PRO TIP: Always sample the paint in your space before diving in and painting the entire room. Just because it looks fabulous in your friend’s home, doesn’t mean it will look equally as stunning in yours. There are many factors which influence how paint looks in a space.

GETTING BOLD WITH Wallpaper

Wallpaper is something that people have strong feelings about. They either love it or hate it, but no one can deny it transforms a space. We have evolved from traditional wallpaper to peel and stick paper and even murals. Modern papers are designed specifically for easy removal, so you don’t need to stress about committing to a style way past its expiration date. You can go bold without worrying you’ll hate it in a few years. Wallpaper is an excellent tool to make your space look different without making any architectural changes. It can revamp your area in the following ways:

• Aesthetics – Papers with a vertical pattern can make a room look much taller as it draws the eye up. Alternatively, horizontal patterns can make a room look wider. Papers that are neutral or are metallic can make a room look bigger.

• Interest - Wallpaper is a great way to add interest to a wall in areas where you can’t hang more art. In homes with a lot of wall

space, it can be a challenge to address every wall, and paper provides a cleaner look with just as much interest.

• Depth - Don’t just look at patterns! Adding textured wallpaper, such as grasscloth, will add depth to a room making it welcoming and inviting. Even a solid color can make a space feel different.

• Statement – Murals are an amazing way to add customization to your home. Is there a favorite landscape you love of a country you visited? Make it into a mural and have that memory stay with you every time you pass by it.

Tips to consider:

• If you have walls with a lot of imperfections, high quality, thick paper is the way to go.

• When hung properly, wallpaper can last three times longer than paint.

• Use bold, fun patterns in small spaces such as pantries, the back of built-in bookshelves, or a mud or laundry room.

I’ve been working with a client to create a usable space in her attic to house a golf simulator and sitting area. Standing in the space for the first time, I immediately felt inspired by the unique shape of the sloped ceiling. I thought to myself, “This would be the coziest place to have a sitting room!” Although we won’t have room to use her space exactly in this way, I knew I wanted to flesh out the ideas that were rushing into my brain.

I’ve really been leaning into the renaissance of classic

style lately, mostly because it has been my go-to for my own aesthetic for most of my life. There are certain fabric and wallpaper patterns you see used repeatedly. Some might shy away from that. I, on the other hand, have been itching to use some of those patterns for years, so I realized, “This is my chance! I’m going to take this unfinished attic space, drape it in one of my favorite patterns from Pierre Frey, and roll from there.” I spend many hours flipping through pages of cocktail table books by my favorite designers, and most of them have used these and various other patterns from textile companies like Schumacher, Pierre Frey, and Cowtan and Tout in some way in several projects. Who am I to call it boring?

That tangent aside, let’s walk through this room together.

Immediately upon landing at the top of the stairs, the first space you walk into is a corner. That corner has been taken up by a vibrant and inviting green velvet settee that is begging to be sat upon. Trimmed in a new twist on Greek key, this piece is dotted with pillows of various complementary shades like soft pink and vibrant

yellow, each showcasing its own unique trim details. Above it rests art in antique gold frames, flanked by the most stunning and simple sconces of brass and yellow silk.

Directly in front of the settee is a gorgeous burl wood and brass inlaid cocktail table: the perfect spot on which to set your glass of wine or book before dozing off on the settee. Opposite this table is a pair of channel-back chairs covered in a classic Schumacher pattern that always reminds me of the beautiful shape of dried coral. They sit slightly lower than normal, which I find very comfortable for conversation. You don’t always need huge furniture to fill up a room. Very often, using smaller furniture in more groupings is more inviting. If you look closely, you’ll see a beautiful curve detail at the front of the seat and little pin-drop feature at the top of each leg.

Over the black marble fireplace, I selected one of my favorite mirrors that I’m lucky enough to have in my own home. Its temple-shaped frame features a tortoise shell eglomise finish, which is created by hand painting glass and using the reverse side as the front. It is sadly discontinued, but I think it adds the perfect flair to this room! I flanked this mirror with a larger version of the same brass and silk sconces from across the room.

To the left of the fireplace is a chaise lounge covered in the same fabric as accent pillows on the settee. You might notice a trend of repeating materials, a favorite trick to bring continuity to your space. Off

to one side is a Mouile floor lamp that provides perfect light for reading and a tiger pin shell inlaid garden stool as a place to set your glasses. I love the juxtaposition of these items together, all coming from different periods and combining to enhance this reading corner.

