“The Italian Chamber of Commerce Canada has been an exceptional resource for me in terms of learning everything there is to know about Italian food as well as culture, finance and so much more.
I was lucky enough to take part in an exceptional tour of Turin where we learned so much about local delicacies like cheese, coffee, chocolate and wine… all the best things Italy has to offer!
The ICCO Canada is now my resource for all things Italian. It’s a magnificent tool!”

Statement by the Prime Minister of Canada
It is with great pleasure that I join everyone participating in the 9th edition of the Pentola d’Oro Awards, hosted by the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Ontario (ICCO) Canada.
The Pentola d’Oro is the annual gala dinner that promotes excellence in food and wine and recognizes individuals as well as businesses and their outstanding contributions to Ontario’s food and beverage industry. This year’s edition will celebrate the quintessential food and wine specialties from the Lazio region focusing on its regional products and authentic flavours.
ICCO Canada is proud to celebrate its 60th Anniversary of the partnership between Canada and Italy.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank ICCO Canada for their important work in promoting
business development within Canadian and Italian companies.
This year, we faced significant challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic. While our celebrations may be different from previous years, they still hold the same significance and meaning.
Wishing everyone attending a wonderful and enjoyable gala dinner and celebration!

A message from Andrea Ferrari, Ambassador of Italy in Canada
I am very pleased to join this distinguished company in sending greetings to the participants, the creators and organizers of this ninth edition of the Pentola d’Oro Awards. My sincere thanks go to the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Ontario for this outstanding yearly event dedicated to highlighting Italian excellence in the Food & Beverage sector.
The quality of our products, the care we take in growing and crafting them, and our virtuosity at combining them and pairing them with the best wines, define what the world knows and appreciates as the “Italian way of life,” the Italian lifestyle – of which we are naturally very proud. We do not eat to live, nor do we live to eat. For us Italians, the table is a special place. Around it, we join family and friends, we share emotions, we do business. Clearly then, a healthy diet, one that nourishes not only the body, but the spirit as well, is one of the fundamental ingredients of a good life.
I am happy to see that more and more Italian products are becoming part of the daily life of Canadian families, just as I am happy to see the growing contribution of our
fellow Italians to the steady development of the Food & Beverage industry in Ontario. Our bilateral trade numbers in the sector are encouraging. This is further testament to the deep ties between Italy and this extraordinary country, ties that go well beyond the world of commerce, ties that I will work to strengthen further during my mandate.
To the winners of this year’s Pentola d’Oro Awards, to the organizers, supporters, and sponsors I extend my very best wishes for continued success and personal well-being. I urge you to continue to aim high. The margins are there, and the nature of the relationship we have built with our Canadian friends demands it.

Con rinnovate felicitazioni ai vincitori e con i migliori auguri di buon lavoro a tutti.

A MESSAGE FROM Hon. Michael
A. Tibollo
Dear friends,
On behalf of the government of Ontario and our Premier Doug Ford, I wish to extend a heartfelt congratulations to the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Ontario Canada on the occasion of the 9th Pentola d’Oro Awards. This important gala does so much to promote and celebrate the many individuals and businesses who have made incredible and lasting contributions to Ontario’s food and beverage industry.
ICCO Canada has always gone above and beyond to acknowledge the many individuals and businesses in our Italian community who have made - and continue to make - notable achievements in the arts, entertainment, sports, education, science, business and politics.
Our government is proud to join ICCO Canada, and all of you here tonight, in celebrating the vibrant, rich heritage and culture of the Italian community. This community continues to make vital contributions to our province’s growth and prosperity, and will always be recognized by our government.
I’ve always believed that it is our culture and traditions that define who we are, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with sharing our culture and traditions with each other. The more we know about each other and celebrate our culture, the easier it is to love and respect each other.
To tonight’s award winners – tonight is your night. Be proud of everything you have accomplished and for all that you have contributed to Ontario’s food and beverage sector. On behalf of the Government of Ontario, I extend a sincere congratulations to each of you.
Thank you, stay safe and God bless.
Sincerely

