any paint color you may choose. Power rods are also available. Styles of finials are endless, ranging from a simple ball or square to a faceted acrylic.
The window treatments shown are Powerview Hunter Douglas Luminettes®. They stack very neatly, are compact when they are open, and add warmth, soft texture, and privacy from the sun and the neighbors when they are closed. Since they are powered by a remote control, you can operate each window on a separate frequency or all together. I love this look!
Our designers at IBB will be with you from start to finish. We will help you select the style, fabric, type of lining, rods, hardware, finials, manufacturing, and installation. It’s a turnkey option and a one-stop shop.
We’ve got you covered!!
A small living room certainly has its challenges. When working with a long, narrow living space, capitalize on every square inch. Consider the following tricks that designers use to make your small space feel much larger than it really is:
Create defined spaces that break the space into dedicated areas, such as seating for guests to have lively conversations, a reading nook to curl up with a good book, and a small desk for your daily computer activities.
Lighting is important. Make sure each dedicated space has ample lighting. Add a chandelier with a dimmer switch in your living section for overall ambient lighting and add task lighting for your desk area and reading nook.
3
It is important not to use bulky furniture that is low to the floor because it will make the space feel smaller. Use furniture that is smaller in scale and sits up on legs to make the space feel roomier.
4
Opt for pieces that are made of glass or acrylic, as they will trick the eye into thinking the space is larger than it really is. For example: Use a glass coffee table and a desk with acrylic legs.
5
Ensure that you have ample space to walk through your room so that it is easy to navigate, yet still feels cozy and comfortable.
6
If your ceilings are low, add drapery panels that are hung closely to the ceiling line to create an illusion that your ceilings are taller than they really are.
JEWELRY FOR Your Home
BY SHANNON GIDNEY, IBB DESIGNER & VICE PRESIDENT OF SALES shannon@ibbdesign.com@designershannongidneyibb on Instagram
Photography by AD Media Group
Accessories are the jewelry of the home. They make a statement and are essential to bringing a space to the next level. While adding uniqueness to any room, accessories often reflect personal style and complete the overall design of a space. Accessories can be functional, such as bowls, vases, or even books.
While giving character to a room, accessories let you showcase your interests and personality. The special touches can often be great conversational pieces. Allow your items to be a blend of old and new to create a more curated look. They help tell your story, whether it be through artwork, soft goods, or pieces you have collected in your travels. They also help to interject color, pattern, and texture into spaces.
When displaying accessories, I like to create continuity by grouping like items or themed-type items together. Layering in varying heights adds interest and visual depth, while guiding the eye around the room. I focus on quality over quantity, as there needs to be space for the eye to rest and breathe. Achieving the proper balance will keep your space from looking too cluttered.
My favorite accessories are pillows. I love to incorporate textiles of various colors and textures; they really can bring life to the room. Mirrors, artwork, and lamps are close seconds, though.
One can transform a basic space into a lovely room with the perfect addition of accessories. Be sure to always budget for these items and don’t allow them to be an afterthought!
Transformative Texture!
BY MEGHAN SEBREN, IBB VISUAL MERCHANDISER meghan@ibbdesign.com | @meghansebren on Instagram by Dan Piassick | Meghan's Photo by AD Media GroupA lot of times we fall in love with a color and quickly realize that, while navy seems straightforward, there are more than a few different shades. You can take a picture, bring a fabric or paint swatch with you, but until everything is in the same environment, it can be hard to truly see if your pieces clash or blend beautifully.
The secret – texture! Texture is a great
way to blend all shades of the same color and add depth and dimension. Different textures work together like a filter in a way. The varying materials help catch light in a unique way and blend everything together. It produces an acquired look. In this case, grass cloth is applied to this chest and helps soften and enhance the beautiful red color, allowing it to blend, rather than
compete with the art.
A permanent botanical with your preferred color tones is also a great way to tie everything together; after all, nature goes with everything! You don’t want a room to look “matchy,” and changing up the materials is a great way to keep using the color you love in a different context.