Everyone loves a card game, or these days mahjong! To the right of the fireplace is a game table and bamboo chairs, also covered in one of the pillow fabrics from across the room. The table features pullout drink holders on each corner and beautiful white oak and brass details.

Simple window treatments of reeded bamboo add texture to the dormers and beautifully filter light when closed. Softening the wooden floors is a custom-cut seagrass rug, a classic choice and one that is inviting for bare feet. An antique inspired lamp table featuring various accessories that feel collected rounds out the corner just behind the main sitting area. An antique style chest of drawers between each dormer provides storage for glassware, blankets, and favorite magazines and books.

Overall, I love how this space turned out! It is full of classic and often-used patterns and textile companies, yes… but, as I always say, “if you love it, it never goes out of style!”

Small Spaces BIG IDEAS!

With more clients downsizing or acquiring second homes in high-rises and townhomes, I’ve embraced the challenge of maximizing function and style in tighter spaces. Though it was a bit daunting at first, I've grown to love it!

Many homes I've worked in have at least one or two leftover spaces the builder labeled as “bonus rooms” or “flex spaces.” These often become awkward offices or junk rooms filled with leftover furniture. What a waste! These rooms can be fabulously unique and incredibly functional spaces. Much like powder baths, their petite and somewhat secluded nature encourages clients to go bold and have fun with the design.

In a recent project in a three-story townhome, I found a similar opportunity. Here are three fantastic

ways I transformed a primarily unused study with an existing built-in and two points of entry:

Option 1 - Media/Gaming Room

Given this space is on the third floor next to the primary bedroom, my initial thought was an intimate media room, perfect for gamers too! I chose a masculine and moody color palette to create a cozy, immersive experience.

Sticking with mid-century aesthetics, I used multifunctional sections. The ottoman and accent table can easily be rearranged, and the sofa houses a trundle bed, turning the space into a guest room when needed. The built-in desk adds extra workspace and storage!

Option 3 - Game Room

This wasn't my first time creating a mahjong room, and it won't be my last! Here, I went classic and whimsical, starting with botanical wallpaper featuring pops of olive green. I extended this theme to the ceiling with coordinating grasscloth.

A central game table and chairs make a fabulous gaming space. By swapping out the workstation for a built-in dry bar, the room can double as a wine room or a cozy hangout spot. Playing with textures and patterns, I love how cozy and inviting this room feels!

Option 2 - Collaborative Workspace

Many of us end up working at the kitchen island or on the sofa while the study goes unused. This reimagined workspace is perfect for two or more. Despite the cozy space, it comfortably houses an 84” partner desk with plenty of room to spread out.

We replaced the built-in desk with a bookshelf featuring hidden storage at the bottom, perfect for a printer or files. This concept works for every family member, including the furry ones.

A primary suite is more than just a bedroom; it's a sanctuary, a personal retreat where comfort and style meet. The art of creating a luxurious primary suite begins in the thoughtful layering of elements that contribute to both aesthetics and functionality. Let’s explore the various layers that make up this ultimate space.

The first layer of any luxurious primary suite begins with its architectural design and layout. High ceilings, large windows, and an open floorplan can make the space feel expansive and airy. Thoughtful placement of walls, doors, and windows enhances natural light flow, creating a serene environment.

The bed is the centerpiece of the primary suite, both in terms of visual impact and comfort.

A king-sized bed with a plush, upholstered headboard immediately signals luxury. High-thread-count sheets, a down comforter, and a plethora of pillows add layers of comfort.

A luxurious primary suite often includes a seating area designated for relaxation. It

can range from a cozy reading nook with an overstuffed chair and ottoman to a full-fledged living area with a loveseat or chaise lounge.

The final layer in creating a luxurious primary suite is the décor and accessories. Thoughtful choices of artwork, area rugs, and motorized window treatments can elevate the room’s style. Personal touches like fresh flowers, decorative trays, and scented candles add warmth and character.

Finally, the most luxurious primary suites are those that reflect the personal style and preferences of their owners. Whether it’s a color palette that soothes your senses, artwork that inspires, or custom furniture that fits your lifestyle, personalization is key. Tailoring the space to meet your specific needs ensures that the primary suite is uniquely yours, and, in this custom suite I designed, provides plenty of hiding nooks for the family’s adorable feline companion to live luxuriously alongside its humans.