Hon. Maurizio Bevilacqua, P.C. Mayor A LETTER FROM
I am pleased to extend greetings to everyone attending the ICCO Canada Pentola d’Oro Awards Gala. Tonight’s event is an opportunity to celebrate and recognize the extraordinary individuals and organizations contributing to Ontario’s food and beverage industry.
This year, ICCO Canada celebrates the 60th anniversary of its partnership between Canada and Italy. Since the 1930s, the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Ontario has united professionals across the province to support entrepreneurs and economic development opportunities. Canadians of Italian origin have made and continue to play a significant role in nation-building. In Vaughan, our Italian Canadian community represents more than 30 per cent of Vaughan’s culturally diverse and vibrant population and actively contributes to all aspects of city-building and community-building.
The City of Vaughan has a long and proud history of successful business leadership. As one of the fastestgrowing municipalities in Canada, we value the mission
and determination of entrepreneurs who innovate and bring new ideas to the marketplace. With more than 19,000 companies that employ more than 225,000 people, Vaughan is an economic leader in the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.
I want to thank the ICCO for fostering investment opportunities and cultural collaboration between Canada and Italy. Vaughan’s diversity is the core of our vibrant civic life, and we are grateful for the many positive contributions of our thriving Italian community.
Congratulations to all of tonight’s honourees. Please accept my best wishes for an enjoyable evening.
Yours sincerely,
Hon. Maurizio Bevilacqua Mayor, City of Vaughan

Adrian Thomas, EUCCAN President
The EU and Canada have a long and storied history, with our leaders having reaffirmed this relationship at the latest EU-Canada summit in Brussels. Our two societies are bound by common interests, democratic values and strong people-to-people ties. CETA – fully operative since 2017 – is a business and commercial extension of this fruitful union. These positive results demonstrate that this comprehensive trade agreement helps companies take advantage of new business opportunities in terms of trade and investment on both sides of the Atlantic.
The COVID-19 pandemic and the shifting global economy have shown once more that the EU and Canada have a similar vision. The EU and Canada have both pledged to work on a sustainable and inclusive post-COVID-19 socio-economic recovery plan while addressing climate change and environmental challenges.
By now, we know that sustainability is no longer a choice; with ongoing pressure on resources, our mentality and habits must change. The severe consequences of global warming were on full display just this summer, where we had a glimpse of what could sadly become an ongoing reality. As COP26 is setting a new standard for global climate action, we now know we must limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. But direction and legal frameworks are merely a starting point, with businesses and local communities taking a front seat in the move to a zero-carbon economy. EUCCAN is willing to contribute to this global recovery through innovative, inclusive and resilient economic measures.
EUCCAN has been a supporter of EU/Canada trade relations for over 25 years. Thanks to the support of the EU Delegation in Canada, EUCCAN has seen considerable growth over the past four years. Today, a new strategy is being put in place: becoming a strong advocate for EU companies in Canada, thanks to the creation of industry committees to promote future opportunities between EU and Canadian companies.
We look forward to sharing our knowledge with you and advocating on your behalf.

As Co-Presidents of the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Ontario Canada (ICCO Canada), it is a pleasure and an honour to welcome you to the 9th edition of the ICCO Canada Pentola d’Oro Awards!
With the recent reopening and kick-starting of the economic recovery plan, companies are now ready to take a decisive step into the post-pandemic future, to prepare for what is beyond the horizon. As a facilitator of economic and business relations between Canada and Italy, ICCO Canada is working diligently for all of its members and network.
Our annual gala promotes Italian culinary lifestyle and showcases companies and professionals within the industry, in short, those who are wholeheartedly committed to promoting Made in Italy commerce in Ontario.