PhotoSPEAKEASY Style
BY SHAY GEYER, IBB CEO & DESIGNER shay@ibbdesign.com | @designershay on InstagramRenderings by Daniel M.
We were beyond thrilled when a longtime favorite client approached us to redesign one of their downstairs spaces by combining their library and an adjacent bedroom into a swanky speakeasy.
The color palette for the speakeasy draws directly from the iconic “Abbey Road” painting, featuring primary hues of blue, red, and yellow. These bold colors set the stage for a lively, yet refined, atmosphere.
ChavezThe room is divided into two distinct areas: the bar and the lounge, each with its own character, harmoniously linked through design.
In the bar area, the walls are lacquered in Benjamin Moore’s Danube Bleu, a deep, sophisticated shade that
contrasts beautifully with the woodpaneled lounge. This rich blue sets a dramatic tone, which is perfect for an evening of entertainment.
The bar itself is a masterpiece, featuring stunning marble surfaces supported by custom brass legs. Arched cabinetry showcases an array of glassware and a curated selection of spirits. Custom brass shelving, suspended over antique mirrored panels, adds a touch of vintage glamour while enhancing the room’s depth and light.
A striking red piano stands proudly on the bar side, offering not just a visual statement but also the potential for impromptu musical performances. This vibrant piece ignites the energy in the room through color and adds a delightful element to the space.
For additional seating, a custom banquette upholstered in channeled blue velvet nestles in the corner, paired with another marble table. This setup is perfect for more intimate conversations or small gatherings within the larger party. Complementing the banquette are two brass and wood chairs upholstered in yellow velvet, providing both a pop of color and extra seating options. These chairs enhance the room’s color scheme and offer a luxurious yet comfortable seating experience for guests.
The lounge area exudes warmth and sophistication with stained wood paneling creating a rich, inviting backdrop. Here, four plush blue velvet swivel chairs encircle a luxurious marble cocktail table, encouraging relaxed conversation. A cast stone fireplace adds a touch of cozy ambiance and elegance. The fireplace not only warms the room, but also serves as a focal point, drawing guests into the heart of the lounge.
No speakeasy would be complete without exquisite lighting. In this design, lighting truly serves as the jewelry of the room, adding both sparkle and sophistication. Elegant sconces and chandeliers cast a warm, inviting glow, enhancing the room's luxurious feel and highlighting the rich colors and textures throughout the space. These lighting elements are carefully chosen to complement the overall design, adding both functionality and aesthetic beauty.
We look forward to revealing the transformation to you. Follow the progress on social media for sneak peeks and details @ibbdesign @designershay.

My favorite type of environment to create is one that feels collected. Starting with the neutral and textural grasscloth walls, I knew I had to inject color. It’s no surprise that the green sofa was my next choice. With pops of teal and a bold tiger print in the pillows, this space is anything but boring. A large-scale landscape painting in a burlwood frame sets the color story for the room, and flanking that with small scale modern art pieces tones things down a bit. I love anything that feels
like it could have come from overseas, so a collection of chinoiserie jars on table tops and hand painted lamps on the side tables scratched that itch!
To create a moody and masculine vibe, I chose to interject black pieces accented with gold. If you look closely at the desk, it features a leather inlay top with hand-painted gold Greek key striping. The chest between the windows is hand painted with gold striping and showcases a fluted detail on the drawers. A large mirror above
reflects the opposite side of the room, showcasing a stunning burlwood display cabinet adorned with books, more chinoiserie planters, and collected items. Next to the cabinet is a set of Louis XVI-inspired armchairs, with a pair of teal jars overhead resting on modern acrylic wall sconces.
A stunning banana bark cocktail table set in a herringbone pattern offers a place to showcase cocktail table books by some of my favorite interior designers and provides a place to set your drink. On either side, the most luxurious pair of Mongolian fur chairs with a burlwood arm sits atop an imported Moroccan wool rug. Overall, I am so happy with how this space turned out! To me, it feels like a moody men’s cocktail lounge filled with items that have been collected over time and showcased in a way that feels rich and exciting.