FINISHING TOUCHES:

The Secret to a Room That Truly Wows

As designers, one of the most common concerns we hear when a client first reaches out to us is, “The room just isn’t coming together.” While they may already have the foundational elements — furniture, rugs, and lighting — something still feels incomplete. The secret to creating a truly finished, luxurious space is in the details. These finishing touches—accessories, specialty paints, wallpapers, fabrics, and textures— transform a welldesigned room into a masterpiece. These elements not only tie everything together, but also infuse the space with personality and emotion, reflecting how you want to feel every time you walk into the room.

Take, for example, a recent project where I used Sherwin-Williams Naval for the walls. This deep, moody hue set the tone for the room, giving it a rich and grounded feel. To balance its strength, I layered softer blues in the furniture and fabrics and then added a touch of yellow for unexpected pops of energy and vibrancy. The depth

of the wall color allows the artwork and window treatments to truly shine, turning them into focal points that draw the eye and spark conversation. Accessories are equally powerful in achieving a finished look. They serve as the “jewelry” of the space, bringing personality and depth. Think thoughtfully curated collections, sculptural pieces, or books with personal meaning. These items shouldn’t just fill a shelf — they should tell a story. And don’t underestimate the power of texture; incorporating elements like woven baskets, velvety pillows, or a cozy throw can add layers of comfort and luxury.

The finishing details are where the magic happens. They’re what take a room from simply functional to stunningly unforgettable. With the right mix of color, texture, and accessories, your space can tell a story that’s uniquely yours.

So, the next time your room feels like something’s missing, take a closer look at the details. The right finishing touches could be the key to making it all come together.

I recently had the pleasure of designing a bedroom for a long-time friend—a project close to my heart! Having collaborated with this wonderful family on previous projects, including her chic college dorm room, I was thrilled to take on her new space in an adorable offcampus home she shares with roommates. As the family behind Couture Lamps, one of our vendor partners at IBB, they understand the importance of exceptional design details. Naturally, we had access to the most fabulous lighting to elevate the space.

Here are four tips we used to create a stylish, functional, and personalized room for this college girl:

1. Choose a Bold Color Palette:

We began with a bright and energizing palette of sky blue and grassy green. These fresh hues bring a cheerful vibe to the room, perfect for a young, vibrant personality. We balanced the bold colors with crisp whites and warm wood tones to keep the space fresh and polished.

2. Incorporate a Desk & Workspace:

A college student needs a functional spot for studying, so we added a painted sky-blue desk and chair beside her bed. A glass top helps with durability on the painted surface. Task lighting from Couture Lamps not only

ensures proper illumination, but also adds a touch of elegance. The workspace feels cohesive with the rest of the room and strikes the perfect balance between practicality and style.

3. Optimize the Space for Functionality:

We placed a pair of chic burl wood ottomans at the foot of the bed, offering extra seating for friends or roommates. A nightstand on one side of the bed provides

easy access to essentials, while a four-door cabinet adds ample storage. Topped with a pair of Couture Lamps, the cabinet is both functional and stunning.

4. Add Personal Touches:

To make the room feel uniquely hers, we styled the space with framed photos, school memorabilia, and

sorority keepsakes. A stunning original piece of art serves as the centerpiece of the room, tying the color palette together while adding a sophisticated touch.

The result? A thoughtfully designed retreat that combines function, personality, and style—perfect for this next chapter in her college journey!

WHAT’S A GREAT Design Tip?

PERFECT PILLOWS

Let’s break this down – What is an insert? An insert is the actual stuffing that goes inside of a pillow. Everything from a sofa throw pillow to a Euro sham on a bed has an insert in it.

Here’s what to know:

Types – There are down inserts that are down duck feathers, and alternative blends are available if you are allergic. Alternative blends will be firmer, and the down inserts will be soft and give you that pillow “chop.”

Your pillow insert should be 2” wider than your pillowcase/ sham to account for the width. If your casing is 30,” you need a 32” insert.

• If you prefer a softer look, you can shave an inch off your insert. If you’d like a firmer one, add an inch.

BRING ON THE FUN

Opt for a gaming table like a pool table, ping pong table, shuffleboard, or foosball to create a focal point that encourages social interaction and entertainment. All these tables can be designed to fit seamlessly with any room's aesthetic – and can even be custom designed to personalize your space. In addition, gaming tables are versatile and multi-functional. When not in use, some often double as a dining table or a stylish piece that complements the overall design. Whether you're hosting a game night or relaxing with friends, a game table transforms your game room into a destination where friends and family can connect.

ADD A HOST CHAIR

Often overlooked in redecorating plans, your dining room can be easily refreshed with just a few thoughtful updates.