A MESSAGE FROM ICCO CANADA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, CORRADO PAINA
the business community of Italian origin, as well as celebrating the Italian companies which have decided to come to Canada:
• Rosanna Magnotta: a monument to courage in life and in business, a model of ethics and leadership for today’s youth.
• Giulietta Restaurant: successful in a highly competitive field with a pro-active business model, demonstrating a creative approach and respect for the deep tradition of Italian gastronomy.
• Tony Cataldi: bringing to the table (an appropriate metaphor!) the strength, resilience and dynamism of the companies which are able to grow in the world of large-scale distribution.
Back in 1961, a few Italian entrepreneurs decided to band together to create the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Toronto. In other parts of the world, other Italian entrepreneurs followed suit. Today there are almost 80 head offices and nearly 50 branches of the Italian Chamber of Commerce spread all over the world.
The Italian Chambers Abroad Network has been created to offer a systemic service to Italian companies that are looking to make a move abroad and to foreign companies that wish to do commerce with Italy.
Globally, there are over five million Italian citizens and more than 60 million people of Italian origin, with the population of Italy totalling nearly 60 million. The Italian Chambers of Commerce make a point to reside, operate and make a difference within these business communities.
We have been an active member of the local community since 1961, with the foundations being set even before then (previously an Italian Chamber of Commerce was active in Toronto before the Second World War). Our mission: to work with local business communities of Italian origin and Italian entrepreneurs living abroad.
We have worked with many Canadian companies run by managers and owners of Italian origin, from construction companies to law firms, from importers and distributors of food and wine to innovation companies, from pharmaceutical factories to financial institutions.
Tonight, we recognize the best representatives of this community,
• Eataly: the temple of Italian food. Its owner Oscar Farinetti – in his biography recently published by Rizzoli in Italy – recognises our role in this successful company opening in Canada.
The story of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and of the Canadian Italian community is deeply intertwined. As a testament to this long history, we encourage everyone to purchase a copy of our latest editorial project, “Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow” which tells the story of the Italian-Canadian business community in the GTA from 1900 up until today.
Tonight, the edition of Pentola d’Oro, is a special moment, a platform as well as a bastion of the sparkling world of the Italian food and wine industry. These past sixty years are an account of a life-long dedication to the service of local companies, small, medium and large.
Without all of you – the entrepreneurs, the store owners, the importers, the distributors, the restaurateurs, the chefs – ICCO Canada would not exist. The Italian Chamber of Commerce of Ontario Canada (ICCO Canada) will be blowing out the candles on its 60th birthday not just to celebrate the past but to bring more light, more energy and more power to the future our inspirational community.
Thank you.

CATALDI FRESH MARKET INC
Back in 1979 my parents Francesco and Rosa Cataldi first opened their doors of a local, independent grocery store called “Generi Alimentari Cataldi” in Lamezia Terme, near Calabria, Italy. It was the start of what would become a long family tradition. The store was small but carried everything you could possibly want, ranging from groceries to farm products. In 1989, my parents decided to come to Canada and open a grocery store with a European touch and called it “Lamezia Grocery”. As our family grew, so did our passion for the business, meaning it was time to expand. Today we proudly serve two locations in Toronto and Vaughan.
Cataldi Fresh Market symbolizes Italy and its rich culinary history, and with this in mind we are constantly striving to be a true Italian marketplace!

Paolo Cacciani, an Italian chef born in Rome in 1966, is married to Sara and has two sons aged 12 and 15. In 1922, his grandfather Leopoldo opened the restaurant Ristorante-Hotel Cacciani in Frascati in the Lazio region of Italy. Under the wise guidance of Leopoldo and his wife Giannina, the two sons Tommaso and Armando – along with their wives Adriana and Dina – managed the growth and expansion of the Cacciani restaurant, which coincided with the economic boom of the post-war period and the growth of Italy.
Today, almost 100 years later, Paolo Cacciani is still running the same restaurant, keeping up long-standing traditions which began with his great grandfather, who in addition to owning the restaurant produced wine and olive oil. The Ristorante-Hotel Cacciani has been listed in the world-renowned Michelin Guide since 1957 and produces a line of products called “Fatto da Cacciani”: Frascati White wine, Frascati Red Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot, EVO Olive oil and a line of sauces, including their famous “Cacio e Pepe”.
Retracing the career of the chef, Paolo Cacciani graduated in Business at La Sapienza University in Rome in 1992 with the thesis “La Ristorazione Commerciale: how to run a commercial restaurant”; in addition, Chef Paolo became the owner and head chef of the Ristorante-Hotel Cacciani.

Paolo Cacciani has trained over 100 chefs and has organized more than 2000 events, for groups ranging from 30 to 2000 attendees, in New York, Toronto, Moscow and Budapest.
Chef Paola has written “Il gusto di Roma” with Azienda Romana Mercati in 2007 (Agra Press) and “La cucina emotiva” in 2013 with Valeria Arnaldi (Orme Editions).
In addition, he has appeared on several Italian TV programs, including Le amiche del sabato, Linea verde, Geo&Geo, Uno in cucina, In Tavola, Casa Alice Buongiorno Alice, Ricette di Famiglia with Davide Mengacci, A casa di Elisabetta, Benvenuti al Gambero Rosso with Francesca Barberini and many others.