IBB's Signature Bed Style
We’ve all seen the beds in magazines and showrooms that look absolutely delightful, yet completely unattainable at home. Some people like tons of decorative pillows, while some need several blankets to sleep under. No matter your preference, follow these easy steps to making your bed not only picture perfect, but functional, too.
Photography by Dan Piassick Product Photography by AD Media#1 – Sheets
Sheets are perhaps the most important linen investment. You spend a lot of time in your bed, so do not compromise on your sheets. Invest in three sets (one for the bed, one for the hamper, and one set for the linen closet) and wash and rotate regularly. Good quality sheets soften with each wash and only get more luxurious with time. We recommend white or ivory sheets as they clean the easiest and are the perfect backdrop for any bedding.
#3 – Duvet/Foot Warmer
What is a duvet? Duvets are the bed cover casing that you can put an insert in such as down or down alternative. It allows you to truly customize the type and weight of bedding that works for you. You can drape this over the foot of your bed for decoration during the day in those warmer months and use it as your main bedding cover in the colder ones.
#2- Coverlet
Texas isn’t the coldest state, so it makes sense to have a light blanket or coverlet as a staple on your bed. Layering on top of your flat sheet makes it easy to keep cozy on nights that aren’t super chilly. Always make sure your coverlet is washable and won’t snag if you have fur babies join you in bed.
#5 – The Complete Bed
Because there are just a few key components to making a luxurious bed, it’s important to note that each piece should be good quality and, more important, make you smile. When we go on vacation, we want our room to relax us, give us peace of mind, and make us feel pampered and special. We don’t need to go to a resort to get that feeling – we can achieve that in our own bedrooms every night.
#4 – Euro Shams and Pillows
This is the stage where a lot of opinions come into play - no pillows or extra pillows? Euro shams are the square pillows propped in front of your sleeping pillows and are the perfect size for providing extra support when you need it. They can be a nuisance when making your bed every morning but come in handy when lounging in bed reading or watching TV. Keep them in a handy storage container under your bed for easy access.
Photography by Dan PiassickBalance and Harmony:Understanding the RULE OF THIRDS in Interior Design
THREE is the magic number, and the Rule of Thirds is a magical guiding principle in our world. It’s become so embedded in the fabric of design that we often overlook its influence. Used by photographers, painters, architects, illustrators, cinematographers, and even in Mother Nature herself, the aesthetics and details of this rule have a profound impact on everyday life.
So, what is the Rule of Thirds? Dating back to the Ancient Greeks, the golden mean is a mathematical structural
BY RITA SKAGERBERG, IBB VISUAL MERCHANDISER rita@ibbdesign.comPhotography by AD Media
device based on the patterns of nature and has been used by artists and designers for centuries. Essentially, it states that when a line or space is divided into thirds, the human eye prefers groupings of three or other odd numbers, which makes the result more pleasing and natural, rather than breaking it up into halves or quarters. Visually, we process information through recognition and pattern, with three being the smallest number to create a repetitive composition.
Imagine the grid lines on your phone’s camera; the Rule of Thirds is a similar guideline that divides a frame into three sections, placing objects in the left, right, or center to create a balanced, visually-compelling image.
I use this particular concept in my design work almost daily as a visual merchandiser at IBB. By applying it to the scale of items in the space or the actual pieces of furniture or the number of accessories, I’ve seen firsthand how the power of three can
transform spaces. It makes it easier to anchor the space, as there is always a center to work from. A vignette on a bookshelf, a trio of pillows on a loveseat, three pieces of art; each of these groupings adds an allure that’s both striking and harmonious.