Consider adding a pair of host and hostess chairs at the head and foot of your dining table to introduce texture and visual interest. Opt for a bold print or classic stripe in a fabric that reflects your favorite colors and personal style. This simple yet effective change can give your dining room a new vibe, creating a more inviting and dynamic atmosphere for entertaining.

HAVE A WINTER DÉCOR MAKEOVER

When it’s cold outside and inside activities are a must, the winter gives way for a little winter décor makeover.

• Add some hide or Tibetan lamb fur pillows or a faux fur throw to your sofa for the cozy texture and feel.

• Lay a hide rug under a writing table for a textural accent.

• Update your fireplace mantle with foliage in warm, earthy hues of reds, oranges, yellows, browns, and greens.

• Mix in some plaid accessories like trays, boxes, or art.

When designing a model home, our goal is always to create a feeling that flows throughout the design, draws guests in, and makes a memorable impression. We call it “making moments.”

This design weaves elegance and organic textures together in a balance of comfort and luxury. We established the mood immediately with a cozy seating area off of the foyer and a show-stopping feature wall of soaring cream stone and a stunning mirror.

Study

Neutral palettes can still be incredibly dynamic. It’s all about CONTRAST. The floor-to- ceiling bookcase in dark wood is complemented with walls in a lightly textured wallpaper and Calacatta marble floors. The dark leather desk grounds the space. Every piece in this gorgeous study has texture.

Kitchen

Our Chef’s Kitchen features cabinets in dark wood contrasted by the dramatic waterfall island and backsplash in Forza Vicostone. Subtle gold accents in the cabinet hardware and barstools are just the right elegant touches.

Powder Bath

Powder baths are amazing places to feature a patterned wallpaper. This gorgeous botanical silhouette paper in metallic gold is bold and beautiful in a small space.

Dining Room

Enjoy the art of entertaining with a built-in hutch for easy access to your favorite wine glasses. We selected an oval table in dark wood with gold touches as the base for our dining space. Mixing round edges into any rectangular space softens the look of a room.

Our table is bedecked in shimmering chargers, cream, white, gold, and natural stone geodes.

Living Room

The Family Room features a stone fireplace to correspond with our entry feature wall. We surrounded a fabulously oversized cocktail ottoman with four stylish chairs in a fun leopard print.

DESIGN TIP: Notice that in each room there are green plants that bring vibrance and life to our neutral color scheme. Greenery is always good!

Primary Bedroom

The vision for the Primary Bedroom was to create a graceful sanctuary of relaxation. We paneled the bedroom walls in a soft Shoji White by Sherwin-Williams and added a contrasting color to the ceiling (Black Fox) as an element of “cozy” in this chic room.

Primary Bath Room

Continuing our theme of relaxation, we selected gorgeous Carrara marble tiles to set the tone in our Primary bath. Again, the dark wood is the “drama,” and the gold cabinet hardware and mirror frames are the jewelry in the space. Simple and Elegant.

Game & Entertainment Rooms

Many times, you might see an entertainment room that is painted a dark color. In this home, we decided to change things up! We featured a stone wall surrounded by Shoji White. This oversized chocolate brown sectional beckons people to cozy up and watch a movie.

The custom art is splendidly playful featuring hilarious dogs on designer jets. It’s impossible not to smile in this room!

After the movie, enjoy a family ping pong tournament in the upstairs game room.

DESIGN TIP: Animal prints add a fun factor to any room. We selected a zebra print in shades of chocolate and cream for our Roman Shade to give the Game Room a little zing!

This Floorplan includes three large upstairs bedrooms. We took the opportunity to style the middle room as a Lifestyle Room. Whether as an overflow room for your children and their friends to use or just another great space to have as a “getaway,” this bonus room is fun for all with a stylish reading nook, gaming station, and channeled daybed.

Secondary Bedrooms

This room is for all of our Swifties out there! We kept the color palette soft and sophisticated in blush pinks, taupe, and cream. Then we spiced it up with youthful elements like pink ottomans, butterflies, and of course – an uplighting quote from our favorite Taylor!

And yes, that is a fur bed!

Secondary Bedrooms

The downstairs guest bedroom is light and airy. We featured a gorgeous sandbox bed with vertical channeled wings as the backdrop of the room. Soft blues are a tranquil complement to the taupe and white bedding.

The third upstairs bedroom has a more masculine look. Mixing plaids, stripes, and leather with a simple bed in rich chocolate corduroy, we created a room fit for any sports or ski fanatic.

Patio & Outdoor Living

Outdoor living is a wonderful extension of the home. We carried our color palette and style right outside with modern furniture and neutrals.

DESIGN TIP: Notice the shape of the dining chair and lounge chairs. Adding interest in scale and shape to a neutral palette is another way to bring something dynamic to a more subtle color scheme.

Foyer

The design for this model was absolutely influenced by its lakeside location. We based our color scheme on Sherwin-Williams’ 2024 Color of the Year, Upward, where it is featured on shiplap detailing in the entry. The soft blue is complemented by warm wood floors throughout the main spaces in the home.

kitchen

A crisp white kitchen never goes out of style! The counter stools in powder blue upholstery add just the right touches of color and softness to the inviting space.

liVinG Room

What a view! To not distract from the beauty of the surrounding outdoor space, we kept our draperies simple and clean in white with a blue linen trim. Blues of every shade and warm textures in the details breathe vibrance and life into the interior as well.

The open floorplan concept is wonderful for entertaining. Within an open concept, it’s important to define the different spaces. The best way to do this is with area rugs.

We also added a feature wall with herringbone chevron shiplap in the color, Upward, to further define the family room and add a moment of interest.

dininG Room

The adjacent dining room is decked out in fresh blues and whites. We kept the lines of the furniture clean and straight as a foundation for the space, again allowing the outdoor space to be the “art” in the room.

PriMary Bedroom

This stunning blue velvet bed is the focal point of this Primary Bedroom. Blending blues from bold and bright to soft and airy creates a dynamic look that is both serene and a statement.

PriMaryBath

The en-suite Primary Bathroom is classic in Cararra ceramic tiles with ultra crisp white backgrounds. We incorporated bright blue towels, art, and an adorable ottoman to bring this space to life.

StUdy

This gorgeous home study is a favorite! The walls and ceiling in Sherwin-Williams' Upward are the perfect backdrop for the deeper blues in the art and tall draperies. The room is finished with a marble- top desk and custom print ottomans.

Secondary Bedrooms

Playing upon the Lakeside theme, the three secondary bedrooms are cheerful retreats for any children or guests.

Patio &oUtdoorDining

What better way to end the day than with a book in this cozy patio Egg Chair or with a glass of wine while taking in the view. Continuing a home’s personality with the outdoor living spaces is a trade secret for expanding your home and enjoyment.

We love sharing images of perfectly organized spaces as inspiration, but sometimes those same images can create feelings of expectation and can be overwhelming. Don't fall victim to the comparison game. Our clients' systems are customized to their individual needs and available spaces. What works for one household, doesn't work for every household. The most important part of organization is creating a functional system that fits into your lifestyle. Peter Walsh said it best: "Clutter is not just the stuff on your floor – it’s anything that stands between you and the life you want to be living.”

Start by pinpointing the area of your home that is the most important to you. Are you a coffee aficionado, home chef, or just really love to snack? Think about what kind of system will help you establish a calming zone to support your favorite thing and positively affect your mental health. Not sure what that looks like? We've rounded up five simple projects to get your wheels turning.

1. COAT CLOSET

Piles of shoes and overflowing closet rods be-gone! We know just the approach to getting everything in order. Streamlined hangers and bins

with a designated purpose will simplify heading out the door every time.

2. SPICE RACK

Whip up any recipe quickly when your spice collection is within reach and easy to navigate. Decanting spices is about more than how they look. Cohesive jars will line up in a clean row, and a riser will make it easier to scan labels.

LINEN CLOSET

You'll actually enjoy opening your linen closet when everything is contained and labeled. Give your linens and any medicine or bathroom backstock a good edit before diving in; then hide the visual clutter with opaque baskets.

DROP ZONE

Never lose your keys or that really important piece of mail ever again! Organize everything you need for quickly heading out the door. The first step? Relocating any items that don't belong.

TOY STORAGE

Okay... so this one is less about your favorite space and more about the calm that comes from tucking toys out of sight. A cubby bookshelf is a simple solution for any number of toys and works perfectly with our favorite rope bins and label holders.

INGREDIENTS:

• 1 1/2 pounds ground beef

• 3/4 cup plain breadcrumbs

• 1/2 cup finely chopped onion

• 3/4 cup ketchup

• 1 large egg, lightly beaten

• 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

• 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced

• 1 teaspoon kosher salt

• 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper

• Topping:

• 1/2 cup ketchup

• 2 tablespoons light brown sugar

• 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

• chopped fresh parsley, for garnishing

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray.