Not sure where to begin? Start small with your cocktail table or etagere. Arrange items in a series of three with varying heights, shapes, and textures to add interest. The components can be a trio of vases, a stack of coffee table books, and a meaningful decorative object. Play with the arrangement until it looks good to you. On a bed, toss three pillows. Behind your headboard, hang
three pieces of art. In your garden, or plant three colors of flowers. The options are endless! The items don’t have to be matching either. In fact, the more variety, heights, sizes textures, tones, the better. Introducing three of anything allows you to create a pattern without any restraints to keep everything the same. There is freedom in the power of three, which is both beautiful and memorable.
Remember: the rule of thirds is just a guideline and shouldn't be adhered to mechanically, as the eye will often produce a better alternative to the grid approach. However, it can be a useful tool to help bring balance when a layout or space just isn't
working, especially in those first few projects where you may come across a challenge in getting the balance just right.
The rule of thirds can be a designer’s magic charm, an assurance of balance and beauty in any design venture. So, the next time you’re contemplating how to style a console, what to put in front of your dining room windows, or even how to make your game room look more sophisticated, don’t forget the power of three! Using the rule of thirds adds visual depth and simply makes a space more satisfying to look at and live in. It's like a designer's cheat sheet. You really can’t go wrong—it's scientifically proven!
WHAT’S A GREATDesign Tip?
MAKE IT WARM.
The interior design world is witnessing a significant shift toward warm tones, emphasizing coziness and natural beauty. This resurgence brings back the charm of woods and burls and a preference for warm whites over stark whites and cool greys. The use of warm whites, natural woods, and cozy textures fosters a sense of wellbeing and tranquility. This trend reflects a broader desire for interiors that offer a retreat from the outside world, emphasizing comfort and connection with nature.

ADD APPEAL WITH WAVY SCALLOPS.
Wavy, scalloped shapes have been gaining popularity in interior design for their unique, whimsical appeal and versatility. They add a touch of elegance and playfulness to various elements, from wall coverings and tiles to furniture and accessories. I'm seeing this wavy shape with fun color combinations or prints, adding a layer of texture and visual interest. This versatility allows scallop patterns to fit seamlessly into both contemporary and traditional design schemes.

KITCHEN
Welcome to Mosaic! We invite you to experience the first of four IBB-designed model homes featured in this gorgeous Celina neighborhood. We decided to introduce ourselves to our neighbors with classic IBB style, embracing traditional elements with splashes of maximalist pattern and color.
We love this shaker-style backsplash mixed with bright whites and light woods. With ample storage and an oversized island, this kitchen is perfect for hosting a housewarming party!
DINING
The Dining Room features custom King Louis chairs and a hand-knotted rug in a symphony of traditional patterns. We grounded the space with a warm-toned wood dining table. Cheerful color adorns the tabletop and tells the story of this happy home.
Our color scheme started with bright blues and greens, and we couldn’t resist adding a pop of sunshine yellow. We strategically splashed the yellow into pillows and our study desk chair to catch the eye throughout the living spaces of the home.
DINING ROOM & Desk AREA
Enhanced with pastel-colored pillows and a green performance fabric window seat, the dining nook works as both a place for extra seating and a place to relax. We optimized the area in this open concept room with a clean-lined desk and yellow leaf-patterned chair to create a multi-functional workspace.
LIVING Room
Our family room design began with this stunning French curved cocktail table. We mixed it with a modern straight-lined sofa and custom chairs in a blue ticking stripe to complete this elevated and cozy look. The stunning two-story drapes in soft blue create a grounded backdrop for our various shapes and colors.
PRIMARY BEDROOM & Bath
A whimsical spindle-post, four-poster bed is elegant beneath the canopy of soothing blue. We treated the soaring ceiling with shiplap painted in Sherwin Williams Stardew and crisp white beams.
UPSTAIRS Loft
The theme of our loft is “playful”! Color-blocked drapes, polka-dots and stripes on pillows, and yellow gumdrop ottomans bring the F-U-N to this play space.
MEDIA Room
We brought all our favorite four-legged friends to watch movies with us in this entertainment room. These adorable green swivel chairs add another layer of fun to the room and make it multi-functional. Whether enjoying a movie or chatting with your book club, you can’t help but smile and relax in this comfy room.
SECONDARY Bedrooms
Secondary bedrooms are a wonderful opportunity to bring personality to a home. We created a fresh and cheerful guest bedroom and two amazing kids’ rooms. For our kids’ rooms, we took inspiration from some of our childhood favorites: a fairytale day at the fair and a room perfect for Woody and all his pals!
PATIO
Since a patio is an extension of a home, we dressed this one with a delightful garden table and chairs with bright green cushions. Matching white wrought iron lounge chairs complete this cheerful look.
Model Home
The sprawling community of Elyson in Katy, Texas, is truly a gem of familyoriented amenities, with two on-site elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school. It is surrounded with walking trails and is perched on a 31-acre lake.
The third model in a trio we curated for the neighborhood, this home is the crowning jewel. Our Design Team developed the home’s identity based on the foundation of quiet luxury.

Foyer & Dining
Upon entering the home, you are greeted with a color palette of warm neutrals in creams, whites, natural wood, and mixed metals. Elegant paneling in Sherwin Williams Shoji White frames the foyer.
The dining room features textured chairs and an elegant tabletop with a sprawling orchid arrangement.
Great Room
A brand-new luxury floorplan by Highland Homes, the Varese’s open concept is a designer’s dream. Each element of the home provides another layer to build on, and we began this journey with a herringbone-patterned hardwood floor.
The impressively large Great Room’s ceiling is adorned with beams of warm wood and gold chandeliers. Set upon rugs of gold and silver swirls, the oversized sofa and chair are inviting and comfortable.
The floor-to-ceiling fireplace in Calacatta porcelain is flanked by beautiful built-ins. Drapery in patterned caramel gives personality to the grandness.
Chef's Kitchen
Taj Mahal marble with gorgeous taupe, caramel, and cream movement stretches over the expansive countertops and backsplash. Enjoy creating your favorite delicacies in the luxury kitchen with a multi-burner range oven with gold pot-filler and cream SILGRANIT® sink. The cabinets are a monochromatic combination of warm-stained wood and Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige. We topped the cabinets with jewelry of gold cabinet hardware for an elegant pop.
Kitchen Nook & Workspace
The Varese offers so many amazing built-ins, including a lovely hutch adjacent to the sunny breakfast nook and a planning desk off of the kitchen. Whether entertaining, planning your family’s next vacation, or doing homework, there is a place for everyone in this floorplan.
Primary Bedroom & Bath
The inspiration for our Primary Suite came from the gorgeous marble featured in the spa-like bathing room. Its subtle hues of rust and pink peak through the Carrera marble. We carried this sunset color into the bedroom in the velvet bedding and drapery. Phillip Jeffries grasscloth covers the walls in luxurious texture and warmth.
Secondary Bedrooms
This floorplan features four spacious secondary bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. We LOVE that the Primary Bedroom and first Secondary Bedroom are on the first floor.
Heading upstairs, you will find one bedroom has been transformed into an inspiring Yoga Room. Custom detailed painting on the walls and velvet drapery take this workout space to the next level.
Each of these bedrooms is befitted in custom neutral bedding and textures, with nods to the local golf community and couture fashion adding splashes of personality.
Game & Media Rooms
The media room in this floorplan is directly off the foyer, so instead of going with what has become a traditionally dark color palette for a movie room, we decided to change it up, bringing the Shoji White paneling into the media room. The textured and leather pillows speak to the equestrian art. What a lovely, light, and cozy place to relax!
The upstairs Game Room shows off a stylish “Dry Bar,” perfect for serving your favorite cocktails to friends. Play games, play pool, or chat with your book club in this bright and happy space.