2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, 3/4 cup ketchup, lightly beaten egg, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Gently mix until well combined, but don’t overmix to avoid a tough meatloaf.

3. Shape beef mixture into an 8” long x 4” wide x 2” high loaf on the prepared baking sheet.

4. In a separate bowl, make the topping by whisking together the ketchup, light brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Spread the sauce evenly over the top and sides of the meat mixture.

5. Bake for 55-60 minutes or until an instant-read thermometer inserted into center registers 160°F. Let stand 10 minutes.

CLASSIC MEATLOAF

INGREDIENTS:

• 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

• 1 cup light brown sugar

• 1 cup granulated sugar

• 2 large eggs

• 2 teaspoons vanilla

INSTRUCTIONS:

• 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

• 1 teaspoon baking soda

• 1 teaspoon kosher salt

• 1 1/2 cups mini M&Ms candies, plus more for topping dough balls with before baking

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper and set aside.

2. In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugars until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat until well combined.

3. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt. Add to the wet ingredients and mix on low until just combined.

4. Gently stir in 1 1/2 cups M&Ms on low speed or with a wooden spoon.

5. Scoop dough into 2-tablespoon sized balls and place a few inches apart on the prepared cookie sheets. Generously press additional M&Ms all over the top of the cookie dough scoops.

6. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the cookies are just starting to turn light brown around the edges and barely starting to crackle on top. Rotate the cookies sheets after 5 minutes of baking time.

7. Let cookies cool a few minutes on the cookie sheets and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

6. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving, if desired. Cut into slices to serve.

LOADED M&M COOKIES

CREAMY MASHED POTATOES

INGREDIENTS:

For the Caesar Dressing (makes 3/4 cup):

• 1/2 cup mayonnaise

• 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

• 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

• 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

• 1 small clove garlic, minced

• 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

• 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

• 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

• 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

• For the Croutons:

INSTRUCTIONS:

INGREDIENTS:

• 5 pounds Yukon gold potatoes, peeled

• 1 cup liquid from boiled potatoes

• 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

• 8 ounces cream cheese, softened

• 1 cup sour cream

• 1/2 cup buttermilk

• 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt

• 1/2 teaspoon onion salt

• salt and pepper to taste

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Cut the potatoes into 1 1/2 inch cubes and transfer to a large pot. Add enough cold water to cover the potatoes by 1 inch and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes or until the potatoes are fork tender. Be careful not to overcook. Remove 1 cup of the liquid before draining the boiled potatoes into a colander.

2. Immediately transfer the drained potatoes and 1 cup liquid (while they’re still hot) to the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment and beat on low speed for 2 minutes or until the potatoes start to mash together with the liquid.

3. Add the melted butter, cream cheese, sour cream, buttermilk, garlic salt, and onion salt. Mix on low speed until just incorporated. Turn the mixer to medium speed and beat for about a minute until well incorporated. The potatoes do not have to be completely smooth.

4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

5. If not serving immediately, transfer the mashed potatoes back to the large pot and keep warm over low heat. Add more buttermilk, if necessary, to thin them out if they start to thicken.

Note: If you don’t have an electric mixer, you can mash the potatoes by hand with a potato masher or with a handheld mixer.

• 1 crusty baguette, cut into 3/4 inch cubes (about 4 cups)

• 1/4 cup olive oil

• 1 teaspoon garlic powder

• 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

• 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

• For the Salad:

• 1 large (or 2 small) head(s) of romaine lettuce, chopped (about 8-10 cups)

• 3/4 cup Caesar salad dressing

• 1/2 cup shaved Parmesan cheese

• 1 cup Homemade Croutons

1. Dressing: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together all the dressing ingredients until well combined. Store in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Shake or whisk to combine well before using.

2. Croutons: Preheat the oven to 375°F. In a large bowl, toss the cubed bread with olive oil until coated evenly. Sprinkle in the garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Gently toss until well combined. Spread the seasoned bread cubes into a single layer on a large baking sheet. Bake until golden and crispy, gently flipping the croutons halfway through, about 15 minutes total. Let cool completely and use immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.

3. Salad: Put the chopped romaine lettuce in a large serving bowl. Add the Caesar dressing and toss until evenly coated. Add the shaved Parmesan and croutons. Gently toss to combine.

4. Serve as a side salad or with a protein like grilled chicken or salmon for a meal.