Study
With the Varese floorplan having so many rooms to eat, drink, and be merry with all of your loved ones, it’s nice to offer a room of calm tranquility. This sophisticated study is styled to perfection with elegance and character.
Want to turn heads? We did! We featured the piece of art, “Elk in the Room,” on the façade of the study shelves as a surprising focal point.
Patio & Outdoor Dining

The combination of natural rugs, cozy teak furniture, and a fireplace literally expand your dining and living spaces to an outside paradise. Suitcase:
Remember, your guest room isn't just a place to sleep; it's a temporary home. Clear out some space by relocating currently stored items, ensuring your guests have room to unpack. A few empty hangers in the closet can be a game-changer, and dedicating a drawer for folded items allows your guests to truly settle in.
Flying? Master the Art of the Carry-On: Flying? Master the Art of the Carry-On: Ditch the baggage claim wait by opting for a carry-on. Overwhelmed imagining how you’ll fit everything? The answer: compression packing cubes. These little wonders not only save space but also keep items organized, making unpacking at your destination a breeze.

Road trips have their own packing challenges, from ensuring everything fits to maintaining a clutterfree environment. Consider additional car storage solutions like a roof box to free up trunk space. Additionally, a divided car organizer inside can keep essentials within arm's reach, while a dedicated trashcan prevents the inevitable accumulation of snack wrappers.
SUMMERSoirée 2024
BY SHAY GEYER, IBB CEO & DESIGNER shay@ibbdesign.com | @designershay on InstagramWe’ve been vacationing on 30A for nearly 17 years now. Hosting friends and family is our favorite thing to do while we’re there. My husband and I, both passionate about cooking, decided to collaborate with our friends at Marrow Private Chefs for this particular summer soirée. We crafted a stunning menu, and I channeled my energy into the tablescape and décor.
Setting the table is a true joy for me, and this event was no exception. I drew inspiration from the mesmerizing sunsets at the beach, creating a color palette that encapsulated the warm, golden hues and serene blues of the evening sky. Our cast concrete table paired with French bistro-style chairs gives me a blank slate to have some fun with the tablescape anytime we entertain. The table was adorned with hydrangea arrangements that added bursts of color and elegance. Colored stemware sparkled in the evening light, enhancing the overall aesthetic. Each place setting featured simple white plates and white napkins embroidered in blue with a lobster motif, finished with scalloped edges and held together by starburst napkin rings. These small details added a whimsical touch to the sophisticated atmosphere.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over our gathering, the ambiance we created— marrying exquisite cuisine with a beautifully set table— truly captured the essence of a perfect summer evening on 30A. All of the details made for an unforgettable soirée, celebrating the joy of hosting and the beauty of shared moments with friends.

FLOURLESS CHOCOLATE TORTE
By MARROW Private Chefs @marrowprivatechefs on Instagram marrowprivatechefs.comINGREDIENTS:
• 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
• 8 tablespoons unsalted butter at room temperature
• 3/4 cup granulated sugar
• 1/4 teaspoon table salt
• 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
• 3 large eggs
• 1/2 cup Dutch-process cocoa
FOR TOPPING:
• 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips or bittersweet chocolate chips
• 1/2 cup heavy cream
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
2. Lightly grease a metal 8" round cake pan; cut a piece of parchment to fit, grease it, and lay it in the bottom of the pan.
TO MAKE THE CAKE:
1. Put the chocolate and butter in a microwave-safe bowl, and heat until the butter is melted and the chips are soft. Stir until the chips melt, reheating briefly if necessary.
2. Transfer the melted chocolate/butter to a mixing bowl.
3. Stir in the sugar, salt, and vanilla.
4. Add the eggs, beating briefly until smooth.
5. Add the cocoa powder, and mix just to combine.
6. Spoon the batter into the prepared pan.
7. Bake the cake for 25 minutes; the top will have formed a thin crust.
8. It should register at least 200°F on an instantread thermometer inserted into its center.
9. Remove it from the oven, and cool it in the pan for 5 minutes.
10. Loosen the edges of the pan with a table knife and turn it out onto a serving plate.

12. Allow the cake to cool completely before glazing.

1. Place the chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
2. Heat the cream until it's not quite at a simmer, but showing fine bubbles around the edge.
3. Pour the cream over the chocolate; stir very briefly to combine, and let rest for 5 minutes. Stir again — at first slowly, then more vigorously — until the chocolate is completely melted and the glaze is smooth.
4. Spoon the glaze over the cake, spreading it to drip over the sides a bit. Allow the glaze to set for several hours before serving the cake.
FOR SERVICE:
1. Slice and top with whipped cream and fresh raspberry.

BLT GRILLED CHEESE BITES
PREP TIME: 20 MIN. | COOK TIME: 15 MIN. MAKES: 24 BITES
INGREDIENTS:
Special Sauce:
• 1/2 cup mayonnaise
• 1 tablespoon bread-and-butter pickle juice
• 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
• 1 tablespoon honey
• 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
• 1 teaspoon onion powder
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
• 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Sandwiches:
• 6 slices bacon, for topping
• 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened, divided
• 8 slices soft white bread
• 6 slices deluxe American cheese (1.5 slices per sandwich)
• 24 leaves butter leaf lettuce, for topping
• 8 cherry tomatoes, sliced into 3 thin slices crosswise, for topping
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. To make the special sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together all the sauce ingredients until well combined.
2. To make the BLT grilled cheese sandwiches: Cook the bacon so that it is crispy yet still soft enough to fit easily onto a food pick without breaking. Cut each slice of cooked bacon into 4 pieces that are about 1.5 inches long.
3. Spread some butter on one side of each slice of bread. Heat a large griddle or skillet over medium-low heat. Add 1 teaspoon of butter to the skillet and let melt. Place a slice of bread, buttered side down, over the melted butter and top with 1 1/2 slices of cheese and another slice of bread, buttered side up. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes on each side, until the cheese melts and the bread is golden brown on the outside. Remove from the pan and let the sandwich set for a few minutes before cutting it into 6 pieces that are about 1.5 inches square. Repeat with the remaining butter, bread slices, and cheese slices.
4. To assemble: Place 1/2 teaspoon of special sauce on top of each grilled cheese bite; then add a piece of bacon, a folded leaf of lettuce, and a slice of cherry tomato. Press a food pick down into the center of the tomato slice all the way through the grilled cheese to hold everything together.
5. Serve with the remaining special sauce.

FROZEN STRAWBERRY LEMONADE DAQUIRI SWIRL
PREP TIME: 15 MIN. | MAKES: 2 DRINKS
INGREDIENTS:
Strawberry Daiquiri:
• 2 ounces (60 ml) white rum
• 1 ounce (30 ml) fresh lime juice
• 1/2 ounce (15 ml) simple syrup
• 1/2 cup (75 g) fresh or frozen strawberries
• 1/2 cup ice
Lemonade Daiquiri:
• 2 ounces (60 ml) white rum
• 1 and 1/2 ounces (45 ml) fresh lemon juice
• 1/2 ounce (15 ml) limoncello
• 1 ounce (30 ml) simple syrup
• 1 cup ice
Garnishes:
• 1 strawberry, halved
• 2 lemon wedges
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Prepare each flavor of daiquiri separately by adding all ingredients to a clean blender and blending until smooth. Keep the first one in the freezer while you make the other one.
2. Pour half of one flavor of frozen daiquiri into a small coupe or hurricane glass; then add half of the other frozen daiquiri, swirling as you pour. Use a cocktail stirrer to swirl a little more once both blended daiquiris are in the glass. Repeat in a second glass with the remaining daiquiris.
3. Garnish each drink with half of a strawberry and a lemon wedge, if desired.
Note: To turn this sip into a mocktail, leave out the rum and limoncello. Because of the reduced amount of liquid, it will make only one sip, not two.
